Displaying name from sub account

I have set up a subaccount successfully. When I send a new message the From box displays my email, plus my own name. I do not want my name to show since a number of people will be using the subaccount. I cannot find a way to edit it out.

I assume you are logging into webmail with the new account details - it's not entirely clear if you don't mind me saying.
When you were sending emails, were both your current name *and* main account email address being shown, or just the name and "subaccount" email address ?
In webmail - to alter the name, Go to Options (More Options/Mail Options)/Accounts/click the BTYahoo! item. From there you can change the "From" name.

Email "sender" showing incorrect name from one account only, from blackberry only

I have three email accounts linked to my phone, recently if I send from one account, the message seems to come from a mystery sender - i.e message shows as being sent from "Sam Laidlaw" but the email address is correct. I've tried editing the account, deleting the account, modifying the account, nothing works. I've searched and "Sam Laidlaw" doesn't show up in any addresses, contacts, accounts etc - I don't know where it came from or how to delete it. Very frustrating as it is my work email that I use contantly and people are now asking "who is Sam Laidlaw"?

I only ask because the recipient's device can control who an email appears to be from.
Aside from that, this is controlled by either the settings when you setup the account or the display name listed on the account itself.
What kind of account is it? GMail? Outlook.com? Yahoo!?

Rename users display name from LDAP

my OBIEE 10.1.3.4 does user authentication from LDAP on our domain Active Directory..
a users display name was mis-spelled in Active Directory.. I corrected the mis-spelling.. but BI still shows it wrong..
when the user is created is the display name then stored in an ATR file or somewhere in the catalog..
were do I go to change it.. or how do I get it to update from Active Directory again..

If the display name is really bothering the user, then you can do a work around like letting users to set their own display name by enabling the enable any user to set the value of the variable option for the DISPLAYNAME variable in the LDAP init block and calling it in the front end using NQSSetSessionValue().

That won't work the way you want it in EWS, like when you send via Outlook or OWA when you send a messages via EWS it's submitted via the Exchange store so the Sender Address will be resolved back to the default Reply address for whatever account your trying
to send as. If you need some sort of custom display name I would suggest you stick to SMTP or possible create a Transport Agent that would rewrite the address before its sent externally.

Accidentally deleted my short name from the accounts tab. Now I go back and make changes.

I'm running 10.6.8
I was trying to change the terminal name from nicholas-shook's-macbook-pro:~ nicholasshook$ to something shorter. I started by changing my computer name via System Pref >> Sharing, and tried to change my shortname via System Pref >> Accounts. I deleted the shortname after right-clicking my name on the left panel thinking that it would get rid of it in the terminal.
Now when I try to make changes to the Accounts tab it asks me to "type an administrator's name and password to allow System Preferences to make changes" instead of just asking for the password. I've tried nicholasshook and Nicholas Shook (what it shows up as when I come back to my computer after its been asleep).
Please help me get back to the shortname so I can not make it empty.

Caller ID for incoming calls NOT displaying name from contacts (only displays phone # on BB Z10)

on the Z10 Whenever I receive an incoming call, the caller ID only shows the phone #, even when I have that number matched to a contact in the phone, even the call log it show the number and not the name. How do I get the caller ID to recognize and display the appropriate contact name with the phone fro an incoming call? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Akhanbilal

