Displaying album art and bio info

I know how to get thumbnail sized album art to appear in the bottom left-hand of iTunes. Is there a more souped-up way to get album art and band bio to appear?

To make the album art appear, hit the fourth button from the left in the bottom left corner. The one with the triangle on it. Of course, to see a albumcover, you'll first need to include them in a tracks ID3- tag.
As iTunes doesn't include the band bio in the ID3- tag, you won't be able to display it.

  • Trying to change album art and album info on ipod

i am trying to change the album art and album info on my ipod touch while it is plugged into itunes but while it shows in the itunes window that this information is gone, the ipod still has it and won't update ??
i have a nano that contains all my music with full description but would just like to transfer a handful of songs to my touch and don't want the albums listed and song titles because i just have a few songs from the artist like a compilation ?
    any help welcome..thanks

    JP:
Are you sure the artwork's gone? When you add artwork to a music track via iTunes, it is actually added via the ID3 tag, which are embedded in the song file. The only way that the artwork could be removed if if the tag was modified or you converted your music files to a format that does not support ID3 v.2.x tags.
When you Get Info for a single random song file, and click on the tab for artwork, is this pane empty?
Have you opened the show artwork box under the Source menu in iTunes? (click on the button with the rectangle below the Source menu).
Otherwise, I am at a loss as to how all of your artwork disappeared simply by moving it from one drive to another.

  • Where is the 'display album art on my iPod' option?

I only use my iPod in the car, so I don't exactly need album artwork on it. iTunes used to have an option to display (or not display) album art on the iPod. What happened to that option? My iPod is a classic, so it has a hard drive, and I'm getting tired of the constant disk access whenever it wants to display album artwork. I would prefer to get rid of it altogether.
I don't want to delete the artwork itself, because I also listen to music with my AppleTV at home. I just don't need the artwork *on my iPod*. How can I rig it so the iPod won't display the artwork anymore?

never mind, I found out that the option no longer exists:

I've decided that the easiest thing to do now would be to NOT display album artwork on my iPod. How do I set my iPod to NOT display album art? I've checked the User manual and that doesn't help.

Why don't you, instead of taking time to do that, just backup, and then restore your iPod?

  • Album art and error 50

    hi there!
ok heres the deal. i have a brand new 30GB ipod video and i use windows XP (sp2) with itunes 6. Like many other people on here, my album work was showing up in itunes, but not on my ipod. i added the artwork via my ipod in the source list. i have unchecked the box that says wheather or not to display album art, then disconnected the ipod and reconnected it. i then rechecked the album art box in the preferences and it began to "optimize album art" and update. when it was supposed to be finished it gave me error 50...something like "the ipod [my ipods name] could not be updated because of an unknown error (-50)"
i have looked all over the apple site and all through discussions yet no answers have come my way. please help. thanks.

This worked for me too. My ipod is now displaying the album art again.
im FLABBERGASTED! i was fiddling with itunes and
    the
album art (i added the artwork to the library even
though it was already on the ipod) and nothing was
working. i got the same error. then...my cat was
walking around by my pc cords and accidently
unplugged it from the wall. everything went off.
    my
ipod went back to its main menu (from the do not
disconnect)i picked it up just to see how it was
acting and now all the album art is showing
    up....im
not telling all of you to improperly dc your
    ipods...im just plain flabbergasted....
hey... i was having the same problem, and i tried
that, and it worked for me too! thanks. just
disconnect your ipod without ejecting it on the pc.

  • What happen to display album art?

This is going out to APPL! I'm a coder, been one for 30+ years! Put back the display album art! It can't be that hard! I know you dudes can do a classic view or something like that.
    Michael B's two cents

Can you be more specific?  Album artwork is still available in iTunes 12, though the UI operations to do so have changed a little.  As shown below:
    Click on the Playlists button
Select a Playlist (or the complete library)
Select Albums from the dropdown at the top right of the screen
Are you seeing something different?  iTunes 12 has also changed how you set/update/delete artwork for albums, groups of songs or individual songs - there are several threads covering this in detail ... since the iTunes 12 behavior seems to be a distinct backward step in terms of usability, there is at least the option to SHIFT-right-click > Get Info to bring up the old-style dialog where the previous functionality for handling artwork is available as it was in earlier releases.
BTW, you are not reaching Apple here - this is a forum for iTunes users.  If you have specific bug reports or enhancement requests you can submit them to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html.

