Display showing weird color scheme

All of sudden the display is showing very faint colors. It seems to me it is showing only thousands of colors instead of millions, eventhough under display preferences millions is selected.

How do you know it is 32,000 colors, and not millions?
Have you looked at Apple menu (the blue Apple logo in the upper left corner)
-> System Preferences -> Appearance -> select highlight color's popup menu on its right and select other, and then checked the Spectrum?
Here's a sample from the
32,000 colors:
Here's a millions of colors:
Which spectrum do you see?

  • Display Showing Negative Colors From Mini?

I helped my mom buy a Mini a few years ago... 1.25 GHz PPC G4. Anyway, she has started to have LCD display issues where colors are reversed like photo negatives, such as she describes that the screen is mostly orange, icons are black, and email windows are black with white lettering.
She did not run any software updates, move the Mini, unhook the LCD, etc. After this started, I did have her hook up to another LCD she has and it looks the same there. I don't know much about the internals of a Mini, but can I assume the video card is toast?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

have her press control option command 8, it's an universal access feature.

  • Why is my screen showing weird colored blocks?

I'm getting an odd display glitch that shows up every once in a while (increasingly frequently) usually after switching to an app or opening a new tab in my browser (Chrome). It goes away as soon as I scroll. This has been happening occasionally for probably a month or so, but in the past few days it's gotten worse. It has only ever showed up in Chrome or in Sublime Text 2, but these are also just the programs I use most frequently. The glitch doesn't really bother me that much, but I'm worried it's indicative of something more serious.

It's hard to tell from the screenshots (mostly because the forums are screwing up and not displaying the full-size copies of the image when I click on them), but are those artifacts restricted to the content area of Chrome windows only? (In other words, they don't overlap into the title bar, toolbars or outside the window?) If so, it's got to be a Chrome issue. Try another browser.
If the problem extends outside Chrome windows, then the issue must be a hardware fault. You will need to contact Apple for service.

  • Opening mov files - weird color patterns + freeze

    Hi,
Suddenly when opening mov files, quicktime shows weird colors instead of a video. It also takes a long time to open, and quicktime then hangs. I don't know what I installed that could have caused the problem. I tried reinstalling but that doesn't help.
I use vegas as video editor, and there I can still import quicktime movies without problems.
It used to work before on my xp64pro!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it might be worth checking to see if you can just get away with disabling Direct3D accleration on the PC. it's also probably worth checking your video drivers too.
the following document has some nice pointers in those regards. (iTunes uses QuickTime for video playback, so the same basic troubleshooting techniques apply.)

  • Second monitor displays weird colors

    Hi there,
Yesterday I bought a Displayport to HDMI adapter (Mini DisplayPort Male - HDMI female) for my MacBook Pro 15" (Late 2011 version). I use this to connect my MacBook Pro to my Philips 32" television. Everything has been set up (I've adjusted the resolution of the TV to 1080p and put my refresh rate to 50 hz since my TV doesn't support 60 hz). But once in every 5 - 15 minutes or so, my screen turns green for a brief second and suddenly my background or whatever is on my second monitor turns in to weird colors. Sometimes it takes about 2 or 3 seconds and it switches back to how it normally was, but sometimes it takes way longer. I don't mirror my screen, I use it as a second display. But I can't figure out why the screen it switching betweens there colors and don't know how to fix it. I've looked it up on the internet, but couldn't find anything useful. So I hope you guys could help me with this.
    Thanks in advance.

  • New iMac display problem(?) - weird colors and grain

    Hello,
I'm a fresh mac user, made the switch this monday (August 27th) when my 24" iMac 2.4GHz C2D arrived. After using it for a while, I noticed a handful of dead pixels, and a semi-bright green stuck one. I thought I'd wait and see how disturbing I would find them before raising an issue about them.
Well, yesterday I decided to make my first backup of the whole system to my external 500GB Lacie drive (connected with FW800) using Super Duper!, which to my understanding is a reasonably sturdy and reliable backup application.
During the first backup iteration I started to notice some alterations in color in the top middle part of the display. I then returned to whatever I was doing (not on the mac, I had no other applications running, just Super Duper!), and after a while took another look at the display. The weird colored area had expanded, and the whole display had become somewhat grainy. Also, the backup process had slowed down quite a bit (from ~30MB/s to ~7-8MB/s).
So I cancelled the backup operation and logged out and back in again. No change. Then I restarted the whole system, which booted just fine, with none of the aforementioned problems. Even the second backup iteration went without problems.
Still, it's a new (and with my budget, quite expensive) computer, and if I get this kind of problem during the first week, I cannot continue using it happily in the fear of these problems reoccurring time and again.
I took a couple of pictures of this, one during and one after the problem. The quality of these are quite lousy, they're taken with my Nokia 9500 Communicator.
    During the problem:
    http://iki.fi/aita/imac/01notok.jpg
    After rebooting:
    http://iki.fi/aita/imac/02_ok.jpg
The images are taken in the same light conditions, but from slightly different viewing points. Note: The first image does not present reflections, it's how the screen looked (actually, in real life it looked somewhat worse)
    What do you think?
Could this be a driver related issue or have I received bad hardware?
My drivers and Apple software should be up to date (at least OS X informs me that everything is, and I haven't found newer graphics drivers anywhere).
If anyone has had the same or related problems or know how I should proceed with this matter, I would be grateful.
    Thank you in advance!

