Display problems after going from millions to 256 colors
In order to improve the speed of the display, I changed the screen color depth from millions to 256 colors. However since then the display in ARD is useless (it doesn't seem to know that the depth changed so you got 4 garbled up displays next to each other (like he is still expecting 4 times as much information.
Restarting ARD (and restarting the ARD services on the server) don't seem to help. Any ideas how to get this up and running.
Me too. Interested in resolution on this.

Problems after updating from Mavericks to Yosemite.
Hello everyone.I have noticed some battery problems after updating from Mavericks to Yosemite like no charging at all (but the orange led was on )and not able to fully charged.I solve them with SMC reset and PRAM reset.Furthermore, battery discharges faster than before and its really annoying. Now I have notice that the upper right corner of my mac is getting hot.I'll appreciate any help
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless. -

ThanksHello,
Please consider to configure Windows Firewall or disable it. Not only Windows Firewall but any security software.

Windows Firewall is enabled by default.
Make sure you are using SQL Server Native Client to create the ODBC DSN. Not all Windows versions have it, so you may need to download and install it.
Hope this helps.

Display problem after RAM Upgrade to MS6712
Hi there,
after a RAM upgrade (512mb to 3GB) my PC has developed a display problem. The graphics are slow / rippled and video playback is very poor. In device manager no "display adapters" are present and there is also an error mesage referring to the VIA CPU to AGP2/AGP3.0 controller not having enough free resources to run due to a conflisct with VGAsave? I've downloaded the latest VIA chipset drivers to no effect?
System info: MS6712 MB, AMD Athlon 1.25GHZ, XP SP3.0OK, here's the info on my PSU;
It's a Powerman FSP250-60GTU(PF). Input: 230V - 5A, 50Hz. Max Output: 250W
While I had the case open I took out 2 of the RAM modules and without making any other changes everything appeared to work fine with just the 1GB, so I tried putting 1 more back in to take it to 2GB and again all seems fine? Does this indeed point to my PSU then? If so and it works fine with 2GB should I be thankfull for a 512mb to 2GB upgrade and send the 3rd module back to Crucial??
Before I posted this thread I did run a memtest from Memtest86+ with all three modules installed and it came up with NO problems?
Re Henry's post, I searched using the format of the part no on the RAM modules themselves i.e. M368L2923FLN-CB3 and it took me here:
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/productListNonflexTable.do?fmly_id=118&sht_id=1
Other info on printed the modules themselves: 1GB DDR PC2700 CL2.5
According to Everest my CPU temp (with 2GB installed) is: 43 degrees (MOBO 30 degrees and HD 42 degrees) - do these seem normal? -
I recently updated- on balance things went ok-
How ever for some odd reason something is causing KDE (3.5) to behave oddly-
I used to have a app in the kde control panel that'd let me fine tune settings (fonts and display size for instance)- I see the app but not how to fine tune the settings other than for gamma and color-
I can use the nvidia-tools to do some of that- however something is causing my directories to display incorrectly meening that when double click on say- /home/(username here)/ I have a big fat square block where files used to be- and any window moving over that gets fairly well corupted.
I can sort of work around this by changing from"icon view"- to info list view.
I'm not sure how to fix this
Anyway any kind of direction at all about what's causing this problem is great.I have the same problem. It happened right after I installed the graphics update. When the computer restarted, my screen went crazy. I couldn't see anything, just a screen full of horizontal lines. After restarting a couple of times it seemed to go away, but it has begun to happen again recently. although not as bad yet. I am not saying it's not a logic board issue, but it does seem funny that more than one person is experiencing the same type of problem after the graphics update. I guess it's time to take a trip to the apple store.

Problems after resuming from hibernation
I’ve been getting horizontal lines and sound distortion after resuming from hibernation. Has anyone had similar problems or found a solution for this yet? I’m on Lion OS X 10.7.3.
Rorschach wrote:What freezes? Just X or the whole kernel? Can you ssh to your machine?
Now it doesn't freeze anymore. I really don't know what the heck is going on on my machine.
Next time that the machine freezes I'll try to ssh to it. Thank you for pointing this out.

Anyone's MacPro have problems after waking from sleep mode?
After waking from sleep, my MacPro 2x2.4 Quadcore Intel Xeon freezes in several applications that had been running before sleeping. Mail and Firefox both get into endless loops trying to download data and will not force quit. Pulldown restart and shut down do not function when this is occurring. Must shuyt down manually from box and start again. Everything works fine again until it goes to sleep again.
Start by swapping the keyboard. You don't need to spend a fortune, and handy to have spare. USB cables can be bad even new.
When I had some problems Apple wanted to blame the mouse, keyboard, cable, but in the end I found
A. run Disk Warrior
B. Corrupt pref or conflict with version of Hardware Monitor and other background tasks -
Display problem after update XP service pack 2
Can anyone advice me on the following :
I installed the XP service 2 (Xp pro) on my Satellite Pro 2100 and ever since I have at the right side of the display a black border that is not used of about 2 cm wide.
I've tried installing the latest nvidia geforce driver but that didn't solve the problem.
Before the update my resolution was put to 1024x768 32 bit colors, but now I can only put it to 969 x 768 ? Never heard of this resolution before but now my screen is no longer jumping from left to right.
Anyone any ideas?
Thanks already,
pLippoHi pLippo,
it seems the display driver is not compatible to the Service Pack 2. I understand your issue in this way, you have this problem after installing the Service Pack and not before.
In my opinion you could download and install the latest display driver from toshiba (https://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com) under Support and Download page.
If this doesn't solve the problem you could wait until toshiba releases a new display driver or you uninstall the service pack 2.

