Displaying a message in forms

Hi all,i want to display a message in forms.When i am trying to do the below in whenn-button-pressed trigger i am getting an error.Kindly correct me where i am going wrong
select count(m1) from  mtl_transactions_interface;
message(m1 || 'Records inserted');
Error:
an INTO clause is expected in the select statement.How to correct the above error and display my message.
Thanks in advance!!

Thanks Manu for your reply,it will work.But,i tried it using SQL%ROWCOUNT.
m1:=SQL%ROWCOUNT;
message(m1 || 'Records inserted');
m1:=SQL%ROWCOUNT;
FND_MESSAGE.SET_STRING(m1 || 'Records inserted'); --testing
FND_MESSAGE.SHOW;Manu,however i do have a doubt.Whenever i tried to display the message using just message,it din't work out.However,it worked out when i put a fnd_message.If you have time kindly suggest me what's the diff between message and fnd_message
Thanks in advance!!

  • Display error message in forms from function "verify_function"

    Hi,
    We have a number of users with our own created profile attached to them.
    We have enabled the 'PASSWORD_VERIFY_FUNCTION' for our own profile.
    Function "verify_function" is used to validate a user's password.
    In "verify_function" we have used "raise_application_error" message in case password validation fails.
    Example:
    raise_application_error(-20001,'Password must be minimum 8 characters in length and maximum 30 characters long');Question) "raise_application_error" displays the error message only in SQL Plus prompt. How do I display the same message from Oracle forms?.
    I have used DBMS_ERROR_TEXT & DBMS_ERROR_CODE in ON-ERROR trigger. This is not displaying the error message in forms in case validation failed in "verify_function". Oracle simply clears the username/password field with a new window. We want to display the error message that occured in "verify_function".
    Thanks

    use the following code in validating the item, e.g when-button-pressed
    begin
    verify_function;
    exception
    when others then
    message(sqlerrm);
    raise form_trigger_failure;
    end ;
    OR
    instead of writing a procedure rewrite it as a function to return 1 if password is correct or 0 if password is wrong

  • How to display errror message in a form based on a procedure

    I created a single-level form based on a procedure. In this form, I would like to generate an error message inside of a custom button, so I used the following inside of that button:
    p_session.set_value (p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
    p_attribute_name => '_STATUS',
    p_value => 'Please choose a valid chair from the popup icon.');
    Unfortunately, it returned a WWV-0000 error code without any error messages. I use that code in another single-level form based on a table/view, and it works fine, but I need a single-level form based on a procedure. Therefore, I want to know if that code snippet can be used in a form based on a procedure or not? Do we have any other ways to display error messages in pl/sql besides p_session.set_value(...);
    Thanks in advance.

    Somebody please response.

  • How to compare two currency form fields and display a message if the fields do not equal?

    My form has 2 fields named Total_1 and Total_2. If one of the fields does not equal the other, a hidden field will display a message in red on the form alerting the user. Otherwise, the message does not display. Looks like a validation script but I would greatly appreciate help in getting it started. Any ideas?
    Thanks, Charlie
    charlie6067

    Since the field values that you want to compare are the results of calculations, you should not normally compare their string values, but rather their numeric values when rounded appropriately (and perhaps then converted to a string). For example, if you have two values that display as 3.14, one could be 3.1400000001 and the other could be 3.13999999999991234. When you get the field values as strings and compare them, they won't be equal though they appear to be. Even some values that are numerically identical won't be equal when compared as strings ("0.0" != "0.00") So the code could be changed to:
    // Get the two field values, rounded to two decimals
    var v1 = util.printf("%.2f", getField("Total_1").value);
    var v2 = util.printf("%.2f", getField("Total_2").value);
    // Hide/Show the error message
    event.value = (v1 === v2 || (+v1 === 0 && +v2 === 0)) ? "" : "Error message here.";

  • Scan through the records in the Form and display the message!

    Hello Everyone,
    We have a requirement, I do not know how to achieve it.
    In a Forms 6i, 2 fields Type, Comment.
    Type is a list of Values (1,2,3)
    Comment - Free Text Field.
    User can enter as much rows of data, but while user saves the data we have to validate that all the records of Same Type(Say 1). If not we have to display a Message.
    So how to achieve this? How to scan through the records in the Form. Any comments on it would be great.
    Thanks.

    User can enter as much rows of data, but while user saves the data we have to validate that all the records of Same Type(Say 1). If not we have to display a Message.I am assuming that you want to check from the first record. Suppose in first record the user coosed 1 and you will check for all the entries for 1.
    Couple of ways to do this.
    1. While user is entering first record. You can keep that selected type value in GLOBAL variable and while he is entering further records you can match type with that global variable. If it is not matching then you can display message.
    2. On KEY-COMMIT trigger you can start loop from first record and can check for all the records one by one. Like.
    DECLARE
      vVal DATATYPE;
    BEGIN
      GO_BLOCK('BLOCK_NAME');
      FIRST_RECORD;
      vVal:=:FORM_TYPE_FIELD;
      LOOP
        IF vVal!=:FORM_TYPE_FIELD THEN
          MESSAGE(..);
          EXIT;
        END IF;
        EXIT WHEN :SYSTEM.LAST_RECORD='TRUE';
        NEXT_RECORD;
      END LOOP;
    END;I would go for earlier approach and will use WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM / PRE-INSERT for type field for this purpose. Because in KEY-COMMIT the system is doing same thing again.

