How can I prevent the display screen from flipping from vertical to horizontal when I turn the phone sideways?

Lock the portrait orientation by double-tapping the home button and flick the recent apps bar to the right until reaching the left end. Tap the lock symbol.

It should change automatically when you turn the phone but note that there are some screens such as the home screen that do not rotate and some apps that don't support rotation. Also the orientation can be locked. You can turn the lock on or off by opening Control Center (while on the home screen swipe up with one finger starting from below the bottom of the screen). The orientation lock control is on the right end of the top row in Control Center and looks like a lock inside a partially circular arrow. When on, the same icon displays in the menu bar.

7th generation ipod nano only displaying white screen with blue horizontal lines

My 7th generation ipod nano is now only displaying a white screen with blue horizontal lines along the bottom. It still plays music and is recognised in itunes with I connect it to my PC.
I have reset is and restored it and it is charged.
Please advise.

It sounds like your iPod nano is only showing the Apple logo with a white background, and you've tried many good steps including resetting and restoring the device. I know I'd miss my music in this situation.

Hi, While writing an email online using Firefox 3.6.3, I was using one of the "CTRL+left or right arrow" to move the cursor along the text. I must have pressed some other key because the display has become huge - and I can't scroll vertically or horizontally, which makes using the Mail pages of Hotmail impossible. I have since logged in using MSFT Explorer and it works fine. This problem occurs only on the Mail page of Hotmail Live not on the home page or others.
Could you please let me know if this is a problem with Firefox, or if you have any advice on how to reset the appearance of Hotmail in Firefox?

Hi,
Incase you have to display this in an ALV; then your internal table will be dynamic.
Your internal table will consists of following fields
Work Centre
Date1
Date2
DateN
The date columns will not be of type d but rather character as in this columns you have to store the workcentres in them.
Create your dynamic internal table using the class CL_ALV_TABLE_CREATE and method CREATE_DYNAMIC_TABLE.
You will have to create a fieldcatalog table and pass to the method.
Then use the dynamic internal table created to store your data horizintally against each date column.
Display the output in an ALV.
Pass the date values as the description for each date column in the ALV.
I hope you get the concept.

All field lables for PCUI screens in Portal is displayed with Vertical bar

In Portals, all PCUI screen Field lables are displayed with vertical bar in the biginning of the field.
can somebody tell me how i can get rid of that vertical bar from all Fields. let me know if there is any SAP Note available for this?

Hi Siva,
The default behaviour of Top Level Navigation is if there are lot of items in it, it tends to bring a scroll bar to scroll across the items.
Did you tried reducing the font size of the TLN items in the themes, so that they can try and fit in the page without scroll bar appearing.
Otherwise you can consider having hover menu, which will display all items on hovering the parent node. Have a look at the blog for more information

Try a device reset:
*Device reset*
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

That sounds like a display hardware problem. You should get the device replaced under warranty through your carrier.

There is a screen lock. If the Rotation Lock is on you will see a circular arrow surrounding a small lock at the top of your screen near the battery level indicator. To turn on or off the Rotation Lock swipe up from the very bottom of the screen to being up the Control Center. Look for that same icon and tap it.

Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If there is, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Herringbone lines, and vertical and horizontal lines on display which dims

I have an iMac G5 purchased in 2005, six months later under the extension program for the video and power issues, Apple installed a new motherboard and a new power pack. Up to now, everything has been okay.
This morning I turned on my computer and saw the same herringbone lines, vertical lines, horizontal lines on the display which went from dark to light in color. I waited for a while, and a message said to restart my computer which I did.
Because of the previous problems, I am wondering if the motherboard or power pack is going out again. After the start up, my computer was okay for the rest of the day. I took some photos and a video of it to show what is happening to the display, any suggestions.

Thanks Scott for the quick reply. Knowing what happened five years ago with the display, I figured that this was the same issue. It is just a matter of time. I quickly backed up my system to another hard drive and wanted to confirm in the discussion group that my G5 was on it's last gasp.
Since I would be lost without my computer, I just put in an order for the new iMac 27" quad core i5 computer. Now I will have to make monthly payments again, but I think that I will have a much faster, and better computer especially with the Intel processor.
Thanks for your reply, and I hope that my new computer will last longer than five years. My track record was five years for my lime green iMac G3, and now five years for my iMac G5.

Hello Gerald,
The orientation lock control is now located in the Control Center on your iPhone. If you swipe up from the bottom of the screen, you will see the option to lock or unlock the orientation:
Swipe up along the bottom of the screen to display Control Center (you can do this from any screen, including the Lock screen).
Tap the Screen Rotation Lock button.
If the button was highlighted, the button will appear dimmed after tapping it.
