Display font in Photoshop (menus, tools, etc)

I've been searching for two days for a way to increase the display font size in CS4 (WIndows 7). In the process, I found that the same problem exists in Cs5. I am using a 21" monitor in its native resolution and would go blind trying to see the menus and the tools.
1. Once again, does anybody know if it's possible to increase the font size?
2. If it is not possible, I have to say that I find the programmers at Adobe to be incredibly lacking sensitivity: not everybody has the eyes they had at 17

You can change the size of the menus by using Windows Color and Appearance>Advanced Appearance Settings under Menu.
This however is a global windows setting which means all the programs will be effected.
One thing is that cs4/cs5 will have bigger menus but unlike previous photoshop versions i.e cs3 the menu title will not change.

  • Change menu display font in Indesign cs6?

I recently got Adobe Creative Suite 6 and am having problems with InDesign. When I open the program and am prompted for file size etc... the display font is Harrington (or something curly like that). The same goes for the stroke menu and font menu. Is there a way to change this display/default font?

My question isn't about how to change the default font when using the text tool but how to change the display fonts for all menus. In the picture posted before I was showing you the drop down menus to point out the Harrington font used. In previous versions of Indesign that font was something basic and easy to read like Arial or Helvetica.
Picture 1 is of Illustrator CS6. The font for space where I enter information (ex. Name : Untitled-1 ... Number of Artboards: 1 etc.) is a Arial but in Picture 2 the same fields are in Harrington - is there a way to change this to be like picture one?

When I open FF there is no text displaying(menus, content, etc.), and most of the window is blacked out. For example... I can see the the firefox button on the top left corner, when I go to it the drop down list drops and there is no text, if I move down the drop down I hit where there is a slide out in that drop down and no text is there. So, to start in safe mode you need to go to the firefox button, and click on start in safe mode. I can't See safe mode or click on anything were safe mode should be.

hello, close all firefox windows & hold the shift-key while opening firefox in order to launch it in safemode. in the first dialog just choose "continue in safemode" and go to firefox > options > advanced > general. in there disable hardware acceleration, restart firefox normally again and see if this has changed anything.

The menu is accessable by using the <alt> shortcut keys (<alt>F brings up the File dropdown menu).  I was able to get the tool bars back by <alt>V - Toolbars but the menu is still not visible.

  • How to exactly replicate webpage fonts in Photoshop? Can it be done?

Hi all, I've just come across something in photoshop that I must have never have picked up on before.
I am trying to simply replicate a peice of text in photoshop so that it is pixel by pixel exactly the same as what I would see in a webbrowser with some text from a css/html based webpage.
I used to think creating the text in the same font size and turning the antialiasing method to none reproduced the same text by to my amazement there is
    a slight difference.
As you can see in the text below the text displayed in the css/html webpage does not look as pixelly as the photoshop version.
The grey box is from the actual webpage itself, the text next to Webpage text is screen grabbed from a basic css/html webpage, the Photoshop text what created with the type tool (anti aliasing none)
Just wondering if anyone can explain what is going on here and is there a way to exactly replicate web fonts in photoshop?
    Any help would be great

Sorry, you can't (without copying text from a browser).
Part of the problem is that every browser renders text differently.
And part of it is that many browsers currently render with an anti-aliasing style that Photoshop doesn't support (color edges).
Then there's the lack of kerning in browsers and ....
We've been thinking about how to replicate browser font rendering, but it's not nearly as easy as it sounds.

all photoshop cs4 tools are not responding. how do I get them to work, again?

Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, font validation, etc.)?

-> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
-> go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now do this:
    -> Update ALL your Firefox Plug-ins https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
-> go to View Menu -> Zoom -> click "Reset" -> Page Style -> select "Basic Page Style"
-> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> select '''Menu Bar''' and '''Navigation Toolbar''' -> unselect All Unwanted toolbars
-> go to Tools Menu -> Clear Recent History -> '''Time range to clear: select EVERYTHING''' -> click Details (small arrow) button -> place Checkmarks on '''Cookies, Cache''' -> click '''Clear Now'''
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Content -> place Checkmarks on:
    1) Block Pop-up windows 2) Load images automatically 3) Enable JavaScript
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Privacy -> History section -> '''Firefox will: select "Use Custom Settings for History"''' -> REMOVE Checkmark from '''"Permanent Private Browsing mode"''' -> place CHECKMARKS on:
    1) Remember my Browsing History 2) Remember Download History 3) Remember Search History 4) Accept Cookies from sites -> select "Exceptions..." button -> Click "Remove All Sites" at the bottom of "Exception - Cookies" window
4a) Accept Third-party Cookies -> under "Keep Until" select "They Expire"
-> REMOVE CHECKMARK from CLEAR HISTORY WHEN FIREFOX CLOSES
-> When using the Location Bar, suggest: select "History and Bookmarks"
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Security -> place Checkmarks on:
    1) Warn me when sites try to install add-ons 2) Block reported attack sites 3) Block reported web forgeries 4) Remember Passwords for sites
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Advanced -> Network -> Offline Storage (Cache): click '''Clear Now''' button
-> Click OK on Options window
-> click the Favicon on SearchBar -> click "Manage Search Engines" -> select all Unwanted Search Engines and click '''Remove''' button -> click OK

  • Can I change iTunes & iPod display font (not font size) for selected files only?

