Display going crazy

I just bought my powerbook g4 15 inch in france cause im french and 2 weeks after, the display is going mad with a lot of ligns and then freeze, the display turns green then purple and then black ... what can i do, my garanty is in france and im studing in guayaquil in ecuador for 8 months, but i really need a machine... please APPLE help me

Welcome to the Apple discussions.
Sorry to hear about your screen problems. Since this is a user-to-user forum, Apple typically doesn't read/respond to it. As I look at Apple's country coverage, in Ecuador/Columbia/Peru, there's no Apple or AASP coverage. You could overnight ship your system to a friend in France, so they could get it serviced for you. I know that's not a great answer.
While this may be a stretch....have you hooked up an external monitor, on the off chance that the issue is the display itself, and not the signal feeding the display?

It is static electricity that is causing it. When I touch the left mouse button with my finger the static discharges and the screen goes crazy.

• IPad display goes crazy

The display on my inlaws' 16G WiFi iPAD1 is fine for a few minutes, then the bottom fifth gets distorted, then becomes a mess of colored lines. Eventually, the whole display is colored lines. Resetting brings the display back for a little while, then the cycle repeats. I assume it is a hardware problem and I am sure it is well out of warranty. Is there any hope for fixing this?

Dave-
How did you do the reset? Did you hold both the Home and Sleep buttons until the Apple logo appeared?
It does sound like a hardware problem. Search for an Apple Authorized Repair Center near you. There may be one in your city. For the US, see <United States>. Outside the US, see <http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1434>.

• Batter display going crazy

I just recieved my iPod Video on Christmas and I noticed that when I play music the battery seems full but when I play a video the battery starts to get lower little by little until the point where it's empty in a matter of minutes. Then when I come back to playing music the battery display shoots back up to normal.
I had a problem similar to this with my old mini with the battery shooting up from low to high. What's the problem? Although, my mini didn't start having these problems until after a year.
Also, I remember reading somewhere that when you recieve your iPod you have to charge it all the way before you use it. Something like that. Is this true? My iPod seemed to be fully charged when I first connected it to my computer if I remember correctly though.

It is normal for an iPod to do that. When playing a video you are using the backlightand video display which runs down the battery. Then you listen to music and not using a lot of powerfrom the backlight or the display. This makes the battery level rise. There is relley nothing you can do. I like to watch videos when I am using my car or wall charger. It seems not to run down the barrery at all.

• When using Live View, site looks great, browser testing goes crazy

I am creating a new website (and I am really unexperienced with Dreamwaver CS5). But when I check my site using "Live View" everything looks great, the way it is supposed to. Then when I go to test it in my browswer (Primary browser is Chrome) it goes crazy: I at first noticed that I had saved one copy as an .asp but then resaved it to .xhtml I did delete the first line of code already that the .asp file created as it kept giving me an error on line 1.
Then I tried to do a spry drop-down menu bar, which I have deleted since I thought I was doing something wrong with that and I should just stick to what I half-way know.
If I were to preview the template page it gives me this error:
This page contains the following errors:
error on line 150 at column 76: error parsing attribute name
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.
Here is line 150:
if (a[i].indexOf("#")!=0){ d.MM_p[j]=new Image; d.MM_p[j++].src=a[i];}}
If I were to test the index.xhtml page in the browser, it ignores most images (all but one), and the first nav-bar (an editable region) appears to the left instead of under the header. The layout is totally ignored and everything is on the left-hand side of the screen instead of in a two column layout.
I am not testing this on a server just off of my computer.
I am assuming that the error has something to do with the .asp file I first did and when I resaved it, since I don't know what I would be looking for, is still in there screwing it up.
Here is the code from the template page:

1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
4) If you prefer your nav on the left instead of the right, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all left instead of all right) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source.

Instructions

Be aware that the CSS for these layouts is heavily commented. If you do most of your work in Design view, have a peek at the code to get tips on working with the CSS for the fixed layouts. You can remove these comments before you launch your site. To learn more about the techniques used in these CSS Layouts, read this article at Adobe's Developer Center - http://www.adobe.com/go/adc_css_layouts.

