Display strangeness in WinXP with iTunes 10.4.0.80

I'm running Windows XP Media Center Edition, SP3, and I just upgraded to iTunes 10.4.0.80 yesterday. I always keep iTunes either at full screen or minimized to the system tray. Since the upgrade, when I click on the maximize button, iTunes flashes between full screen and less-than-full screen a couple of times, while a narrow bar at the top flashes even more quickly from what looks like blue to gray. This only lasts for a second or two before it settles into normal, full screen mode, and it doesn't seem to hurt anything. But it doesn't look good, and thought Apple should know about it. I looked through the last day or two of posts on the forum, and didn't see this exact problem, though there were some other display quirks. If anyone can offer any information on this, I'd sure appreciate it.

Hello, I just wanted to say that I am experiencing the exact same problem as the person describes above. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

  • Wrong ipod color displayed when I sync with iTunes

Anyone know a way around this? I own a white iPod video classic 30G. I had the battery changed a few months ago, and since then, when I sync with iTunes, it shows up as a black ipod. I'd appreciate any information anyone has! Thanks.

Is the serial number the same as you sent in? Did it look better when you got it back than it did when you sent it (no scratches, etc.) Apple often times just exchanges them for refurbished units and I wonder if you got a refurb that accidentally got the wrong color face plate installed.

  • Extremely Slow Shutdown (WinXP with iTunes 7)

I am running WinXP Media Center 2005 (SP2) on an Intel Pentium D-950 with 2 meg RAM. Prior to installing iTunes 7, the duration of the shutdown procedure could be measured in seconds. However, now that iTunes 7 has been installed, the shutdown process takes more than 3 minutes. Do you have any ideas for fixing this issue?

My computer (PC) is having the same problem. Songs are importing at 1.0. This is ridiculous! It usually takes less than two minutes for a full music CD to download to my PC using Itunes. It's taking something like forty minutes per song. I tried uninstalling 7 and reinstalling 6 but don't try it because it doesn't work. If you try reinstalling 6, then you get a message saying that you can't load your music because the files were created in a 'newer version of Itunes.' DUH. And I checked and I can't get phone support since I've had my IPOD way over 90 days, but this is the first IPOD/ITUNES problem I've had that doesn't have an obvious answer.

    2) When i purchase items from itunes store the downloads never finishes
I have tried starting and re-starting. Resetting the Ipad to original settings and non of this have worked. Any idea to what I should do?
    Thanks a lot, Josephine

That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

  • Strange error/problem with itunes

iTunes loads normally, and I can add songs, etc. but when I press the play button, nothing happens. THe button depresses, then comes back up, but the music never starts playing and the time bar doesn't start to move like it does when a song is playing.
I know there's nothing wrong with the audio in my computer because I can play .mp3s just fine in Windows Media Player.
Sometimes, I have to reboot 3-4 times before iTunes will play the songs.
    What could be going on?

Try turning off the Compatibility Mode:

If that doesn't help, there are some additional suggestions in the document linked at the bottom of that page.
    Hope this helps.

  • My iphone fell and now shows USB on screen saying to connect with itunes but when connected i get the message from itunes tha its damaged..please help me somebody

my iphone 4s fell and display went blank, and when i restarted it shows a USB on display asking to connect with itunes, instead i went to a phone repair shop where they service iphones too.First they said that they have to install the IOS4 again in it but they could not do so due to an error so later they asked me whether they should install IOS5 i agreed but it only happened after a long struggle yet the phone remains in the same state with the display showing USB asking to connect with itunes..they could not fix it..please help me..:(

What's there to help?  You dropped your phone and now it's broken.  You'll have to bring your phone into Apple for an out of warranty exchange.  If you purchased Apple Care+ is will cost $49.00, if not, it will be $199.00

  • WinXP with two users - can we have two separate iTunes, one for each user?