Thank you Arsen but, as with everyone else : (1) When you get an in-coming call, it has no call log on the phone app call log that allows you do a thing under the sun except to touch the number of the last call, and when you do, it CALLS THEM BACK. (2) On every other BlackBerry I have owned, about 10 to-date, I simply selected the last in-coming call and had a button at the bottom of the screen to allow me to ADD TO CONTACTS. (3) This does NOT exist on the Z10, and there certainly is no "Click on number, little slider pops on the right, select add to contact." Instead it dials them. Frustrating other uses have described Arsen. Further, while on the topic : (4) None of this has anything to do with 10-digit national dialing plan or anything else on swipe finger down from top in Phone App, Arsen. (5) When you swipe Phone App down, you see SETTINGS. Then, there are 13 items. I have looked at all 13 items and see nothing as you describe to select, nor any instructions on what to set the SMART DIALING to when there are 3 area codes local for my city and country code shows +1. Further, while on topic here : (6) Visual Voice Mail has been turned-on and whatever visual voice mail is, never supported on any previous BlackBerry including my 9780 before this, I have it with T-Mobile and have it turned on on the BlackBerry Z10 and it too does not work. On the positive side, I do have a work-around for BlackBerry Z10 to 2013 Toyota entune. (7) I first took a vm msg .wav file of just hello (blank will not send) and saved it on BlackBerry Z10. The Toyota entune is LOOKING for a music and will LOCK-UP if none are found. By giving it this, it worked on my 2013 Toyota entune for the 1st time ever. Yeah ! It is a little frustrating every few minutes listening to myself say HELLO. But, hey no one really notices it with all the other stuff going on NAVIGATION, radio, cell phone calls, and all the computerized alerts on 2013 Toyota even without entune. (8) What I did now was to go into Navigation and remove SYNC with MUSIC. I accomplished that after pairing to Z10 to 2013 Toyota, by CANCELLING ALL CONNECTIONS leaving only the pairing itself. Then, you must choose some connections in the pairing section of SET-UP within Navigation itself. If you cannot even get to that point, try depressing on the Navigation Screen, INTERNET at which point it will allow you access to SET-UP when you see the message NO ENTUNE APP FOUND ON YOUR BlackBerry Z10. Red-headed step-child is what we all are. Have to help each other. Arsen I appeciate you helping all of us. Seems the list is about 20 who have voiced it here in this one thread. We voice it for the 200 million BlackBerry users worldwide, all left out in the cold despite a pretty cool Z10 product. Far better than iPhone 5. I chose phone and internet. Internet comes back no BLACKBERRY Z10 TOYOTA ENTUNE APP. But, at least now I don't have to hear the music HELLO and do not also have the BlackBerry Z10 LOCKED-UP with pop up message you have to say OK to 10 million times to clear and never can actually do a thing on the BlackBerry Z10 as a result. Thanks so much! The problem was the security settings. I switched the content protection for "contacts included" to "no" and now my contact info shows up on the incoming call display! Thanks again for your help!

BB Os v. 7.1 - Caller ID for incoming calls NOT displaying name from contacts (only displays phone number)

We realized since bbOS 7.1 update the bb lost the possibility to show the contact from address book associated to the callerID

Not sure how the area code rules apply in your area. When you call from your cell to a contact that has their name, does it show you their name when calling out and the call log also has their name. Go into the phone application, swipe down from the top and cehck your smart dialing features for country code, area code and National number length.

Smart forms not displaying result from sub routine

I am working on a smart form and need to display the description of the fabric code. Under Form Routines, I create a sub routine
FORM fcc_values USING gv_fabrictext.
which is supposed to store the description in gv_fabrictext. GV_FABRICTEXT has been declared in global data as char64. Then I call prior to displaying my table as
perform fcc_values using gv_fabrictext.
And then insert the field &gv_fabrictext& in cell but this does not display any result
I know for sure that this sub routine works as I have tested it separately as a test program. Any ideas?

Why does the display name in older messages change if I update my address book for that E-mail address?

I have recently installed Thunderbird 24.5.0 after upgrading a WinXP machine to Win7. I have discovered a strange problem with older mail that was imported from Outlook Express 6.
The pastor of my church uses a generic E-mail address <[email protected]>. This address belongs to the position, not to an individual. We recently had a new pastor come to the church, and I updated my entry for this E-mail address to reflect the new person's name. This is fine for new mail sent since the new person arrived, but Thunderbird has also applied the new name to older mail from the previous pastor. This is very confusing, since the current pastor could not have sent mail from that address prior to her start date.
How can I get Thunderbird to stop changing the Display Name in archival messages that were sent by the previous pastor prior to September 01, 2013? I have not encountered this situation before using Netscape 4.x Mail, Outlook Express 6, and Windows Mail (Vista version).

