Display Generated ODS objects

We are not able to display system generated infosources and infopackages in the Infosource DM (Datamart) application component.
I have tried Settings --> Display Generated Objects, and set to Show, but this does not generate any application components. This feature does work, however, in our other development and QA clients.
Any thoughts?

Is the DM Application Component normally transported through to Production, or is it activated in the target client?
After further review of active Business Content in our production client, the Application Component DM is not shown as active. Guess that could be the problem!
Please confirm if we can simply transport up the DM application component.

Generated ODS Objects

Hello All,
I have 2 questions:
1) I have loaded all my data from R/3 to ODS and now want to load from ODS to Cube. SO I have generated an export datasource by right clicking on the ODS and selecting "Generate Export..." and it gave a successful message.
   - Then I went into Infosources tree and from the menu Settings -> Display Generated Objects -> Choose "Show Generated ODS Objects".
   - Then I searched for the infosources starting with 8 but couldn't find any.
   Am I doing something wrong here? Is it the correct way to do that? Can I also upload into Cube from ODS by RC on the ODS and selecting "Update ODS Data in Data Target"? What is the difference?
2) I have loaded the Sales Orders and Item data from R/3 by selecting "Initialization" in the Infopackage. I want to do the deltas now. I checked in LBWQ and found some records for application 11 & 12. But when I check in RSA7, it is showing '0' in Total field. Why is this happening? Do I need to do anything to before it gets updated in RSA7?

There is no need for you to genereted ODS object...it will be readily available under datamart infosource for ODS objects...only for cubes we need to do that...
Search only under datamart infosources
If it is showing delta records in RSA7, try executing the infopackage with delta
if it is not showing delta records here.....for delta data records are not there in R/3

Display generated objects in BW 7.0

Dear Experts,
I wanted to display generated objects in BW 7.0 In 3.x it was possible to activate this setting via "settings -> display generated objects". I cannot find the setting in the BW 7.0
Can someone give me an advice?

Hi, have you checked if your 8* object is visible when you search for it? If you can check and just let us know, have checked my end and it is visible but see your point re the option from Settings menu

Hallo Experts,
we just made a system copy. After the system copy we recognize with the
TA: rsrv: "Check if the generated programs of an ODS object are up to date"
that the generated programs of ODS are not up to date.
Can the reason be the system copy? We don´t really know the reason.

isn't there a repair button to fix it? I can only imagine to do it manually with checking the last change date of a ods and the last change date of the update program.

Problem trying to display generated objects

Hi,
I am trying to display generated objects in my Development 3.1 BW, this system does not have enough memory to work with a lot of data o processing.
I need to create an infopackage from an 8 Infosource, but when I select the option "show generated objects" the system show me the following error: STORAGE_PARAMETERS_WRONG_SET
The current program had to be terminated because of an
error when installing the R/3 System.
The program had already requested 390086656 bytes from the operating
system with 'malloc' when the operating system reported after a
further memory request that there was no more memory space
available.
The basis told me Parameters are correct with respect to a SAP note.
I want to know if there is another option to find the specific Infosource and create the Infopackage.

The only way to create infopackage is after the 8 infosource gets displayed.
The problem is with in the BW system...
this could be due to some temp table spaces..
Moreover chk whether u r able to search the other export datasources in BW.

Use
When creating and changing an ODS object, you can make the following settings:
BEx Reporting
With the BEx Reporting indicator, you determine whether the ODS object is immediately available for BEx queries. If the indicator is not set, no SIDs are generated for the new characteristics when the data in the ODS object is activated. This optimizes the performance of the activation process, but the ODS object is not available as an InfoProvider for queries. Turn the indicator off for all ODS objects that are only being used for further processing of data in other data targets or that are being used in InfoSets.
ODS Object Type
Select the ODS object type. You can choose between standard and transactional, whereby standard is pre-installed and transactional is only meant for special cases. You can switch the type as long as there is still no data in the ODS object.

Unique Data Records
With the Unique Data Records indicator, you determine whether only unique data records are to be updated to the ODS object. This means that you cannot load a data record into the ODS object the key combination for which already exists in the system u2013 otherwise a termination occurs. Only use this setting when you are sure that only unique data records are to be loaded into the ODS object (for example, single documents). A typical application of this is in the loading of mass data. It improves the load performance.
Note
You can also deselect this indicator again (even if data has already been loaded into the ODS object). This can be necessary if you want to re-post deleted data records using a repair request (see: Tab Page: Updating). In this case, you need to deselect the Unique Data Records indicator before posting the repair request, following which you can then reset the Unique Data Records indicator once more. The regeneration of metadata of the Export DataSource, which takes place when the ODS object is reactivated, has no effect on the existing data mart delta method.
Check Table for the InfoObject
Here the name of the InfoObject is displayed for which the ODS object is also the check table, if necessary. You can specify this when creating an InfoObject. See also Tab Page: Master Data/Texts in the InfoObject maintenance.
Automatically Setting Quality Status to OK
With this indicator, you can determine that the system automatically sets the quality status to OK after loading data into the ODS object. You should turn on this function. You should only deselect this indicator if you want to check the data after it has been loaded.
Automatically Activating the ODS Object Data
With this indicator, you can establish that the data that has Quality Status OK be transferred from the activation queue into the active data table, and that the change log is updated. Activation is carried out by a new job that is started after loading into an ODS object is complete. If the activation process terminates, there can be no automatic update.
Automatically Updating Data from the ODS Object
With this indicator, you can establish that the ODS object data be automatically updated. Once it has been activated, the data is updated in the data targets. An init. update is carried out automatically with the first update. If the activation process terminates, there can be no automatic update. The update is carried out by a new job that is started once activation is complete.
Note
Only activate automatic activation and updating if you can ensure that these processes do not overlap.
If you use process chains to guarantee serial processing of the process, these settings are not supported for the object (with the exception of setting the quality status). Then you have to include the automatic processes as process types in the process chain.

