  • What is the optimum core configuration for a new Mac Pro to process and manipulate very large (80 megapixel) images using PhotoShop and Camera Raw?

    Hello:
    I will be using creative techniques to process and manipulate a large number (hundreds) of very large (80 megapixel) images captured using a medium format digital back (Phase One IQ180).
    Final output will be digital fine art imagery printed using an Epson 11880 at large sizes (up to 60 inches x ?), retaining the highest possible quality and resolution. I will be using Adobe CC PhotoShop and Camera RAW as well as Capture One software. PhotoShop filters will be used extensively.
    The Mac Pro needs to be optimized for the above purpose and be useful for at least five years. I plan to max out all the other options (RAM, graphics cards, storage). Performance is more important than cost.
    The few discussions I have found that mention optimum core configurations seem to lean toward 6 or 8 (but likely are not taking into consideration my need for manipulating a large number of very large files), so I am looking to this foum for opinions.
    Thank you,
    Kent

    was recently sent a very large emoji message amd now when i try to acces messages it will not display mesagges and then will bring me back to the home page

    Quit the messages app and reset your phone.
    Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it jiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
    After the phone restarts go into Messages and delete the thread containing the problem message.

  • Since downloading the 2013 Keynote upgrade, the slide image size on handouts with 3 slides per page option is very small. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping 3 slides per page   lines?

    With the new Keynote upgrade (version 6.1), the slide image size on handouts is very small, which makes it difficult to read slide content when compiling lecture notes for students. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping to a format of 3 slides per page with lines?

    A number of posts have reported the same issue, two workarounds:
    1
    check the paper handling options or equivalent in your print dialogue box and set to scale to fit

    in the Keynote option, in the dropdown menu in the Print section, select Individual Slides
    then choose Layout, and set the number of pages, when printed you will have multiple pages on a single sheet.

  • How to load a large image for display on the Palm PDA

    Hello:
    I have a large image I would like to display on LV for Palm PDA. The documentation states there should be a 64K chunk limitation for VIs to compile on the Palm. Therefore, I decided to break this image up into 2D arrays of less than 64K per subVI. My 3.2 Meg image therefore has about 224 2D array subVIs. My motivation is to somehow use the build array function (with concatenate inputs) to reconstruct the image at runtime. I can compile each 2D array subVI as a test, but my attempt to reassemble and compile is futile. When I try to use the build array with only 8 of these subVIs in a top level VI the compiler complains its still too big of a VI. Using get info, memory for this top level states total ~2
    3K of memory usage.
    So can someone help me with this problem. Is there another way to load this size of an image into memory so I can display it on a picture control?
    BTW, this can build on LV for PocketPC.
    Thank you
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
    You are correct in that one of the limitations of the Palm OS is that files cannot be larger than 64 KB in size (as stated on page 5-3 of the LabVIEW PDA Module User Manual). The suggested workaround is indeed to have a top-level PDA VI that calls subVIs, and this top-level VI can then have a total file size larger than 64 KB.
    My suspicion is that with the picture control on the Palm OS, even if you are breaking up the image into smaller subVIs, the process of building the array to reassemble the picture is still forcing the Palm to allocate memory for each of those 2D array subVIs to place on the top-level VI's picture control
    and thus causing the Palm to complain about not having enough memory. The LabVIEW PDA User Manual also states that "There is a total limit of 64 KB on all front panel array data". Thus, when you are trying to use the build array on the top-level VI, the 64 KB limit on front panel array data is still being exceeded -- even with only 8 of these subVIs.
    The following KnowledgeBase article KB 38EJRHFQ: How Do I Put a Picture or Image on My LabVIEW PDA for Palm Front Panel? states that as a workaround, you can shrink the size of your image by using 4-bit or 1-bit data instead of the standard 8-bit pixmap representation.
    This is really just a limitation of the Palm OS and the fact that there is simply no way of displaying that much front panel information for your picture. Either way, you would need to build up the array of pixels for your bitmap, and for a 3.2 MB image, I don
    't believe there is any way for the Palm OS PDA to display the image in its entire at once.
    Sorry about that...

  • Please help!! "Can't open the illustration. This artwork contains a very large image that can not...

    Hi all, I am subscribing Illustrator CS6 16.0.0 and using it on Windows 7.
    Few days ago I was working with one file, I saved it successfully and now when I'm trying to open it an error message occures "Can't open the illustration. This artwork contains a very large image that can not be read on this version of AI. Please try with 64-bit version." and ALMOST ALL of the objects (vector) are missing as if they were deleted!
    It's kind of strange since I created the file with the same program and everything was working properly before.
    Please Please advice further steps for recovering my file.

    Thank you so much! the file is recovered (as well as my emotional state )
    The finding of the day - apparently I have two versions of AI in my PC!

    sounds like you broke the display when you dropped it.  There's nothing we users here can do for you.
    Since the iPhone warranty does not cover accidental damage, you will have to pay to have your phone repaired or replaced.  You can bring it into Apple for an out of warranty exchange in the country of purchase, or you can find a 3rd party iPhone repair store in your area.

  • After rotate, display of large JPEG images very slow.

