Displaying error messages on the same page

Hi All !
I'm developing a web application using JSP.I want to know how to validate any entry in a Textbox.I want to prompt the error on the same page where that corresponding textbox is. I'm a newcomer to the world of JSP and wouldn't understand a esoteric Servlet/errorpage language,so I request you all to explain your answer.
Also,I'm writing that JSP-Oracle database connection string(all that conn,stmt,try,finally etc.) on every JSP page and this amounts to a very big code.Can somebody enlighten me on optimising this.For instance,a class or program which can be called everytime I wanna make a connection to database.One more problem is that I wouldn't know where to write a class or that program and how to call it.So ,I'm sorry,but if you are replying you have to help me out with this problem also.
Too much to ask,I guess!!

Need help in displaying error message on the same screen

Hi Experts,
I have written a report which gets called from IW52 by clicking one of the action items. Now in my report when I am trying display an error message it is getting displayed at the bottom of a blank screen. My requirement is to display it at the bottom of the IW52 screen, so that user can rectify the error.

Hi,
Probably you need to find a way to enhance the standard code.
But make one thing sure that the code (included bu you) gets fired only when that specific report is being executed. Else it may harm the standard functionality.

Display error message on the user profile modification page identity system

HI All,
I have created a workflow for chang attribute for email id. I have associated an external action to th workflow id which will check the emailid uniqueness in OID.
When an end user login to OAM user manager and clicks on update my profile, use can see a button with modify request beside email id. when user modifies email id and save the changes, we are able to display email id already exist message in the next page of user profile. but we need to display the message on the same page.
Can any one help us.

You can do this using java script throwing an alert popup or you can check if the fields are initial in oninputprocessing and fill a variable like gv_error = 'Enter values of mandatory fields.' and display the same in layout using
<phtmlb:messageBar id = "messageBar"
type = "<%= gv_severity_str %>"
text = "error"/>

Internet Sales B2C - Display error message on the basket

Hi, I am working on developments on the Internet Sales B2C scenario. I am trying to add new checks that are to be performed after the user has clicked the "Order" button on the basket.jsp page.
I have already created the action and the BO, BOM, and Backend object and I changed the action flow so after b2c/basketcheckout.do instead of calling b2c/maintaincheckout.do the system calls my own action, and if I have an error what I am doing is calling the addMessage() on the Basket object, and then sending the action flow to b2c/basketdisplay.do.
Everything is working fine except that the messages that I add to the basket are not shown when basket.jsp is displayed and I think this is because somewhere after the b2c/basketdisplay.do action is called and before the basket.jsp page is displayed the standard deletes any messages on the basket.
Should I change my program so instead of calling b2c/basketdisplay.do I call a different action to display the basket but keep my messages?
Does anyone has any better idea than what I am doing rigth now? I would gladly appreciate any help.

Display error message in the status bar during PBO

Hi All,
I want to issue an error message on a program's selection-screen.
The thing is when I issue an error message inside PBO, all the text in the selection-screen are gone and replaced with lines.
So i displayed the error message in the status bar.
MESSAGE S074(Z4) DISPLAY LIKE 'E'.
But the problem with this is that it will allow to continue data processing.
What shall I do in order for my error message to behave as an error message and not as a status message?

Write your message in PAI same as you have done MESSAGE S074(Z4) DISPLAY LIKE 'E'.
after this use call screen 'your screen no'.
it will not lock the field.

Error Message on the list page

What is the following error message?
"The HTTP request parameter 'AccountList.LAYOUT' contains invalid data."
When clicking the arrow which changes to the next page, an error message is displayed and following records are not displayed.
It seems that this error occurs in List which newly created.
If anybody know about this error,please tell me.

this error message is unknown for me. But I would recommend you to open a Service Request and ask Oracle for possible cause for this error message.

Display regions dynamically on the same page

Hi
I have 2 regions.Top is an interactive editable report.Bottom region is a read only report of the same(top region)
But when i click search button(based on paramters 1&2, i am not able to see the same number of rows.
Top region shows 5..But bottom region shows not the same.
Is there any custom process i need to add ?

