Display runtime in published CP4 project

Hi all,
I've seen a couple questions about this but no solutions - at least none I could find.
Using CP4.
A client would like to see the runtime of the finished project at the bottom as the movie plays. I'm fairly confident there's no CP4 setting to make this happen, and I've checked the system variables with no luck.
Anybody know of a widget or other way to make this happen?
Thanks!
Ideally, the Playback Control settings would allow for this. By default, the playbar shows "slide" numbers - it would be great if we had the option for this to show runtime instead. Obviously, this is an enhancement request and not for the forum.... just typing my thoughts.

Hi there
If you are using a Table of Contents the duration is presented there.
Cheers... Rick

  • Export PDF in Captivate 5 and Publishing CP4 project in CP5

When I publish flash (swf) videos in CP4, I always tick the "Export PDF" option to also get the PDF version - and then offer the PDFs for download as an alternative to watching online (or send them via e-mail).
I have learned to live with the fact that the PDF version  - sadly - becomes somewhat blurred. But now, as I am trial testing CP5, I see that besides blurring, the video in PDF gets also distorted - if this is a good word for it: As the software screens change in the video (I record software demonstrations), the new screens show some left over graphics (mainly lines or points - as if remnants of borders of objects, lines, shadows, etc.) from the previous screen.
The similar thing happens when I publish CP4 projects with CP5 (which I want to do as the Neospeech voices sound much better in CP5) - I see the same leftover graphics, mainly in the full-motion segments.
Any suggestions on avoiding these issues?

Hello and welcome to the forum,
For this purpose you need Acrobat Pro, could you let me know if you have this app? It is coming with the eLearning suite. To export a Captivate file to pdf you do not need it.

  • Video not displaying correctly in published presenter project

So I created a presenter project that is basically a series of video clips.  I went in and replaced one of the video clips, and when I republished, all of the sudden the video was cropped weirdly and filled up one corner of the screen instead of the entire section.  Any ideas on why this is happening?  In the powerpoint view, the video should cover the entire slide, it's just when I publish it for playback that this problem appears.

when you publish a project, other files that you did place manual in the folder ( like video files), don't get inside the published files, you have to copy the video from the source files to the published files

  • Multiple VOs triggered simultaneously in published cp4 project

I'm sure there's a thread or two already out here about this; if so, can someone plz steer me?
I've published a "daisy-chain" model project in Captivate 4... meaning I've broken a course into chapter "projects" and some of the larger chapters into sub-projects.  Each project has an "end" slide. I can use this to add content to a sub-topic later if necessary, but each of them is currently set at 0.1 sec duration, and all just use the "on slide exit" command to open the next project in the series.
Each slide contains a swf animation, complete with VOs already embedded, inserted into a frameset, and a loop of background music runs under all the slides in that project. All animations are externalized.
Here's the issue: when I publish and launch the course in my LMS, the first slide of a project will randomly play the VO file for that slide, plus a duplicate of it, delayed slightly, or it will play the VO file for another slide further into the project, say slide 4 or 5.  Since all the VOS are embedded into swfs, I assume that the entire unwanted swf is actually being triggered and is running in the background somehow.
I built a pause function, and so I can stop the audio of the "wanted" slide, and let the "unwanted" VO run its course. Then if I restart the slide (which is what my "un-pause" does), and the slide plays fine.
Is there a parameter setting  that would keep multiple swfs from being triggered?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Thanks Softwater.
It is working great for me. I have expanded on this a little as well. I now have a login for my developer account where I do all my Apple development work. I even created one for my "games".  Im just wondering what the limit is for the number of accounts that can be created in Lion.

  • Images in Engage Interaction inserted into CP4 project not displaying....

