DISPLAY many pictures

I want to display many picture (gif, jpg) in a window with their names (all to be shrink to the same size). i also want to be able to select one of the pictures (just one at a time). how can I do it?
(p.s- the problem is with the way to display them, no to laod from the Hard Disc...)
note that I'm working with SWT...

There's a bug in iPhoto 9.5.1 and Mavericks that affects slideshows played directly from an album. The slideshow will not play correctly if the photos have been sorted manually. Any other type of sort, date, rating, keyword or title, will play correctly.
If you need that manual sort of pictures for your slideshow create the slideshow in iPhoto's slideshow mode.

On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running? Have you updated 13 to 13.1 yet using an opened project's Help Menu/Updates?

You have not given us enough information with which to help you.
What are the properties of your source file that is presenting in the project with audio but no video?
Quickest way to gain that information is from brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video.

What does the file's thumbnail look like in Project Assets after it is imported....thumbnail with no image (gray), thumbnail with only an audio icon

Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer along with Premiere Elements 13/13.1? Are you running the programs as
administrator?

Can I install photoshop elements 11 on an external hard drive? I need more space to work on my many pictures and would be using them on my desktop. This operates on Windows 7

The program and catalog work best on the C drive but you can have your photos on an external hard drive, provided you keep the drive connected to the same USB port when using Elements.
You can also drag and drop existing photos/folders to the external hard drive - but you need to do this within Organizer not in Windows Explorer.

Reload the page. If it doesn't load, choose Activity from Safari's Window menu, find that picture in the list, and see what it says to the right; this may reveal what the problem is.

Displaying a picture or image in a java server page

I am using tomcat to load my java server pages. I need to display a picture in the page. Can somebody help?

The images are not located on my site, or computer, but rather they are located on different websites. This is what the browser recieves when the jsp runs:
<IMG SRC="http://www.thesite.com/images/theimage.gif"/>
and the site that is running the JSP is:
www.mysite.com/jsp/PicPage.jsp
Is this what you think maybe happening when the browser tries to process the linked image:
www.mysite.com/images/theimage.gif
I don't really understand the nuances of HTML, but if I specify a web address completely in the HTML then wouldn't that specified website be queried for the pictures by the web browser?

BNN, even though I understand what KT is saying, your thought resonates with mine. When it comes to building and maintaining my website, I see myself more as a photographer than as a web designer. Hence, even though Apple may not be actively developing (and we are guessing on this one, arent we) iWeb, the existing functionality should do plenty of good to me for next couple years at least.
That said, they released a point update a few days back and with the whole cloud thing building momentum and mobile me going for free, why would Apple want to pull the plug on such a fantastic product?

Open multitasking by double tapping the home button (at the bottom), a row of apps you've recently used should appear, tap and hold the photos app until it wiggles and displays an x, tap the x to close and then reopen the camera roll app. Let me know if it works. It's odd and frustrating, I know.

Then iPhoto has probably opened a new, empty library, because it could not find or access your iPhoto library. What happens, whiny double-click the Library to open it directly?
Where is your iPhoto library stored? Is it in the Pictures folder or on an external drive?

[SOLVED] VIM not displaying many glyphs

I'm struggling to get the full glyph set to display in VIM. Particularly missed are the mathematical super- and sub-script. I've worked on the problem and tried various fixes for displaying UTF-8 characters without success.
(Code block bad form? Ok T. IMHO. There's that type of post where the OP doesn't know why something isn't working and they quote a dump truck of details, even though they're not sure what's relevant and what isn't. And the longer the quote, the harder it is to figure out what they're doing wrong. I didn't want to be that guy. Linux fonts are a muddle. Consoles can only display 256 characters, maybe 512. You simply cannot display many texts in a console. To navigate through the font mess in X, you need some familiarity with fontconfig. Xft uses fontconfig to select fonts. Fontconfig documentation is not user-friendly.
Droid is a family of fonts. My installation of the Droid family includes 27 different fonts. The command fc-list will list fonts matching a pattern. I usually filter the output by piping through grep. To list the Droid fonts, file name first followed by the fontconfig name, I use:
$ fc-list | grep Droid
Your fc-match results for Droid are from fontconfig doing its best to give you a readable display. Fontconfig cannot find a matching font for the name 'Droid', so it falls back to a "safe" font, 'Bitstream Vera Sans'.
XTerm or UXTerm or URxvt
I have my locale correctly configured, I think. I do not see any real advantage for uxterm over xterm. In my X resources, I include the lines,

