Displaying Asian Type

Working in Adobe Illustrator CS2, I'm trying to get the Asian fonts to work. I went into Illustrator Help and it gave minimal instruction but also a note saying "Your operating system must support the languages in which you wish to work. Consult your system software manufacturer for more information". How/Where do I find out if my Mac supports the Asian fonts I see in fonts tab in the program?
Thank you in advance for any help!

If Devangari is a font then I don't have it.
All OS X installs have the font Devanagari MT for Hindi, unless you have removed it. However this font may not appear in MS and Adobe apps, since they can't do that language.
But I do have Hiragino Kaku, Kozuka, LiSung, BiauKai... to name a few, at least that's the names that show up in my font's pallet.
These are for Chinese and Japanese. For Chinese, full info on how to use the input methods can be found here:

For info on Japanese, here is a note:

  • How to display and type in Chinese on BB bold 9000?

Hey, I'm a new user of BB bold 9000. Just bought the phone from the states, which was distributed by AT&T and it is unlocked.
I have tried couple times by following this post:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Curve-BlackBerry-8300/Chinese-Character/m-p/35515?...
In the aforesiad post, instrucation was given as:
install Desktop Manager without Media Manager on your PC
install the handheld software 4.5.0.174 on your PC (it will install inside the Desktop Manager)
seaarch for a file called vendor.xml and rename it to vendor.xml.toto or anything else
plug your BlackBerry device to the PC, and launch the Desktop Manager
in the application section, you can see the OS of 2) and install it to your BlackBerry device."
Basically what I did was to install Desktop Manager without Media Manager (5.0) version on my PC and installed the handheld software 4.6
I noticed that there's no Chinese language selection (basically no Asian languages) and I then tried 4.6 Desktop Manager which still didn't work.
Also, I am not able to find the "vender.xml", wondering if this has any impact on the application.
What should I install to display and type in Chinese? Any inputs will be appreciated!
    Thanks

  • PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document.

I am trying to down load an HMRC file ChV1 which I believe is interactive (my layman's description - I have to fill it in) but I get the message ...
"If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF
viewer may not be able to display this type of document. , etc.,
I am using Windows 7 and Google Chrome
But I have the latest version - Adobe Reader Version 11.0.10.  Can anyone help, please?
    Martin

It may be that the "PDF form" is an XFA form created by LiveCycle Designer. These forms are wrapped in PDF and to view/use one must use Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
BUT -- today one can use browsers that provide their own built-in PDF reader that cannot 'service' XFA forms.
Google Chrome is one of those browsers. So, don't bother with trying to view/use/do any thing to - with PDFs when using Chrome.
Save the PDF to your computer's HDD.
Now, open the PDF with Adobe Reader XI (fully updated of course). Process the form.
    Be well...

How do you display file type in PS Elements 10 in the Organizer for each photo?
I know you can right click and look at meta data.
In PSE 7 it was displayed under each photo.

    Two things:
    1.  Set the View option to show file names:
    2.  Ensure your thumbnails are large enough to display the data:

  • Displaying Asian characters on Solaris platform?

I have a java application that can display Chinese, Japanese, Korean & Taiwanese (CJKT) on a Windows platform. It is able to display these characters on Windows because i have installed the CJKT locales and have modified the font.properties file to provide the necessary font mappings for the CJKT charsets. But, when i do the same modifications in Solaris (i.e. install the locales & modify the font.properties to provide mappings to various fonts that support the CJKT charsets) and run the application, i am not able to see the CJKT characters. The CJKT characters are displayed as boxes when the application is run in the en_US.ISO8859-1 locale.
Could someone please suggest what can be done to enable the display of CJKT characters on an ISO8859-1 locale?
It seems Solaris has locale-specific font installation. Is there any way a font from one loacale (say japanese) can be used in the other i.e. system locale (say korean) to display characters of the first locale (japanese)?

Thanks, but it does not answer the question.
I already have the required locales installed. It is just that i'm not able to display Asian characters on an English locale. I am using the Java logical font (serif), and the font.properties does map it to the various fonts that support the CJKT (Chinese, Japanese, Korean & Taiwanese) charsets, but still the application is unable to display the CJKT characters. It seems that java makes use of the X11 fonts and they happen to be installed in separate directories, one for each locale. This could be the reason why the other fonts are not available in the ISO8859-1 locale.
Is there any way we can map use the fonts of other locales by making use of the java logical font?

  • Issue with new 'Display Summary Type in Table' Attribute

    JHeadstart Version: 10.1.3.1.26
    JDeveloper Version: 10.1.3.1
We have configured our top level groups in our JHS Application Definition Editor to have each table's first column (Primary Key) set to 'count' for the 'Display Summary Type In Table' field level attribute.
Our problem is that now that we have this handy counting functionality, we found that it breaks the row focus when entering data in a table-forum. To be precise, when typing in or modifying the field that contains the defined 'count' attribute, when we 'tab off' from that field the page seems to run some JavaScript (the recounting of the rows I presume) and loses the keyboard's focus from that row. This outright prevents users from tabbing to the next field to continue entering data - which is rather important for our application.
I am presuming that this is a bug. Any ideas on how to fix it?

