Displaying list box field in PDF

I have exported to an interactive PDF which contains radio buttons, text fields, combo boxes and list boxes. This form is to be viewed on an iPhone 5 in Adobe Reader. All the form objects work except for the combo/list boxes. They appear and a selection can be made but the selection is not displayed in the box. I have tried to enlarge the box, thinking it was too small to display the text.
I have tested it on an Ipad 3 and an android phone and it doesnt work but it does work on a desktop. The reader app is up-to-date on all devices. This is how it displays (sorry about the quality). The option within the list box are "nothing" ie space, Y and N. Before a selection is made the arrow is displayed but after a selection is made the box is blank.
Can someone please tell me if there is a compatibility issue or a work around for this problem.
Thanks!
Gemma

One more thing: There is a workaround for those who own Acrobat for Windows or Mac. You should be able to open forms with this problem in Acrobat, modify the default values in these fields, return the default values in those fields to their desired state and then resave the document from Acrobat (windows or mac). This forces Acrobat to save the fields in a way that the mobile Readers can properly display and edit. While we absolutely should fix the bug to properly display fields created by InDesign, this workaround may be useful for others so I am posting it here.

  • Why is list box field highlighted?

    I am creating a fillable PDF form using Acrobat Pro X (10.1.7) that is intended to be filled in using Reader or by hand. I have only one field that is a list box (with 43 items), and for some unknown reason, in both Acrobat Pro X and in Reader XI, it is being highlighted in blue even when all other fields are not highlighted (Highlight Existing Fields off). When the other fields are highlighted in light blue, the list box field is highlighted in a darker blue. It displays the same behavior whether the fill color is white or no color. When I print the form in black and white, which is how it will normally be printed, the field is filled in with a medium gray. I'm an Acrobat newbie so I haven't done anything fancy with the field. I need to get rid of the highlighting ASAP and I don't have a clue about what could be wrong. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Perhaps "highlighting" is not the correct term for what is happening, sorry for the misuse of terminology. I need this field to have no background color and I don't understand why it does. I have difficulty believing this is a standard display methology because the field prints as medium gray on a B&W printer, and the black text is hardly visible as a result.
    The State field is a drop-down list and has no color. Do I need to change the County field to a drop-down list as well to get rid of this problem?

  • Set focus on item that selected in multiple-selection list box field in infopath

    Hi
    I have  multiple-selection list box field in infopath that have for example 40 items. (I customize sharepoint list with infopath),then
     publish infopath form in to sharepoint list. users want to add new item,when they selected or checked each item in multiple selection list box, after that automatically control focus on first item, but I want to focus remain on that item
    I was selected. Why this happen?! I also set postback settings to “never” in multiple-selection list box properties. But didn’t work.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted  to find several columns based on user selection of checkboxes in one of the Multiple-selection List Box.
    I recommend to customize the form to concatenate values from choice field (with multiple values) into single line text box, and then hide the fields based on the text box value.
    We can follow the steps as following:
    Add a text box control(filed 3) on the form to hold the value selection in the multiple selection list box.
    Set the default value for the text box control as
    substring-after(eval(eval(Value, 'concat(., ";")'), ".."), ";")
    (you need to change the ‘Value’ in the formula to your multiple selection list box name: filed1).
    Add the conditional formatting on the flied: flied 3 does not contain value (you need to change the ‘Value’ in the formula to your multiple selection list box value.).
    In addition, you can add Formatting action to hide the text box control.
    Here are the result screenshots for you to take a look at:

  • Event for the List Box in ALV Grid Control

    Hello,
    I have the below urgent requirment.
    I have an ALV Grid Control built using ABAP Objects. In the grid, I have few fields and one of these fields is a List Box. Depending on the values selected, I need to enable or disable some fields. So, is there any event for the List box in ALV Grid Control.
    For ex: I have 2 Fields, Designation and Commission. The designation field is a List Box field having 'Software Engineer' and 'Manager' as values. When I select 'Software Engineer', the commission field should be disabled. When I select 'Manager', the comission field should be enabled.
    Early reply is hightly appreciated.

