Display Query View in WAD

Hi,
Anybody knows how to display the selected QUERY VIEW Description (i.e. in a text box) in a web template?
(I know you can select a Query View in a drop down, so it should be possible!)
Thanks,
Max

Thanks, very helpfull.
I´m using BI 7.0
However, when I do as you suggested, I still get the query name, not the query view name.
The query view should be selected dynamically from the view that is displayed at that moment.
Also, can you incorporate saved views from the Bex Portfolio and display their names?

  • Create query views on WAD

    Hi all!,
In BI netweaver 7, is recommended to allow final users have access to create Query Views from WAD/Productive environment?,  this is because when production is closed, final users cannot save Query Views because transport error is generated.
We saw on help.sap.com: “Note that you cannot create query views on the Web if the standard transport system is active because this requires the transport request dialog box”.
Any suggestions are welcome, hope you could help us.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
you have to change the 'Object Changeability' setting for Query View in your productiv system. Then there will be no Transport System connection and you'll get no error message.
Go to the Administrator Workbench (Data Warehousing Workbench, transaction RSA1) -> 'Goto' -> 'Transport Connection' and choose 'Object Changeability'. To display the function, you may have to enlarge the window or press the arrow keys nearby.
In the following dialog box you can select the object types that you want to be changeable, even though the system is set to not changeable.
This task should be done by your System Administrator because additional steps could be necessary.
Take a look at SAP Note 337950 which describes general steps.

  • Displaying query view name in web template.

    Hi all,
In the standard web template (0ANALYSIS_PATTERN) there is a text box which displays the query title.  I need to change this so it displays the name of the query view instead of the query.  Does anyone know how to do this?
    Many thanks,
    Nick.

    Hi Nick,
In the template you need not to do any special setting for Query View Name display.
When You use a query view in template that becomes as a data provider, so for every data provider whether that's a query or query view it works same.
You can select to display query technical name or description.
Hope i understood your requirement correctly. If not than please correct me.

  • Local formula in query view

    Dear all,
I create query view in bex analyzer.
when I create the query view, I add local formula.
I use the query view in WAD.
The problem is when I run the WAD, my local formula is gone.
is there a setting to show my local formula in WAD ?
    please advice

    Hi,
There is no seeting as such in WAD.
Just check that you are includeing the correct query view.
I would suggest just close your query designer after saving the changes in view.
After that open the WAD and include the query view again as data provider. It will show the current save version of view.
Some times while including in WAD it picks up the last version of object. SO just try this once.
    I hope it will help.
    Thanks,

    Hi Shantanu
    Thank you for your reply.
I made a trace in the web by putting &TRACE=X at the end of the string.
I tried to analysis the transaction RSRTRACE and looked at the All Logs button against my user id.
Firstly, i do not seem to understand what this produces other than the debug session.  I could not also seem to find any information that assisted me on how to produce a log file, and information that indicates what you have said in your reply.
If you could further assist providing info on how to use the debugger/log file, and how to read

    Thank you.

    Hi,
Where/How can i find the "Query View u2013 Selection" web item in Blank Templete of a WAD
    or
From where i can install it from Business Content
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Are you with 7.x WAD?
This option will be available with that.
Or else, after putting Analysis Item->Properties->General tab->Click "New Data Provider" icon->Select the Type dropdown as "Data Provider of Type Query View".
This will list three radio buttons ""Query View","Query" and "InfoProvider" under "Define Data Provider Type".You can select "Query View" radio button and assign Query View.

  • Displaying name of the Used Query-View in a Web Template

    Hello Experts,
I am using a Query View as Dataprovider in a Web Template.
Now I would like to display the name of the View.
But with a Text Element this isn't possible.
You can only display the name of the Query.
Is there a way to display the name of the used Query-View?
    Thank you for your help.
    D.Kramer

    Hi Sumit,
    hi Björn,
    thank you for your hints.
We use a template to enable users to create Views.
    So its dynamic.
That way we don't know the Name of the Views in advance.
(So putting the text into 'Title' is not possible)
We already use the "Query View Selection". This works out for users that are able to see different Views. (Power User)
But is it also possible to display the Query View Name in an Item or with html methods for those templates where there is only one View (as dataprovider) we don't know in advance?
    Thanks again.

  • Query View not displaying data according to Query

    Hi,
I have a query with current cal week vaiable set for 0CALWEEK. A Query View is created on that but everytime we have go and maually refresh the query view and save it to show the current week. Is there any setting in WAD, Queryview or the query to pick the data automatically from Query directly?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Restrict the 0CALWEEK in the query with the variable 0CWEEK which is the current week. Then, create the view and the web template will automatically takes the current week.