Question:  On my Dell WinXPPro SP3 desktop with two users (myself and my wife), can each user have a separate iTunes - so what each of us does with iTunes has no effect on the other?
Details:  Yesterday, June 29 2012, I bought a new iPad 3 with WiFi only, my first Apple product.  My #1 motive for buying it is to copy movie files (avi, m4v, mp4, etc.) from my WinXP setup (PC plus hard drive) to my new iPad to watch the movies in bed on the new iPad. I understand that I shall need to install iTunes on both the iPad and the PC in order to move or copy the existing movies from the PC side to the iPad.  (I also understand that I won't be able to use iCloud because iCloud will not run on WinXP, only Vista and Win7.)  [By the way, if iTunes will NOT help me do what I want to do, please let me know.  But that is not my question.]
I am only one of two users on the PC.  My wife is the second user on the PC.  She already installed iTunes on the PC for her own use.  She is an avid iTunes user.   Most of the time, she does not use this PC.  She has her own WinXPPro SP3 Dell laptop, which is what she uses 99% of the time.  She has also had an iPod for some time, hence her use of iTunes.  And now, for the last two weeks, she also has a new iPhone 4S and her own iPad.  So her use of iTunes will grow.  The important point is the following - whatever I do on my side, I do not want to interfere with or disrupt her use of iTunes.  Not even for a second.
So, can I install or re-install or somehow set up iTunes on MY user on the PC so that it does not in any way use or affect her iTunes?  If the answer is "yes", please give me a step-by-step and list all details.  Is there a YouTube that shows this specifically?
More details:  Right now, in C:\Program Files, before I have tried to install anything myself, there are already folders for Apple Software Update, iPod and iTunes, which derive from my wife's installations of these Apple programs some time ago.  I have just now run the Apple Software Updater, which first updated itself on this PC to version 2.1.3.127 and then updated her iTunes on this PC to version 10.6.3.25.  (As a result, the following processes/services are now running, which normally don't run when I am the user:
      C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe
      C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe
      C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe
Also, the following processes will launch the next time I reboot this PC (which normally don't launch when I am the user):
      C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\APSDaemon.exe
      C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe )
My wife says her iTunes is NOT set for Family Share.  (That sounds correct to me, for now and forever.)
Summary:  So, how do I install iTunes for myself (for the first time) for my user on this PC so it does not - even for a second - interfere or affect my wife's use of her iTunes on all of her devices?
    Thanks !!!

Mr. Wiclee - thanks for the link.
When I said I had not "installed" iTunes on my iPad, I suppose I meant I have not yet signed in to iTunes, ever.  I suppose when I sign in to iTunes the first time on my new iPad, I will be required to create a new iTunes account?  Then refer to such new iTunes account when I launch iTunes for the first time on my PC as myself?  Or will I still need to use Method Three in your link?
The crucial thing is this - when I turn on iTunes on the PC for the first time with me as User, I do NOT want it to connect to my wife's iTunes account.  On my PC, I would want iTunes to ask me who I am, so I can then sign in with my new iTunes account that I had just created on my iPad.  How can I be sure to accomplish this goal?
In my PC, if I look at Documents and Settings and compare the two folders for we two different users, one for me and one for my wife, I can see that my wife's has Application Data and Local Settings for her various Apple programs.  However, so do I in my User even though I have not yet installed any Apple programs on my side.  I am concerned that when I finall launch iTunes when I am user, it will open up in my wife's iTunes account, which I truly want to avoid.
    Thanks.  Please advise.

    Hi there kushfromgbr,
You may find the information in the article below helpful.
    About SyncServices

    OS X Mavericks
OS X Mavericks v10.9 and later do not use SyncServices. Instead, Mavericks supports sharing your information using several network-based and cloud-based solutions. If you want to sync your information across multiple devices and computers, you should use one or more of these methods. These include iCloud, CardDAV servers, CalDAV servers, and servers that utilize the Exchange ActiveSync protocol.

  • Itunes on my iPhone 5 only displays the artist list with the UP NEXT feature.  How can I change the UP NEXT feature on my iPhone 5 to display the next songs that are to be played on my play list?

Itunes on my iPhone 5 only displays the artist list with the UP NEXT feature.  How can I change the UP NEXT feature on my iPhone 5 to display the next songs that are to be played on my play list?

    Hi Sarah,
It sounds like the songs have either not yet synced over to the iPhone, or something went wrong when attempting to sync to the iPhone. My recommendation is to uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox.
Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your iPhone, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.
If the above does not resolve your issue, see the following articles:

yesterday i connect my iPhone with iTunes then one MSG displayed on screen about backup i ignore that but same time i have lost all my installed apps incouled my pics and vids from my iPhone pls help me.

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.

  • On my iphone 4, the display is dark, and the flash is on all the time, but i can still sync my phone with itunes.  what is wrong?

ok. my iphone 4 (16GB, verizon is carrier, don't know for sure if it is  GSM, CDMA, or a 4s) has no display, the light on the front is always on (the flash) and the phone will still sync with itunes and seems to work...what is wrong?  does it need to be repaired?  oh yeah, it has ios 6.01 on it.
    HELP!

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