Error activating ODS object.

None of the ODS objects gets activated and following are the error messages that i get when i try to activate a ODS object :

Diagnosis
A prefix is defined for the source system for determining cross-system unique transfer structure names. This prefix is not defined between your source system T90CLNT090 and Warehouse T90CLNT090. There was probably an error when creating the source system.
Procedure
If you have not yet loaded data from this source system, delete the source system and then recreate it.
If the problem occurs again, check the SAP Support Portal. Create a new problem message, if necessary.

Have a look on the following points and see if they are satisfied in your case:
Check all characteristics involved as described below:
1. Check the Compounding and Attributes tabs in the characteristics maintenance.
2. All characteristics here must be active. This is displayed by a green icon.
If this is not the case for a characteristic involved (a gray icon is displayed on one of the two tabs), activate the characteristic involved. This also activates the inactive dependent characteristics.
3. After you have checked and repaired all the characteristics involved as described above, the loading/maintenance of master data should work again.
Because of this you may sometimes get the same error while activating the ODS object.

Significance of BEx Reporting flag in ODS objects

Hello Masters,
I would like to know in detail, the Significance of BEx Reporting flag in ODS settings. What happens if we flag, and hat happedn when we dont ?
If, Transaction Data is loaded into the ODS, without loading the relevant Masterdata in advance, are SID's created, as it happens in cube ?
IS there a connection between SID's and ODS objects ?

Report on standard ODS object and transactional ODS object

hi gurus
i have an infoset which is built on two transactional ODS objects and one standard ODS object which gets the data on regulr schedule. the transactional ODS obejcts get the user entered data.
when i query on the infoset, i am getting the data. and when i query on the standard ODS object i am getting the data. but when i am trying to create a query on the combination of the Infoset and the ODS object i am not getting the data.
is there any way to generate report on the standard ods object and Infoset from transactional ods objects.
your help will be greatly appreciated.

what do v mean by this?

Hi,
In a standard ODS object, data is stored in different versions (active, delta, modified), whereas a transactional ODS object contains the data in a single version. Therefore, data is stored in precisely the same form in which it was written to the transactional ODS object by the application. In BW, you can use a transaction ODS object as a data target for an analysis process. The transactional ODS object is also required by diverse applications, such as SAP Strategic Enterprise Management (SEM) for example, as well as other external applications.Transactional ODS objects allow data to be available quickly. The data from this kind of ODS object is accessed transactionally, that is, data is written to the ODS object (possibly by several users at the same time) and reread as soon as possible.
It offers no replacement for the standard ODS object. Instead, an additional function displays those that can be used for special applications.

I am installing this ODS and when i hit simulate , I am getting this message and only the cube is getting installed and nothing else.

Hi,
The ODS and update rules might be greyed as they might have already been installed. Even if an object is greyed for the Install check box, it will give you the option to Match or Copy, which would overwrite the current object version with the Business Content version, so try installing selecting this check box.
Moverover when you are trying to view the activated objects some times the displayed objects are not refreshed, so try refreshing the same and then viewing.

Problem with activating ODS object.

Hi experts,
I've got a problem with the activation of an ODS object. I've transported this single object from T to A system. First I got an error because one InfoObject was not yet transported to A. After I succesfully transported this InfoObjec, I tried to transport the ODS object again. But now the ODS object is not activated. I cannot activate it by hand also.
The following messages appear when I try to transport/activate this ODS object:
"No active nametab exists for /BIC/AZODEFOP50>"
"Termination due to inconsistencies"
"BIC/ZODEFOP00 (statements could not be generated)"
"Tabel /BIC/AZODEFOP50 could not be activated"
Does anybody know what is wrong and how i can solve it? I've tried to transport this ODS object several times but always the same problem. Even if I try to create this ODS object in A system by hand under the same name: ZODEFOP, I get the same errors when I want to activate it.
Please help me!

Hi,
Make sure that the self system is in active form in RSA1->Source system tree.
And also make sure the RFC destination to self system is in active form.
Some times self sytem inactive or wrong path in destinations to self one creates the problem in the activation of ODS.Becuse it has to create a DS on ODS.
