Display screen keeps resetting every 5 miutes

Our business computer is an Imac G5 10.4.11 Tiger. The display screen keeps resetting every three minutes. It just flashes and resets itself. I don't loose anything but it's very annoying. I've reset the pram & nvram with no luck. I've also done all the repairs off the start up disk. Any thoughts?

Hey Michael,
I brought my Imac up to the Apple Store where we purchased it from. They had Friday & Saturday and called Sunday saying it was done. My wife brought it home and we plugged it in only to find it's still has the same problem. My wife said they went through the entire machine from top to bottom.
I called the store today and had to schedule my complaint with a service tech. I brought the machine up there myself and went through the steps (It kind of scares me when I know more than the kid helping me). I understand they have to learn somehow, I own a door & window company and totally see things from both sides. I asked for a supervisor, explaining I wasn't upset with the other staff person, I was just upset with the computer. I explained to them that I had removed the cover and looked at the capacitors with three of them bulging. I explained I had posted here for some answers and that I'd researched the issue. They told me all about the problems they had with this year and the capacitor issues were only covered for a three year period (I happened to be six months late) They then proceeded to tell me that it would cost me $900.00 to fix. I had to take a deep breath and keep my composure after that one.
My biggest complaint is they had problems with the machines logic board capacitors, but never told us it may become an issue. No letter or even the courtesy of telling us when it was serviced. I own a brand new 20" Imac, the 2005 Imac 20" (problem child), and around 10 other Imac's dating back to 2003, 4 Ipod Touch's, and 4 Iphones. Needless to say I have invested a large sum of money in Apple products. These are the only machines I've ever had since I can remember and I'll always support Apple products. It just really ****** me off when they had my machine in for power supply repairs a couple times and never said a thing to us about possible problems down the road. Now they want me to sack up $900.00 for repairs when I can get a new one for around $1200.00.
I know that these issues arise in every kind of industry. I deal with them all the time, but if I know there's a flaw that will kick my rear end down the road, I''l head it off as fast as I can to avoid angry customers. I also don't have the volume Apple has when it comes to sales, so my issues really have no validity, they have to cut it off somewhere. Is there any other route I can take to try and get this $2600.00 computer fixed without kicking my rear?
By the way, thanks for answering questions, I do it on a couple boards in my industry. I know how people beat you up on certain issues without knowing your doing it for free. I know where your coming from and want to say Thank You for your time!!!

  • My IPOD keeps reseting every 4 or 5 minutes

i don't know what has happened with my IPOD but when I play music or video, it keeps reseting avery 4 or 5 minutes. I just restored the IPOD to its original settings and didn't get any better.

I would take it in somewhere, as suggested. Did you notice this happening after putting songs etc on it? Perhaps there is corrupt file that is causing problems.

  • My Macbook Pro with Retina display screen keeps flickering a ghost screen.

My Macbook is a year and a half old, and has never been dropped or damaged.  A few months ago, the screen started flickering.  Not like off and on, but a ghost screen would flicker on top of what I was doing.  It is usually the same window that I have present, but just like half of it for a millisecond.  It is very annoying and is unpredictable.  It usually happens for hours every few seconds.  What should I do to fix this?  I try to take a screen shot to post but it either happens too fast or is not possible to record.

While people here will surely help, you may do better posting this on the Intel iMac board, since this is the iMac G5 board.

  • Help! Charge Keeps Resetting to Home Screen every minute or so.

Hi. My Samsung Charge Keeps Resetting every minute or so to the Home Screen. It shuts off anything I'm doing and goes black. It then starts up at the home screen and says "media scanner running" at the top of screen. What I was doing before problem occurred...I was listening to music player yesterday for several hours until battery went dead. I plugged the phone into my laptop to charge the battery and the problem started.

I don't really know what to do but your battery probably is not charged very well yet.  The USB port on a PC is NOT a very powerful charger.
Try this.  Plug your phone into the 1 AMP charger that came with it.  After the battery is charged past the 60% mark leave the charger plugged into your phone and then hold the on/off button (top right outside edge of the phone) until you see Power Off.  Touch power off.  After a minute restart the phone.
If that does not fix your phone do the same thing at one more or maybe two more times.
I hope someone else may have a better idea.

  • SPA3102 keeps rebooting / resetting every 5 to 6 secs.