Of course it does. It looks for a match between the sender's email address and a Contact in your address book. You've edited the Display Name for this account so it gets applied to any message with that email address if that's how your Address Book is configured.
In the Contact card for this address, you can tell it whether or not to use the "real" email address within the message, or the Display Name from your Address Book. Telling it to use the name found in the message ''might'' resolve this, but it depends on how the sender has formatted it. If he includes his name then Thunderbird should be able to resolve it, and you just add both configurations to your Address Book as two separate Contacts, rather than modifying the existing entry.
However, in this situation you're using the same email address for two distinct people, so Thunderbird may not be able to know who sent the old messages. If both have sent using "rector@stpeterscobourg.org" without any personalization then Thunderbird won't be able to differentiate between them.
I have to say that I haven't recently tried using different display names with the same email address, so I don't know for sure if TB can use the display name constructively. If there's nothing in the old messages to tell you which sender wrote them, then TB can't do anything about it.

Mac Mail Wrong Display Name

My Mac mail app for my icloud account has the wrong display name for the account. About three years ago, I bought my mac on the company credit card, and had to use our accounting director's name for the billing address. (We'll call him Richard Nicks). Three years later, I open Mac mail and HIS name is the display name for my icloud email!
Of course it's grayed out, so I have to change it in the icloud account. But when I go log into icloud, his name does not show up anywhere. I've confirmed the email addresses are all the same so I know I don't have multiple accounts or anything. I've closed mail, resynchronized it, rebuilt the database, no joy. Where in the world is it getting his name from and how can I change that?

In Account Preferences, the name and email address are grayed out so I cannot change those.
I looked in my contacts, go under All iCloud, and there's only one contact. The picture is of a piano that says Me, so I assume that is my Me card. This has my correct name.
Interesting to note, when I send an email from iCloud on my iPhone, it comes across with the correct display name.
I'm at a loss on where else to check. Thanks for the help!

According to your post, my understanding is that you want to change display name of workflow email address in sharepoint 2010.
In my environment, if I assign a task to a user, the email is as below:
The “test” is the site name, the [email protected] is the “From” user.
Do you want to change the “From” field in the workflow?
If so, you can have a look at the "Send email extended" custom SPD workflow activity (http://www.codeplex.com/SPDActivities
) which allow you to specify the sender.

Display Name of App - French works, English doesn't

Hey guys,
I've done a LOT of searching on this forum and stackoverflow, because I'm having a problem localizing the display name of my app. I've found threads like this one (https://discussions.apple.com/message/8185295#8185295) and followed the advice. I have two InfoPlist.strings files, one for english and one for french. The contents of the english one looks like this:
CFBundleDisplayName = "EnglishName";
CFBundleName = "EnglishName";
And similar but french strings in the french file, of course.
I have the "Localization native development region" set to "English" in my plist file, as well as "Application has localized display name" set to YES. I also removed "Bundle Display Name" from my plist file, though I've also tried it with it there.
Nothing works in english. When I set the device to french, I see the localized french name of the app just fine. But when I set the device to english, I see the Target name of the app under the icon.