I loaded a Russian classical music CD into iTunes and iPod. On the original CD, titles, names etc. are written in cyrillic alphabet.  Once I loaded the CD into iTunes and on iPod this info was displayed unreadably in western alphabet.  Example:  "Èæå õåðóâèìû..." (Í. Ãîëîâàíîâ)Õîð È.
I have cyrillic font on my Windows 7 computer.  Can I change the display font--for only these selected iTunes music files--to the cyrillic font?  Thanks!

Does any one know how you can adjust the font size (point size) for the file
    names.
Sadly enough you can't chance that, feel free to add a feature request for
that, the more there ask for the bigger chance it will be realized.
It would be great if the colors for the image name (background and font color)
could be changed so the contrast could also be increased so it is also easier
    to read.
And this the cheerful part, go to Bridge preferences General tap and play
with the sliders for user interface and Image Backdrop until your satisfied.
BTW using the slider for thumbnail size bottom right of the Bridge window to
increase the thumbs does not increase the font but makes it nevertheless a
    little clearer.

The CSS has NOT changed. Multiple users are experiencing this issue, on multiple platforms (FF7, in windows)

Can't offer you much help but can only mention how bad the font technology is in this respect. In my opinion the font usage interfaces available nowadays  are the most primitive and undeveloped than any other software solutions.
Initially, decades ago, the primary goal of the font managers was system performance. In the early desktop computers even a few dozen fonts would slow down considerably the system performance. Nowadays the computers are so much faster that I can have thousands of fonts installed without any problem. So, the major advantage of font managers is lost and I have to use them for organization purposes only. However because they are external means to a problem that needs to be solved internally on a system and program level, they are very inefficient. You have to organize your fonts externally and load or unload with another program all the time in order to have manageable font menu. However this doesn't affect the system fonts and many program fonts which are a number large enough to clutter and interfere with any external arrangement. Basically a font manager allows you to organize your fonts externally where you can choose which fonts you want or don't want to use, then the font manager  automates the installing and uninstalling of these fonts in the system fonts folder and thus limits the number of fonts that appear in the font menus. Font managers don't have access to and can't sort the font menu in anyway.
Ideally, this problem should be solved on a system level. The perfect interface I imagine would be user created sub-folders in the system Fonts folder where a font or its alias can be put and this would be the way the fonts should appear in the Fonts panels and menus of the programs with collapsible sub-menus.

  • How to organize / group fonts in Photoshop

When I open fonts drop down menu inside of Photoshop, I have over 300 fonts listed in alphabetical order, most of which I don't use.
I installed about 20 fonts that I like. But how do I group them together? After typing and selecting text in Photoshop, I want to quickly flip through my 20 best fonts collection (with up and down arrow) to see which font looks better. Is there a way to do it?
I tried deleting all fonts from Library, and leaving only my 20 fonts there, but that didn't work out, because text in other applications started looking funny.
Please let me know if there is a better solution.

  • 10.6.7 Update Changed Display Font

Weird: Did the latest security update on my MacBook Pro and next thing I know, my Safari bookmark bar; various system and Growl alerts; and my Photoshop alerts, dialog boxes and layer names are appearing in Helvetica Neue. They used to be either Lucida or Geneva. Don't recall which, but it was preferable, and I want it back!
What's really bothersome is that my other user account, which I maintain for testing purposes, and therefore hasn't been altered from any of its original install settings, isn't displaying this annoying change.
Weirder is the fact that my Safari and Photoshop apps have been affected, but not Mail, Dashboard widgets, or the subtext (a.k.a., the smaller definition text beneath the headline) in system alerts.
I remember when you could control your display fonts!
    What am I missing?

Since 10.6.7 and possibly since installing an update to Google Earth the default fonts in Mail, Safari and iCal displays have changed to something that I don't recognize. The numbers and day names in iCal look much plainer as do the numbers signifying unread mail in Mail folders. And the numbers on my Safari yahoo stock tables. If this occurred during the system update, can I reinstall the update without fear of losing anything?
