Display of emails has changed, does not allow reply or forward ?

Inbox shows emails with a wide blue horiz band...shows whole thread but there is no way to reply ? How can I go back to the old way

Is there not reply button on the toolbar in the message window? If you use the message pane, is there no reply button in the customize window that you can put on the toolbar?

    Have you tried using Activity Monitor to shut down Safari?

  • Email error message "does not allow relaying"

    After operating normally for a year, I suddenly cannot send email. The message "...rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying" appears even if I email myself.

    Had the same problem. AOL had been working for months, stopped working for no reason. I checked the settings against aol's instructions and the username was wrong - aol state that the username should not have the @aol.com suffix but it did. The next problem encountered was that the iPad would not let me change the username under outgoing smtp settings. Answer is to do the following:
    Go to settings -> mail ->aol account ->outgoing mail server.
    Turn the primary smtp server off.
    Create a new one for smtp.aol.com with the username without @aol.com at the end and your password.
    The rest of the settings should populate automatically.

    I have routinely been able to send email from MS Word and Power Point and pdf files.
    Internet explorer does not allow me to send a message.. and there was not que for
    a password when I reset the default email choice using Start-Dfault Programs and Set program access and computer defaults.
    Very puzzling.

    I want to make sure I clearly understand the issue you are experiencing. You are trying to send an email through Internet Explorer through yoru Windows Live email program and it's not working?
    However, Word, PDF, and Powerpoint files work fine.
    What version of Internet Explorer are you using? What happens when you try to send email? Can you possibly walk me through a step by step explanation of what is going on?

  • TS3899 New Iphone5 will not allow me to send email.  Says "does not allow relaying"  I need help.

    I am unable to send emails on my Iphone 5.  Says "does not allow relaying"  Any suggestions as to how I can get this resolved?

    Try deleting the email account an readd it, this time add it under the "other" tab.

  • I am unable to retrieve spreadsheets.  Numbers displays the "Welcome To Numbers" page but does not allow saved spreadsheets to be opened.  It offers the "Open Recent" choice and displays saved file names but does not allow these files to be accessed.

    I recently upgraded to Numbers 3.5.2.  I have an older Macbook Pro (2009) and I run Yosemite 10.10.2.  I am unable to open any saved files that were created with earlier versions of Numbers.  When I open the Numbers app, I am offered the Welcome To Numbers page.  When I choose the 'Open Recent' option, I am offered the greyed names of files that I had recently used, however, I am unable to open any of these files (no error message is displayed).  Welcome To Numbers stays on the screen.  I tried opening the app by clicking on the file name but it produced the same results.  I am having a similar problem with Pages.   I suspect a compatibility problem between the new OSX and the new iWork offerings.   Has anyone else encountered this problem?  Does it require a setting change or is it a bug?

    I managed to download and install the iWork '09 apps.  However, when I attempt to open the app, I receive this error message:

  • TS3899 Suddenly, when I check my email, the screen does not rotate to the direction the phone is being held.  How can I correct this?  (Displays horizontally rather than vertically.)

    My phone has suddenly started to display my emails horizontally and does not self-correct when I am holding it vertically.  I have tried to correct this - to no avail.  Does anybody know how to correct this?

    This message generally means the SMTP server for your email provider either does not allow you to send mail off their network, or you have not completed setup of the server with authentication. Re-check your settings for the account from your email provider and make any necessary adjustments to the setup on the phone.

    Your email provider has blocked the standard mail port 25 for sending emails and is requiring a different port. This is to avoid mail relays that use mail clients to send spam. You need to find the port that is used by your provider for sending outgoing mail. Then change the settings in your email account on your phone to match the port. You will also have to provide some security credentials for the account.
    You can also try deleting the email account from your iphone, and the adding the email account back as this will many times set the correct port for sending emails.
    You could also do a Google search on the the settings for your device with your email provider. That will provide you with the proper settings.

    Try deleting the mail account and setting it back up again.

    In the top corner of iTunes is a small icon with a down arrow, click on that and choose 'show menu bar'. 
    Then on the view menu which now appears choose 'show sidebar'

    The issue definitely sounds like your Outgoing/SMTP settings need to be changed.  Simply set them to the proper settings for your provider as was suggested above.

    The SMTP settings can be edited on the iPad/iPhone by going to Settings--> Mail, Contacts, Calendars, edit the account having trouble, click the Account, then at the bottom is the SMTP server info, click on it to edit it further.
    It should allow you to edit the primary smtp server and let you enter all the good stuff as you see in the Knology link above.
    Some providers require you to register your account on their service like AT&T.
