Display time AND date in Menu Bar OS X 10.6

Hi All -
When I updated from 10.5 to 10.6 (which went flawlessly), I noticed that the hack that I had used to display the date in the menubar no longer worked. I tried to rehack using the same technique in 10.6 as I did in 10.5 (except instead of clicking on International I clicked Language & Text) but it didn't work.
This is one of the reference sites that has the steps I used.
http://lifehacker.com/316029/display-the-date-on-the-menubar
Has anyone been able to get it to work or have any other workarounds for 10.6?

  • Time and DATE in Menu Bar

    How do you display BOTH the time and DATE in the menu bar?

    Greg
    Here is one way: Date and Time in the Menu Bar (10.3, 10.4).
    If you are not keen on the command line, you could try this from macosxhints: 10.4: Easily add the date to the menubar which I think some people have used successfully.

  • Can you set the 'time, day, AND DATE' in menu bar ?

    I note that the DAY and Time are in my menu bar (top line of screen), I would find it more than handy to be able to have the DATE also there , there has GOT to be a simple answer ?????.
    I am having fun learning a 'new' (to me) system....the wife is now a computer widow !!!
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Click the Time - greyed out date.
    Just like a real wife -
    they don't tell you everything unless you ask ... in the right way.

  • Spinning ball pops up every time and the top menu bar keeps flashing

    The problem started today, for no apparent reason. I was working with some programs open (not many) when my screen froze. Nothing worked, so I closed the laptop to see if it would return to the home page (where you type the password) soon after I heard the 'apple sound'. The computer was restarted, when opened, there was a gray folder with an white question mark flashing in the center of the screen. I restarted the computer again.
    From this time he began to have symptoms that persist until now:
    • Every time I do some action on any application the spinning beach ball appears and for a few seconds the program is locked.
    • The top menu bar - where the icons are located ( bluetooth, dropbox, battery, spotlight, etc.) flashes every 40 seconds.
    I use this computer for work and thus can hardly surf the internet.
    I hope someone can help me finding a solution to this.

  • Why won't the date and time stay in the menu bar?

    I just installed 10.6.2 and even when I use System Preferences to check the box in the Date/Time panel they flicker and disappear from the menu bar. Why won't the Date and Time stay in the Menu Bar? Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Doesn't any bring up the fact that Apple has so many customers with problems that the refuse to help unless you pay them cash? They update you and screw you over and then offer no useful troubleshooting scenarioius to help their millions of customers. It is because they want millions of our dollars. I hate Apple.

  • Date and time only shows in menu bar

    so before i upgraded to leopard i was able to have my time and date in my desk top now it only shows in the menu bar I have tried to change the sitting system preferences but no change how can i have it he way had it

    That is no longer an option in Leopard. However, there are third-party utilities you can use. Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

    Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with your iPhone searching for service.  If you have not resolved this issue, I would recommend trying the troubleshooting steps in the article below.

  • Getting icon on the top bar next to the time and date

    When I sync my external Hard-drive an icon used to appear (time machine icon maybe?) on the top bar next to the airport, sound, date, time... and now its gone. How do I get that icon to reappear there? The icon would allow me to enter the time-machine.

    Time Machine System Prefs->check the "Show Time Machine status in menu bar."
    Note that most of Apple's status menu items are enabled this way.

  • Has anyone else had issues with changing how the time and date look on the status menu in Mavericks?

    I'm trying to make it so the year displays, but haven't been able to figure out how to change that. I have the Day of the Week, Month, Day and Time only and I haven't been able to figure out how to do that in the Date & Time or the Language & Region Settings.

    There is no option in System Preferences. However, it may be possible to set it with a "defaults write" command.
    This page shows how to set the time and date format in the Terminal, but doesn't show whether you can add the year.
    http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/75116/i-want-to-change-clock-from-12h-t o-24h-mode-via-terminal
    If you can find a description of Apple's date format code that includes the year, then it may be possible. Or not.
    I'm guessing Apple thinks only Time Travellers need to ask what year it is...

  • Can i have the orange firefox symbol AND the firefox menu bar showing at the same time?? and how??

    hi, i just downloaded firefox 16 and would like to know, can i have the orange firefox symbol thats at the top left corner of the page, AND the firefox menu bar showing at the same time??? i'm new to this, and old, and hope i can do this..thanks for your help...joan albert

    Here are two "Menu" add-ons which alter the Menu bar into one button.
    With this one you can move the new "Menu" button into the Customize Palette, and then when you hit the '''Alt''' key the "Menu will open down from the Titlebar on the left. Won't affect the action of the Firefox button when you de-select the Menu Bar.<br />

    This one I haven't used recently, but you can play with it to see what is possible. <br />

  • Can we display Cube update time and date

    Hi All,
    can we display Cube refresh time and date for user with out going into the Cube properties. Can we use any substitution variable for that?
    Another doubt----
    Will there be any systen defined default substitution variable in Essbase or anly user defined variables. IF there what are they and purpose of it?
    Regards

    After the successful cube building, you can capture the time stamp from the system into a variable and you can set the note on database.
    suppose below is the maxl script updatetime.mxl
    login $1 identified by $2 on $3 ;
    spool on to $4 ;
    alter database $5.$6 set note $7 ;
    logout ;
    spool off ;
    exit ;
    you can call the script like
    essmsh updatetime.mxl <<userid>> <<pwd>> <<server>> <<spoolfile>> <<appname>> <<dbname>> <<updatetime>>

  • Can I display both time and date on iPhone 4s home screen?

    The time and date is diplayed when I 'slide to open' but can I have the day / date and time displayed when the screen shows all the apps? Currently it just shows the time at the very top and considering I'm this is my first iPhone, I've become used to having the date and time constnatly displayed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    A pity it can't be displayed elsewhere.
    Thanks for your prompt help.