  • Query view is not displaying  data correctly

    Hi,
We have built a query and 4 query views on the query and it is published in the Portal.
In the query ,we have a restriction on cost elements.
And on the query view we dont have any restrictions on costelements.
But when we execute the query view, the query view is showing some restrictions on costelements.
We have created a new query view on the same query and when we execute the query view in portal, it is showing soem restricitions on query view on costelements.Because of this User is not able to see all the data.
Any one help us in understanding and fixing this problem.
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi,
These are the my assumptions  please can you check the same.
    1) cost element is always compounding with the controlling area can you check either any restrictions are there on controlling area.
    2) As you said in mother report( query) you are having the cost element restrictions , from that  query only you are creating query view so automatically which ever the restrictions are there globally on that report it will be worked on view also.
so it is better to avoid that first and create teh view with out any restrictins then you can create one more view with the cost element restrictions
craet main query with out any restrictions then creae te view with restrictions, you are doing vice versa.
    Thanks & Regarsd,

  • Variable in Query View

We have a Query that display customer and sales information.
Different Query View have been created from the Query and inserted into the WAD.
When I execute the WAD, I have variable screen come up, I can see that the variable is filled with the value automatically (i.e. Period =7).
Is this setting (fill variable automatically) done someway in the system? I dont want to fill the variable automatically.
I changed the period from 1 to 5 and execute the query.  I can see the variable seleciton value (period 1 to 5) on the screen with result.
From the screen, I can select and choose other query view. When I choose to other query view, I can see that system read back the default variable value (Period = 7). Why the system not read the variable that I entered (period 1 to 7), instead of default variable value?
Is this bug? We're on BI7, enhancement pack 1. Do you have the same problem?

sorry somehow my forums updates were not coming to me.
when you are in the query designer go to menu and you could save different iview( info views for it). on your open file you could open files by iview and see which i view are saved and which one you want to fix. if your Iview is used in a report you could go to data provider and see what is the name of the iview and one you fix the query, go to that iview and resave it. and make sure that iview doesnt have the same defualt object in it.
do this in yrou development system and test it through making sure on dependcies reports or queries ,before transporting

  • Error while saving a query view

    Hi All,
I am trying to save a query view in my favourites and it is failing with below message:
Namespace '/BIC/' must be set to 'changeable' (transaction SE06)
I have created many query view so far, this issue has just started. Could you please help us with this, as it is very urgent.
    Thanks and regards,
    Shashidhar.

    Hi,
Please set the setting as described in note 337950, it will help to fix the issue.
    solution:
    Releasing the object changeability
This setting is only intended for production or test systems that are
set to not changeable. It is not suitable for development systems.  For
this reason, this setting is only effective if at least one of the
conditions specified under 'Cause and prerequisites' is met.
Go to the Administrator Workbench (Data Warehousing Workbench,
transaction RSA1) -> 'Goto' -> 'Transport Connection' and choose 'Object
Changeability'. To display the function, you may have to enlarge the
window or press the arrow keys nearby.
In the following dialog box you can select the object types that you
want to be changeable, even though the system is set to not changeable.
These objects are not connected to the transport system; this means that
no transport dialog boxes are displayed. This only applies, however, if
the preconditions mentioned under 'Cause and prerequisites' are met.
First, after releasing an object type, only objects that are original,
that is, those that were created in this system  can be changed. This
prevents changes to objects that were imported into the system. However,
changes to these objects may be overwritten again during a new
    transport.
You can set all objects to changeable (even the ones imported into the
system) using the context menu (right mouse button), although this
setting is not recommended for the reasons mentioned above.
    Thanks,
    Venkat

  • Create A Query View!

    Hi ALL
how to create a Query View for TeMplates?????
    Thanks
    BI Learner

    hello,
Query views are saved version of query output with particulr navigational state
The advantages of query views are:
Query views can be used as the data providers when you are creating web templates.
They are also used as jump targets. They are created after you execute the query, from the Save button, you can Save View global, or save as jump target.
They can also be used to  format the query e.g hide some characterictic, display/hide result rows, sorting keyfigures etc.
    Reg migration:
All existing SAP BW 3.x queries can be edited with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer without further manual adaptation.
After editing with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s Query Designer, queries cannot be edited with the SAP BW 3.x BEx Query Designer anymore.
Queries created or adapted with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer will still appear in the Open Dialog of the SAP BW 3.x Query Designer, but they cannot be opened anymore
    Views:
Query Views that were created before upgrade/migration will still run after a query has been changed with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer
In general query views do not need to be migrated

    Dhanya
