Displaying icons in forms 9i
I am new to forms 9i. I want to display icons in my menu toolbar.
Please send me the solution to display icons.
Thanks for ur help.
We tried to follow the instructions on the webicons.pdf file but we still can't see our icon in the forms builder or on our local machine webserver. We created a jar file but now we don't know how to reference the jpg in the properties of the button on our form. What we are trying to do is create a down arrow button to envoke a LOV. Is there an easier way?

Icons are displayed properly on design layout of forms 9i.
But at runtime these icons are disappeared !! why?
Can you tell me how to display them at runtime?
Thanks in advance.1. convert the icons to gif using appropriate software with 18 pixel width and 18 pixel height
2. open the dos command and enter to the directory where all gif icons exist.
3. at that directory type:
c:\oracle9i\forms\jdk\bin\jar -cfv myappicons.jar *.gif
this to put all gif into jar file called myappicons.
4.copy this myappicons.jar into the following folder: c:\oracle9i\forms90\java
5. open the registery.dat file located in forms90\java\oracle\forms\registery and add :
default.icons.iconpath=the directory where the gif icons exist
default.icons.iconextension=gif
6. open formsweb.cfg file located in forms90\server and replace the text: archive_jini=f90all_jini.jar with :
archive_jini=f90all_jini.jar,myappicons.jar

Icons not displaying in oracle forms.
Hi All,
I am trying to display icons on Oracle forms 10g.I just brought over these forms from another system and I am trying to display the icons like next record, clear form etc..
I have done the following steps so far. The icons are still not displaying. Appreciate any help.
Created a folder in D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java called icons.
Copied all gif files and jpeg files into icons. Then created a jar file.
D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java>jar -cvf my_icons.jar icons
It created the jar file in the same directory D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java
Also changes were made to these files as shown below each file.
forms.conf
AliasMatch ^/forms/icons/(..*) "D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java\icons/$1"
registry.dat
default.icons.iconpath=http://servername:7778/forms/java/
formweb.cfg
# Forms applet parameter
codebase=/forms/java
# Forms applet parameter
imageBase=codebase
# Forms applet archive setting for JInitiator
archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar,frmmain.jar, frmjdapi.jar, my_icons.jar
# Forms applet archive setting for other clients (Sun Java Plugin, Appletviewer, etc)
archive=frmall.jar,frmmain.jar, frmjdapi.jar, my_icons.jar
Also added this line under orion-web-app in orion-web.xml file.
<virtual-directory virtual-path="/icons" real-path="D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java\icons" />
Restarted the OC4J forms server after any change.To test your configuration, you can try building an URL:
i.e.
http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet/icons/iconname.gif
Does it show the icon ?
If that does not work, I would try re-generating the my_icons.jar file, but instead of going directly to the forms/java/icons folder, copy the icons folder to the root directory i.e. c:\icons and execute the command to jar the icons folder, then redeploy the my_icons.jar file.
Then try again with the URL... if the URL does not work, you still have configuration issues.
PS: Don't forget to clear the cache in your browser so that the new .jar files is loaded?
Furthermore:
========
Remove the changes made to the forms.conf and orion-web.xml, they are only needed if the icons are
not stored in a .jar file.
forms.conf
AliasMatch ^/forms/icons/(..*) "D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java\icons/$1"
orion-web.xml
<virtual-directory virtual-path="/icons" real-path="D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java\icons" />

How to display iconic images using forms 9i
Hi,
i had created a simple push button ,and made its properties iconic=yes and icon file name =c:\temp\save
i had copied the save.GIF file in the c:\temp path
also i had made necessary changes in the orion.web file
and registry.dat
actually i had the metalink document 203846.1 and followed all the step written in that doc.
but then also during run time i am not able to see the icons.
Can you give me a sample code having only one push button
and all the changes in different files to make the icons appear in web.
I had tried all the steps so pl give me the sample step by step code.
Thanks ,
Kumar IyerHi Kumar,
I think if you follow the oracle note 203846.1 more or less it should be fine. I took a little exception on step 7 which requires modifying the registry.dat file.
I ignored the step 7, try this in forms builder for button property
1) icon filename=save
2) create jar file for icons under c:\temp directory, using the command
C:\Temp>jar -cvf icons.jar *.gif
please note that file save.GIF should be save.gif since java is case sensitive.
3) modify the following entries in file <9iDS_HOME>\forms90\server\formsweb.cfg
archive_jini=f90all_jinit.jar,/forms90/icons/icons.jar
imageBase=codebase
so this should help in your test form to display icon at runtime.

