Displaying multiple midi regions in piano roll

I have overdubbed some midi tracks and would like to view and edit them in one window of the piano roll.
The manual says "Ensure that View > Show Selected Regions Only is switched off."
Well for the life of me, I cannot find any option in either view menu (arrange window or piano roll) for "Show Selected Regions Only."
Am I missing something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this will help or not, but if you select all the MIDI you have, and then open piano scroll view, all the MIDI will be there. The drag is it is a litle hard identifying one from the other.
I have two Ultrabeat tracks and selected both tracks, then opened Piano Scroll and both were there.
Not sure if that helps or not bro but it is what I have done to address the problem

Thanks for your help Erik. I found the answer you posted about 30 minutes after posting my question. To me it doesn't answer my question 100%. The reason is that I can't expect to believe that every time someone records midi they have to go through all these extra steps to merge it (and it is not easy to do because they are hidden behind one another) in fact my problem was so unique that other logic users didn't understand why I am having this trouble. SO that brings me to my conclusion, that I have some setting that is keeping this from being a seamless operation and transforming it into a bunch of hoop jumps. Thoughts? Could it have to do with record settings of "merge"? I saw a few different settings there but none make sense to me.

Why can't i see my midi in the piano roll of logic

I can create a track in a midi region, yet when I select the midi region the data does not appear in the piano roll! It did uintil I deleted a few tracks and now only 1 midi region appears and I cannot select another. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

The Fax modem printer is formed when you choose Fax PDF... from the PDF button of the Print... dialog box. In other words, do it once, even if you do not complete the fax, and it will be there.

Dynamically hide/display multiple report regions.

I need to build a dashboard like homepage for users with multiple report regions. Users should be able to pick the regions they want and the display point for those regions.

Hello Asha,
I think the "where" part would have to come from CSS. If you visit http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=49882:3653 you can see a couple of HTML type regions which I placed using div tags and putting something like<div class="rpt_query" id="rpt_query">in the region Header and </div> in the region footer. You can accomplish the same with Report type regions and maybe any type of region.
As for whether or not a region is shown, that can be done in the Conditional Display attributes. I do this by selecting "Value of Item in Expression 1 = Expression 2" as the Condition Type, a hidden page item as Expression 1, and a number (perhaps corresponding to check box as mentioned previously) as Expression 2. I'm actually using pseudo tabs and when a user clicks one of the tabs it changes the value of the hidden page item and submits the page to get the new region to show up.

Color Code Midi Notes on Piano Roll?

Can you color code midi notes in Logic Pro's piano roll/key editor? (I.e., can you make all C's red, C#'s blue, etc.?)
I'm tempted to jump from Cubase to Logic, but I need this feature.

Why do you ask?
I've learned to 'read' my color coding in Cubase -- just like I read ordinary notation (red, yellow, green = C Major, for example). This way I don't need to open a score editor or Sibelius when I work.
Anyway, can't be done in Logic as far as I can see; too bad.

Scissor tool to divide into several portion midi event in piano roll not affect

it seems holding down option in scissor tool mode is not working to divide a midi event in several portions in piano roll.
If i press alt the scissor turn in a scissor plus + but not affect.
Can you confirm ?

Gluing 2 MIDI notes in piano roll view...is this not possible any more?

I am experiencing some very unusual behavior in version 8 - such as no longer being able to use the "glue" tool in Matrix edit mode (now called piano roll) to glue two MIDI notes of the same pitch together into one note.
Has anyone been able to get this to work?
I have to say, on a broader level, this program does not feel like it used to. Up until ver. 7, the program just seemed to do what I expected it to do...there always seemed to be many ways to accomplish something. It seemed like I never would need a manual because whatever I tried to do in the most logical way always seemed to work. The app feels more rigid now. I guess I just need to re-learn this software.

I have no idea. But I've seen the "try it once try it twice " thing happen since Logic 4.