I'm in a situation where the box keeps resetting every 5 secs.  I can not get to the IVR to factory reset defaults, I can not upload new config via web gui nor can the firmware upgrade program or sipura's web wizard make contact with the box.
How I got into this situation:
    - Last night the Phone led was out.  I guessed due to high network usage which was confirmed by my ISP (guessing everyone downloading Vista SP1 / XP SP3)
    - I thought I'd use the down time to upgrade the firmware.
    - I had forgotten the admin password so via the IVR **** I reset config to factory defaults.
    - Used the IVR to set the IP address and enabled web gui config.
    - Upgraded the Firmware from 5.1.5 to 5.1.7(GW).  Successful.
    - used the web gui to config the router part of the box.
    - then the VOIP Regional settings
    - then the VOIP Line 1.  This is where the trouble started.
From this point the box constantly reboots every 5 secs.  For thems in the know, what happens is the power led turns red for a brief moment, then straight to green.  The ethernet port led then lights green with a few blinks then still for 3 secs or so.  Both leds then turns off and a reboot it triggered.  I've noted when the ethernet cable is not plugged into the internet port the ethernet led blinks a little then stays off.  3 secs reboots again.
Having just the ethernet cable plugged into the internet port, or just the Phone connected to the phone port or just the Line connected or ANY combination of the above has no effect.
I've tried unplugging all cables and letting the box sit for maybe heat or ram reasons.  Keep in mind that this box has been in use, in place for over a year.
So I'm thinking it is the Line 1 config.  By memory what I configured was:
    - Proxy: sip1.myisp.com.au
    - Register: Yes
    - Make Call Without Reg: No
    - Ans Call Without Reg: No
    - Display Name: my 8 digit number
    - User ID: my 8 digit number
    - Password: my correct password
    - Use Auth ID; No
    - Auth ID: blank
    - Preferred Codec: G729a
    - Silence Supp Enable: No
    - Use Preferred Codec Only: Yes
    - G723 Enable: no
    - G716-* Enable: no
    - DTMF Tx Method: Auto
    - Dial Plan:
    (*xx.|000S0|121S0|151S0|181S0|[2-
    9]xxxxxxxS0|0[23478]xxxxxxxxS0|0011xxx.|1800xxxxxxS0|1300xxxxxxS0|13[1-
    9]xxxS0|xxx.)
Now maybe the dial plan had line breaks in due to copy and paste from notepad.  In which case the string may read:
    (*xx.|000S0|121S0|151S0|181S0|[2-9]xxxxxxxS0|0[23478]xxxxxxxxS0|0011xxx.|1800xxxxxxS0|1300xxxxxxS0|13[1-9]xxxS0|xxx.)
    9]xxxxxxxS0|0[23478]xxxxxxxxS0|0011xxx.|1800xxxxxxS0|1300xxxxxxS0|13[1-
    9]xxxS0|xxx.)
Now I've seamingly no connection or control over the box.  Any help or idea is warmly welcomed.  Hoping at minimum there is a hardware pin inside the box to short, triggering a factory reset.
    Cheers.

    Sorry Mate, no solution ;(
On the phone to tech support for a while and they said, "well it is in warranty, exchange it" (mine was two years).  So it is now in the process of exchange.
On top of bussines hurt, paying the phone rate outside budget, I'm also paying for the mail!!!!

  • Display adapter randomly resetting

I'm having two issues which may or may not be related. My display adapter keeps resetting itself. Sometimes it works and I can continue working.other times I get a screen full of vertical lines and have to reboot. The computer will also not bout or run on battery power. If it's on and I unplug the a.c. adapter it well shut off. Any ideas on how to solve my envy dv7 issues? It's windows 8 that I'm currently running after doing a complete restore yesterday in the hope that if would solve the problem. If didn't.

    ACCER,
Thanks for getting back to me. In all honesty, it seems like the hardware is starting to go.
However, my last suggestion is to reinstall the operating system. This is because their may be a software or virus causing the issues you are describing. It's a long shot, but since you will need to back everything up anyway, you might as well do this.
First, please ensure you backup your files. Here is information on how to do this: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8)
Once this is done, it is safe to reinstall the operating system. Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8)
If the same situation occurs, the computer likely has faulty hardware. At that point, please contact HP phone support, or take it to a local repair shop to get it evaluated.
If you appreciate the information I provided, please mark my posts with Kudos and "Accept as Solution"! It would be helpful to me, and help anyone else come across this information in the future.
I will look forward to your reply!

  • Mac book pro settings keep resetting

Hi, I am in need of anyone that can help me with my situation.
About two days ago, when I booted up my Macbook pro, all the settings would have been resetted (dock is full of apps that I removed, exposes resetted etc).
Whenever I would set up all the settings to how I had it, it would still keep resetting every single time I turned the computer on and off.
Just yesterday, my Macbook also started becoming incredibly slow. The first time I boot it up, the screen would always freeze but I could still move my cursor with the spinning wheel. It requires me to manually press the power button to turn it on and off, sometimes twice.
    Please can anyone help me?

Is your data backed up?  If not, you may need to do a data recovery.
If your machine is under 4 years old, resetting the PRAM can help.
If your machine is older than four years, the PRAM battery may need replacing.
If your data is backed up, and resetting the PRAM hasn't helped, getting Alsoft Disk Warrior may work, if "Repair Disk" won't work by booting either the disc that came with the computer and running Disk Utility from the Utilities menu of the installer, or Disk Utility from the command-R boot sequence available on Macs with 10.7 or later installed.

  • Nano keeps reseting

my 1 week old nano keeps reseting every time i turn it off. i'm listening to music, then i turn it off, when i turn it on again the apple logo shows, neither my songs and photos are lost, but the clock is reseted, my screen lock code is reseted, in fact all my settings are being reseted every time i turn it off and on. this isn't a problem involving the hold switch because i never forgot to switch it on. i have restore the factory setting with iPod software updater in my mac but the problem remains the same.
Is there anybody who has the same problem???
Can somebody help find a way out???

If its been sitting for awhile, its showing the apple logo because it's waking up from Deep Sleep mode. Deep Sleep kicks in when you let your iPod sit for about 36 hours. If it is only when you let in sit for long periods of time, don't worry about it, it's normal. It had nothing to do with your cousins.

  • Audio Output Keeps Resetting

Fro some reason my audio setting keep resetting every time I shut my computer down. Not sure what is going on but I have to go back into System Preferences to rest them. Any thoughts?

It is a known issue. Switch is not flipping.
I would take it to an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider  (AASP) for evaluation, or call your nearest Apple Contact Center. Visit the Genius Bar at the Apple Retail Store,  make a reservation.

It has nothing to do with "getting near: the other iPhone.
They are using the same AppleID for iCloud.
On the 3GS, Setttings > icCloud, delete the iCloud account and turn it on using the new AppleID.
Whatever I have changed on my 4S...notes, apps..etc.
Settings > iTunes & App stores.
Tap your ApleID, sign out then sign in with new AppleID.