    Hi all
If ANYONE has an idea on this one, please let me know. I've already spent days trying to fix this issue with no result!!
I have a CP4 project, in which I am inserting an Articulate Engage interaction (interaction type = Process). Within the Process interaction, I have images. I have trawled forums and found out there is a recommended max image size (200 px x 310 px)  and image type (jpeg or png) and I have also discovered that Process interactions prefer that images be aligned to either the left or the right, and not top or bottom. Done all that.
I also already know how to insert Articulate Engage interactions into CP4 projects - done that many times before. It's fiddly, but once you know how to do it, it's ok.
My problem is that when the CP4 project is published, the CP project plays perfectly, the Engage interaction displays as it should, each part of the Process interaction is visible and active, BUT THE IMAGES WON'T DISPLAY.
When I publish the Engage interaction (prior to inserting the engage.swf into CP4 as an animation) it plays perfectly, and the images display. When I view all the associated folders with the published Engage interaction, the images I've inserted are all there.
I cannot for the life of me work out what is going on. I have even re-created the Engage interaction from scratch, thinking it might have been corrupted somehow.
DON'T know what to try next.
    Does anyone have any ideas????

in between the browser and viewer panes is a little search box ... click in it to change ... or if there is an 'x' in click it ... somehow you set a filter on that project ...

  • The window title bar displays incorrectly after publishing a flash file.  Captivate 4

When I open the .htm file after using the Flash option to publish, the wrong title displays in the title bar at the top of Internet Explorer's window; instead it displays a former file name.  I was told that the window name is determined by the field located here: File> Document Info> Project Name; however, this is not the case on my PC.  My coworker is able to publish it correctly, but I am not.  The first picture below is the IE title bar and the second is where (I think) that title bar pulls from, Project Name.  Please notice that mine differ.  Any suggestions?

I've run into this issue in CP4 as well though I've never been sure why it happens. It looks like you're opening the swf through a browser to so, for want of a solution, the easiest workaround is the edit the html file.
open it in a text editor such as Notepad.
Five or six lines down you'll find the title element which defines the title as it will display in your browser titlebar:  <title>This text is the title that displays in your browser title bar</title>
Just change the text the the title you want and save the html file.
If you go with this solution, I suggest that when you are publishing the project again you deselect the option "Export HTML" in the publish wondow. Otherwise you will have to edit your html file each time you publish.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is it possible to publish a project with a different resolution than the native project resolution?

I think I know what the answer is going to be here, but I'm going to ask anyway. The background here is that I've made a few demo videos for new products and features my company is working on. I'm using CP4 for this. Our marketing department wants to take AVIs of my demos and insert them into their Powerpoint demonstrations. However, the native resolution of our demos doesn't make for a graceful import into Powerpoint. Thus, I've been directed to provide smaller res AVI files.
Thus, I am wondering if you can publish a project at a different resolution than the one in which it was recorded. My initial poking around seems to indicate that the answer is "no," and if this is truly the case, I will be rumbling over to the "Suggest a Feature" forum soon. There does seem to be a kind-of-workaround in that you can change the resolution of the project before publishing it, but this is something that cannot be undone, meaning that in order to do this, I will have to save new, smaller versions of all my projects. This is a bit ungainly.
So, if anyone knows a good trick here, I would love to hear it!

Unfortunately, I don't know what you mean when you say "manual panning." And I'm really not sure what you mean when you say the fields are not fully visible in the original image; they are completely visible. Here's a close-up from the original slide:
As you can see, the fields are completely visible.
Also, the slide is not entirely static. For the slide I chose as an example, the Password is filled in before the mouse moves. This typing may be part of what is getting Captivate confused; note this sequence from the resized version of the project:
    Slide 35:
The login window first appears. Everything is normal. During this slide, the mouse moves and clicks inside the User ID field, leading to...
    Slide 36:
At this point, things begin to go awry. The user name is entered, and the cursor moves to the Password field.
    Slide 37:
Whoops! As soon as we click Login, everything goes back to normal.
    Slide 38:
I will try a few of the suggestions you offered, and will report back with the results.

  • Videos don't display when i publish from my macbook

I created a module on my pc. it worked fine. I bought a mac, opened the project, edited it. when i preview it it's fine. but when i publish it, the videos, that are flv files don't display. when i publish from my pc the videos display. does anyone have any idea what's going on?