How to edit multiple regions in one Piano Roll window

I edit multiple regions in one Piano Roll window at the same time. (It is very handy way of editing especially in huge orchestra projects.)
I can see midi contents of all selected regions in Piano Roll at the same time.
1) But how to choose certain one region of many selected to edit it?
2) And how to edit all at once?

First of all, the Piano Roll has two mechansim, of what it is displaying.
Selected Track: This displays all the Regions that you select in the Tracks Window
One Track: Selecting one Region in the Track Area displays all the Regions of tha tTrack in the Piano Roll. If you select multiple Regions in the Tracks Window, then the last selected Regions counts.
Whatever Regions are now displayed in the Piano Roll Editor can be edited. Select the MIDI Events and apply the command.
You can also apply edits directly to the selected Regions in the Tracks Window.
I explain all those little details in my graphically enhanced manuals ("Logic Pro X - How it Works")
One thing to be clear about:
Tracks Window: Any edit is applied to the selected Regions
Piano Roll Editor: Ay edit is applied to the selected Events

How can I write the next midi event in Piano Roll or other tools of Logic Pro X?:

Scrubbing in piano roll

I've looked everywhere and I'm surprised no one has reported this. So, it's a good chance I'm doing something wrong. When I want to scrub a midi track in piano roll, I click pause and place my pointer on the playhead and it just takes off wildly. The only way to settle it down is to move the playhead slightly to the left. It appears to be a bug. Any insight?

You have to actually click on the note with your mouse for it to sound.

How do you do this? in logic 9, it just happened. In logic X, I can make as many groove templates from midi regions as I like in the inspector, but how do I get them to show up in piano roll so that I can make apply them in varying dgrees to other regions?
I asked this question a few months ago and no-one responded. Am i the only one who can't figure this out?

Separate midi drum channels not showing in piano roll, only kick

hey ya'll! I separated my midi drum notes on to separate mudi tracks. But now only the kick track shows up in the piano roll window.
I am using AD and need to be able to edit the drum midi tracks. I use the piano roll window for this. Can someone help me?

You can select multiple regions in the arrange window and they will all show up in the piano roll. If you color each drum region a different color and select "region colors" in the piano roll view menu you can easily tell which regions are whoch.

In Piano Roll: no "Show Selected Regions Only" View menu item !!

I need to use this function, and it's not there!
The Manual says it should be!

Why don´t you just select the Region in the Arrange and then open the Piano Roll? If you select two Midi regions the content of both will be displayed...

Is there a way to show/reveal the piano roll (or score) from a midi input when recording an audio track in Logic 9?

I'm trying to record audio tracks in Logic 9 over midi tracks I've created using a software instrument. I've done this before, and there used to be a no problem in seeing the midi information in the piano roll or the score while recording audio tracks, but it now impossible to reveal. Has ayone else exerienced this? Was there a change (update) that eliminated that as an option? Or did I do something in preferences somewhere (unbeknownst to me when doing it) that has caused this? Thanks for any suggestions.

Just open the piano roll fro the regions you want and deselect the chain icon at the upper left.

How to show all regions when opening piano roll?

I want to be able to see all events in all regions when opening (not toggling!) a piano roll. I just switched from version 5 (yes, 5) to 9. It used to be like this: you deselect all regions and then just open the matrix editor (that's how the piano roll was called in ancient times).
If I do this in 9, the piano roll shows nothing. If I select all regions and open the PR, it shows only one. If I select one region, open the PR and then go back to the arrange window and select all regions it does show all info in the PR but this is a bit of a not-very-efficient work around.
Anyone any idea?

double click a region, then highlight the ARRANGE window and type command + a. It is essential to choose all regions this way not as you mentioned by choosing all by hand. Remember that when you doubleclick a region Logic highlights the PIANOROLL. So you have to highlight the arrange window by clicking on the bar just below the main tools or in other words, just above the ruler (I don't know the exaqct word for it but I hope you know what I mean.