  • Blue List Boxes

    I noticed that others have posted regarding this question, but haven't seen any answers.  I'll give it a try.
    I am using Adobe Acrobat 8 on a Vista 32 system.  When creating list boxes in fillable forms, the background of the list box field shows and prints in blue.  Changing the appearance in the properties dialogue box has no effect.  Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get rid of the blue background?
    Thanks in advance!
    Charlene

    Unfortunately it's not possible to change the background of this list boxes but it would make a great features request:

  • List box in screen painter

    Hi
    I have created a screen in menu painter in which there are 3 drop down listbox .
    Each list box field has a domain created for it and the domain is assigned a value table.
    the value table contains data that data should be populated to list box.
    Now when i excecute the screen i am not able to select any data.
    any idea how can i achieve this

    Hi,
    I believe you have to manually fill up the list box using the function module VRM_SET_VALUES..
    Check this example...
    TYPE-POOLS: vrm.
    PARAMETERS: p_test TYPE char4 AS LISTBOX VISIBLE LENGTH 10.
    DATA: t_data TYPE vrm_values.
    INITIALIZATION.
    DATA: s_data TYPE vrm_value.
    s_data-key = 'ABCD'.
    s_data-text = 'First four'.
    APPEND s_data TO t_data.
    s_data-key = 'EFGHI'.
    s_data-text = 'Second four'.
    APPEND s_data TO t_data.
    CALL FUNCTION 'VRM_SET_VALUES'
    EXPORTING
    id = 'P_TEST'
    values = t_data
    EXCEPTIONS
    id_illegal_name = 1
    OTHERS = 2.
    IF sy-subrc <> 0.
    MESSAGE ID sy-msgid TYPE sy-msgty NUMBER sy-msgno
    WITH sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
    ENDIF.
    START-OF-SELECTION.
    WRITE: / p_test.

  • Measurement Results in Execution list box

    Anyideas or reliable procedures on adding measurement results to the existing pass/fail line in the execution display list box ?
    Test Engineering
    Empower RF Systems Inc.

    Hi,
    I guess as long as you put in the preconditions to handle those steps that dont have your extra properties and resize your list box to handle the extra information. You should be alright.
    I have used the example in the Resource Library | TestStand | Step Types | Custom Steps Types - adding limits to the description in the Sequence Display without any problems.

  • Checked some items of multiple-selection list box when form loaded in infopath

    Hi
    I customize sharepoint list with infopath. I have multiple-selection list box and want to checked some items of that automatically when form loaded. how can do this?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to pre-select some items in the Multiple-Selection List Box.
    I recommend to follow the steps below to achieve this goal:
    Click Default Values under Data tab in InfoPath, expand the dataFields and navigate to the Multiple-Selection List Box field.
    Set the Default Value of the Multiple-Selection List Box field.
    Right click the field under the Multiple-Selection List Box group, then select Add another Value Below and set the Default Value for this field.
    Repeat step3 based on the number of the items that you want to be pre-selected.
    More information are provided in the link below:

    Best regards.

  • How to create a group/list of check box variables for display in text field, in appended format

    I need to identify a series of single-response checkbox variables and display the ones selected (as a group) in a text field in an appended (comma, space) format. Last week, you provided a great little script for a similar need using List Box (multiple response) variables. This time I need to know how to formally identify the checkbox variables and, I presume, use a similar script to display the results in a comma, space format.
    You've been of great help.
    Thanks

    Here's the script adapted to this situation. It assumes there are ten check boxes named cb1, cb1, cb2, ...cb10.
    // Custom Calculate script for text field
    (function () {
        // Initialize the string
        var v, s = "";
        // Loop through the check boxes to build up a string
        for (var i = 1; i < 11; i++) {
            // Get the value of the current check box
            v = getField("cb" + i).value;
            if (v !== "Off") {
                if (s) s += ", ";  // Add a comma and a space if needed
                s += v;  // Add the selected value
        // Set this field value to the string
        event.value = s;
    You'll have to change the field name and starting/ending numbers to match your form.

  • How do you get different check box fields to display based upon a list box selection?

    I am a relative newbie with LifeCycle Designer ES using v.8.2.1 to create interactive forms to replace manual hardcopies.  I am working on a form that has a few pull down list boxes.  I want different check box fields to display based upon the selection of an item from one of the pull down lists.
    Any guidance on the best way to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    Here is a sample with script in the change event of the dropdown. You may want to clear previous checkbox choices once the subform is hidden.
    It is good to group objects in a subform - that way you only need to hide the subform and not each object in turn.
    Good luck,
    Niall

  • How to make form text box field display name or instructions?

    Using form tools, I have added text boxes in my PDF that I would like to have the field name display. So the user would understand what kind of info they need to fill in. For example, [Type organization name here] in one box and [type address] in another. This is not an actual form, so I don't want to put those labels outside the field as shown on the adobe sample form.

    You can add your text to the 'tool tip' for the field's properties, use the right mouse click.