I have looked on line for a solution and found a reference that said the 'live camera filter is stilled turned on' but I don't think live filters exist any more. ive tried everything I can think of. Attached is a screen shot when using the camera.

Try the standard troubleshooting steps in this order:
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds). No data will be lost.
Restore: Connect your device to iTunes on your computer, backup, and then select Restore to Factory.

  • Mystery: XP display color scheme : silver can result in black on black unreadable controls

My setup is a Dell PC running XP Professional.  Display Dell 1901 (also does this on Default Display).  Intel 82856G Integrated Graphics driver. LabVIEW 7.1.
The color settings for the 5 controls on the attached .vi are foreground: 179 179 179 and background 255 255 255 yet some appear as black on black in the XP display color scheme : silver and some appear as black on white.  By setting the XP color scheme to default, you can use the color sample and color fill tools to change whether a control will be black on black or black on white in the color scheme : silver view.  It appears like there is some "magic property" that is not foreground or background color that is being copied with the color sample and fill tools.
    Any ideas?

    Hello,
I was a bit puzzled by this myself until someone suggested I use the "color sucker" tool to find out what the current colors of the enums were.
The color sucker tool (aka eye-dropper) can be used by selecting the paintbrush tool and holding CTRL on the keyboard.  Now left-click the item you want to check the color of.  Right-click any object to bring up the color picker, and look at the colors in the history.  The one furthest to the right (that isn't "empty") is the color you just picked up with the color sucker.
You'll notice that on the problematic enums, the background color is "Hilight Text".  This is a system color that will change depending on the theme you use.  On the silver theme, it is black or near-black.  On the others it is white or near-white.
When picking colors, you might want to be careful to watch the text next to the curently selected color box.  If it has RGB values, this is safe (theme-independent).  It's also safe to use named colors in the "User" list, such as "Control Background".  But if the named color is a system color, it can change depending on your theme.
Disclaimer: I don't know if color sucker or eye dropper is the "official" term for this tool.

  • Testing Interactive Form Logon Displays Odd Color Scheme

For over a year we have been using this one interactive form.  The color scheme, when logging into this form, has changed. The developer who created the form has made no changes, and I do not know of any changes on the Basis side that would cause this.
When I test the form from SICF, the initial logon screen has a black background and the logon window where we enter the username and password is outlined in blue. Once I log into the form, it displays properly. Any ideas on what may be causing this form to display in this odd manner?
I know it is just the colors and the form itself still works, but some endusers find it hard to read the logon screen when it displays like this.
    Thanks,

    Goto transaction SICF.
Under default_host>sap>bc>webdynpro>sap>(name of interactive form) - double click on the form
Select Error Pages Tab, within the Create/Change Service window that is now open. Switch to change mode, and Scroll down the page to select the configuration button.
This opens the System Logon Configuration Window and under Logon Layout and Procedures you will see two options. SAP Implementation and User-Specific. SAP Imlpementation has a Tmpl (Template) and SAP ICON selection. User-Specifc has a class your developer would have created. You select which option and settings for that option you want. Then select the adjust Links and Images. When I made these changes, it asked me for a transport.
Once you have applied the changes, created the transport and saved everything. You will now be able to run a test of the form from SICF to see what the new logon layout looks like. You just transport the change through the rest of your systems.

