Displaying disk geometry on a disk bigger tha 1 TB

I have a raid that has a lun that is 1.94TB and I need the solaris format utility to display the geometry information (cyl/hd/sec). I am running the latest release Solaris 9. The reason that I need the geometry to show up is that the load balancing software that I am using on the 2 fiber HBA's need to see that information. How can I make that happen. It seems that any size smaller than 1TB shows the geometry just fine.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks

I have a number of RAID volumes sharing the same drive.
Disk Utility can be fussy and may need to quit/launch or restart but, creating your partitions first, so they will be identical and match, on matched drives, then drag into the RAID window.
Watch out though, that RAID window uses and remembers the prior set, which is why quit/launch Disk Utility or try opening another DU window.
I use stripped volumes but have used mirrors, or stripe and mirrors. Just be sure that it 'works' and won't be causing problems hitting both concurrently or something or interfering or slowing down performance.
SoftRAID makes it easier to setup multiple volumes and RAID.
And you can have half your drives in RAID (say photoshop stripe) and still have normal standard volumes for the remaining half.

  • Macbook Pro Retina Display Disk is locked

    Hi,
I have a macbook pro retina display with mountain lion 10.8.1.
Today I shutdown my machine and now when I try to turn it on it goes to a progress bar and spinning and it just turns off itself. I have tried recovery mode and it turns out the disk needs repair and after repair it says it can't be repaired and it should be reformat again. I've tried safe mode but it keeps doing the progress bar and spinning and it turns off again.
I don't know what happened to the machine it was on my desk all the time and it has flash storage so no failing in hard disk and bad sector.
What should I do? (I don't have a external hard drive with GUID to install ML on it and see if I can open my Macintosh HD. And I don't have a Time Machine backup).

Do you have any backups? If the answer is no, you've quite possibly lost all your data.

  • FCS v3.0 installer doesn't display disks - why?

    Hi there,
I'm trying to install a brand new FCP v3.0 Retail package onto a PowerMac Quad-Core intel xeon running OS X 10.5.7.
there are hundreds of gigs of available space.
The installer 'stalls out' when it reaches the Select an installation drive stage. The installer isn't showing any drives at all.
    am I missing something obvious?

Well first off I would start by ejecting & unplugging any external drives (IE Ext. HDD, CD/DVD/BD -R/RW, Card Readers CF, SD, XD, MS). Then I would make sure that the only application that is running is The Final Cut Installer from the DVD-ROM disk. If you still have issues when the installation section appears your system has a bigger issue and needs to have its internal HDD diagnosed.

  • My Ipod Nano is frozen and displaying disk mode !!please help!!

My Ipod nano is displaying a huge check mark and it says "ok to disconnect". It is also locked in disk mode. It isnt charging or responding to any buttons I press. How do I exit the disk mode? Will someone please help me?

Reset your iPod: hold the "menu" and "select" (center) buttons together for 7 seconds. Then the Apple logo will appear on screen. This should exit your iPod out of disk mode.

Thanks Linc and John.  This is what I did (sort of combining both of your suggestions).
    1.  I manually removed (as much as I can) MacKeeper and CleanmyMac (both trial versions).
    2.  Followed the steps and started in Safe Mode, and removed all Login Items from User.
    3.  Ran Disk Utility to repair permissions and disk.
    4.  Then started in both Safe and Normal modes.
Here is what I have discovered:
    1.  In Normal mode, it is definitely faster than ever, but the one problems still lingers.
    2.  However, in both Safe and Normal modes, it takes approximately 36 seconds from the time the Desktop screen appears and the time the HD Volume and other Desktop folders appear on Desktop.  (There are only a few files on Desktop.)
    3.  When opening Application folders, the generic icons of the applications appear first before the customized icons replace the generic after about 2 seconds.
    4.  Files do not immediately appear after opening a folder.  (But afterwards, the files appear quickly when reopening a folder.)
I ran Etrcheck again.  Below is the results.  What do you think the problem is?
    Thank you.

  • Windows XP displays "Disk Error" message during initial setup

I have gotten as far as choosing C:Partition3 <BOOTCAMP>[FAT32]. Windows setup then copies a bunch of files, initializes and then restarts and tells me to press any key which I do then I get a disk error and have to do a hard restart. I am never taken to the screen where I am to choose between NTFS and FAT so that I can format the partition.

A SOLUTION TO "INSTALL XP PRO SP2 INTO BOOTCAMP WITH LEOPARD, BUT NO OPTION TO FORMAT PARTITION"
After spending 14 hours trying to follow each and every leads in various discussion rooms, i was overjoyed to finally see the Windows logo on my screen.
    THANK YOU TALEZ !
I followed carefully what he and Paul Thurrott's Supersite instructed. Below is Talez's advice:
Check to see if there is a file named "winnt.sif" inside the I386 folder on the Windows XP CD.
If there is follow these instructions to rebuild the Windows XP CD:

Skip steps 2 and 3 (since you already have SP2 built in) and remove the "winnt.sif" file from the I386 folder before going on to step 4.
If this was not working, my last option would be to reformat the whole Mac HD, install Windows, re-install Leopard and retrieving my data from Time Machine - although this is highly risky and not recommendable.