  • Cover flow into album art and how to control iTunes from another app.

Hi all 2 areas of concen, one is coverflow/ album art and the other is itunes controller:
I have searched but cannot find the answer to this:
    1) I have some songs with album info already, and I used iTunes to get the album art for coverflow etc. ... some songs from the same album did not have the album category filled in, I go back and fill it in: now how do I get iTunes to recognize the album art so it shows up for the newly corrected songs?
    2) In coverflow, iTunes picked the wrong album cover, can I manually fix it/pick the right one?
    3) will coverflow only show album art for those albums recognized by iTunes, or will it use album art that I get from other sources and add manually? And what will show up in my ipod?
    and lastly
4), is there anyway to control iTunes without switching apps (if I am working in Word or safari and want to skip a song, etc)...is there an overlay controller?
    TIA

  • ++Displaying Album Art++

Hi, trying to get my albums to also display album art on first gen ipod nano. Does this only work with purchased tracks from the Itunes store?I have set up an account but dont really wish to buy owt from them!Is there a folder somewhere/ address on my computer that i can import pics/jpg/gifs to and then have them displayed?
I've also just done the software update as well, if that helps?!?!?
    Cheers all!

Here are a couple of methods.
First off, make sure you have "show album art" enabled in iPod options.
Highlight a song or album in iTunes and use the advanced/get album artwork option in iTunes.
Go to Google Image Search and type in the artist/album name and click on search images.
Double click on a picture you like, then at the top of that page click on "see full size image".
When you get that image, simply copy/paste it into the space for album artwork in iTunes.
Make sure you select the album in the browser of iTunes before you copy/paste.
You'd be surprised what Google Images can bring up. There are literally millions, and even obscure album artwork can be found.
In the unlikely event that Google can’t find an image, you can also get artwork from Amazon.
If you’re happy using images from Amazon, and don’t want to copy/paste, then iTunes Art Importer is a nice free program to do it for you.
And incidentally, you don't have to buy anything from the iTunes store to display album art.
It will add artwork to your songs in iTunes regardless, as long as the album is for sale in the store.

  • Album Art and Vi

I used to be able to create my own album art and drag and drop it in Creative Media Explorer by since moving on to Vista this isn't possible. Anyone got a solution or point me to somewhere, perhaps within the forums, where I can find one.

Reconnect your iPod to your pc. Open itunes. In itunes->edit->preferences->ipod go to muisc. At the bottom select Show Album Art. Click Ok. Then go edit->preferences->ipod->photos. Make sure you have pointed the sync to a folder that has photos in it. Select ok.
In the left pane of iTunes right click ono the name of your Ipod and select UPDATE.
That should do it. Post back your results.

  • Album art and long songtitle (zen v pl

The zen v plus will put the album art on the left side of the screen. This causes an issue when the songtitle is too long: the songtitle will now scroll. Can I change the way album art is shown? I would find it nice if the songtitle was above the album art, and the artis + albumname under it (this could solve the scrolling songtitle issue). Canthis be changed in de settings?

    Hi,
Yap... I'll pass this to them for their reconsideration.
    Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Album art and info retention

Got my 60g 5g month ago of the 3900+ songs to date only three have associated album art? Always connected to T1 connection can not retrieve. Also any idea why when I burn playlist to disk the artist/song/album etc info does not transfer or become available through net when played on other pc's. If I dup an entire cd I don't have this problem...only from compiled playlists
    60g 5g   Windows XP Pro

    1) With the CD in, go to advanced-->Get CD track names. If that doesn't work, try posting in the iTunes forum
    2) All that information is not burned to the disk. This is just the way iTunes and most music software works. iTunes cannot publish your CD information to the online database because it is not apple's.

