Display screen off during phone calls

Hi Sony, lately my Z1 compact switches off display during phonecalls even when pulled away from my ear thus before setting the power button as an "end calls" option I could not end calls as my display screen is off for close to a minute... What can I do?

@252293 - If you have a case or screen protector attached, please remove it and tell me if the problem continues.

Iphone 3gs keeps switching off during phone call showing apple logo

My iphone 3gs keeps switching of during phone calls. The apple logo appears and I have to wait until it switches itself back on, this happens without my help, any ideas please

Try restoring the iPhone. If a normal restore doesn't work, try setting it up as a new device.

My 4S iphone keeps trying to turn off during phone calls and drops the calls. Sometimes I have to call back 3-4 times to finish a conversation.

While talking on my iphone, the phone tries to turn itself off. Not just once, but continuous, and not just dropping the call, but actually tries to turn itself off.

Well, then I'm glad this is most probably not a hardware issue - at least not an exceptional, maybe defect of all? -. This seems to be a good idea, because 2G will nearly everywhere available, so phone calls are not likely to drop at all. I'm just a bit confused, because they promised intelligent switch even during calls. For me that means that if the better, faster connection is available, then it uses that, and if it wouldn't be, then it switches to the slower one.
Anyways, thanks for your reply. I guess it's a "just get used to it" issue.

Mike and/or speaker kept switching off during phone calls

I just returned my 4s after less than 24 hours and have gone back to my 3 because teh mike and/or speaker kept switching off during calls using the handset, the apple headset and my blueant bluetooth, they could not replace it today so I returned it and may repurchase at a latter date if this is not at common problem... has anyone else had this problem?

If the proximity sensor is covered by a case, your hand, or by being close to your face, the screen should go dark and unresponsive, but the call should not be disconnected.
Is there anything covering the proximity sensor? It is located between the earpiece and the top edge.

Iphone turn off during phone call

Hi, my iPhone 3GS (with iOS 5.0.1) turn off automatically during normal phone calls (i.e. without hands-free talking) after approx. 5 minutes. After a couple of minutes the iPhone come back to the normal "standby" situation, i.e. I can press the home button and unlock the iPhone to do everthing like normal (without any long phone calls). When I am using hands-free talking (like in the car) the iPhone is working as expected without any malfunction.
This effect was shown up at each call (> 5 min.) since the update to iOS 5. By using of iOS 4 the iPhone has worked as expected.
Who knows about this effect and possible solutions to fix it?

Connect iPhone to Wall Charger for 10 minutes, it may turn ON itself. If still nothing, keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until the iPhone begins to respond.

Iphone 6 turns off during phone calls

Hello,
This happens intermittently when making a phone call. Screen goes dark, -cannot bring screen back on and have to shutdown the phone and restart.
Any ideas as to where to start to resolve this?

IPhone turning off during Phone Call with iOS 4 and very slow performance!!

Ever since the update, my phone has been switching itself off during a conversation.
Has any one else experienced this problem since the update???
Do you have a solution, if so please post it and help me!!!
Also, the phone has been going very slow.
Keyboard appearing 20 seconds later, after opening a new note and overall slow performance.

This may very well be an issue with the proximity sensor. Take it to an Apple Store; they'll be able to let you know for sure. But first, to rule out a software issue, try a reset: Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears.

My screen dims during phone calls but doesn't come back on after

It seems for the past several weeks my phone seems to dim when I put it up to my ear to take a call but then the screen does not come back on when I take the phone away from my face like it is supposed to. The screen seems to dim if anything comes within 3 or 4 inches of the sensor but the screen never comes back on and I have to hit a button.

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not alone. I've had my pre for about 6 weeks and I love it. So... I bought an INVISI-SHIELD for over $20 at Best Buy. Then the flickering and blank screens started a few days later. The only difference was the new protective, invisible, EXPENSIVE piece of plastic - so I trim it back to just the face (assuming it was a side sensor glitch) but it still didn't stop it. So I peeled off the skin tonight and it seems to be fine... for the time being.
A WARNING would've been nice before I spent my money. I want to be reimbursed by Sprint! Thanks community - it was nice to get help from YOU!

hold home(circle button) and power(top button) for 1min or untill the apple logo comes up, if this doesnt work plug the phone into power source and wait about 10 min then try again, if that doesnt work plug into comp hold home button down wihle doing so untill itunes says it detected a phone in recovery mode or untill the ituens logo and usb cord come up

Screen unpredictably shutting down during phone calls.

Anyone understand the logic behind when the screen shuts off during a phone call.
I'm using the keypad a fair bit and sometimes the screen will shut down during a call, hiding the keypad. I can shake it and it will come on again but then sometimes it goes away.
Sometimes it just stays up the entire call.
Sometimes it shuts off during the call.
If it shuts off during a call I can shake it to get the screen to come on.
Sometimes it just stays up for the rest of the call.
Sometimes its shuts off again.
If it shutss off during a call I can shake it to get the screen to come on.
Repeat...
Quite frustrating. How do I get it to stay up?

My iPhone does the same thing. When I make or receive a call the screen seems to do the opposite of what it should do. When I put the phone to my ear the screen activates, when I pull it away the screen locks. This causes me to press the touch screen when talking on the phone, buttons like mute and keypad.. highly frustrating. Also when I try to hang up, the screen locks preventing me to end the call.. have left numerous unintented voicemails due to this.
I have tried adjusting the auto-lock setting but this does not help and is up-to-date. Any ideas?

N8 - touch-screen still active during phone calls,...

I've made a few calls with my N8, and I'm finding that the touch-screen is still active when I hold the phone to my ear. I've accidentally hung up on people, or have inadvertently activated other apps. Is this something I can fix in tools?
The sound during calls is also very low (even at maximum volume), which compounds the above problem even more, as I push the phone closer to my ear.
If nothing else, the N8 should be able to function perfectly as a phone, and this is really frustrating - I never had this problem with other phones.
Also, on the 2nd use of the photo edit program, it took a long time to save the photo, and then the phone froze. Is anyone else having problems with this?

I too fact these problems i.e touch-screen still active during phone calls leading to unintended "hold" on the calls or screens navigating else where. Yes, the side lock bar helps, but then it is not very handy way for a costly model to be designed. Even the older cheaper nokia touch screen model did not have this problem. Let NOKIA people respond to it.
Yes, the sound is too low even at the maximum. Nokia support centre plead helpless.
I think we all made a big mistake in investing in this costly handset.
