Display - window bigger than physical screeen

The information displayed is slightly bigger than the physical screen.
ie the icons at the bottom are truncated; the text describing the icon isn't visible.

Hi,
Swipe your thumb and index finger together across the screen to descease the app window size.
Also, tap Settings / General / Accessibility. If Zoom is on, turn it off.

  • Better Display Driver under Windows 8 than Windows 7 for MacBook Pro Retina?

Anyone happen to know if the display support for a MacBook Pro Retina is better under Windows 8 than it is under Windows 7?
Ideally, I would like to be able to run 2880x1800 at True Color as well as have the HDMI out fuction as a second display (maching the behaviour while booted under Max OS X 10.8).
Under Windows 7, the highest resolution that supports True Color is 1600x1200.  This would be okay if that setting did not distort the picture (everything is slightly squeezed).  At 2880x1800, the highest color depth is High Color (16-bit) which is, well, not something one can actually use if doing graphics work.  On my 27" iMac, 2680x1600 supports True Color as expected.
Also under Windows 7, the display connected via HDMI is not recognized.
I've contected both Apple care support and Microsoft support about this, but Apple referred me to Microsoft and Microsoft referrred me back to Apple.
    Thanks,
    Warren
P.S. Personally, I think it's rediculous to even attempt to do graphics work under Windows, but tell that to the Windwows based corporate world that I freelance in.

Yes, there is a better display driver for the MacBook Pro Retina while running Windows 7 Pro.
And, the answer is so obvious, that I feel a little silly having started this thread in the first place!
The Windows 7 Professional NVIDIA drivers for the NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M card need to be installed manually by downloading them from NVIDIA directly.
If you need to do this on your MBPr Boot Camp volume, use this link:
    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Then, set the pop-up menus based on your MBPr. [Mine were as follows: GeForce; GeForce 600M Series (Notbooks); GeForce GT 650M; Windows 7 64-bit: English (US)]
What tipped me off to this is that the CUDA drivers need to be downloaded manually on the Mac OS X side to take full advantage of raytracing in Adobe After Effects CS6 and CC.  As soon as I started to run that installer it dawned on me, "Hey, you probably need to install the drivers on the Boot Camp side as well."  And sure enough after doing so, I am able select all of the expected resolutions as well as run 2880 x 1800 at Millions of Colors (32-bit).
I guess I'm showing my nearly three decades worth of being a Mac user where I'm accustomed to having about everything needed included with the OS.

Text appearance in adobe acrobat (pro) files displays inconsistently unless you zoom in. Mainly 'i's and 'l's look bigger than they should.
    The pdfs print fine though.

Try doing a spotlight search for all files that start with AdobeFnt. They will be named AdobefntXX.lst, with the XX being some number. They will be scattered across the drive... After making sure that all Adobe applications are closed, trash all the adobefntxx.lst files, those with the 3 letter extension .lst.
Then, restart the system, and open the files in Acrobat again.
Otherwise, what happens in Safe boot? (Remember, Safe boot loads only a default set of fonts.) If they display fine there, the problem most likely is a font issue, one of the fonts that Adobe installed.
Check Adobe's web support page for troubleshooting Fonts.

Contact Adobe about the whole issue, it is after all, Adobe Acrobat... Adobe's contact number is 800 833 6687.

  • Field of view: in the programme bigger than on the camera display

    The following problem occured:
When I captured footage into Adobe Premiere Elements I recognized that the field of view in the programme was bigger than the one I saw on the display of my camera. I mean, there were objects in the left and in the right corner of the frame, which I did not intend to shoot (and which I did not see in the viewer, as well).
Are there any settings I should consider?
    Any answers appreciated.

This is fairly common. Few cameras have 100% view. Some show a bit more, but most a bit less.
Now, depending on how you are going to output the footage, it might be no problem. If you're going to TV, via DVD, then the overscan of CRT TV's will possibly crop this extra area off. If you are not sure, or your audience will have newer LED/LCD/etc. TV's, you can do one of several things.
1.) Keep things just as they are, and use the Garbage Matte to eliminate the offending objects. You'll end up with a bit of black, around your final image, unless you have some sort of background behind it.
2.) Keep things just as they are, and use Crop to do about the same. Same result as above.
3.) Use Motion Effect>Scale (and possibly a bit of Position), to enlarge the image to beyond the screen area, approximating what you saw in the viewfinder/LCD. Since you will only be doing a tiny bit of this, quality will not suffer.
Personally, I'd use #3. Trust me, this is far easier in video, than it ever was with film. Without a good budget, it meant a re-shoot, should a mic swing into the frame, or a lightstand peek in at the corner!
    Good luck,

You most likely have zoom on. Double tap with THREE fingers to turn zoom off, if it is on, then: Settings>General>Accessibility...turn it off for good.

  • App (game) is bigger than the display - but zoom is deactivated

i have purchased an app (a game, ice age village) for mit ipad2 - but i cannot play it because the picture resolution is too big.....it means the picture ist bigger than the display. It seems like the display ist too small - the picture too big for the ipad.
Reinstall again didn't work - i also tried to reset the ipad.
    Nothing works.
I was also comparing all settings with my friends ipad2..... the app is running without problems on his ipad.
I'm afraid, that there is an error on my ipad
Does anyone know the solution for this problem?
(i have tried everythin on the support-site form apple ipad - nothing works)
    thanx....

