Hi Mohamed,
I can think of one way :-
1. Create a new page.
2. Add your Web Clipping Portlet to this Page.
3. Publish the Page as a Portlet.
Now, you have the best of both the worlds - a Page that has a URL & is also a Portlet !
You can cimply add the Portlet to your other Page. You can also create a button and when a user clicks the button, you can write a simple JavaScript to function to open the URL in a new Window.

  • Display PDF files in a NEW window

    hi there
    i offer PDF files to download on most of my webpages. example: http://www.khanomTOPproperty.com/khanomTOPproperty.com/northofkhanom.html
    i would like them to load in the browser first (not automatically download), but in a NEW WINDOW, and then give the visitor the option to download it (which is the easy part of it).
    even if i don't focus on opening in a new window (which is what i have now online, to make it available at last) the problem is that not all browsers display the file. some download it immediately. it took me quite a while to find out how different browsers handle it, and since it is very different i made a "browser ABC" help page on my site, explaining the different behaviors of browsers (http://www.khanomTOPproperty.com/khanomTOPproperty.com/browser_help.html). safari is great as usual and displays the file, so one can downoad it then (or not), but google chrome (and others) immediately download them without displaying them. by the way, i did NOT zip the files.
    so, how to make it sure that the files are displayed (not directly downloaded) in every browser, and, as mentioned above, i would love to have it in a NEW WINDOW( or tab, but better window), to make it easy to go back to the previous page without having to reload.
    and yes, i too think ISSUU is great in terms of display, i tried it but immediately forgot it when i found out that the visitor has to log in first (actually become a member of ISSUU) before being able to download - and i don't want to force my visitors to such things - the same way i will never have any advertisement on any of my pages - i don't want to make visitors angry...
    thanks again, i know - lots of questions, but the result of a few weeks iWeb work, and i did not find the answers in the forum yet.

    hi wyodor
    oh wow, you answer almost faster than i can ask - that's what i call turbo.
    sounds very simple, and i tried it. the problem is that it is not so easy to make this link. i tried to find one of the several PDF files i have to make a test, but even this was not so easy. in cPanel i have a window which pops up when i open the file manager. it gives the option to access through
    a) home directory
    b) web root (public_html/www)
    c) public FTP root (public-ftp)
    d) document root for:
    (and then the domain names)
    which one is the right one to enter if i want to go to my PDF files? yes, OK, not an iWeb question, but maybe you can...
    anyway. i managed somehow to get to the PDF files. to my surprise i have seen that each file is there not only one time, but twice (the second time with a "_1"PDF. any idea what happened there? i only need one, do i?
    OK. so i found one, localized it but still can not get the link for it. the only link i find (in the browser address bar) is the FOLDER where the PDF files are located. i don't think this will do it, as i guess i have to specify the file exactly, otherwise how can iWeb know which file i want?
    how can i get a link to this file?
    additional question: whenever i update my website, will this path be remembered? i guess so.
    practically this means i will (should i be successfull and be able to create a link to these files) have to upload the PDF files BEFORE i can create the link in iWeb, Yes?
    you see, i am really a professional (...) - if i would i would probably switch to the other side and help greenhorns like me in the forum.
    by the way - are aou working for apple or is this just some sort of hobby?
    thanks again and warm regards

  • How can i Open mail attachments in a separate Window

    Who knows how I can open attachments from mails like PDF and so on in a new window so that I just see he attachment not the email text and the attachment?
    Mercy

    if you're using the iPad's mail application just tap on the attachment and it should open up in a new window with the attachment shown full screen. if you're using a web site to view you're email it's up to the particular site though if you do a long press you may get an option to open the file in a separate window
    Really hope that helps

  • Enhanced podcasts, images do not update in separate window?