Display problem after apple repair
Hello everyone,
Few weeks ago had this problem with vertical lines on my iMac display, which apple told me it was a display problem and they needed to changed it. So far so good... despite the 300pounds i had to pay for a new screen but anyway....... now look what happened...
i was wondering if anyone has seen this problem before (i wish i could browse on internet about this problem, the thing is: with my screen like this i cant distinguish what is or isn't a good image when i watch videos/pic posted from other users regarding displays problems)... do you think is any graphic problem? or display again?
i'm so upset
ThanksThanks for your reply.
I've just done it and the screenshot looks fine on my iphone. So... LCD problem again...? great
can you see any problem on this screenshot?
Thank you for you help. -
Display Problem - Light Coming From Top
Hello,
So I recently purchased a 27" iMac, and have noticed a display problem when viewing in full screen mode. Its only an issue if there is black along the top of the screen (such as the black bars when watching a movie or trailer). When there is black along the top, you can see some white light kind of bleeding in from the top edge - kind of all the way along (very narrow), but more pronounced at certain spots. I browsed the forums, but couldn't find anything that seemed real similar (though there are a number of reports of a yellow tinge on the bottom).
I guess I"m just wondering if this is a common LED problem - or if my display may be defective, and I should take it back.
Thanks in advance.Hi Pullo
There has been a few reports, but nothing wide spread.

If it's noticeable, then most definitely take it back.

Any pointers? This morning, I rebooted for half an hour without success:
After resume from hibernate, most of my machine froze like described above.
After first reboot, it worked for 1 minute, then I had a full freeze (nothing worked... no mouse, no normal keys, no magic keys, screen frozen...)
After second reboot, my wifi adapter was gone. It showed up in lspci and looked like this:
04:07.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5416 Wireless Network Adapter [AR5008 802.11(a)bgn] (rev 01)
Subsystem: Atheros Communications Inc. Device 3071
Flags: 66MHz, medium devsel, IRQ 22
Memory at feb70000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K]
Capabilities: [40] #80 [0000]
...but not in ifconfig. I found the following in dmesg:
[ 7.106070] ath: phy0: address test failed addr: 0x00008000 - wr:0x00080008 != rd:0x00000008
[ 7.106181] ath: phy0: Unable to initialize hardware; initialization status: -19
[ 7.106287] ath9k 0000:04:07.0: Failed to initialize device
Problem persisted over 10 poweroffs/reboots (also hit the "on" button a few times with the pwoer cable disconnected, trying to make it "reset" or something. Did not help this time, might have been coincidence the last time that worked. -
Sound problem after waking from sleep
When I wake my computer from sleep the external speakers to do not produce sound. This is not related to the 'red light' issue, no red light is shining and in the sound control panel 'internal speakers' is showing.
Interesting is that when I play with the alert sounds in the control panel I can hear them, but when I adjust the volume or try to get sound out of software (iTunes, Quicktime, etc.) I can not hear anything. Also, when the computer is waking from sleep if I quickly toggle the volume control I get one or two 'clicks' before it goes silent. I have repaired the permissions according to other posts but that did not help.
However, if I plug in earphones and take them out again the volume works. . .
any suggestions?Todd Sackett wrote:
Hi everyone, after waking from sleep, the first sound that is played is accompanied by a hissing sound for the first couple seconds. It does not happen after that at all that I have noticed. It comes out of either the speakers or headphones.
Can anyone try this: (Esp. if you have a new MB Penryn update (most recent))
1) Close lid, put to sleep.
2) Wait 5-10 mins
3) Open lid, log in to iChat (with login sound on) or make some other sound play. Listen for a hissing or static sound within the first couple seconds of whatever you just played.
Thanks for any help!
I don't observe this on my Napa-Revised Macbook -
Display problems after installing 10.5.2 and the leopard graphics update
Shortly after installing the leopard graphics update, my display started exhibiting problems.
The next day, the powerbook wouldn't even boot, just leaving me at a blue screen.
I tried verifying permissions and verifying disk, reinstalling leopard and eventually did a fresh install of Tiger, which boots, but crashes frequently and has graphics corruption as visible in this screenshot:
http://pics.livejournal.com/dorukai/pic/000fw0hw
The same corruption is visible on a second monitor if I connect one.
The timing (being right after installing the graphics update) suggests that the update somehow caused this problem (flashing the video card firmware maybe?) but any ideas at all are very welcome at this point!
Unfortunately after installing Tiger I kept getting updates, and one has broken the ability to boot normally, I can only boot in safe modeI have the same problem. It happened right after I installed the graphics update. When the computer restarted, my screen went crazy. I couldn't see anything, just a screen full of horizontal lines.
