Display Sparkles and Ghosting

Question

I have a 20" iMac G5 with ALS and the screen has just started playing up: I get sparkles (flashing white pixels) across the screen and windows leave noticeable ghosting once closed or moved. These seemed to be issues with the Rev. A iMac, and I purposefully waited for the Rev B hoping these problems would be solved. Now, the Rev A units are covered under the warranty extension program but, from looking at the webpage, my Mac's serial number falls outside the range.
Has anyone else experienced these issues with a later revision iMac?
The Mac is still under warranty. Will Apple fix the display even though it doesn't fit in the serial number range of recognized defective models?
Is there anything I can do about this or does the display need to be swapped out?

Thanks Eric for your answer and your optimism.
Apple Germany is notoriously incompetent for service (though admittedly that's a German problem not one specific to Apple): their CSR refused to even speak to me about this hardware issue unless I pay 49 Euro, because I'm out of my first 90 days of telephone support, and apparently they don't offer hardware repairs (even within the warranty period). I will have to search out an independent Authorized Service Provider on Monday.
Good to know that the problem is fixable though. Thanks for the feedback.