I hit the wrong key, and the post was posted before I was ready.
Part two:
So how do fix this? The english name shows up sometimes, and I think it's solved. But then it always reverts to the Target name.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tomcat web.xml "display-name" using flex.messaging.MessageBrokerServlet

When my web application starts with the BlazeDS servlet flex.messaging.MessageBrokerServlet defined in the web.xml we have an error because in the display-name defined at top level in web.xml we have some text containing character ':'. The error is traced to inside the function
         flex.management.BaseControl.getObjectName()
Which gets the object name, and this function calls
   BaseControl.getApplicationId()
which finally calls
ServletConfig.getServletContext().getServletContextName()
This will return or display-name from the web.xml with all it's text. This text contains among other characters the character ':'. We use this tag for the display in the Tomcat Manager to see version number and other of deployed project.
After retrieving this name it is appended in the getObjectName() function to a buffer, this StringBuffer that already contains flex.runtime. and now this name is appended (still with all that we are using for Tomcat Manager with ':' character and other). After the name, other things are appended. Our problem is that, after constructing this StringBuffer an instance of javax.management.ObjectName is created. In it's constructor it takes a String name as input. This String is parsed in base of characters ':', '*', '?', '\n' and so on, and since we have some of these characters in our display-name it all goes wrong.
   My question is, if this is a bug, a limitation or if it is documented that using flex.messaging.MessageBrokerServlet we can not use certain characters in the display-name of the web.xml?

I have found that this is a bug and there is an issue open at the "Adobe Bug and Issue Management System", BLZ-617. I don't know if work is in progress, but when that issue is closed the problem will be solved.

Renaming Name of Keyboard, not just the Display Name of Keyboard

I lent my keyboard and trackpad to a friend, and when they were returned, they were named with his name.
I easily changed the Display Name to my own, but the Name in the Bluetooth Preferences panel remains the name of my friend.
I even found the string where his name is embedded - it is within a file called "com.apple.Bluetooth.plist" inside Library > Preferences.
I downloaded the Developer app called XCode, which allowed me to edit a copy of "com.apple.Bluetooth.plist", and put my own name where it incorrectly says my friend's name. I then dragged the copy into the Library > Preferences after trashing the incorrect one.
Proble solved, right?
But on restart - or even after sleep - my iMac alters the corrected file and returns it to the incorrect name - the name of my friend.
Seemingly, it must be using some info in a cache somewhere. So I read that Bluetooth caches may be stored in the PRAM of an iMac, so I tried the technique of restarting while emptying the PRAM by holding Ctrl-Option-P-R, but that did not help. Honestly I am not sure that the PRAM empties when one is using a wireless keyboard anyway, since the Mac is probably starting for awhile before it gets around to checking on its Bluetooth devices. But, in any case it did not work to get rid of my friend's name.
I am *this* close to buying a brand new keyboard and trackpad so I can be rid of the accursed name.
There must be SOME way for my iMac to treat my existing keyboard and trackpad as if they were brand new, and get rid of the damned old incorrect info!
Anyone found a solution to this? I've seen other threads where people failed.

Holy snit, I found the solution.
For the keyboard:
In the Bluetooth Preferences, when you highlight the Keyboard and click the gear, click Rename, and - this is the part that everyone I've read about has failed to do - change the Display Name from, say, Will's Keyboard to Will B's keyboard. That changes the Display Name, which we already knew and which wasn't the point. The point is that it also changes the Name. Then, again change the name back to Will's Keyboard, and both the Display Name and the Name changes to Will's Keyboard.
For the Trackpad:
It doesn't work exactly the same, so be careful! Read the following in its entirety first before following any of the steps or you will be unpleasantly surprised!
In the Bluetooth Preferences, highlight the Trackpad and click the gear, click Rename, and - this is the part that everyone I've read about has failed to do - change the Display Name from, say, Will's Trackpad to Will B's Trackpad (pick the latter name VERY CAREFULLY BECAUSE IT WONT GO AWAY!). That changes the Display Name and it also changes the Name, and you will think everything is going fine. It isn't. Then, again change the name back to Will's Trackpad, and you will find that the Display Name changes to Will's Trackpad BUT THE NAME REMAINS Will B's Trackpad. I SAY AGAIN, THE "NAME" WILL NOT UPDATE CORRECTLY, SO PICK A NAME YOU CAN LIVE WITH!
