Display interval variables value in BeX

Hello Gurus,
I am using Bex BI 7.0 to build my reports. I can't see how to display the value of variable values I have selected in the beginning of the query.
To clarify with an example I want to choose the period from January to March and to display this selection in the report I have built.
The only way I was thinking about was to create a Text variable to display in the title of the query but I noticed it displays only single value and don't manage interval like these.
Is there any other tricks?

Very good Jaya. I have solved my problem and I rewarded it. The only problem that still remains with this feature is that in a query I use a filtered key figure to obtain cumulated value for period. The "from period" is fixed (january) and the "to period" is given by my period variable.
I noticed that in this case the text variable return me no value. Is there any another trick to manage text variable in filtered key figure like that?

Hello everyone,
I am using the Bex Web Application Designer to broadcast a report in PDF format.
In my WebTemplate, in the Info_Field_Item, i have to display a variable value : Company code.
My problem is in the PDF generated.
When the number of company code is 4, the result in the PDF is like this:
Company code : Company1; Company2; Company3; Company4.
But, when the number of companies is more than 4, for example 8, the result in the PDF is displayed like this:
Company code : Company1
Company code : Company2
Company code : Company3
Company code : Company4
Company code : Company8
It makes a problem of harmonization of reports, i tried many tests, but the result still the same.
Please, can somone knows how to change it, the PDF result must be like this way (watever the number of companies):
Company code : Company1; Company2; Company3; Company4; Company5; ...; Company8

I made many tests in the Bex Broadcaster, but always the same issue.
Also, i modified the size of the INFO FIELD ITEM, but it changes nothing in the final result.
May be, there is a solution by modifiying the XHTML generated code in the Bex Web Applicatin Designer, especially the concerned line, but i don't knwo how to do, may be somone?
the concerned line is like this:

3) scroll down to the specific properties for the item - in that uncheck the first two check boxes - display general text elements & display static filter values
4) in the next item in the properties (List of text elements) click once on the box where List is written and then clcik on the small browse button that appears.
5) in the window that opens, in the element type field, select variable/variable value as key (as per your requirement) and then under the element ID field type in the technical name of your variable that you want to display.
click ok and save your template and try executing it.
See if this solves your problem.

How to display a variable value in WAD?

I am using a replacement path variable to filter a report by project number. While this works fine, the project number is not easily visible (only via Filter -> Display All Filter Values and this only displays the description, not the key).
How can I display the key and the description of the project number variable at the top of the report?

BEx broadcaster precalculation variable value shows BEx web analyser iview

Hi Experts,
I'm getting this very weird problem on BEx Broadcaster in BI production portal. In BEx Broadcaster, the general precalculation tab, variable value create /change link when clicked show BEx Web Analyser iview instead of variable entry screen.
This was working fine until two days back when this problem started showing up.
Users are not able to create new broadcast settings in the production environment nor able to change variables of existing setting which is casuing lot of problem.
If anyone has faced this issue before please let me know how can this be resolved? Also it will be greatly appreciated if someone can explain how the link is calling the variable entry screen.

Variable Values in BEX Analyzer 3.5

Hello,
I have a query that has a user input variable for a country.
The first time I run the query I select GB.
I run the query again and select FR.
All fine so far.
The third time I run the query I notice that the variable value has changed back to GB. It has not remained as FR which was my last selection.
This happens for all variables that I am using. Is there a setting or offset that is awry?

Not quite what I had in mind as now I can't view any of my variables when refeshing the query.
I just need variable values to remain constant unless I change them but, I still want to view them before executing the query.

Display compounded InfoObject value in BEX selection screen

Hi people,
Problem in 7.0
I have Costcenter compounded with Plant and I am using Costcenter for Selections in the BEx varaible screen.
After running the report, in the selection screen value help, only the value of Costcenter is displayed, not the compounded value (So it becomes very difficult to identify from which plant the costcenter is from)
What should I do so that the User sees as Plant/Costcenter in the Value help?
Problem in 3.5
The above issue is not there in 3.5, but.......
I select COSTCENTER X from PLANT A and execute the report. In the report output, I do not see the records only for COSTCENTER X from PLANT A, but for COSTCENTER X from all Plants
why is this? Is it how this works or is it a bug?

Authorization Variable values in BEX.

Hi all,
I have a report with an authorization object (for example 0COUNTRY) restricted to an authorization variable.
The object restricts the report according to the user's role. I want a user, with multiple country authorization, to be able to run the report on a few countries that he is authorized to see. For example he is authorized to see US DE FR & CH, and wants to run the report on DE & FR.
So, I created the authorization variable "Ready for Input", but now when the user runs the report he can insert other values but when he click on the options he can choose from (F4),he can't see the texts (DE - Germany, FR - France) and he gets the message:
"BRAIN655 - No values available or not authorized to display"

I've done these steps when I createted this object long ago. I have no problem with the authorization itself. it works great.
You are right, the selection option window shows the values US DE FR & CH, but I want the user to see the description also (when pressing F4) so he will be able to tell which countries to choose . that is when the message pops up.
It is like the user does not have the authorization to view the 0COUNTRY values and their texts.

How to set variable value in BEX analyzer for IP Layout

Hi All,
   I have created a simple planning function to copy data from one account to another and I have used mandatory selection variable for Fiscal year /period. When I execute the planning function through Planning modeler I get the prompt for the variable and the planning functions execute without errors and return the values. But now when I design the Bex workbook using my Input ready query that have button to execute the planning function,I don't get the prompt for the mandatory selection variable. I need to set the variable vaule in design mode then the function return the values. Is there way to get the prompt for the variable when I choose to execute the planning function. Also is there a option in Web application designer too?
Please let me know what I'm missing.

I created a report in Bex analyzer ( Excel).

i put text item there and click on it but in filter tab there is no variable is exist.

How I can gain the variable value in web-application?

I have a web-template with several web-item. The data provider refers to a query with a variable screen.
After the report run and the table is displayed, i have need to set a paticular filter-item with the variable value that i put in pop-up screen.

Hi Ciro,
in the Web item properties of the Text element web item you can specifically select in the ITEM_LIST a list of text elements. For variables you can choose if you want to display text or key values. This should work for the print template.
With the Excel display I'm a bit unsure. There is a BEx Function called SAPBEXshowTextElements that allows you to display the variable values. I just don't know if you can execute it in the SAPBEXonRefresh. You can find additional information in the BW help under Business Explorer->Analysis & Reporting: BEx Analyzer->Queries in Workbooks->Integration with Visual Basic for Application (in the BW 3.1 documentation).
Another thing that might work is to add another navigational attribute to the needed InfoObjects with reference to the InfoObject. While loading Master Data you can fill the navigational attribute with the same value as the characteristic. Then you can drag the variable into the filter and put the Navigational attribute into the query.
Example: You have the IO 0COSTCENTER that you want to put a filter on. Create an IO COSTC_N (Costcenter Navigation) with reference to 0COSTCENTER and insert it into 0COSTCENTER as navigational attribute. While loading Master Data for 0COSTCENTER fill COSTC_N from 0COSTCENTER.
In the query put COSTC_N into the filter box and create a fitting variable. 0COSTCENTER can now be displayed in the rows and the filter values for COSTC_N are displayed in the query.

Default value of BeX customer Exit variable not Displayed in WeBI??

Hello Experts,
We are stuck with a problem where WeBI report is created on top of BeX query and we are not able to see the default value of Bex Customer exit variable in WeBI run. Here is the complete scenario:
1. One restricted KF is created in BeX, restricted with Customer exit variable on net Due date. And this variable is mandatory, ready for input, and Default value in calculated is user exit as current Week's Monday.
2. So, by default KF data should be restricted to Monday of current week, if user does not change this value.
3. Now, WeBI report is created on top of this Bex query, and all is working fine, i.e. we are getting variable as Prompt in WeBI, but Default value is not shown while Running the Webi Report.
So, need your inputs on the same, if default values from BeX in WeBI is supported or not? If yes, why this is happening, and how to resolve it?
Please notice, the restrcition is in KF only, it is not a separate restrcition on Net Due date in Filter area or in Defualt area of BeX
and we are on SAP BW 7.1 and BOXI 3.1 SP4.

See 1285993 - Support of Customer Exit Variables from BEx query into WebIntelligence via OLAP universe
WebI will prompt when executed, but the default values calculated by the user exit - do not appear.
Note: If the BEx variable has property 'ready for input' set / enabled, then its WebI prompt shows ok, but no default value appears.
Cause
This behaviour expected 'by design' (in the context of the product's current limitations) as explained in the online guide below:

Characteristic variable > processing type > Customer Exit is "Supported, without user entry"

BICS - Passing Mandatory Filter Variable value to a BEx Query

I have similar problem as the below URL.

I have a mandatory filter - Display Currency in BEx query. I'm trying to input this mandatory filter from Xcelsius, (by mapping the filter value to a cell in Xcelsius spreadsheet).
However, when I lauch the dashvoard in IE page, it still throws an error:
" One or more mandatory varaibles of the query... are not filled"
Does anyone face this issue?

1. What are all the Variables you get in intial variable screen?
because if you have a Mandatory variable in your Bex query, a intial variable screen will appear with all the variables.
>> I'm testing the underlying BEx query, it has one mandatory variable for "Display Currency". Other are optional variable-filters, so other filters are not a problem.
2. when you get this error "One or more mandatory varaibles of the query... are not filled", just after the Launch or after the variable screen?

3. However you can bye pass this screen only when you give default values to your mandatory variables.
>> When I use personalization in BEx side, to input default value (e.g: USD), and then run this standard content dashboard, the hangs.(Do not see anything on IE page for long time. Though the data is very less-Few hundres rows)
So, I'm looking at passing the value from Xcelsius-spreadsheet, however, the dashboard is not picking up the value from the mapped-cell.
