Displaying Keynote on TV

I want to show a looping keynote slideshow on my TV- my TV has a USB port in additional to the yellow, red, white plugs. Can I use the USB port to do this? What kind of cords do I need? Do I need additional cords if I want sound as well?

Syncing can be done direct with iTunes on your computer, or via wi-fi when your computer and iPad are connected to the same wi-fi network. Syncing via wi-fi must be selected under the Summary tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes prior to being able to do this. This would change nothing if your iPad is not recognized by iTunes. If not recognized by iTunes when connected direct to your computer, doubtful it will be recognized via wi-fi if syncing via wi-fi were already selected for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes.

I'm gonna use my recently purchased iMac 3.06 to relay slides and video to a Big Screen Sony TV. Any suggestions as to what type of video/audio cables I would need?

Want Keynotes' presenter's display to be NOT in full screen

I do live music shows on a Single MacBook Pro. Retina Display, Running 10.10.1
In my show I run Keynote for visuals (always on a secondary large TV via HDMI out) and I run Audio via MainStage from the Logic Suite.
I want to be able to exit work in MainStage, (switching songs, changing volumes etc.) WITHOUT interrupting Keynotes Video display or pictures, text, videos etc.
How can I do this.
The only way to play a slide show is to play it, and when it plays it automatically turns the presenter's display to full scree, thereby locking me out of access to MainStage, or any other software.
Any way to play a Keynote slide show NOT in full screen for the presenter's display????

When Keynote is in play, no other applications will be seen as Keynote takes over complete control of the graphics system, if you switch from Keynote to another application, Keynote will be hidden. Keynote has always worked this way.
We use two Macs to be able to display Keynote and a second application.

Second display show non-Keynote application windows?

I use Citrix' GoToWebinar and would like to use Keynote to give presentations with a two-display setup.
Citrix' GoToMeeting application (which is what you use to give a webinar) shows useful information such as who is online viewing, and it enables you to chat with other presenters.
The problem is, in Play mode, none of Keynote's settings seem to let me use the GoToMeeting console. They either blank out the second window or display Keynote's presenter widgets.
As a workaround, I've been using Preview. I save the presentation as a PDF then use Preview's slideshow mode to display it. I can run the Citrix GoToMeeting application on my second monitor and all is well.
But I'd really rather do this from Keynote if possible. If there is a way, please let me know.

Thanks for this suggestion. It covers 90% of the situation. The remaining 10% has turned into a burr under my saddle.
The other 10% is that when we click the enable expose (and other apps) keynote preference, this also activates the app Front Row. Which in turn means that when the apple remote's menu button is pushed during a keynote presentation, the front row app pops up, instead of keynote's slide chooser at the top of the screen.
Which means when I use gotomeeting I can't skip slides via keynotes.
I don't mean to sound ungrateful, or to make a big deal out a subtly, but during presentations, it can be very important to a successful pitch to be able to back up and go forward to exactly where the client wants to be, without having to click through all the other slides and or builds.
Any ideas?

IPad2 - Keynote - VGA No Display

Hello, Iam trying to get my iPad2 to display Keynote on a tv or monitor but neither seem to work. I am using the Apple iPad VGA adapter and a VGA connector to either the tv or monitor. Can someone assist me in troubleshooting? I am using iWorks 09. It appears to be configured correctly in the settings of my iPad.

Display Issues with 50" Samsung Plasma

I have a 50" Samsung Plasma, and I am trying to get the display settings right with my mac mini.
I have used the screen with my 2009 macbook running snow leopard via the mini display port -> hdmi cable with no problems, however, I wanted use it with my 2007 mac mini running tiger, via a dvi-hdmi cable. I got the cable and today have been trying to set the display setting right.
Whatever resolution I set the mini to, it won't fill the tv screen. If I select overscan, the tv keeps loosing the signal. I've been through all the settings on the manual but still to no avail. I could probably live with this as I'm displaying keynotes on a black background, but the picture is really pixilated. And video especially doesn't cope. Really unsure which end is the culprit!
Anyone have any clues. Eventually I am going to split the signal between two screens, but need to get it right on the first one!
Is it Tiger? DO I need to upgrade to leopard or snow leopard (both are at my disposal)

You are halfway there. I have a Samsung LCD and had the same problem. There is a setting on Samsung screens to do this.
For me it is under 'picture options' and is a setting called size. I chose 'screen fit' and it all works like a charm.

How can I get back to my Keynote presentation once I've linked to a website?

I've created a Keynote presentation. On one slide, I have a link to a relevant Vimeo video on the web. It gets there seamlesly. However, when the 4 minute video is done playing, I can't return to my presentation. If I "x" out of Safari, my Keynote is gone. I've tried hitting esc but that doesn't work either.