    Hi all, when I watch an enhanced podcast, the images update in the itunes artwork window as they should,
    but if I click on the window to display the images in a separate window the images do not update in the new window,
    if I do this with a video podcast then it works just fine, the video plays in the separate window without any problems,
    is this a bug, or is itunes not able to do this yet?
    cheers, Rob

    Hi Rob,
    Did you ever figure this out? I posted two similar questions (with no replies) before seeing yours. If this feature does not exist, I am thinking that this is something that Apple needs to address in the next iTunes update. Since Apple is promoting enhanced podcasts, it is only reasonable that iTunes make them easy to watch.

  • Display .doc file in new window by url

    Hi all,
    I hope someone got a quick an easy solution for this one.
    I want to access and display (open/save) a .doc file in a new separate window by using createExternalWindow(docUrl, xxx, xxx), where docUrl is a path on the local webAS. Right now I access the file like this:
    File doc = new File("apps/local/filename.doc");
    wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createExternalWindow(doc.getURL(), "", false).open;
    This does not work though, since it gives me the absolute path from the hard drive letter and down, ie: c:/usr/sap/../filename.doc
    We havent installed Office Integration on our webAS.
    Anyone? All help help is appreciated. This doesn't feel like it should be a big issue?!
    Best regards,
    Andreas

    Andreas,
    Here is probably not the optimal and not the most intuitive way to perform this task, but anyway:
    1. In View controller context create attribute with type <b>binary</b>, let us name it <b>MyDoc</b>
    2. In View controller source define private variable
    private ISimpleType _msWordType
    3. In View controller wdDoInit method place the following:
    _msWordType = wdContext
      .getNodeInfo()
        .getAttribute("MyDoc")
          .getModifiableSimpleType();
    ((IWDModifiableBinaryType)_msWordType).setMimeType( WDWebResourceType.DOC );
    ((IWDModifiableBinaryType)_msWordType).setFileName( "MyMsWordDocument.doc" );
    4. Use the following docUrl when calling createExternalWindow
    /* Load document content first */
    final byte[] documentContent = loadDocumentBytes();
    /* And now the trick itself */
    final String docUrl = _msWordType.format( documentContent );
    We successfully apply this technique to display photo from employee profile loaded from database

  • Chrome will not display a YouTube link in a separate window, but IE will..Help!

    I have published a file so that user clicks an object and You Tube video launches in a separate window, This allows the user to close the window and return to the cap file.  When I launch file using Chrome and user clicks the object, the You Tube video appears in the current window.  The back button is not available.  User closes the window and is kicked out of Cap file.  User must get back into the Cap file to continue.
    When I test this using IE, everything works correctly.  Why doesn't this work in Chrome?  I need a fix so that no matter what browser is used the YouTube video will open in separate window.

  • Preview: In a group of PDF files in the same window, going to the next or a previous PDF file displays the bottom of PDF by default, not the top. How do you change this?

    Preview: In a group of PDF files in the same window, going to the next or a previous PDF file displays the bottom of PDF page by default, not the top of the PDF page. How do you change this? In Mac OS 10.9 and previous, going to the next or previous PDF file displays the top of the PDF by default. Is there a way to change this back? When I go to the next or previous PDF file, I want to first view the top of the page, not the bottom. This really doesn't make any sense. Any help? Thanks!

  • Why is My MetaData Window of Bridge CS6 Displaying Incorrect File info?

    The File Properties tab in the MetaData Window of Bridge CS6 is saying that my file is 72 ppi but when I open my file in PS it is actually 300 ppi 15x10 inches. See screen grab below. I understand that 72 ppi at 125" x 41.7" is the same as a 300 ppi file that is 30" x 10" or 9000 x 3000 pixels dimensions. But why is bridge making this conversion and displaying the file resolution as being 72 ppi when the file is 300 ppi? Is there a preference setting somewhere that I need to change?
    When I look at these same files from another networked machine using Bridge CS6 the Metadata window is showing the files as being 300 ppi? Is there a setting inside Bridge somewhere that is making it show all files in the Metadata window as being based upon a 72 ppi resolution?

    jonnymo,
    I believe I should have said Yosemite/Column view.
    Has the issue appeared after an upgrade to Yosemite?
