Display randomly cuts out

My display sometimes reverts to the lowest brightness setting, but the computer doesn't recognize that it's on the lowest setting, and therefore I can not tell the display to get brighter. The only way to fix this that I have figured out so far is to plug my laptop into an external monitor, at which point the display on my laptop will come back to life. Has anyone else had this problem, or know of a fix for it?

Another coworker has a GS70 and the same monitor as I do, but he is using stock win 8 and he does not get the problem.  I had to reformat with win 7 because the application I develop isn't supported in win 8.
That's fine, but it doesn't answer my question.
If YOUR laptop, with Windows 8 installed, does not have the problem, then it would show there is a problem with the Windows 7 drivers.
If YOUR laptop, with Windows 8 installed, DOES have the problem, then it would show that there is most likely a hardware problem.
That's the reasoning for knowing this. As it stands now, we're just stabbing in the dark.
Could your co-worker dual boot and try out Windows 7 as well with the same drivers? If his has the same problem, that would help confirm that it's a problem with the Windows 7 driver....

  • Tracks Randomly Cutting Out on itouch 4

I am using the latest version of firmware and itunes and I am finding tracks that midway through playing just cut out and there is silence although the itouch looks as if it is still playing a track. It seems to affect tracks randomly including an album I downloaded the other day from iTunes using the current software. I have tried reinstalling iTunes and deleting and reinstalling the affected tracks but to no avail. Any ideas on what is causing this and how it can be fixed. I never had this problem before the current software release.
    Thanks

    Hey
I'm having a similar problem. 30GB 5th gen iPod randomly cuts out of racks during playback. It always continues with the next song, and bizarrely, it even seems to update the play count (I think). It seems to happen for me with iTunes Store purchases, though not totally sure if that's a coincidence or whether it only affects those songs.
    Any help would be appreciated...

  • Curve 8520 randomly cuts out when speaking

I've recently just had to change handsets to the Curve 8520 model; mine is approximately 1 year old and previously used as a pay as you go phone but my SIM card is on contract.
However, whenever I make or receive calls my voice will randomly cut out to the recipient for a few seconds and then return to normal but will reoccur shortly after even though I have full signal. How can I resolve this issue? Thanks

  • Mic randomly cuts out after internet upgrade?

Hello, i recently upgraded my net from adsl 2+ which was about 700 kilobits/second to cable which is 36 megabit/second. Before the upgrade my skype worked fine. After it got upgraded my mic cuts out randomly during 2 person calls and small group calls. It works in larger group calls fine but a few select people (about 3 i know of) cant host due this issue. Ive searched for about a month now for an answer.

I should also point out that the issue is specific to Mac OSX. This computer has a Windows XP partition. I just tested the issue on the Windows partition, both with screen saver and standby, and it was able to sustain its internet connection with no issues whatsoever. To clarify, multiple computers with Mac OSX have not had this problem, and this computer, using a different operating system, has not had this problem. The issue is totally isolated to this one specific machine, using one specific operating system.

  • 3.5m jack on ipod randomly cuts out

so recently my ipod jack has been recently cutting out, first i thought it was my headphones, but then i tried the headphones on a different ipod touch, and they worked just fine, and then i used a different set of headphones on my ipod, they cut out with a move of the jack. I have a 16gb ipod touch, 2nd generation, and my warranty is still good.. the thing i wanna know is, what should i do?
do i send it into apple or go to where i bought my ipod.. and what would I get back, my fixed ipod, or a new one? because they dont sell the 16gb any more, so maybe i get a 32gb? :o
    thanks in advance.

If you're still under the 1 year warranty, Apple should be able to fix or replace the unit, regardless of whether it's still being produced anymore. If you're getting random loss of signal, that's an issue that the Apple Store should be able to fix for you.
If you are no longer under the warranty, you have several choices. You can still contact Apple re: repair issues. https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do
Other vendors, like iPod Juice, have a good reputation for repairs and service at a more reasonable price; they took care of my battery replacement.

  • Phone randomly cuts out

sometimes when i am talking to someone, they will cut out for like a split second, i know that sometimes i may not have that good of reception depending on what part of town i am in. but it even happens when i call my voicemail and have full bars, the voice that i hear will have some static and cut out for a split second. anyone know what might be wrong?

Full bars doesn't mean what you think it does. Sometimes I get a better connection with 1 bar than with 5 full bars. Update to the latest update (2.2.1) and if that doesn't work, take it to Apple. Sometimes lemons are made....regardless of industry.