  • Spry Menu Text only displays in hover color, doesn't sense browser edge

I have a Spry horizontal menu in a website that is working fairly well in everything except IE6.  Firefox, Safari, and IE7 are all fine.
In IE6, random menu items only display in the blue hover color, so they are invisible until you hover over them.
My second problem is that the menu is right-aligned, and the button on the far right has three submenus.  I would like the second two submenus to automatically open to the left of the first submenu when opening to the right would cause them to be cut off by the edge of the browser window.  How do I do this??
Here is my code (I've customized it with suggestions online, but just can't seem to fix the problem with IE6).

  • Spry vertical menu button shows background color instead of image in preview

Hello All, I'm a newbie (to the forum and Dreamweaver) so my apologies if my question is not in good form.  I've searched for this issue but cannot seem to find the exact problem I have.
I've created a website (my first) and used the spry menu bar.  It works well using the default blue and grey colors for button and hover.  However, I decided I want to spruce it up a little and change the buttons to use a background image (rainbow pattern) instead of background color.  I internet researched this for some time and watched all the youtube videos people have posted for this process and editing the spry vertical menu bar CSS.  Using the .a and hover lines from the CSS, I was able to add my background .jpg image file.  In the design view, the button look exactly how I want them to.  However, when I attempt to preview in IE, Chrome, or FF, the buttons still have the default colors and no image.  I've gone back and deleted the default blue and grey, but then the preview just shows dark grey and white for the buttoms.  is there something that I am overlooking that would cause the background color to show instead of the image I have attached to the buttons.  I can't figure out why it looks right in DW but not in preview.
BTW, I'm editing a template file and all the pages are updated with the new image buttons, but none of the pages show correctly in preview.
    Thanks

    Point taken :-)

  • Color: Schemes--Exploration and generation

In the posts that follow you'll find links to color scheme generators and comparison charts, plus utilities and applications which can be used to explore the relationships between different colors in a variety of ways. These can be useful for building color sets that will look good on your website or in print projects.
Some work directly in your browser through either Java, JavaScript or with a Flash or Shockwave plugin; Others are applications or utilities that you download and use as separate programs or in conjunction with other programs.
Depending on which site or application you choose, they will display the colors side-by-side and also show the codes for these colors in different formats, i.e.: RGB, hexadecimal, CMYK, Lab, HSB, HTML named colors, etc. Additionally, there are some which will create downloadable text files containing a list of the colors you choose, and others will even generate swatch files that you can save and which can be imported directly into your favorite applications.

I referred to "HTML "named colors" above.
This refers to a list of 147 colors
defined by the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) Specification
which use common language, such as red, blue, green, black, etc. When used as part of HTML/CSS/XML coding these real-language names are interpreted by browsers the same way as the RGB/Hex code colors they represent.
So, instead of coding a color as "#00FFFF" or using RGB values such as "0,255,255" you may simply type "Aqua" and the proper color will be displayed when the code is rendered onscreen.
Below are links to this list of Named Colors at a few sites:
    http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_colornames.asp
    http://www.aumha.org/html/colorsb.htm
See the following link for boatloads of more information on named colors and a vast tree of links. There are many standards and systems for naming colors, and most of them aren't specific to being displayed by a web browser. However, by cross-referencing and by doing a little work and calculation you should be able to come close to replicating named oil paint or house paint colors, for example, for use in a browser. Just keep in mind the differences between reflective and transmissive color, and remember that not all screen colors are printable, and not all print colors can be displayed onscreen.

  • The new nvidia drivers, weird color blending

i tried all the nvidia drivers, but all what comes after the 53.3 have a weird color blending problem, and i can't fix it.
the problem is visibale if u r looking to an image with gradient color, u'll c it as if it's not correctly blended, and this goes weird when u work with photo editing and retouching an image, u'll think that ur work is bad.
i got to fix the prob, temporaly , by accessing the advanced tab of timing, if i just edit any number the colors go ok, once i press ok and apply, everything remain as the original, and the problem is here again.
do u have anysuggestions plz, anyhelp will be much appreciated.

man, what software are u talking about (did i mentioned any test software?)
the problem i'm facing is the color blending in all drivers after 53.3 is not showing right, the gradient still showed degrade and not fully blended, as if u turn ur display to 24 bit, instead of 32bit, but actually the result i get is like the image is displayed at 28 bit
u can't know what i'm talking about , but if u try it by urself, just open an image in photoshop or any editing application, choose any image that have a gradient shown well, and c it, u'll notice that gradient is not fully smooth, it's kind of steped, and to b sure, fill a scratch background by the linear gradient tool (black, white) and c the disaster, there is no smooth intermediate grey section, u'll c steped.
    i hope it's clear dude.