    I am loading and displaying images using JAI and Java2D.
    When I load a large grayscale JPEG image (300 dpi, letter size), it displays fine.
    After a rotate, the next display is incredibly slow.
    Source is a RenderedImage loaded from a JPEG file using:
         FileSeekableStream ss = new FileSeekableStream(file);
         ImageDecoder dec = ImageCodec.createImageDecoder("jpeg", ss, null);
         RenderedImage source = dec.decodeAsRenderedImage(curPage);
    I create a scaled image using:
         interp = Interpolation.getInstance(Interpolation.INTERP_BILINEAR);
         ParameterBlock params = new ParameterBlock();
         params.addSource(source);
         params.add(xZoom); // x scale factor
         params.add(yZoom); // y scale factor
         params.add(0.0F); // x translate
         params.add(0.0F); // y translate
         params.add(interp); // interpolation method
    RenderedOp image3 = JAI.create("scale", params);
    And display inside the paintComponent() method of my JPanel-derived class using:
         AffineTransform transform = new AffineTransform();
         transform.translate(shiftX, shiftY);
         Graphics2D G2d = (Graphics2D)g.create(); //copy g
         G2d.drawRenderedImage(image3, transform);
    If I add a rotate step after the scale:
         ParameterBlock paramsR = new ParameterBlock();
         paramsR.addSource(source);
         paramsR.add(TransposeDescriptor.ROTATE_90);
         // Create an operator to turn image.
         source = JAI.create("Transpose", paramsR, null);
    Then the next display for a 300 dpi 8 bit grayscale JPEG file can take up to 60 seconds.
    The bulk of the elapsed time is inside: Graphics2D.drawRenderedImage(image3, transform);
    Any ideas what I am doing wrong here?
    I am relatively new to using Java Advanced Imaging.
    Thanks,
    T.J. Brown

    Sorry, a correction.
    The file is actually JPEG-compressed data inside a TIFF file.
    So the decode step uses:
    ImageDecoder dec = ImageCodec.createImageDecoder("tiff", ss, null);
    JPEG inside a JFIF file is much faster.
    Thanks,
    T.J. Brown

  • What is the best way to handle very large images in Captivate?

    I am just not sure the best way to handle very large electrical drawings.
    Any suggestions?

    Is converting the colorspace asking for trouble?  Very possibly!  If you were to do that to a PDF that was going to be used in the print industry, they'd shoot you!  On the other hand, if the PDF was going online or on a mobile device – they might not care.   And if the PDF complies with one of the ISO subset standards, such as PDF/X or PDF/A, then you have other rules in play.  In general, such things are a user preference/setting/choice.
    On the larger question – there are MANY MANY ways to approach PDF optimization.  Compression of image data is just one of them.   And then within that single category, as you can see, there are various approaches to the problem.  If you extend your investigation to other tools such as PDF Enhancer, you'd see even other ways to do this as well.
    As with the first comment, there is no "always right" answer.  It's entirely dependent on the user's use case for the PDF, requirements of additional standard, and the user's needs.

  • RoboHelp 8 HTML WebHelp How to display a larger image of a thumbnail by clicking on or rolling over the thumbnail?

    How would you display a larger image of a thumbnail by clicking or rolling over the thumbnail?

    Hi there
    For a mouseover you would have to add some custom developed JavaScript. You could probably find some pre-made on the web if you poked around.
    Generally speaking, any way you slice it you will be using two images. One for the thumbnail and one for the full sized image. You could employ the popup functionalty to pop up the larger image.
    I used to simply create DHTML drop-downs and insert the large images in the drop-down area.
    Cheers... Rick

  • The large image that displays the current weather has dissapeared?

    On my weather app and on the notification centre widget, the large image that displays the current weather (inbetween your location and the current temperature) has dissapeared. All the infomation given by the app and widget is correct and the smaller weather icons still appear within the app and widget but not the larger one?
    Can anyone explain the cause of this and give me a solution to fix it? Thanks

    Hi fedotenko,
    If your main objective is to print the images and merely not saving the images directly to the disk...I think you want to print these images without scrolling and the full content...So you can do something like below:
    // Here mainContainer is the container or box id the contents of which you want to print
       private function doPrintContainer():void
        var printJob:FlexPrintJob = new FlexPrintJob();
        if(printJob.start() != true) return;
        try
         var mainContainerHeight:int = mainContainer.height;
         //Increasing the height of the desired component to be printed.
         mainContainer.height = mainContainer.measuredMinHeight;
         mainContainer.verticalScrollPolicy = "off";
         //Adding the resized Component to our FlexPrintjob and then sending the print request
         printJob.addObject(this,FlexPrintJobScaleType.MATCH_WIDTH);
         printJob.send();
         //Resizing the component back to normal size
         mainContainer.height = mainContainerHeight;
         mainContainer.verticalScrollPolicy = "auto";
        catch(error:Error)
                     trace("Error : " + error.message);

  • Protected articles display as preview images without the Large Purchase Pane

    I created a folio with article preview in v27. When I open it right after the preview content completes downloading, everything works as expected.
    However, when I open the same preview folio afterwards, the protected articles display as preview images and the Large Purchase Pane disappears.
    Anyone have an idea what might cause this problem?

    It turned out that I did not set up the subscription purchase on iTunes Connect, so the subscription button disappears from the purchase panel.

  • Was using flags in the split view applying flags to images regardless of selection.  Flag would appear under cursor.  Suddenly they now are only visible when and in the large window.  How do I get this capability back.  It is very useful.

    I have been using flags conveniently when using the split view flagfs would appear under the cursor in the filmstrip view.  Now they only are visible when a single image is selected and not in the film strip.  This very convenient feature has suddenly and unexplanedly been lost.  How do I get it back?

    How are your metadata settings? For me the flags are still showing. Perhaps you have disabled the flags for the Browser view. Edit your Metadata Presets for the Browser:
    Enable "Show Metadata" for the Browser and Viewer, and then click "Edit" and eanble the flag for all Metadata views.
    For the Browser you need to edit the "Grid View" settings, expanded and Basic:
