Display is too big

When I came in the plug on my monitor was loose and the screen was getting no power. I got the plug to power the monitor, but now the display is larger than before. Whereas a website used to fit on the screen, now it is too big and I have to scroll over to read the whole page and get the tool bar. Zoom was not activated and is set at the lowest level. How can I get the computer to go back to its compact display?

Just out of curiosity....
Did you ever figure this out?
I am having a similar problem all of a sudden....
(My daughter played a game & she must have changed my settings somehow because everything on my computer is now huge! I really have no clue how to reset it, either....)

The display is too big for my screen. For instance I can't see the left most column of the keyboard.

Check you TV aspect ratio or zoom settings via the TV remote.

  • Display is too big, can't see the menu bar.

I have a 32" tv that i connected it to my mac pro. I see te display, but it is too big. I can't see the menu bar. I've tried changing the resolution, holding control and scrolling, and changing the display size on the tv settings. Any suggestions?

If there are no size settings on the TV that work (some TVs don't have the correct settings) see if there are Overscan or Underscan settings in the Mac's Displays system preference.

  • Display is too big for screen on start up

When I turn on my macbook, the disply is too big, and I can't see the right 3 inches of my screen.  When I put it to sleep and bring it back up, it correctly fits on the disply.  Any ideas why this does this, and how to correct it? It has been doing this several months now.
    -Thanks!

Ha, figured it out myself from another discussion forum finally. Thoght I'd share in case anyone else runs into this. They must have hit "Zoom" by htting the "Control" and scroll buttons at the same time..
    Resolution:
You can zoom out by holding down the Option and Command buttons on the keyboard and, while you hold them down, pressing the - key.

  • When firefox is loaded the display is too big for the screen & blocks out controls

When I load Firefox Home, the display is too large to fit into the screen making it impossible to see the controls (Toolbar and log-out cross etc) This has only just happened, everything was working perfectly until about an hour ago

Open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can resize that window.
If that works then close Firefox (File > Exit/Quit) to save that setting.

  • E-mail messages print font too small display font too big

I recently upgraded to OSX 10.4.9 and tried to print an e-mail message.
The message printed in microscopic sized font and I followed the suggestions on the HELP section about increasing font size.
With display font set at 24 the printed message is just barely readable. However, this is unacceptable for display purposes and actually still too small for printed copies of the message.
I connect to an Epson CX4600 printer as a network device on my Apple AirPort Extreme card.
What can I do to print acceptable copies and not have to tinker with the display font every time I want to print?
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Printer Epson 4600

I tried all the options in Help File in Mail Printing Email Messages
Options were "keep the same apparentfont size" didn't change a thing.
Scale message to fit = result was smaller size font,
Rewrap message to fit, didn't change a thing.
I still can't print out a readable copy of the email.
This particular Email wouldn't even copy correctly into Word so that I could adjust it there, it kept getting cut off and I changing the margin tabs didn't help either.

  • Display resolution too big at startup

After updating ITunes, every time I boot the computer up, the screen display/resolution is at least twice as large as it should be. Not a problem before. It fixes itself by closing the lap top for approx 15 seconds ... or going into System Prefereces/Display and adjusting. Any suggetions to have it boot up correctly again?

Reset PRAM to set the behaviour to factory default, including the native resolution.
    Good Luck.

  • My display is too big, what do I do?

I reset the PRAM and booted in safe mode, but nothing works. The icons are huge. I can't seem to get the display to reset to the proper screen size. Has anyone had this issue?
I was working in Photoshop and was resizing an image display (command +) and somehow that kicked the entire display over the top. Help!

OK then you probably accidentaly turned on Zoom. Please read this article, it will show you how to turn it back off.

  • Apple TV Picture now too big for the 16/9 screen, wrong resolution ?

Now that I've added a new Samsung Home Theatre system to my new Samsung 46" HDTV, the Apple
TV picture is displaying way too big, cutting off about 1/2 the picture!?! The resolution seems to be set wrong ( 720 ?). The other inputs DVD and DirectTV display OK. I have the TV set for 16x9. It was working fine before I plugged the AppleTV into the new Home Theatre System. I then tried replugging the AppleTV directly into the TV's other HDMI port but the problem still remains.I can't find any way of readjusting the resolution. Any suggestions ?

