Display sleeps only for a moment and then wakes up again
Since some days my display will go to sleep when pressing ctrl cmd eject keys. BUT is wakes up after just 5-15 seconds. It will not sleep automatically.
Screensaver is working fine. Also sleeping of the whole iMac.
Found work around: when I put settings to never sleep display I can manually put the screen to sleep and it stays. This means that there is no process waking up the display sleep. Like to solve it though. Any suggestions are welcome.
Actions tried so far:
Restarted and did a repairing disk permissions.
Resetting PRAM, and resetting the SMC.
Verify and repair disc
deleted: com.apple.PowerManagement.plist and
based on https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2164018?start=0&tstart=0 deleted com.apple.screensaver.plist
Will now reboot

you want to use the retiming tool. you can select what you want to hold, then use the "Hold" command (shift-H) to create a single frame of a default duration, which you can then change to whatever length you want by dragging the retiming handle.

Xserve Services are accessible for a moment and then can't access
I have new Intel Xserve. Set up as a gateway, open directory master, web server, etc. Ethernet 1 connects to the wan and Ethernet 2 connects to a new Airport Extreme. The client machines are Macbooks. The Xserve is set up to be the dhcp server. The Airport is a bridge.
Everything was working fine until last week. Here is what is happening: The Macbooks can use the services that the Xserve provides for a short while, ie they can browse the Xserve's websites, browse internet websites and authenticate with open directory. Then after a short while they can't. For instance attempting to get to www.apple.com with the Macbook will result in a constant "contacting ...." status in Safari. Authentication with Open Directory is no longer possible. Even trying to browse 192.168.2.1 (the Xservers Eth2 IP address) results in "contacting...." and nothing happening. Interestingly I can still ping 192.168.2.1 from the laptop.
To get things working again I've found I can simply make a change to the setting of the ethernet card on the Xserve. For example I might switch it from static ip to dhcp and back. I might change the ethernet from auto to manual and back or whatever. Just make a change to the network settings and apply then change them back and apply. The laptops will be able to access the services again for a short while (maybe a minute or two) and then things get stalled again. They won't be able connect to websites or get access to the internet etc. Again even http://192.168.2.1 won't work. Change something in network settings and change back and it will work for a short while again. Nothing is popping out at me in any logs I'm looking at.
Do I have a hardware problem? At first I assumed DNS perhaps? Since the server is pre-production I erased the harddrives last night and reinstalled OSX Server. Set it up as a gateway and webserver using the apple setup aids and the same thing. Laptops can access the server for a few moments then fail. If I make a change to the networking settings in preferences that seems to reset things for a short time and then it fails again.
I'm stumped, but then again I'm also new at this.
Xserve Mac OS X (10.4.9)&tWhen the clients keep on showing the "connecting..." screen, that is usually a DNS problem. Do you have the DNS servers correctly listed under DHCP services by the server?
If you can ping your server but cannot access the Internet try the dig command and see if the DNS servers are responding.

The last few lines should contain the IP address of your DNS server like this:
e.g. Covad DNS server
;; Query time: 25 msec
;; SERVER: 64.105.189.26#53(64.105.189.26)
;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 284
If the IP address shown there is not the one for the DNS server, you have configuration problem. -
From sleep my laptop wakes up, sleeps, and then wakes up again

I installed pm-utils and it has been working very nicely for the most part. I've noticed that when I open my laptop that it seems to wake up (at least the screen appears as it was before closing the lid) but then it very quickly goes back to sleep and I need to press the power button to bring the system back up. It would be nice if it just immediately came back when I open the laptop and skipped the second stage. This is on a Lenovo Carbon X1 if that matters. Does anyone have any advice on this? Thank you very much for any help.
neonSounds to me like there are two programs putting your laptop to sleep. One of them is probably systemd (check /etc/systemd/logind.conf and its manpage). Don't know about the other. What DE do you use, if any? Many have their own power management stuff.
BTW: I don't think pm-utils is really needed to suspend your machine to ram. I don't have it installed and my laptops suspend just fine. -
My ihone only show the apple and then turn off again
my iphone only show the silver apple when i turn on ,and it need to be when i charging, after couple second it went off again. it also wont show up in itune

HELP HELP. My iCal opens only for 5 seconds an then it closes....
Since yesterday May 27, my iCal opens only for 5 seconds and then it closes automatically.... I also have hte Missing Sync for Windows Mobile that is a software that sync my pocketpc to my computer.. it was working very well until yesterday.... it's strange... it started saying me that there were a conflict between the information in my pocket pc and my iCal, but it was usual to have this conflict but i have ersed that information but it still have problems.... i tried erasing the file com.apple.iCal.plist but it still with problems....