    Erik, Michael,
I checked with ADF Faces development. I have a logged a bug for this against ADF Faces. Hopefully it will be solved in release 11.
There is nothing JHeadstart can do to fix this. Wherever we have autoSubmit=true generated on an item to get AJAX-style partial page requests (LOV item, summary item, depends on item), then tabbing out the field will loose the cursor, and pressing Save immediately after entering a value in the item will not save the data.

  • Displaying Date types in the grid control

I have a grid control and one of the column is displaying
'Date' type data. I am able to see the Date values in the grid, if
I define the return type of the getter function as String format.
But the problem with this is, when I click on the Date column
header, the grid is sorting the rows while treating the Date values
as String values. And when I change the return type of the getter
method as Date type (java.util.Date), I don't see any Date values
in the grid. Do I need to do any additional coding to display the
date values as Date types to display the data and then to be able
to sort the grid on Date types.
    Please help.

You should return Date values to the Flex application and
store them in the dataProvider associated with that DataGrid. For
Date-values you have a couple of choices:
    1. Actually store the time (a long Number - milliseconds
since Jan 1970) and use a labelFunction on the column to format
that values as a Date. This way sorting will treat the value as a
number, but it will appear as a Date.
    2. Write your own Sort compare method for that column. Check
the docs on Sort and SortField.

  • (no inline validation error displayed)) condition type and plsql expression

    Hello all
Is it possible to use a plsql expression (eg: (:REQUEST = 'PXX_LIST_ITEM')) AND (no inline validation error displayed)) condition type at the smae time ?
HTMLDB must be testing a substitution variable when the conditional display section is set to 'no inline validation errors displayed'.

    Hello,
I don't know for sure because I never used it, but I think you can use the pl/sql variable htmldb_application.g_inline_validation_error_cnt. This variable identifies number of inline errors found.
You can also check if the variable htmldb_application.g_notification contains a value.

  • ITunes 10.1.6.7 update has broken my foreign font display - Asian characters are now squares. How do I fix this?

The iTunes 10.1.6.7 update has broken my foreign font display - Asian characters are now squares.
They are fine on my iPhone, copying to other documents & through the Last FM scrobbler, yet iTunes shows songs incorrectly. I've fiddled with the ID3/Unicode settings - nothing changes.
For example: iTunes shows a bunch of squares, yet when I copy and paste them here it becomes ~  일렉트로보이즈
This was not a problem earlier - everything was fine in the four years or so I've used iTunes until, I believe, this update. If it was not the update, I'm not sure what else it could be?
Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you!

Thank you so much! I vigorously searched around these parts and the general internet before posting and found nothing - it's so simple, too
Hahaha, turns out it was Windows, not iTunes, that broke my font

  • Cannot display MIME type image in omniportlet

I added an omniportlet to one of my pages and I display a list of documents that the users can download.
I would like to add a column that displays an icon for the type of file (e.g a pdf icon for a .pdf file).
When I configure my omniportlet and select the Layout tab, in the column field, I can choose MIME_TYPE to display the type of document (e.g. application/pdf) but I cannot display a pdf icon. If I display MIME_TYPE as an image, the link to the image is actually src="application/pdf"
    Does anyone has any idea?
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
I was able to display a link pointing to the file directly and my question to you is: is there any way to display the list of files in a particular folder?
    Thanks in advance.

    Check the blog.
    TOP_OF_PAGE in ALV  Using CL_GUI_ALV_GRID
Now you have to use the method ADD_TEXT to populate the Select options details.
I hope you know the Function to get the selection details
RS_REFRESH_FROM_SELECTOPTIONS,. it will give into a table. so use that table and populate the TOP_OF_PAGE uisng the class CL_DD_DOCUMENT.

  • Incoming calls do not display contacts # TYPE (work, mobile, etc)

I am a verizon carrier and I recently upgraded from a curve to a tour 9630. I am on a business enterprise server that syncs with my outlook. On my old curve and other BB's, when I would receive a call from someone in my address book, the screen would display: the person's name, their number, and in parentheses- what contact number that was, ex: (work) (mobile), etc.. These are all still listed in my outlook and blackberry address book correctly. Now on my tour, on incoming calls from individuals in my address book, it only lists their name and number. The parentheses that listed what contact type their number was, has dissapeared and since I don't memorize #'s anymore, I dont know where they're calling from. Is this a glitch or a removed feature on the Tour? Or is it a setting that I can't find?

I have the same issue...not sure if my upgrade to BB OS 5.0 solved it.
It now shows # type when I answer the phone and on the call log screen.
Try seeing if #type is displayed once you answer the phone...If not Upgrade
    Cheers

OK this link is very useful: http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/db/apex/r31/apex31nf/apex31blob.htm#o
    plus the doclib application example.
It's too late here and I won't write down the detail now. The above two give the answers anyway.