  • Why does my iMac randomly cut out wifi and sound

j=Just out of the blue my mac drops all wifi, i try to look to join my wifi network again and then it shows the loading sign for like a minute then it just goes away and no wifi networks are shown! the only way to fix this is to restart my mac! this problem is starting to get on my nerves! I also have another problem that requires a restart for a fix, same as again out of the blue my mac becomes silent like no sound even through external speakers or earphones and AGAIN the only way to fix it is to restart it, thats really inconvienient. OS 10.7.4 mid 2011 help is greatly appreciated

  • Audio randomly cuts out for a few seconds

After an hour or more of use, audio on my 160 GB iPod Classic randomly stops for about five seconds, then resumes. This problem doesn't happen often, but will happen two or more times during a couple of hours of play. This problem does not seem to be related to the music that is playing at the time.
I'm wondering if Apple is going to issue a firmware update that might fix this problem.

Unfortunately there's no fix for this problem that plagues Classic since release. Considering that a new generation appeared I guess we have no reason to expect a fix anymore.
I also have the problem and it makes the iPod Classic less desirable to be used as a music player than a generic $10 (no name) usb stick.

  • Printing is randomly cutting out for some users last few days with no known cause

    1.  Printers deployed from Server 2008 print server with group policy
    2. Seemingly at random, a person will lose the ability to print to the HP printers (all running Universal driver 5.70)
    3. Print jobs will enter the print queue, and be immediately deleted. (no errors or recorded events observable)
    4. A different user logged into same machine will be able to print.
    5. After some (?) time, printing will return to normal.
Been happening for several days now to various people. No obvious system changes or common threads in affected people or systems. I've upgraded to v5.90 of the Uni driver and restarted the server. No additional reports today, but it's randomly occurring.
Any ideas on what could be causing this would be appreciated. Given all the other goofy problems I've had with this print server over it's life, I am tempted to just flatten it and rebuild from scratch. Or Exorcism.

    Hi Jim,
Have we tried to enable the Operational Log in printing?
To enable the Operational Log,  do the following:
    1.   Open
    Event Viewer
    2.   Expand
    Application and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\PrintService.
    3.   Right-click
    Operational and choose Enable Log.
Besides, Have you checked this printing troubleshooting article? For the other related logs and debugging tools, please see:
Troubleshooting Windows Server 2012 Printing(Same as in Windows server 2008 R2 environment)
Before we start to rebuild the printer, please take a try with the steps mentioned in the above article.

  • Effects randomly cutting out

I am having a problem where an effect appears to be randomly "turning off" as if it was never added, and then popping back in a few frames later.  I have tried saving, deleting and recreating, and tweaking the effect with no success.
The specific effect with the problem is:  A text layer, with the CC Glass effect.

I am using After Effects CS6.
Purge did not appear to do anything.
I also attempted to rendering to see if it was just a bug, but the problem appears in the render as well.

  • Q150 Display Output Cutting out daily

    Good afternoon,
I just started using the lenovos and love the flexibilty provided from their size. I have some I use for displays in office that run 24 /7.
I have atleast 4 running 24/7 and am finding that some can be found the next day after comming back in to showing no input on screen. The PC is on. After it is rebooted, it goes back and displays fine again.
The times this is happening is not consistant. All power settings have been checked (i.e. always on, no sleep, no hibernation / no turning screens off). I have also checked the power settings on the screens to make sure there is no energy tools shutting them off. These are running via VGA for this setup. I have also tried running these in another location offsite to verify that it is not the power in the building interfearing. Any ideas of where I could look next? Thanks in advance for nay asssistance.

    Hi endlessct9a!
Look for the "Just Scan" setting in the Samsung TV's video menus, and enable it.
    Hope this helps!

  • WRT400N randomly cuts out

I am having intermittent disconnects with my WRT400N. The disconnects usually last around 6-15 seconds and occurs about every 3-5 minutes, which usually won't deter the average internet user, but it is very frustrating when I'm trying to play online games. I've had the router for maybe almost a year, and there hasn't really been many outstanding problems, but this started happening just yesterday, and I have no idea how to fix it. I have confirmed the problem is with the router, and not with my cable modem.
When the connection drops, I am also unable to access the router's config page.
Resetting the modem does not fix it, and I have tried reloading the router's firmware, but the problem still persists.
    Any help is appreciated

Try to reduce the MTU size on the router to 1365 and power cycle the router and check..If you have upgraded the router's firmware then, reset the router for 30-35 seconds and re-configure the router from scratch as it is advisable to reset the router after upgrading the firmware.

  • Music Randomly cuts out while web browsing

is this a serious problem, and also the first day I got it I couldn't open anything... everytime I pressed to open something it would open and close immediatly what is the deal should I go get this fixed or what?

    Hi MacTruck,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
This is probably a question that you want to post in the Airport Express Discussion forum. Anyways, one thing might be interference. There is an Audio Drop thread you should look at.
    I hope that helps,

  • HT6114 external display cutting out

since the new update every few minutes my external display keeps cutting out and have to unplug and re plug the hdmi cable back in

    Hey there jamie0105,
It sounds like your external monitor is not funcitoning correctly with the computer after updating to Mavericks even after reseating your HDMI cable. I recommend these troubleshooting steps from the article named:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1573
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling
