Displaying Iconic Button images

Hi,
I have installed 9i Apps Server with Forms6i and have deployed an already existing application on it. The Iconic buttons are not displaying any images. Is there a patch that I need to install ? if yes, which one? Otherwise, whatelse needs to be done in order to deal with this problem ? Thanks for anyone's help in advance.

I have all the gif in the directory and the physical directory's path is defined in Registry.dat file. Still no result and I cannot get the iconic button images. Appreciate your feedback but any other suggestions.

Yes, but you can see the imagetype in google. For gif's you will have no problem, if you're on client-server, it might be difficult to find ico's.
The size doesn't matter for buttons (but of course they should "fit")

Forms Server 6i and iconic buttons

Hi,
I've seen this problem on the discussion boards here, and have followed instructions given, but i still cant get my forms to display iconic buttons. I have converted all my icons to .gif and they seem to be fine.
My wdbsvr.cfg file contains this dirmap for the location of the icon gifs: "C:\ORANT\webdb\images /images/"
and in the registry.dat for forms server i have
default.icons.iconpath=http://rocko/images/
default.icons.iconextension=gif
and in my forms app, I put the icons as "myicon" (without the quotes)
If put http://rocko/images/myicon.gif i get the icon i want. Everything SEEMS to be configured properly, yet I still dont see any icons. I'm using the latest version of JInitiator, in a separate frame. Can anyone see what i'm doing wrong, or give me any help? Please say yes!! :)

Hi,
i think u might need to go to JInitiator and check Show Java Console(This will show u all the
Directories and files Forms 6i reads at the time of execution).
Try accessing your form on Browser, u might need to check, does it really reads below directory where u have u'r gif files
C:\ORANT\webdb\images /images/

am afraid u r configuring the wrong file path pls verify....
formsweb.cfg
path = c:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\<my_domain>\config\fmwconfig\servers\WLS_FORMS\applications\formsapp_11.1.1\conf
registry entries as well

Displaying Icons on buttons --Urgent Help Please

I have been trying to display icons on push buttons. This is what I did after reading the white papers. Still it does not work. Please help.
1. Created a folder on my Oracle home called images
2. From Ms Dos ran d:\OracleHome\jdk\bin\jar.exe -cvf d:\OracleHome\forms90\java\images.jar *.gif
3. Changed the formsweb.cfg
imageBase=codeBase
archive_jini=f90all_jinit.jar,images.jar
( here I even tried Flip flopping the two values. The Jinitior part wored but the image still does not show.)
4. Saved the file , started the listner and ran the test form.
5. Named the Icon file name to Aflist (no extensions)
DOES NOT WORK.
Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Help.

I have opened the .jar file and saw that it is having the full path. myImages.jar is created in oracle_home/forms90/java directory. No luck.
Now, I have some question about formswerb.cfg file, I do not see any section pertaining to the form that I developed and deployed. How is this config file referenced when my FORM is running on the browser?

userid=I changed the form to EMP1.fmx, but even with test.fmx file in place, my EMP1.fmx runs just fine. I am baffled with the arrangement here.
Can you explain or direct to some documentation, where I can find precise information about what the following files do, from a developer stand point, what changes do I need to make in these files before deploying the forms on the browser.

Hi,
the thread is just for the background image (for all elements).
if you want to display icons instead of role names, you have to create your custom top level navigation using the
navigation taglib from SAP. There are lots of examples. make a blog search for Mr "Kannengiesser" from SAP.
In case you are using already an EHPx in your EP 7.0 the AJAX framework might have this feature.

How to display iconic images using forms 9i

Hi,
i had created a simple push button ,and made its properties iconic=yes and icon file name =c:\temp\save
i had copied the save.GIF file in the c:\temp path
also i had made necessary changes in the orion.web file
and registry.dat
actually i had the metalink document 203846.1 and followed all the step written in that doc.
but then also during run time i am not able to see the icons.
Can you give me a sample code having only one push button
and all the changes in different files to make the icons appear in web.
I had tried all the steps so pl give me the sample step by step code.

Hi Kumar,
I think if you follow the oracle note 203846.1 more or less it should be fine. I took a little exception on step 7 which requires modifying the registry.dat file.
I ignored the step 7, try this in forms builder for button property
1) icon filename=save
2) create jar file for icons under c:\temp directory, using the command
C:\Temp>jar -cvf icons.jar *.gif
please note that file save.GIF should be save.gif since java is case sensitive.
3) modify the following entries in file <9iDS_HOME>\forms90\server\formsweb.cfg
archive_jini=f90all_jinit.jar,/forms90/icons/icons.jar
imageBase=codebase
so this should help in your test form to display icon at runtime.

I am looking for a modern Windows 8 stile (Metro stile) Icon, button or image of voice. Person speaking… I want it to match the rest of the app. Is there any place in Siean where I can find something like this? Does Microsoft have any
other place for all its modern stile icon and button?

I'm searching for a TextBox Class which can display Icons / Images as well. This is possible with the JTextPane, but it's not possible to copy/paste icons. Is there an improvement of this class or a better solution available?

Set the property "Iconic" of the button to "Yes" and enterthe iconname in the Property "Icon Name" (without path and extension).

This feature I am trying to use in Oracle Applications 11i.
My environment is on HP Unix both database and web server.

NO image on iconic button in Forms Builder

Hello,
I'm using Oracle Forms [32 Bit] Version 9.0.4.0.19.
When I open any .fmb file I dont see any image on iconic buttons.
All my .gif files are in .jar
Is there any way to fix that?

The Builder cannot read jar files. Also, only gif, jpg, and ico files are supported for the 9.0.4 and newer Builder. In order to have the Builder find them, you need to set the following environment variables (usually in the Registry):
UI_ICON=<some path to the images>
UI_ICON_EXTENSION=<the file format extension - like gif>
Note that this only applies to seeing the images in the Builder Layout Editor and has nothing to do with a running form.