Clearing Method

Because all the columns are floated, this layout uses a clear:both declaration in the .footer rule. This clearing technique forces the .container to understand where the columns end in order to show any borders or background colors you place on the .container. If your design requires you to remove the .footer from the .container, you'll need to use a different clearing method. The most reliable will be to add a <br class="clearfloat" /> or <div class="clearfloat"></div> after your final floated column (but before the .container closes). This will have the same clearing effect.

Logo Replacement

An image placeholder was used in this layout in the .header where you'll likely want to place a logo. It is recommended that you remove the placeholder and replace it with your own linked logo.

Logo Replacement

Be aware that if you use the Property inspector to navigate to your logo image using the SRC field (instead of removing and replacing the placeholder), you should remove the inline background and display properties. These inline styles are only used to make the logo placeholder show up in browsers for demonstration purposes.

To remove the inline styles, make sure your CSS Styles panel is set to Current. Select the image, and in the Properties pane of the CSS Styles panel, right click and delete the display and background properties. (Of course, you can always go directly into the code and delete the inline styles from the image or placeholder there.)

Backgrounds

By nature, the background color on any div will only show for the length of the content. This means if you're using a background color or border to create the look of a side column, it won't extend all the way to the footer but will stop when the content ends. If the .content div will always contain more content, you can place a border on the .content div to divide it from the column.

• Scroll bar goes crazy and active window jumps around in size - Help

I've got iTunes 7.0.5 installed. If I use iTunes for any length of time, my system goes crazy. The scroll bar on whatever program I make active goes up and down like mad, while the content of the active window shrinks and magnifies in size multiple times a second. It's very bizarre and consistently happens only when I run iTunes for some length of time. I have no problem if I choose Windows Media Player. It's very disturbing, as I can no longer use iTunes. Any help in knowing how to fix the problem, or even to trouble shoot it further, would be greatly appreciated.

Here are a couple of thoughts on the Timeline scrolling and other possible display issues:
1.) make sure that you have the very latest video driver - the very latest
2,) if you have Vista, turn Aero and Sidebar off
3.) if you have Window Blinds, get the very latest version
4.) if you have an InteliPoint mouse driver, try removing it, and using the standard Windows mouse driver instead*
5.) if you have a laptop and both the touch-pad and a mouse are installed and ON, turn the touch-pad OFF
These are some suggestions that might affect your display issues.
Good luck,
Hunt
* The MS InteliPoint has caused many display issues with Adobe products. Most often, these have manifested themselves in flashing GUI's and similar, but other odd behaviors have been experienced. If the removal of InteliPoint does help, try the very latest version, but be ready to revert to the standard Windows mouse driver.

• My black berry tour 9300 is going crazy help ASAP!

I went away for a week and the second day my phone started going crazy. It would freeze and type in huhuhuhuhuhuhuhu until the whole thing was filled with it and when i try to type "hahahaha" it ends up like this "huahuahuahua" i first thought that maybe i got sand in it so i brought that air duster you use for keyboards on computers it helped a little but its still freezing i still cant type in words or use my key board or my enter button, end button, and menu button. What can i do? it also took my pictures and deleted them. HELP ME PLEASE!!!

It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out.
It really is more common than you think.
1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
3. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
*Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day

Hi, I have a MBP 17", 10.6.8. The display is going crazy, lots of sections of various applications and windows all jumping around the screen. (photo attached) Happened only 3 times. Think it may be a graphic card problem, but want more clarification before making appt at Genius Bar.
Any other ideas?
Cheers, Chris.

• STAYING Invisible - I am going crazy!

I would like to remain INVISIBLE permanently.
I have always used this status. However, Skype now displays my Status as "online" even if I have set the status.
I have skype open on 2 devices (iPhone & MacBook Pro) and sometimes an iPad, and I am being bombarded with Connection requests from strangers. The stus is set as invisible on all devices, but changes itself even within a session to Visible/Online!
I am going crazy.
How can I fix this?
Thanks

eekfreak,
Sounds like a bit of corruption in that lil' ol' computer! Try the following ........
Close the Mail application .... then go to .......
~Users (Home) folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Drag the plist to the Desktop
Repair Disk Permissions .... using /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility .......... RESTART the computer
Open Mail .... if things seem OK, drag the old plist on the Desktop to the Trash and Empty .... you might have to reset some of your personal preferences in Mail.
If you still have a problem .... read this:

