Display IC corrupted

Blank display, connected to tv via hdmi and to monitor via vga still blank. Tried with single ram in both slots alternatively still blank. Reconnected hdd still the same. The fan is running, the caps lock touch pad lock, wifi when toggled the indicator light changes. Consulted with a technician, who tells that it is possibly a IC got corrupted (maybe of the vga or graphic). Is it repairable without replacing motherboard. If so then, where do I find the IC. What is the IC model number and what else do I need to do?
Using: HP Pavilion dv6-3050tx nb India

Hey @Xaphene ,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're looking for information on replacement parts for your dv6 notebook.
You'll need to be a bit more specific about which part you're trying to replace. IC could mean Internal Cable, Inverter Cable, Integrated Circuit, or a few other things.
You can find a complete guide of replacement parts for your notebook here: HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC - Maintenance and Service Guide. You can order parts directly from hp at the HP Part Surfer website, or third party sites like Amazon or eBay. If the part you are looking for is not listed in here it would not be available from HP and you would need to depend on third party vendors.
To be honest, in this type of scenario you've described you typically need a motherboard replacement and I would suggest contacting HP Phone Support to set up service. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the following link to get the support number for your region: Phone Assist Worldwide.

    Hi guys
Am new in the forums but i beleive somebody somewhere has a solution for the following: a client tried updating the firmware for the above printer but ended up with the message, "Firmware corrupt Ready 2 download". Is there any combinations of buttons to press to do a cold reset?

    Hi @Mst2015 ,
I see by your post that after doing a firmware update on the printer, the printer displays "firmware corrupt ready 2 download". I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
I can send you that information in a private message.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
You should always do the firmware update by a USB connection.
Please let me know if you require any additional assistance.
    Have a fantastic day!
    Thank You.

  • Display is corrupted for GDM / Gnome (ATI card)

I've done a clean install of Arch on a Toshiba laptop, but when gdm starts the display is corrupted with lots of strange artefacts (diagonal slashes across the screen, that sort of thing). Previously Gnome/GDM worked fine on this same laptop.
When I try running startx with xorg-twm installed, the screen displays fine, so I don't think it can be an Xorg problem per se.
Any help will be gratefully received!

Am running the latest 64-bit kernel and have latest xf86-video-ati driver installed. System is generally up to date - though the problem goes back to when I did the install two or three weeks ago, so it's not to do with any new version since then.

  • Display Suddenly Corrupted

I just replaced my old iPod with an 80GB, which has been great for the 11 days I have had it, but suddenly the display became corrupted. At first it seemed like the contrast was too high (basically a white screen), but then the menu came on, but with poor resolution and some flickering on the screen. Has anyone else had this? I tried a hard reset and drained then charged the battery.
I am in China (Shanghai), but the service website for China is in Chinese (which I don't read), so I cannot locate a service center. Advice?

  • High Quality Display -appears corrupted

    Hello,
I have a problem with High Quality display of placed TIF files (InDesign CS3 5.0.4). When viewed at high magnification the image is replaced by a solid black with diagonal black & white lines across the top section.
I've read through the archives of display performance issues and tried the suggestions, but have been unsuccessful in resolving the issue:
    1) Restored preferences
Ensured the following options are selected:
    2) Object Display Performance > High Quality
    3) View > Display Performance > Allow Object Level Display Settings
Placement of the image is critical with what I do, so because the issue is normally associated with CMYK TIFs I can usually use a Gray TIF to position correctly, then replace this with the CMYK version. However, the more complex the layout becomes, the Gray TIF too becomes "corrupted" at a high zoom factor. Of course, the exported PDF is always true, but I really need to view truly at high magnification in InDesign.
I close all other applications to ensure it is not a RAM problem, but to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core Duo
    3GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    Mac OS X 10.4.11

    Marvin,
The TIF file in this example consists of a repeating sequence of adjacent columns in the following configuration: 8 white pixel, 7 black pixels.
This pattern repeats across the width of the file.
I've attached one of these files below. Please try to view it at 4000% when placed in InDesign.
(Please note that this problem also occurs with photographic images as well).
If I then crop the attached file in Photoshop, re-save and place in InDesign it will preview correctly at 4000%.
If I leave it at its original dimensions, but convert to a Gray TIF, it will preview correctly -for a while, but eventually also become "corrupted". As I mentioned in my initial post, I've had to use a Grey TIF to get the placement correct, then replace with the CMYK TIF version. Saving with and without LZW compression makes no difference. The fact that the Grey version works temporarily has got me confused. As it happens, for the moment anyway, a narrow width file in CMYK is previewing okay, but then in the past I've used TIFs just ~100 mm wide and had the same problem.