I am not a macbook user. But AFAIK, FLV being a Flash video, I don't think Apple will support it.
However, ideally Adobe Media Encoder (AME) should have converted your FLV to MP4 during the publishing process. Not sure why that is not happening. You can try converting the FLVs outside Captivate (using AME or any other tool), insert the video again on your macbook and see it it works.

  • Import multiple Articulate Engage interactions to a single CP4 project

    Hi
This question is about importing Articulate Engage interactions into a CP4 project. I have searched the forum and can't find a specific answer to this. Any feedback would be really helpful.
-> I already know how to import 1 single Engage interaction into CP4, insert as an animation onto a slide, and have it play perfectly in published SWF output.
My issue is: How do have multiple Engage interactions in the one CP4 project, when Engage always gives the published Engage interaction and all its supporting files/folders the same file name (I.e. "engage.swf" file and "engage_content folder"?
If, for eg I want ot have 3 Engage interactions in the CP4 project, is it ok to just rename each published Engage interaction differently, prior to inserting the interaction as an animation to the CP4 slide?
Does anyone know if this will work, or if there is another solution?
    Thanks in advance!

Http 1.1 is not supported. You could implement that yourself...
try to move the openconnection into the while loop. that should work

  • Publish a Project

I am fairly new to using Captivate and have a question
regarding the Skin. When I publish my project I get mulitple files
in a folder including the actual demo/training, full motion files
and the skin file. I am setting up an e-learning site and when I
import the actual demo file, it will play without issue, but the
problem is the controls to pause, rewind, go back, etc are not
    displayed.
My question is, do I need to merge the skin file with the
demo, upload both, or something completely different? Any help on
    this subject would be appreciated.
    Thanks - Joel

    Hello again
Captivate output is a bit like a house of cards. I'm not sure
we know which version you are using so I'll use Captivate 3 to
    illustrate.
With Captivate 3 you normally end up with multiple files if
you are Publishing to SWF format. I'll assume you named the project
MainMovie. In this case, you may end up with the following files in
    the folder.
    * MainMovie.SWF
    * MainMovie_skin.SWF
    * MainMovie.HTM
    * standard.js
You may also see a couple of other files.
    * breeze-manifest.xml
    * MainMovie_BDMetadata.xml
The two files above would be created if you had the option
for publishing Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro Metadata enabled.
You may also see some full motion files and possibly other
SWF files if you used a few animations.
Essentially, you want to take ALL the output files and place
them on your server. You then point at the HTM file.
HTM file loads and seeks the standard.js file. If it's not
there, things just stop dead in their tracks. Assuming the
standard.js is found, the MainMovie_skin.SWF loads up. The skin
file then loads the MainMovie.SWF file. As the movie plays, any
other SWF files are loaded when they are needed.
Hopefully that helps better explain it.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How do I create a project site after I publish a project in Project Server 2013?

How do I create a project site after I publish a project from project pro 2013 in Project Server 2013? I'm trying to look for an option in the ribbon but haven't found any.
    Thanks
    James T.F

    Hi James,
See in the article the procedure for site provisionning settings.
Note that the project site is created based on the template associated to the chosen project type (EPT) when the user first publishes his project. Be aware that if you allow the user to choose weither or not he'll create a sharepoint site when publishing
his project, he will be prompted in Project Pro with a dialog box giving the choice to create or not the site.
    Hope this helps,

  • How can I publish a project so that the link to embedded flv is not lost?

When publishing an Adobe Captivate 3 project, the embedded flv file does not play.
How can I publish a project so that the link to embedded flv is not lost?

I am not really sure, if I understand you right. But try this:
Don’t place a picture, but draw a box and use the "Fill" command to put a picture into it.
(Don’t click onto the color swatch, but onto the blue link "Fill".)
In this case responsivness should work.

I fixed the problem.. but it was very, very strange. I had a very long section for credits and set the line spacing to 1.0.. for some reason this caused it. I removed it, and it worked fine. I put it back, and I couldn't preview or play the video.
I don't know why that could cause that big of a problem, but it did..