Problem solved. It's a faulty HDMI port on my TV.
I have been plagued by intermittent random problems with my old Apple TV, especially where there was a blank screen but audio could be heard - solved by a restart. Then today I got the new Apple TV and it displayed as though there was overscan (actually - way more than overscan should cause now that I can see what it SHOULD look like). The final piece of the puzzle was trying to play content purchased previously on iTunes - no HDCP. Finally something pointing to the HDMI connection. I did a bit of troubleshooting - swapping cables, swapping HDMI ports and problem solved. Of the 3 HDMI ports on my TV - when the Apple TV is plugged into port 2 I get this massive overscan and HDCP doesn't work. In ports 1 and 3 it works perfectly. Thankfully the problem with the new Apple TV was consistent enough for me to easily diagnose the problem - unlikely the random nature of the issues I was having with the old Apple TV. Time for a new TV - hurrah! (it's under warranty...)

  • A document page opens that is too big for the display and runs off the end of the monitor

How do you fix a problem where document pages open that are too big for the display and runs off the end of the monitor? The borders are off the monitor so there is no window edge to grab and adjust.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Display too big!

Display prob: Suddenly the display (menus, etc.) is magnified so much I can't see the whole screen, too big to be able to scroll side to side, can't un-zoom. Assume I'm doing something to make it happen.  Any ideas to prevent? or to fix short of powering off?  Thx!

Thank you!  Didn't know about the 3-finger trick!  Now that I know, I'm leaving Zoom on in Settings-Accessibility.  (Couldn't get to that in menu while it was so big.)
    Thanks to all who replied.

  • NB305 first time setup display too big for screen

I just bought an NB305-310 netbook  (two, actually, and the first one had no trouble). It came loaded with Windows XP.  When I turned it on I wasn't able to set it up right away, when I came back to it, I found the display of the welcome screens and the setup process assistant is too big for the screen, as if it thinks it has to fill a 15" or 17" screen instead of 10".  So I can't see to click on the "I agree" box or the "Next" button etc., so can't proceed through the setup.
I already tried restarting it a couple times (by holding down the power key, since Control-Alt-Delete didn't do anything).  I also tried using the function key with various keys that looked like they might affect display size but no change.  Even the volume function keys didn't change the volume of the setup background music that plays.
    How can I fix this?
    Thank you!

Try this. Press Alt + Spacebar to open the control menu (which may be off the screen) at the top-left of a window.
    Then press M (for Move).
That will enable you to move the window using the arrow keys.
When you get the chance, you'll want to go here and reset the screen resolution to 1024 x 600.

  • Field Length too big to display

    Hi
We have a scenario where the wrong unit of measure was used and resulted in numbers that were too big to display on deliveries and reports eg 555, 000, 000, 000, 000.00.  We are now changing the UOM for the affected PNs but wondered if anybody has any other solutions on how SAP can cope with displaying fields that are too large for its defined length for all the old deliveries created previously.  Currently these hit run time display errors.  We have already extended the field length once but need a more robust solution in case there are any more materials like this.
    Thanks

Extending the field length would not make the error going away. Instead it makes it easier for the user to enter wrong units and conversions. As SAP will less often dump, you will encounter your errors much later than now.
analyse your materials and correct the wrong entries, conversions to alternative units are stored in table MARM

  • Desktop is too big for the display

Some how this morning while on my Mac a display setting or something was changed. If your on the desktop, with all windows closed, the background, icons, dock.....everything is too big for the display. If you move the cursor all the way to left it will 'slide' the desktop in that direction. Move it all the way to the right edge of the display and it 'slides' the desktop to the right until you reach the edge. Also the same for the up or down directions.
At first I thought it had something to do with the multi-touch track pad, but I don't think so. I have checked all the display settings I can think of and have tried re-sizing the desktop to all other settings in an attempt to fix the problem. Additionally I have restarted/shutdown the computer totally to see if it would fix the issue. No success. Please help.
    Thx,
    Audioboy

I had the same problem, but the zoom was already off. So I went under "options" and unchecked "use scroll wheel with modifier keys to zoom," and that took care of it.
Thought that might help some others who find this thread.