  • Ipod is displaying "Disk mode OK to disconnect" and is frozen on that screen.  How do I get out of that screen?

My Ipod Nano is frozen on the screen "Disk Mode OK to disconnect" and has a large check mark.  How do I get it out of this screen?

    Hello there,
Have you tried a reset yet?
To do this on an older nano with a click wheel, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If it's a 6G Nano, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons together until you see the Apple logo.
    Any luck there?

  • Dvt:map - Example of displaying line geometry ?

    Hi all,
Does anyone know of an example that shows how to display themes that contain line geometry objects (e.g. delivery routes, bus routes etc.).
All the examples I've found so far only show how to display points or polygons (areas).
I tried to use a predefined theme but ran into another problem:
Re: dvt:map - how to use a predefinedTheme with bind variables
    Regards,
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
    Thanks for your immediate response.
My requirement is some how different from yours. In our case, there are certain graphs generated using Map Builder tool & are avaiable through the Data Source.
So, i need to integrate the base maps with UI. Im able to do that independently.
Now, my requirement is to changing the map dynamically while doing zoom in. Lets say, i have 3 maps. which are Area level, Region Level & Building Blocks Levels.
For each category i have a map. Initially, i need to display the Area level map...while doing the zoom in, depends upon the zoom in level i need to change the map dynamically to Region Level map. Similarly with Building block level.
I tried to do this from the backing bean by getting the Map Component & by getting the zoom level changing the property value of the map to region level map.
But the attribute "selectionListener" of <dvt:map component is not working for me. Hence got strucked here...Do you have any sugestions on this how easily we can do this.
    Help me in this regard.
    Thanks,
    Konjeti

  • G460 Disk Read Error

Can someone help me, i'm figuring out what caaused this problem and i have so many files in my computer. When i turn it on it doesn't go through the LENOVO screen, then after 2 or 3 minutes it displays Disk Read Error, please press ctrl + alt the delete. the Harddisk light doesn't light up. and it makes a horrible noise. the noise I hear is like a Hard Disk spinning without a disk.

it seems your harddisc is dead. ( or possible connector issue )
if you have external harddisc box, remove your hard and replace into it, test your harddisc.
if it works, backup your data, replace your harddisc into computer.
try to re-install operation system. if it doesn't work, call lenovo and ship your computer back to service.

  • MAXL Disk Volume

"display disk volume 'application'.'database';<BR><BR>What are the preconditions that need to exist for this MAXL statment to return rows? There are no predefined volumes in my essbase installations. I want to get the same results as you do when you issue "listfiles 3" within a ESSCMD session but using MAXL.<BR><BR>Thanks<BR>Razi<BR>

If this is on a Windows server, you might try:ALTER DATABASE FFT_DLYT.FFDLY_T SET DISK VOLUME "D:\\" file_type INDEX; If "D" is the drive letter and you want the index files placed in the root directory.

  • CS - Scratch Disk Error, Hanging Crash

Photoshop has started flipping out on me for no good reason. Anything can trigger this 'hanging crash'; it appears to be completely random and regardless of file size, color space, tools in use, or anything else.
I get an error window, then the program locks up, spends at LEAST ten minutes failing to shut down (costing me a lot of idle time), and then finally closes. Force quitting will not speed up its 'crash' or stop it from beachballing. In addition, while it is taking its own sweet time to believe that it's been force-quit, it bogs down the rest of my machine so I can't hardly do anything else. Activity Monitor, however, will not show it as an active/running program.
I've run Disk First Aid and scraped off the preference barnacles, but it doesn't help. There USED to be a way to make the scratch disk bigger (I thought maybe it might somehow be running out of space) but that doesn't seem to be an option anymore.
    This is the error window.

Okay, so... I just installed CS4 a little while ago.
I am STILL getting the same issues. Either it will just go into Spinnyball Neverland until I force quit it (which takes a good 10-15 minutes to even clear), or I get the exact same error message above.
No other CS4 products cause this error.... JUST Photoshop. What the fel is its damage? Can't anyone tell me?

  • Diskinfo -a command not listing the newly added disk

    Hi,
I replaced an internal disk on my T4-1 box. After the replacement, I am able to find the disk listed in:
    echo | format
    cfgadm -al
df -hk (have mounted a file system on this new disk)
But the issue is that I am unable to find the disk getting listed in the diskinfo -a output.
Please suggest what needs to be done.

Seems like the issue will get resolved if I can remove the old entry of the disk in the cfgadm -al output.
But in our setup we can not use the luxadm command to make the disk unused.
So please suggest any alternative way to remove the extra entry (old disk's):
    # cfgadm -la | grep “c10::”

Please note that the diskinfo command was added to Solaris 10U10 to provide the disk location, but due to bug 7093855 it only displays disks from the first controller. This will be corrected in S10U11.