How to delete the error message in the Web page Message Monitoring

Hi All:
I'd like to ask a question.If there is error message in the T-code sxmb_moni->Monitor for Processed XML Messages,I can cancel the error message manually and archive the message. After that,I can delete the message from "Monitor for Processed XML Messages".
But after those operation,I find in the web page " Message Monitoring", there are still messages in the "Messages from Component Integration Server and/or Adapter Engine".
How can I delete those message both successful and error.

A way to display error messages from the program

Dear all,
I am looking forward to display a set of error messages(in a internal table) during the execution of the program to the user.
I wanted to know the better way of displaying error messages from my program with more options.
Well I tried out using displaying errors as ALV list/Grid or as simple list processing.
But I found some stanadard transactions (Like in MM and FI where errors are shown in a better way, but failed to find out how they are done.
Please guide me.

Try to use application logging it has a very good way to display a set of messages.

Displaying database results on the same page

I am relatively new to dynamic pages and have only just
recently created a PHP SQL setup using Dreamweaver CS3. I have no
issues in displaying items from a recordset on a page. I have even
used the "Master detail page set" function in CS3 to have a small
selection of records from my recordset on the page as reference
points to then open up a detail web page showing all the records
for that item. But this is not what I want to do.
I have used CSS to created a two columm page, which I have
then saved as a template (left sidebar and then main content on the
right). The scenario is that the database has membership details. I
want to be able to have the membership numbers displayed in the
left sidebar, with the main content of the database record for that
member displayed in the main section of the page. If I click on a
different membership number in the left column I want the main
content to change and display the records for that member.
I guess what I am trying to say is I want the "Master detail
page set" functionality but rather than opening a seperate web page
for the detail, I want it displayed on the same page.
As I said, I am new to dynamic pages. A way I thought of it
being done was to use frames but I don't really want to do that as
it means making up a whole new set of templates. Is there a simple
way of doing this?

How to display error message on the screen

I am new to WD world and need all possible steps to resolve the following issue.
I need to display the error message on the screen if any required field is empty when user click on SAVE button.
I have set the attribute GO_MESSAGE_MANAGER and check the both box for PUBLIC and REFTO and set the associated type IF_WD_MESSAGE_MANAGER under COMPONENTCONTROLLER.
Under the method of COMPONENTCONTROLLER set the value WD_THIS-GV_NAV_FORBIDDEN = IV_NAV_FORBIDDEN. Which is type IMPORTING of associated type WDY_BOOLEAN.
GV_NAV_FORBIDDEN has been set to attribute WDY_BOOLEAN in the COMPONENTCONTROLLER.
Under the ACTION (on SAVE button) of my default view (VW_DEFAULT) I am doing the following.

Display search results on the same page

I have a text box with a submit button to the left. Once the user enter the a number in the search field my select query executes.
My question is how can i display the reult on the same page? I have been able to display results on the same page but my table headers are also displayed at the same time while user is trying to enter the item number.
i tried using <c:if> but its not wokring, Any help?

If it is the 1st one (pop Up) then you can use Koti's threads.

How to get error message on the same jsp

Hi guys,
I have a login.jsp page and I want an error message to be printed "login failed" in the same jsp page when the user enters the wrong credentials.
Any ideas on how to do that is highly appreciated.

If you use struts it would have been a lot easier and better than only JSP.
In struts :
Add this line in ur JSP page
<html:errors/>
In ur Action servlet ex: LoginAction.java add thsi code extract in the appropriate position ...
ActionErrors errors = new ActionErrors();
errors.add(ActionErrors.GLOBAL_ERROR, new ActionError("error.user.wrong"));
if (!errors.isEmpty())
saveErrors(request, errors);
But in JSP do something like this:-
If authentication fails then post to the same JSP and put this code in the reqd position...

if(postFlag.equals("FAILED"))
%>
LOGIN FAILED

%>
So for JSp simply set the request parameter (postFlag) to SUCCESSFUL/FAILED from your servlet.