XTerm*locale: true
For good glyph coverage with xterm, I have found 'DejaVu Sans Mono' to be among the better fonts. If I truly need utf8 coverage, I use urxvt. Urxvt allows one to use a ladder of fonts. If the character is not found in the first font listed, urxvt will search through the other listed fonts until it finds a glyph that can be displayed.

I just upgraded to iPhoto '11. When it was finished many pictures do not appear. I have a black box but the information for the picture is still there. Some are raw and some are jpeg. Also lost all albums. Can anyone offer assistance?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Iphoto not displaying some pictures

For some reason, and this is recent, if I try to display a picture within iphoto, it just shows a doted square with an "!" in the middle. Preview brings the files up just fine. What gives?

Here's your problem then:
One additional item I need to add that may give you more information is that my wife and I use the same iphoto library with different user accounts in the imac. I have the library located on the users\shared folder and her user and mine have read/write access to it.
This form of Sharing is deprecated in 10.5 unless you're using iPhoto 09 (specifically v8.0.2) What you're having is a permissions issue caused by the ACL's used in Leopard. iPhoto cannot access the version of the Folder it needs.
You need to either:
1. Upgrade to iPhoto 09 (v8.0.2)
or
2. Change the system of Sharing you use:
What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc. The problem here is that OS X works very hard to keep your data safe and secure from the other users. You're trying to beat what's built in to the system. So, to beat the system
Quit iPhoto in both accounts
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to an external HD set to ignore permissions. You could also use a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.
In each account in turn: Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue, select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new library location. From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
Lastly: This method seems a little clunky at first, but works very well. Most importantly, it uses the System to do the job for you.
Create a new Account on your Mac, call it Media. Create an iPhoto Library there. (BTW: This will work for iTunes too.)
Enable Sharing on the Library:(Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other accounts. In those accounts, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. The Library will appear in the other source pane.
This means that both users will be able to see the pics. If you want to use a pic then simply drag it from the shared Library to your own in the iPhoto Window. This means that each user can have their own edits.
If you want to add photos to the Library: Log into the Media account for that purpose.
To make it all seamless: Set your Mac to log into the Media Account automatically. Set iPhoto to launch on log-in. Then switch to your own account using Fast User Switching.
Net result: a Library that's permanently available to all users but also protected. Each user can have their own versions of the pics if they want.
No partitioning, no permissions issues. Uses no extra disk space. What's not to like?

Shooting data not transfering with many pictures

I am using iPhoto 6.0.6 on OS 10.6.6
I have noticed that shooting data is missing from many pictures. I can import pictures in to iphoto and some will have the shooting data while others do not. Some times the dates are not right as well, but for some of these I know I did not have the date function on my camera activated. With the shooting data what is really confusing is that while I do not see it in iphoto the same pictures viewed with Preview have the data. Some times I even have to pull dates and data viewable in Preview for the purpose of organizing my pictures in iPhoto. Why does preview read this information while iPhoto often does not.
My pictures I am downloading from a card reader on to my desktop and then using the iPhoto Import to Library function to get the folders and pictures I need in to my library.

if that it is the case, then you are not set to sync with outlook.
that's why you are not seeing the items you wanted to see transferred after the hotsync process.
your data is now transferred to the palm desktop software which is located in your desktop.
if you will open it, you can see your data in there.
to set it to outlook, try going to Start>Programs>Palm>PIM Conduit Sync>Sync with Outlook.
if that option is not there probably you are using the software from the CD.
load the CD again and it will show GUI window in which you have to option to select which application you want to manage your data, palm desktop or outlook.
you choose outlook, just follow the onscreen instructions then finish. once you are done, check the custom settings of the hotsync manager and check if it now has the word outlook on it. once it's there, you can perform another sync. just cross your fingers that you will not encounter OLERR errors when syncing because that's common to outlook synchchronization. there are are so many causes and it's very long if put in details.
