Display Setting Help

I resently moved my old G5 into the living room, and connected it via VGA to my TV. When I connect it the computer auto detects it, and keeps auto adjusting the screen resolution, and my apple button, and dock are all off the screen. Is there a way to manually adjust the screen resolution?
It keeps giving the screen resolution as 1920x1080 (interlaced)
Which I understand is 1080i, but that is still taking everything off the screen, and I've tried adjusting it from the TV, but then it just makes the projection screen smaller, and everything is still off the page.

This is another off topic question...
I know that there has to be a way to make text in my menus bigger... but how?
((talking about how to make the the text in the finder menu and things...))

Display Options Help Needed to connect to TV

I am a New Mac User and have My macbook pro running Bootcamp with Windows Vista, However I have got the Computer Plugged into my Tv using the Mini DVI to s-video adapter and works fine when running leopard ( plug and auto works ) however when on the windows I cannot make it work on the TV , I have tried changing display setting , extending to 2nd monitor ,etc .. but nothing I do seems to work ..
So if anyone has any idea , or do I need a Windows Vista for Mac driver for the DVI port or Something ??? where can I get , and what do I need ..

Sorry, I thought it was myTV device you were asking about. My situation differs: cable company service which includes TV & Broadband split by ~$10 cable splitter with co-ax into cable modem & ~$100 myTV.PVR which is USB to MacPro.

(Just tried this with my new Penryn 2.4 Macbook purchased last week. Hooked up the mini-DVI to VGA adapter to my LCD monitor, booted up in Windows (via Bootcamp), and set both monitors to 1024 x 768. It works flawlessly. The quality on my 18" Sun LCD monitor is wonderful!)

In Keynote09, if i set custom presenter display settings (large presenter notes), and i save the file, will i see my notes in the same way on another computer? Are the presenter display setting saved in the file?

NX6200TC primary display set as TV

I have a NX6200TC connected to a (PAL) TV and Philips 17" monitor. From time to time I neglect to switch on my Philips monitor before powering on my Windows XP PC. The system them sets the primary monitor as the TV and does not detect the Philips.
To reset this back is not easy as restarting the PC does not help. The current display drivers are Version 8.4.2.1
Does anyone have a easy way to reset the display setting so the the primary monitor is again the Philips or are there any other solutions to this problem?

I have installed version 9.1.3.1 of the the ForceWare Drivers. I now have a new problem.
When Playing a video to my Pal/I Standard TV, overlay set to Full screen on the TV, the picture on the TV appears like a letterbox. Normal viewing of the of information on the computer screen is mirrored to the TV correctly.
Do you have any idea how to resolve this?

Wakes up to wrong display setting then quits everthing !

I have a mac mini running an updated snow leopard plugged via an adapter into the HDMI slot of my Philips 40" LCD screen. For some time now, whenever I wake up the mac mini and the TV (both of which go to sleep after a period of inactivity), the screen starts off with the wrong display setting moving from 1360 x 768 to 1600 x 900 which is a much worse picture. I can switch it back through the menu bar, and that usually works, although sometimes, it also quits any open apps so I get multiple 'unexpectedly quit' error messages. This can also happen if I use the remote to wake it up without turning on the TV.
Any ideas how I stop this ? I have repaired permissions and also verified and repaired the hard drive and that seems to have a short term impact.
Any help would be much appreciated.

See if there is a way to turn off CEC on the Philips through its menu system and see if that helps.

MBP Retina display setting to make Photoshop less pixelated?

I just purchased a MBP Retina and I've noticed (as many have, I've gathered) that Adobe CS6 programs appear pixelated on the new retina display. I realize that not all apps are upgraded for the retina display, but I was wondering if there is a display setting I can use for this to be resolved for the time being? Much appreciated, thanks!

Well, OK, if it is completely dimmed, not just stuck on a low level, try pressing fn-f2 (function & F2). If the box in preferences is checked, then adding "fn" may help. Worth a try if it works.