  • 2/3rds of all versions are displayed totally corrupted

    Bizarre time.
I may need to reinstall Aperture (just ran a rebuild to no effect). Here's what's happening:
    - When I first open a library, the versions are displayed correctly. After reviewing a few versions, the histogram goes moves to the right like a rolling wave and the image gets blown out.
    - Close and re-open and the same.
    - Open a different library and again the versions look OK, but after a few mins., these corrupt also.
    - The RAW master images display fine despite the version being blown out
    - The version levels histogram remains consistent with a valid image despite the topmost histogram being pushed to the right.
Anyone else seen something/anything like this? Only just put 10.5.5 up so maybe ....
    PMG5 Quad w/ATI x1900G5 and OS X 10.5.5
    G

    Hi Don,
Yes its 10.5.5 and graphics card combo. I'm not sure it is levels as I tweak almost all of them but you may well be on to something.
I blew Aperture away (completely down to items in System/Library) and reinstalled from 2.0 with 2.1.1 update. No joy.
I copied the library and ref. master images to a MBPro and a MBAir, both running 10.5.5 and Ap 2.1.1 ..... all OK. So my next task is to remove the ATI graphics card and reinstall the boat anchor nVidia 6600.

  • ATI Displays rotate corrupted screen display

I'm running Mac OS Tiger and running AT Displays 4.5.6 and I tried to use the rotate command. I am not running an external monitor. Now the screen is rotated but totally garbled except for the mouse pointer. Even if I restart the PowerBook the screen gets messed up just before the log-in so I can't change the preference back. The computer is unusable in this condition.
I am able to start-up the computer via an eDrive I had created on a separate partition so I know the PowerBook still works fine and I can access the hard drive, but what files do I remove to get rid of this problem? Or is there some other way to get around this?

mine did this too. It used to not be a problem under 10.4.2, but the one time I tried it after upgrading to 10.4.3 it did it, I ain't trying it again.
I paniced a bit too, however, all you have to do is start up without the extensions loading (cmd shift at login). At that point my display became usuable again. I tried narrowing the pref file down, but didn't nail it - after removing all the prefs, then slowly adding them back 50% at a time through restarts I couldn't reestablish it, so I presume that one of the prefs file was remade for a standard orientation, and slipped through my net.
I repeat though, it does NOT require a reinstall, but until it's resolved, I shan't be trying to rotate the screen for better bedtime movie watching
    cheers

  • Display driver corrupted?

Hi I hope someone could help me on this
I have a mac mini and today after I installed an software update(Missing Sync for Palm), after rebooting, the display resolution has changed, the symptoms are:
    1. the screen becomes larger than the actual display, so it is like My monitor can only view a portion of the whole desktop, and when I move my mouse cursor to a certain direction, the screen will move to that part correspondingly.
    2. the overall display quality is worse, texts and images are not as sharp as before, this is quite noticeable.
So i have tried the following , but none helped
    1. remove the causing software using appzap
    2. clear PRAM NRAM
    3. adjust display resolution and freq( no matter what resolution I use, the problem still exists)
    4. repair disk permissions
Please HELP, thanks a lot in advance.

    Press Command-Option-8 once or twice.

  • JSP - Encoding problem? Euro currency values display become corrupted

    Hi
We are having problem on our web application when trying to displaying euro currency.
    A expected string such as "229 810,00 € " is displayed as "229 810,00 €".
Note that the page encoding is UTF-8, the line "<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />" is present in the header. Manually changing encoding to UTF-8 in browser did not fix the problem.
We have also noticed that when we deploy the same application in tomcat, we do not have this problem. The Euro currency is displayed correctly.
Are we missing some settings in our WebLogic Application Server that causes this problem?

    RobertNash,
Which one is giving the corruption? The 5700 or the 9500?
You are not really clear on this. Also what happens when you put it in the other comp?

When I open any of the Online Services (city guides, Qype, weather, etc.) in Ovi maps on my N8, the information displayed is corrupted with big graphic blocks and the text formatted in odd ways. I'm on version 3.06. This was raised on another thread and solved by installing PR 1.1 but I've done this and it's not made any difference. Has anybody got another solution?

Sorry for any confusion over this, you do have the latest available version of OVI Maps installed and unfortunately don't know best way forward to resolve this issue.
Is N8 running PR1.0 or PR1.1 as might be opportunity to re-install device firmware?