  • How can i display system messages(forms,rep) in prefered language

    I want to display returned messages from the system,on reports,charts,Forms buttons in users preferred language. How can i dot that
    Thanx in advance

    Hi,
    If you want to display your own message then you add those messages in a table wwnls_strings$. The strings you insert should be in a different domain like 'userdefined'. Please describe the table to know more about the table. You can then use get_string
    wwnls_api.get_string(
    p_domain => 'USERDEFINED',
    p_sub_domain => p_sub_domain,
    p_name => p_name,
    p_language => wwctx_api.get_nls_language,
    p0 => p0,
    p1 => p1,
    p2 => p2,
    p3 => p3);

    You can build a form to a procedure in oracle portal that explores the queue with the option browse and prints de type message with htp package. I made it in this way and my applicattion works right. The procedure must loop the select count(msgid) from aq$[queuetable_name] times.

    A properly formed question, with some idea of what you're trying to accomplish would be a huuuuge help.

  • How to display a message after button press ?

    Hi,
    I created a jspx page with a button.
    When that button is pressed, a lot of stuff is going to happen in my backing bean.
    This can take up to 30 seconds. (soap call etc ... )
    Meanwhile, the pressed button stays greyed out. When the action is finished, the button
    is available again.
    I want to display a message saying the action was succesfull or not, after that button is available again.
    Can anyone help me how I can make this ?
    Greetz.

    Why not opening a popup from your backing bean?
    Add a popup to your page:
    <af:popup id="yourID" bindings="#{yourBean.popup}">
    </af:popup>Open this in your backing bean:
        public void OpenPopup(String popupID) {
          FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
          ExtendedRenderKitService service = Service.getRenderKitService(facesContext, ExtendedRenderKitService.class);
          service.addScript(facesContext,"AdfPage.PAGE.findComponent('"+this.getPopup().getClientId(facesContext) + "').show();");
        }This way you can add anything you want in your popup. forms, messages, images,...

  • Problem while displaying popup message while using inputfile component

    Hi
    I am using JDEV 11.1.1.2.0, using ADF i developed and application
    in my page i have a input file component, from which i am taking a csv file and reading it through valuechangeevent of inputfile component. I have used myfaces.trinidad-UploadedFile to get the selected file and read it using inputstream.
    I have put some validation check (validation check is done while reading the file using valuechangeevent of the inputfile component), while reading the file and incase i receive any error (validation mismatch), the reading of file stops ... and before doing that i used to display error message using below method:-
    public String ValidationCheck(String attrname, String attrvalue, int rownumber) {
    String msg="Validation error found in "+attrname+" with value "+attrvalue+" of row "+rownumber+" in the file. Please correct the file and retry/";
    FacesContext ctx = getFacesContext();
    FacesMessage fm = new FacesMessage(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_ERROR, msg, "");
    ctx.addMessage(null,fm);
    return null;
    i have used the same method to display message in other places where its showing correctly but fails in inputfile component.
    Please help me out how can display messages from inputfile component??
    Thanks
    Sudeep

  • How to display error message in Billing Output Type (VF03).

    Hi,
    could anyone suggest how do i display error message via billing (VF03) output type?

    i want to display an error message from my sapscript program.
    *determine discount
    it_zmas-discount = it_zmas-gross_value - zkwert.
    MODIFY it_zmas.
    ELSE.
    MESSAGE ID 'Z0' TYPE 'S' NUMBER '999' WITH 'Please maintain cust pricing grp 34 for ' wa_zmas-matnr.
    p_proc_screen = 'X'.
    ENDIF.
    when user enter billing doc no in vf03, user will click 'issue output type' and select their output type to be printed out.
    if there's an error in the print program, it should promt out an error message and do not allowed user to print preview and print the form out.
    what i had did previously, i prompt the error message and disable the print preview button. i think its not a good solution and i am not sure how to stop the form from not printing it out.
    i was wondering is there any user exit of the output type, vofm (which i had this solutions from my previous question, but unsure how to use it) or any other solutions.
    please help.

  • Display error message in SD user exit

    Hi,
    I want to display an error message in FORM USEREXIT_CHECK_VBAP. (Include MV45AFZB)
    Afterwards, the user should be able to correct the wrong values, but the fields are locked because of the error message. How can I keep the relevant fields open?
    Thanks in advance
    Roland

    Hi,
    Instead of giving an error message...Probably give warning message..
    If you give error message..It will lock the entries..
    Thanks,