Welcome to the Apple community.
The Apple TV cannot display keynote presentations or websites from the computer. It can display them via mirroring from the iPad 2 or better or the iPhone 4S.
You cannot AirPlay to 2 Apple TV 2's at the same time from an iOS device. You can watch the same video, TV show or listen to the same music from your iTunes library on multiple Apple TV's at the same time.

Possible to view Keynote files / presentations as read only ?

Keynote has been a wonderful study tool: I can tap the screen on my iPad2 or iPhone4, and the next bit of information appears (using the "builds" effects to make new info appear, eg: answers to questions). It's just like flash cards, but on an Apple mobile device. However, the temptation is always there to keep editing the text (ie: cut/copy-paste, and break up more paragraphs into question-answer format).
With the recent software upgrades (including a Keynote upgrade), is there now a way to make Keynote files "read-only," once they're on an iPad2 or iPhone4? Last year I tried to make my files "read-only" on my Mac desktop, but when I downloaded them onto my iPad2, they were still editable.
Or, does anybody know of any other app or program that can display Keynote on an iPad, with all its "builds" and effects, but in a read-only format so that it can't be edited in the iPad/iPhone?

Non-Full Screen Presentation with Keynote?

Does anyone know if it's possible to run a Keynote presentation not in full screen mode?
I have a couple of kiosk displays that I'd like to display Keynote presentations along side some data feeds and real-time information from other apps. Do you know if you can display a presentation say in a single window? (and not the full screen?) I'm guessing not, but I figured I'd ask.

1, Uncheck that silly Full Screen option. It does not do what
the name
suggests, and never has done.
2, Use center on Screen instead
3, Authorware cannot and will not rescale to fit your users'
screen
settings. If you want that kind of setting you should use
something other
than Authorware. Flash or Director are good choices for that.
If you still want to resize the window, then use the function
ResizeWindow,
but you will find that your content does not rescale, so you
will be back to
your content sitting top-left of the screen.
Finally, you can use the old workaround of utilizing Cover
u32 to cover the
are of the screen not used by your application. It will set
the rest of the
desktop to black, essentially framing your application. Check
your
Authorware CD for Cover.u32, where you will find an example
file too.

It is likely due to a transition including changes in opacity that is no longer supported (worked fine in '09). I can not open 6.2.2 anymore as it tries to open this presentation no matter if I agree to reopening the presentation or not in the dialog that comes up. I have the 'don't reopen documents on startup' checkbox clicked in system preferences so it should not even try to..
is there a way to really reset Keynote so as to not open a previous presentation? I've tried trashing the com.apple.iWork.keynote preference file without success.

The new Keynote version has serious problems opening the older filetype, ver therefore best practice just now is to open version 5 files with Keynote version 5, and only use version 6 for new projects.
right click a version 5 file and select Get Info > change the drop down menu to display Keynote 5 then click Change All

IPAD externa display

I just purchased an IPAD . I also got a VEGA dispaly connector. The Apple rep at best buy assured me that I can display most of the apps on IPAD(particularly PHOTOS) to an external LCD dispaly. However so far the only thing I saw working is the youtube app. I bought the IPAd so I could display my photos slideshow on big screen LCD/TV. It seems I can not do so and I am very disappointed. Am I doing something wrong or is this not supported? Why was given an in-correct information? I would appreciate it if anyone would let me know how I can dispaly my photos/slideshow on the big screen LCD screen.

HT3325 Is there a reason Keynote Remote does not appear in the App store?

I'd like to use an iPad air for Keynote and other app presentations in the classroom. There are at least two Apple docs that refer to Keynote Remote on the app store and they have been updated as recently as August 2013. I can't find the app for either Macs or iPads.
What is the best way to use an iPad for classroom or other presentations?

To my knowlege, there isn't one for OS X. The iOS app is listed as an iPhone app. Open the App Store, type Keynote Remote in to the search field. when the results display, tap iPad Only on teh top menu and select iPhone only. You should see it. It is optimized for the iPhone but should work on the iPad.
However, you necessarily need this app to display Keynote presentations via projector of TV.

VGA monitor connector

I can get my monitor connector to play videos only. How do I get the VGA connector to work to fully interactively display all my activity from my iPad to a vga monitor or digital projector. For instance I can not display keynote nor any photos or a PDF Book. I thought this would be straight forward especially as it seems to work ok on video output. I have looked under settings to see if I could change something but could not find anything that would allow for this. I went on line and saw a video demonstrating the VGA cable link working interactively but it really did not show what they did to make it work.

Keynote should work.. Did you hit the play button in Keynote?
The iBook app will not output to video. You need something like the GoodReader app to display PDFs to a monitor.
As for photos... I believe the only way to display photo on a monitor you need the use the slide show option in the photo app.
There is only a hand full of apps that uses the option to output to a monitor.
