Display moves with my mouse.

I've never seen this happen before and I can't seem to find this anywhere in the support pages.. when I log in my display is normal at first but then after everything on the desktop loads up, my display suddenly gets bigger and it moves in the opposite direction of my mouse. When I move my cursor upwards, the dock is hidden. When I move it down, the top menu is hidden. Everything also gets blurry. I've tried disabling my mouse and shutting down but those don't work. I've also checked my display settings and they seem correct. Any ideas on what I've done wrong here?

Ah that worked.. not sure how my zoom was turned on and I'm glad it was something so simple. Thank you very much

  • Every time I move my mouse, my entire desktop moves with the mouse!!!!!!

Wow - I have no idea what's going on. I was surfing the net and all of a sudden when I move my mouse everything I see moves with it. I've tried restarting, shut down, etc. I tried restarting with Disk Warrior holding down c and then it disappears - but Warrior says my disk is too severely damaged to repair? So I restart again and when my desktop appears all my icons shift off the screen. Again, I move my mouse and everything moves with it -PLEASE HELP!!!

It sounds like your display is zoomed. Open System Preferences, Universal Access window. You will probable see that "Zoom" is set to "On". You can either turn it off there, or use the hotkey combination cmd-option-8 to toggle Zooming. See there is also a hotkey for zooming in and out. You must have hit the "zoom in" hotkey inadvertently.
If you click the "Options" button, you see the settings that are causing the window to relocate. At the bottom, you probably have "Continuously with pointer" selected.
I should mention that 10.4.9 has two odd glitches that cause the display to shift around, these are probably soon-to-be-implemented features in 10.5.

  • All of a sudden my diplay appears to be larger than the screen. The display scrolls with the mouse. How to correct?

My screen scrolls with the mouse to show the entire display. Looks like the display is larger than the monitor. Have no idea what teh cause ws but have been unable to correct. Any suggestions?

    Thank you.

  • My Screen Moves with my Mouse

My 1 year old got to my keyboard and banged away for a few seconds before I could reach him. Now my screen is expanded and moves with the movement of my mouse. I have no idea what he did and can't seem to fix it. Any advice? Thanks!

    Hello Jenni
Pretty smart for a 1 year old, hold the control key and roll the scroll ball down
or try ⌥⌘8 (option command 8)

  • Screen moves with the mouse !

Since few weeks the screen of my iMac G4 800mHz( Flat Panel 17") acts curiosly: It moves along with the mouse mouvement.
When I move the cursor to the right, the screen moves few pixels to the left.
Inversely, if I move it to the left, the screen moves to the right.
Same thing in the vertical axis.
I tried to change the resolution and the problem persists.
    What should I do ?

It sounds like you have accidentally activated zoom.
You can disable zoom in System Preferences->Universal Access preference pane.

  • IMac as an external display, problem with trackpad/mouse pairing

    Hi,
I am trying to use the imac as an external display for a macbook air, which is well supported/advertised by apple.
I can toggle the display easily between the imac and the macookair, the problem I’m having is that I only have one wireless keyboard and one wireless trackpad. As I toggle the display, the paring/unpairing of both trackpad and mouse is a real hastle becuase I have to manually go into bluetooth preferences and adjust the settings for both devices.
Anyone using the imac as external display with an idea/suggestion how to make this process more friendly?
Thank in advance for any help.

I don't think you can.  Wish I had better news.  Target display mode for non-thunderbolt 27" Imacs worked OK.  I have done it myself on a late 2009 iMac.  The new iMacs can only go into target display mode when connected thunderbolt to thunderbolt.  So a new macbook or macbook air can do the trick but your dell can't.  What you can do is remote desktop or VNC to the dell.  Now your dell screen will show up but in a smaller window.

  • How do I create an object that moves with the mouse?

I don't use Flash a lot, so things like this confuse me...
I'm trying to code so that an object, mostly likely a circle, moves
around when the mouse moves. Also, I want it to disappear when the
mouse leaves the screen. Can anybody help me do this?
    Thanks.

circle_mc is the instance name of the circle, so just change
it to be whatever you want it to be.
One thing with that, you may want to have the image centered
within the stage of the movieclip, otherwise it will appear to be
following the mouse by the corner of it.

  • Display movie with Apple pro

I read that 2nd display (Digital Cinema Desktop) is only supported via AGP video cards. I am about to buy a new Mac Pro (shipped with PCI Express video card). Does anyone know how I can display the video on an external HD TV while working with Logic Pro 8? Or is there any better solution for this matter?