I try to make a simple Hello World Program with SWT and Draw2d, here is my code:
public class HelloDraw2d
public static void main(String args[])
new HelloDraw2d().open("Hello Draw2d");
private void open(String text)
Shell shell = new Shell();
shell.setText(text);
shell.setSize(300, 500);
LightweightSystem lws = new LightweightSystem(shell);
IFigure content = createContent();
lws.setContents(content);
shell.open();
Display display = Display.getDefault();
while (!shell.isDisposed())
if (!display.readAndDispatch())
display.sleep();
private IFigure createContent()
return new Label("Hello World");
When i run the program i always get this exception:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.eclipse.swt.graphics.GC.getLineCap()I

at HelloDraw2d.main(HelloDraw2d.java:14)
I tried different versions of SWT and Draw2d, i tried it on different Computers, i tried first to initialize a Canvas and give the canvas to the Lightweightsystem but i always got this exception. Does anybody know what im doing wrong? The Code must be correct, i also tried other examples from the eclipse help and so on but none of them worked.....
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

Barbera,
Rather than use Movie Maker to burn it to a CD, could you not just add the file to a CD in quicktime format, thus negatining the need to convert it?
There are plenty of web sites that detail how to do this, but this one is the first I found which looked to be the most suitable:
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1543/xphow_to_burn_files_and_folders_to_acd
Hope this helps. let me know if it doesn't.
regards

if you know how please tell me because i'm in a hurry! thanks

• Synaptics trackpad going crazy with Windows 10

The trackpad on my Hp Envy M7 Model-G6U51UA#ABA trackpad has been going crazy with windows 10. Sometimes (most of the time) the thing does not respond at all (clicks or fingermovement) when it does occasionaly it will zoom in/out with only one finger (NEVER did this with windows 8.1) I am DESPERATE FOR HELP!! I have tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it (driver from hp's website)

Thank you for your help on this!
Yes, I tried 1440x900 with no other settings. That's actually how I have it now. It allows me to go up to 1152x768, but that's it. ;-)
To the previous question on 1400x1050.. Yes I tried that also. It was in the modelines from the hdw config that I had, but since my monitor will only support up to x900, it wouldn't work either.
My existing 'abbreviated' conf settings are below, I've download the nvidia driver (pacman -S nvidia) and tried changing the driver below from nv to nvidia, but X complained and wouldn't start, so I'm back to the 'nv' driver below:

• Track pad is going crazy

I have been using track pad for my iMac for several years, but just recently, it has been going crazy by operating erratically so it's no longer usable. I looked up the apple community and I am not the only one. Also, there seems to be no solution posted. Should we just expect the life cycle of track pad to be just couple of years?

I went into the Apple store and explained the problems with the track pad. I also asked the employee to connect my track pad to the new iMac on display. My track pad behaved erractically as usual and the guy spoke with the one of the Genius' at the bar and they told me they would repalce the track pad as one time thing. This is why Apple is so awesome. I can not think of any other company that would do this after the warranty period is over. Thanks Apple!

• Cinema display goes black upon resolution change in Windows XP

Greetings
Earlier today, I updated my ATI X1600 Radeon to the latest Windows Catalyst drivers and to the Catalyst Control Center from ATI. Even since, whenever a Windows application (games, in this case) tries to change the resolution on my external Apple Cinema Display (designated as the main monitor in the ATI Catalyst Control Center, with the MacBook Pro display disabled), the display goes black, and the monitor power lamp starts to flash.
If I unplug the external Cinema Display from my MacBook Pro, my MacBook Pro display activates, and displays whatever it is I was trying to launch, so the problems is somehow related to the Cinema Display, even if the new drivers are causing it.
This happens regardless of my Catalyst Control Center settings, such as scaling the lower resolution to fit the screen, or keeping it the original size, with black borders around. The problem does not occur when I launch games using 1600 x 1024, the Cinema Display's native resolution.
Any ideas what might be causing it, and how to resolve it?

Update on my situation: when I tried to change the resolution manually in Windows, I encountered the same problem. Now, whenever I connect the Cinema Display to my MacBook Pro, the same thing occurs: the screen goes black, and the power lamp starts flashing, even though I've changed back to 1600 x 1024.