I checked the monitor's settings. There are different zooming levels but nothing works properly. I think this is a specific radeon/linux problem because i tried the monitor with a Macbook Air via HDMI/mini DisplayPort adapter and the display is set correctly.

  • 15" Powerbook Display seems larger than the physical 15"LCD screen

I am not sure whether this is the right place to post this, but my Powerbook display is acting very strangely. This occurred just after I viewed a large photo in my mail application (by clicking "view slideshow"). The photo was sent to me by a trusted colleague so I don't think any funny business is going on.
After viewing the photo and then closing the window, I was surprised to see my desktop "sliding" around when I moved the mouse. It is as if my physical display is smaller that the resolution given in the Display preferences window (which I checked is set for 1280x854). So for example, right now the top Apple Menu is slightly off my LCD top edge.
The other feature is that the text is no longer crisp. This is consistent I think with my display driver (ATI Mobility Radeon 9700) not mapping to the full pixel resolution of the LCD display.
I have never seen anything like this before, even after hooking up to external displays (like a Dell 1680x1050 LCD) or 800x600 LCD projectors. Also have no clue how to "reset" things. Usually a reboot would fix something like this.
Any clues. I did just upgrade to the last Tiger version (10.4.11), so I am not sure if this is related at all to that.

I just did one check. I logged into another user account on my Powerbook, and in that account the display was just fine, so whatever is going on here is some software setting in my own account. However I am not sure how to change back to "normal". Any ideas where display settings in the hardware accelerator might be stored. Playing with the Preferences Display window doesn't make any change.

  • HT201361 Whenever I take a screenshot on my Macbook Pro, it always comes out bigger than the area I selected. How do I fix this??

I just got a Macbook Pro for Christmas, replacing my old 2008 one. On my old one, I was able to screen grab (shift+command+F4) specific area sizes (like 500x500 area) and the picture it would export would also be 500x500. On this new Mac, the areas I screen grab are exported larger than they are when I take them. For instance, I'd take a screen grab of a 500x500 picture I drew, upload it to an image sharing website, and it would appear nearly double that size.
I've tried altering my display to see if that helps, but they always are bigger than what I grab.
    Any help would be great.

To anyone who may have this problem, I figured it out. Retina display makes it bigger than it actually is. To fix this, after each screenshot, open up the image in preview. There will be a little toolbox option, and within that a box with arrows in it. Set the dimensions to 50 rather than 100 and it should be good to go.

  • I want to format my hard drive so i can have files bigger than 4GB what format should I use?

I have a new hard drive that I want to format so it will work with both mac and PC (windows) but I have files that are bigger than 4GB, what format should I use?
It needs to work with both PC and mac because I need to go between two computers etc

If both of these computers are connect to the same router, both are in your home or place of work (Both are in the same location), it is very easy to Network them so you don't have to use DropBox or the external drive to share files between them.

  • File sizes saved in MAC much bigger than saved in PC-is there a fix?

    HI everyone -
I searched and couldn't find an answer for this specific issue so Im hoping I can be pointed in the right direction.  Appreciate any help with this issue.
About a month ago got a MAC (I upgraded everything and have 12GB RAM so I know it's not the machine).  Prior to this was using PC Win 7 ultimate - same deal-AMD Phenom quad core, 8GB RAM (I'm only telling you this because it said to say this when you post-I'm not trying to be a dork)
Here's my issue - I'm using CS5 on both the MAC and the PC.  I do layered TIFF files that I eventually save to JPEG.  I noticed that when Im saving these files from TiFF to JPEG on the MAC they are bigger than when I do the very same thing-same settings, etc in the PC.
Here is what Im doing - I have my TIFF file open, I flatten it, File - Save As - JPEG.  I took the same exact file and put it on both machines to see exactly what the difference was and here is what I got when I chose quality of 8 under Image Options:
On the MAC the file size is 264.2K
On the PC the file size is 137.0K
WHY??  How can I make it stop?  I have to have these files under a certain amount when I upload them and my MAC is my main computer so I have to find a fix.
Can anyone possibly help with this?
    Thank you in advance!
    Susan
edited to add that I am using MAC OSX 10.6.7.

Thank you Marian!~  When I unchecked the boxes under prefs - file handling  that say ICON and WINDOWS THUMBNAIL, it changed it all for me in a good way
Now my file sizes are the opposite!
    MAC (quality at 8) = 255KB
    PC (quality at 8) = 261KB
You're awesome- thank you SOOO much.  That was driving me crazy!

  • Frequency display window needs to be able to reference IEC and user supplied reference curves

    Hi Guys,
the frequency display window displays white noise as a horisontal line.
Theoretically it is fine, but in the context of audio production it is "less
    fine".
It needs to be able to reference pink noise as well as user supplied
reference curves, be it plotted or in table form, table would be fine for
me, but plotted splines would fit the intuitive gui.
That saves the incredibly wasteful step of first adding a biasing frequency
compensation to audio prior to anylyzing it so as to get a display of the
audio that is actually useful in the context of audio production and
    restoration rather than acoustics.
    Kind regards
    Peter Larsen

popUp2 is a javascript function included in one of the .js files referenced on every Apex page.
It is defined as popUp2(URL,width_of_popup_page,height_of_popup_page). Referencing this function instead of calling window.open() should solve the problem you were having with the calling page's text being set to [object].
If you want only to have to only administer the URL that is popped up in one place you could, as you suggest, use the navbar or, alternatively, you may want to look at using a shortcut to store the URL value (Application > Shared Components > User Interface > Shortcuts).