    Hello guys,
Please note that to be able to play your purchased HD movies or videos, let us not forget some minor details. Ensure that your iTunes software is up-to-date. HD videos will only play if you have iTunes 10.6 or later as described in this article:
iTunes: Purchasing and viewing HD videos
You might also want to check this one:
iTunes for Windows: Unable to view or play HD video content that requires HDCP
I hope this helps a lot! Good luck!

  • Desktop moves with mouse!

A friend reported to me from work that when she mouses, the whole desktop on her computer (10.4.11, but not sure what model, maybe a G4 tower) moves with the mouse movement! Is this a known issue? Any solution?

    Hi there,
It sounds as if she might have accidently enabled the zoom feature. This can be toggled on and off using the cmdoption8 combination or in the 'Universal Access' pane of System Preferences. The zoom level can be controlled with the cmdoption'=' or cmdoption'-' keyboard combinations.

  • Whole screen is dragging with the mouse

I have a 23" cinema display - whenever I drag the mouse the whole display moves with it, not as the actual monitor, but the desktop on the screen - the menu bar and everything moves off if I move the mouse up and the menu bar moves down if I move the mouse down !
It looks a little lacking in sharpness
I have restarted / run tech tool pro etc to no avail - running the latest version of 10.4 with a G5
and have been to the displays in system preferences and all is set as it should be, I believe.
Is there a file that could have been corrupted ? Any help appreciated.....

Open the Universal Access pane of System Preferences, click on Seeing, and turn off Zoom.

  • Display problems with .OBJ files

    Hi everybody,
I load some .OBJ files with the objectfile loader, it works good, but when I look at the objects, there's some polygons error : the display is not really good. When I use the zoom, the polygons seems to move : I think that there is a problem of z-ordering, because sometimes polygons which are behind, pass over front polygons...
    There's 2 links to see what I mean :
First, normal view, I don't do any moves with the mouse : http://mfrac10.free.fr/GIF/Capture1.jpg
Second, I rotate the model, and you can see that some hidden walls pass over others : http://mfrac10.free.fr/GIF/Capture2.jpg
If somebody knows about this kind of problem, it would be very great !
    Thanks !

Thank for your answer and sorry for the pictures, but if I zoom in on the buildings, the display errors disappear...
The normals are not set properly, because those .obj files are from a .dxf where the normals are sometimes clockwised, sometimes anti-clockwised : the solution I use is on the .obj to enumerate points for a face on one way and on the other way (f 1 2 3 and f 3 2 1).
With the mouse, I rotate the view : I use a custom Behavior, at the beginning to have many views, but now it's the same file as the one from the API.
I repeat, but maybe it is important : when I am closed from an object, the default seems to disappear. It's when I go far from the objects that I see those defaults...

  • Display Jitters with Mouse movement.   Any ideas?

Cinema 23 HD Display jitters with mouse movement.
This just started happening. I don't know what's causing it, but my display jitters back and forth with mouse movement. Left and right. As I move the mouse the screen moves two pixels to the right or left when I move the mouse. After 2 pixels it stops.
    Very irritating.
I don't have any extra displays to determine if its the card or the display.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

    Hi-
Sounds like you may have accidentally turned on "Zoom".
Open System Preferences/Universal Access. Turn off "Zoom", and things should be normal again.

  • Display moves around with the mouse

I have a Powerbook G4. This morning I hooked up the laptop to an LCD projector (like I have done many times before) but the projector wouldn't accept the laptop. Needless to say, after I unhooked it from the LCD projector, my display screen moves around. If I move my mouse/cursor up, the display moves down. If I move it left, the display moves right. I have tried to restart the computer to see if that would work, it didn't. I rehooked it to another LCD projector to see if it would stop moving, that didn't work either. When I go into System Preferences & then Displays, if I try to change the Resolution, that will change but then I see a light blue area on the screen for a second until I click on the mouse again and the screen starts moving again when I move the mouse. It's like it is missing part of the screen. Plus my info. is somewhat blurry. I have never had this happen before. If anyone knows how to fix this and could please let me know, that would be great. I'd really appreciate it. Thank you so much!!!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Sounds like you've enabled Zoom under Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Universal Access, as that does a pan when you move the mouse.

Check out the article below to try out a few things to resolve issues with the flickering display on your MacBook Pro Retina. You may need to reset the NVRAM, if it does not resolve the issue, then there are links fur further assistance.