Another charging source? Does iTunes see the iPod when you connect to your computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and cracked or broken plastic. -
My iPhone was stolen a few days ago. It appears to be offline on the Find My iPhone app. If the person who has it turns it on only for a brief moment and then turns it off immediately, will the location still be found? Once it returns to being offline will the location still be sent to me? And also, how can I retrieve my pictures from my iCloud?

I downloaded Wild to my Ipad and I'm having issues. I've only read the first few chapters but at the end of each chapter the last page is duplicated for 10 pages and then it goes to the next chapter.
Quit the iBooks app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or ....Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or ... Delete the book and download it again in the purchased tab of the iBook Store, as long as you use the same Apple ID, there is no charge to download it again. -
When I open Iphoto, I see all my photos for a second and then they disappear and only a white dotted box appears. Then I click on it and for photos is a triangle with an exclamation point. It doesn't happen to all but quite a lot. how to I get them back
Have you recently deleted photos using the finder or run clean up software? Is so restore your backup
If not the backup your iPhoto Library and launch iPhoto while depressing the option and command keys. Rebuild your database

when i open iphoto i see my photo's for 1 second and then they are gone .The photo's are still there but i can see them only on the bottom or top of my screen when i try to open them i get a sign that it is not possible.Can somebody please help me?
Have you upgraded to iPhoto 9.6 for compatibility with Yosemite? If not, try that first.
It looks like iPhoto has lost the connection between the thumbnails and the original image files.
This can be caused by a corrupted iPhoto library, or the originals have been deleted or moved.
Try first to rebuild your iPhoto Library:
If you do not have a current backup of the iPhoto library, make a copy of the library, but do not overwrite any previous backup.
Launch iPhoto with the ⌥⌘-key combination (option-command) held down.
Select "rebuild" from the first aid panel. This may take a while for a large library.
Can you now see your photos again?
If not, rebuild the library with iPhoto Library manager as described by Old Toad: Re: iphoto crashed -
So yes like mentioned above...i am a new mac user...have only had it about four days and have had a windows based system always before this. The issue I am having is that I will be in safari and it will work perfect for a while and then i will open a new tab and attempt another website and it will either be extremely slow or will give the error that it cannot connect to the server, however, when i run diagnostics my internet is fine. The only solution i have found is to reboot and geeksquad has been unable to replicate the problem while connected to my computer to try to do so. Does anyone have any suggestions or anyone else with this problem? If you have a "fix" please try layman's terms because again I have no idea about macs haha. Thanks,

My iPhone3GS running iOS5 has recently been reluctant to upgrade Apps. The App store asks for my password and then marks all the Apps as being updated. Often only one or none actually update. Usually I get a message saying "Unable to download application" and "<app> could not be downloaded at this time - Done or Retry".
It's not an iTunes login / password issue because sometimes one or two of the Apps will download and the others stall with the blank progress bar. The internet connection is working fine in all other respects.

In Itunes store, song preview plays for only 5-10 seconds and then stops. Songs in my Itunes library play entirely from start to finish.
My Itunes previews have been playing fully now for the past few days. After trying every suggestion possible to fix the problem of 5-10 second previews, I took the advice on one feed to use OpenDNS for your network internet connection. There are internet sites that will instruct you how to do it. Just Google "opendns for (your operating system)". I have Windows XP and followed a video instruction at www.top-windows-tutorals.com/using-opendns.html. Afterward, close your browser and then flush the DNS Resolver cache; Start/Run, type CMD in the open field, click OK, in resulting window type ipconfig/flushdns, press return on keyboard. No guarantees, but my browser is faster and my Itunes previews are playing fully so far. But I still shudder every time I hit the preview button.

When trying to Airplay from my Macbook Pro Retina, to AppleTv3 it plays for only a few minutes, and then jumps back to the Mac. It seems to do this no matter what I play, music, movies or pictures. I just bought a new router. This could affect it.
I have been playing whole movies before from VLC without problems.