  • Album art and info in visualizer

    Hi
Just wanted to ask if anyone knew of a way to keep the album artwork and information on the screen when you've got the visualizer on in iTunes. I like that it's there at the start of the song but it would be nice to have the option to have it there for the whole song and then change for the next song and stay just wondered if this was possible.
    Thanks
    Dan

Currently Apple does not offer this option in iTunes. I have hoped for the same thing though. If you want, you can provide iTunes feedback and requests to Apple on the iTunes portion of Apple.com
    Hope this helps

  • When I try to "Get Track Names" or "Get Album Art," the wrong info or no info is retrieved

I'm using the latest iTunes and Lion OS.
I have many songs from long ago (not downloaded from iTunes) which have incorrect album names, etc., and I want to clean them up, but when I enter the correct info and select "Get Album Art" or "Get Track Names," either nothing is found or the incorrect information is returned, respectively.
For example, I have a song:
    Artist: James Taylor
    Album: Greatest Hits
    Name: Mexico
It does not have the associated Album Art, nor does it have the rest of the information like Track, Year, etc.  It just has the Track Name, Album Name and Artist Name.  I want to update this to show that it is from the original Album, "Gorilla," so I right-click and select Info, and I fill in the Album Name as "Gorilla." When I right-click and select "Get Album Art," it tells me: "Artwork for "James Taylor - Gorilla" could not be found - though it exists in iTunes. When I right-click and select "Get Track Names," the item is updatd, and now it reads:
    Artist: America
Album: Mellow Rock Hits Of The 70s: Summer Breeze
Name: A Horse With No Name
When I rename everything to "James Taylor," "Mexico," and "Gorilla," and select either "Get Album Art" or "Get Track Names," I get the exact same thing: no album artwork found, and it renames it to America.
What is happening?  What am I doing wrong?  Do I have the wrong expectations of the two right-click options?

I don't think CDDB and iTunes Store is the same.  The CDDB gets information for CDs only (not collections of tracks made from a CD) and uses CD features such as track lengths (exact, which could be modified by a fraction of a second when you make a MP3) track count, etc. It doesn't use any information such as artist, track name. From what Mike Johnson12 was saying it seems that ITMS uses the base tag information to identify the track fully.
I have never used iTunes Store to label a track so I can't provide information there. I have no idea what criteria it uses, but for other id3 tag application and iTunes, by "exact" we mean exact.  Letter case is important, and I have even found that sometimes font can make a difference.
For album artwork I do a Google search, then restrict the finds to images and select the best quality I can find. This is also the biggest in terms of file size so I only attach the image to one file in a track. When playing iTunes on the computer it displays that image for all tracks in that album.

  • Two questions - album art and shuffling

Ok...I have two questions, but didn't really want to make two posts...
The first has to do with album art... All of my album art is in itunes and has been loaded onto my ipod (16gb, 4th gen)...I know it's there because I went song by song and did it and checked it. But my ipod chooses when it feels like displaying it...sometimes it displays it, sometimes I get the music note. If it's not there and I turn it off and on again, it will reappear...it does it on random songs when it feels like it. I tried resetting the ipod and that didn't help and it has resyncing multiple times. It's just hit or miss if the ipod feels like showing it.
My second question has to do with the shuffle feature. I always shuffle my songs, but it seems like it's only shuffling the same songs...mainly those that I first synced. Every now and then it will throw in a new song, but it seems like it's shuffling the same songs constantly....and they don't have more plays than others because I've flipped through them. It's really annoying because it seems like it's always the same songs...
Has anyone run into this also or have any ideas? I figured I'd through this out there before I exchange it out for a new one... both problems are just annoyances that are driving me nuts...especially the shuffle thing...I'm tired of the same songs!! Thanks guys!

    1) Have you checked that the album art is actually on each file? Right-click on the song and select, "Get Info" and then the "Illustration" tab. Now, press the "Next" button and make sure that all the songs that you think have got the album artwork actually have them.
People often have problems like this with album artwork, or that two versions of the same album appear on the iPod etc. These problems are related to iTunes and how the music has been setup - and not usually the fault of the iPod.
    2) The shuffle feature. I don't know what anyone else has to say about this but I find it REALLY bad on ALL iPod products. This is why: it starts to re-shuffle the music before it has played all of them at least once. I find this rather illogical and haven't experienced this with any other brand but I guess Apple programmed it like that for a reason. I thought they could have at least improved it somewhat on the Shuffle 2G as that is its main selling point. As a result, I get some songs that play 10 times and others that never play at all.
    Hope this helps.