How can i Display Icons on Push Buttons in forms 10g ?
Set the property "Iconic" of the button to "Yes" and enterthe iconname in the Property "Icon Name" (without path and extension).
About how to make items accesible in forms, have a look at this http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/web.1012/b14032/configure009.htm -

Can we display ICONS in ALV list?
Hi,
Is it possible to display icons (ICON_GREEN_LIGHT) in the ALV list using the function module REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY.
Is there any possibility of displaying a list using object oriented ALV?
Thanks and Regards,

Can anybody tell me how to easy way to solve problem with icon in forms 9i. Please write me a way in step by step
ThanksThis is simple.
1. put your icons (.gif) in forms90\java folder
2. change the formsweb.cfg file
(it is imagebase=documentbase)
chnage that imagebase=codebase
3. create an iconic button. icon filename should be exact as the name of the icon. (case sensitive). (i.e. if the icon name is EXIT.gif, the icon file name also should be EXIT.gif)
You will see the icons at the runtime. Hope that helps. if it does not help, i can send you a form displaying icons and the corresponding formsweb.cfg file. Happy coding!! -
Images are not displaying in the forms run time.
Hello All,
I am using forms 10.1.2.3.0 and database 11g in the windows XP platform.
I am not able to see the images in the buttons at the run time. I have done the following setup for the same but still I am not able to display images in the buttons. I have gone through all the previous threads for the same. Can any body suggest where I am doing the wrong?
1) Created one JAR file with the below command putting all the gif files in a folder (All the GIF files are in lower case). Kept this jar file in the forms/java folder. (When I am extracting the JAR file getting all the gif files and one more folder META-INF).
rem====
jar cvf icon.jar *.gif
rem=====
2) Modified the formsweb.cfg file as follows.
imageBase=codeBase
archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar,icon.jar
3) In the buttons property Iconic = Yes and Iconicfile name = icon_print (gif file name).
4) Modified the Registry.dat file in the path "forms\java\oracle\forms\registry\Registry.dat" as follows.
default.icons.iconpath=forms/java
default.icons.iconextension=gif
Start the OC4J instance, and run the application, but still not able to see the images in the buttons. After I modified the regedit file I am able to see the images in the design time but not in the run time.
Any thing more needed to do the same. All the suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
SUN

Displaying Icons in 10g runtime (On Linux RHEL 5)
Hi, I've read several threads on here about displaying Icons in 10g runtime.
Currently, I am able to get the Icons to work on my localhost Windows machine and the icons display fine.
However, my icons are not displaying when I copy them over to the Linux machine. My forms compile correctly. I've made sure they were case-sensitive.
I modified the Registry.dat file to point to the path where I so tried the icons (in my case, /home/OraHome_1/yb/ico, where I've put all my icons in a file called icons.jar).
I also modified the default.env file to point the CLASSPATH to this directory as well.
Am I missing something on Linux, because this works on Windows.
Thanks,
ChrisI do not remember making changes to the CLASSPATH, either way it would be good that you double check your steps against the metalink note 232413.1 - How to Deploy Iconic Images via a JAR File in Forms 9i/10g.
As a reference, you can also take a look at this thread icons not displaying in oracle forms. -
Is it possible to display icons instead of text in the JMenuBar? I know you can make menu items with icons/text, but the menu itself I'd like to use an icon.
The only possible workaround I can think of is to use a toolbar (with icon buttons) and attach action events to load a JPopupMenu... however, I have to add code to figure out the dynamic positioning and to hide/show the menus appropriately.
Is there a simplier way?I do not remember making changes to the CLASSPATH, either way it would be good that you double check your steps against the metalink note 232413.1 - How to Deploy Iconic Images via a JAR File in Forms 9i/10g.

Displaying Icons on buttons --Urgent Help Please
Hi All,
I have been trying to display icons on push buttons. This is what I did after reading the white papers. Still it does not work. Please help.
1. Created a folder on my Oracle home called images
2. From Ms Dos ran d:\OracleHome\jdk\bin\jar.exe -cvf d:\OracleHome\forms90\java\images.jar *.gif
3. Changed the formsweb.cfg
imageBase=codeBase
archive_jini=f90all_jinit.jar,images.jar
( here I even tried Flip flopping the two values. The Jinitior part wored but the image still does not show.)
4. Saved the file , started the listner and ran the test form.
5. Named the Icon file name to Aflist (no extensions)
DOES NOT WORK.
Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Help.
Many thanks in Advance.Frank,
Thanks for the reply.
I have opened the .jar file and saw that it is having the full path. myImages.jar is created in oracle_home/forms90/java directory. No luck.
Now, I have some question about formswerb.cfg file, I do not see any section pertaining to the form that I developed and deployed. How is this config file referenced when my FORM is running on the browser?
# 1) Runform arguments:
#form=test.fmx
form=EMP1.fmx
userid=I changed the form to EMP1.fmx, but even with test.fmx file in place, my EMP1.fmx runs just fine. I am baffled with the arrangement here.
Can you explain or direct to some documentation, where I can find precise information about what the following files do, from a developer stand point, what changes do I need to make in these files before deploying the forms on the browser.
forms90.conf
formsweb.cfg
forms90.propertiesI will be very much thankful for the information.
Thx,
Sri