Display Setting Problem

I accidentally chose an unsupported display. If I boot the mini it starts up and then the display flashes "no support." If I start up in safe mode everything is very large. I go to system preferences and there is not a display selection.
Is there a way to rest this? I have done the control option P R start up, and it did not help.
I did the 10 second hold down where the computer bongs for a long time on start up. No luck. I'm at my wits end.

The lack of a displays preference pane when you safe boot is something I have not come across before - indeed, when I messed up the display settings of a mini connected to a TV and ended up with a display that wouldn't sync, I was able to resolve the problem by safe booting and resetting the resolution and refresh rate in the display preferences.
One thing I have found has worked on some Macs where the display settings have been set out of range and the display therefore doesn't work is to disconnect the display completely and then boot the mini. Once it has started up and there's been sufficient time elapsed for the desktop to appear, then reconnect the display again.
What that OUGHT to do is cause the mini to set a default minimum display setting when it fails to detect a display. 640x480 or 800x600. When you reconnect the display, the desktop should then appear at that default minima.
You should re-enable automatic logins (the checkmark in the security preference pane) before you do this since the mini may not detect the absence of the display before it cycles into the user's desktop.
Even if this works, it's of some concern that under safe mode the preference pane is missing. To me, that would indicate the problem is a little deeper than merely preference settings, but this is worth a try.

Quicktime Does Not Support Current Display Setting...

When I have iTunes open (minimized or full screen) and lock my computer (Windows Key + L, goes to switch user screen) in Windows XP Pro SP2 I am getting the following message:
Unsupported Display
"QuickTime does not support the current Display Setting. Please change it and restart this application."
This happens on my work computer and home computer, both running Windows XP SP2 (Home and Pro). It happened in iTunes 7.0, 7.1 and now 7.2. Is this a known issue with iTunes/QuickTime, and how can it be resolved?

I don't know why everyone is having weird problems with Itunes. I switched from Yahoo! Music Jukebox about a month ago because of a few issues their. I have updated twice sense switching. I'm running the latest version 7.4.3.1 I don't want or have a ipod, but sense I sense I switched other than Missing album art & Itunes editing my library I've had 0 problems with Itunes, it plays & opens Has never froze. I spend a lot of time in the forums to try to help people with the probles with Itunes.

I tried several ways like:
1. Changed File>Project settings name and also set the language to English (US).
2. Checked the Title name in .hhp file
3. Used the window while compling.
4. Robohelp language settings.
5. Also uninstalled and reinstalled robophelp.
But nothing helped
The title name is displayed correctly if the same project is compiled on another machine.

When the code in the HHP and the regional settings on a PC match, the correct title is displayed. Or other way around is also true the help title is displayed in the language specified in the help project IF (and only if) the regional settings of the PC match that language. Otherwise, "HTML Help" is displayed.

T420s Crashes with Discrete and Optimus Bios Display Setting

I am running windows 7 64bit and when I boot my laptop crashes and reboots over and over when I have the BIOS Display setting set to Discrete or Optimus. If I use the integrated graphics setting it boots up just fine, but I am not able to use my dock w/ external monitor properly.
The event viewer renders no useful information about the issue. I have installed the latest Intel display driver for my HD 3000 videocard. Has anyone has a similar issue?

Uninstall the current NVIDIA driver in Integrated mode, switch back to Optimus in BIOS, and install NVIDIA driver again through ThinkVantage System Update.

API error when trying to create a display set

Hello,
I'm creating a mapping, and I'm trying to define an attribute display set in the target table to show only some of the attributes of the table. I have called it 'SHORT_LIST' and I have also selected the attributes I want to display, but when I press OK, the followig error message is shown: "API0411: Name should not be an empty string", but I do fill the display set name!
What is happening?

Not sure what is happening here. What version are you running? This seems like a bug though so I suggest logging an iTar wiht support.

Are you using a Mini DisplayPort or a Mini-DVI adapter on your MacBook? What input are you using on the TV, VGA, DVI, Composite, Component or HDMI?
Also it would help to know which one of the 21 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier.
And the make and model of your TV.
