Displaying thumbnails in Bridge CS2

Hello, I've organized the photos from my Canon Digital Rebel XT in Adobe Bridge CS2 (Version 1.0.4.6) for years without a problem.  I shoot in RAW and those files are approx. 7 MB in size.  I recently received a Canon T3i and the files sizes are approx. 3 times as large and I'm having trouble getting Bridge to display a thumbnail.  I can't imagine it's a file size issue since I routinely have .psd files that are 70 MB and larger that I have no trouble having Bridge display a thumbnail.  The photos from both cameras are CR2.  Is there a settings in Bridge I should adjust?
Any other ideas why I can't get the photos from the new camera to display as thumbnails in Bridge?
Thanks for your help :-)

The fact that they have the same extension is irrelevant.  The files are fundamentally different.
The Canon T3i was supported for the first time in ACR 6.4 and later, which only run with CS5.
There is and there will be no version of ACR that will work with Bridge CS2 to open files from the T3i.
Your only option would be to use the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert your raw CS2 files to raw DNGs that you can then open in CS2.
If you have an Intel Machine, you want version 6.6 of the Adobe DNG Converter.  If your machine is older than the Intel Macs, e.g. any kind of Power Mac, then you need version 6.4 of the free Adobe DNG Converter, as later versions will not run on non-Intel machines.

  • .NRW files not displaying thumbnails in Bridge

.NRW RAW files from Nikon P7800 do not display thumbnails or metadata in Bridge. PsCC, Bridge and CR 8.3 are all showing as up to date on CC Desktop App. Files display correctly in Lr 5.3. Any suggestions ?

    I have:
    PhotoshopCC>Edit>Preferences>CameraRaw>8.3.0.141
    BridgeCC>Edit>CameraRawPreferences>8.2.0.94
The computer found  6 files  named Camera Raw.8bi.  They are in pairs , two in the CS5 folder and two in the CS6 folder, two in the CC folder. One of each pair has >Program Files(x86)> The other one has  >Program Files>.
When I go to C:\ Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats\ only one (Camera Raw.8bi) file shows. This was created on 18 March 2013 and modified on 3 December 2013.
If I go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats\ another (Camera Raw.8bi) file appears, created and modified same date and time as the first one.
Is this making any sense ? Thanks for your help.
It appears Bridge is using CR 8.2, the question is why and how do I persuade it to preference CR 8.3
By the way, I failed to mention it previously CR is converting and editing the NRW files normally, I just can't see their thumbnails in Bridge.

  • Missing thumbnails in Bridge-CS2

After importing from the CF card into LR 1 and processing in the Develop module, I no longer see thumbnails of NEF files in Bridge of CS2. The files open in CS2 as usual but an icon only appears in Bridge describing the file as NEF.

Is there any chance that your cache file is too small to hold all the thumbnail data?  If so it could be erasing the large ones to make room for others.
Have to compacted the cache to get rid of orpan files?
Are you using quick or HQ thumbnails?  If memory  and speed are considerations try quick thumbs.

  • Work around to get Drive files to display thumbnails in Bridge

My company recently installed Adobe Drive using a CMIS connection to Alfresco community edition (bear with me, I'm the art director not IT so I hope all that made sense) only to find out that CMIS connections don't support thumbnails and previews in bridge. I then inquired with Adobe about their DAM solution and they said that was for larger enterprises. I would like to know if anyone knows of a work around? I can't imagine we are the only company who wants to use the versioning drive offers AND maintain our workflow with bridge. Any help would be appreciated..

Hmmmm. Not so sure about that one.
Actually, it might be worth checking through the iPod + iTunesdownloads page to see if there are any useful widgets and whatnot for that there. (There's a few notes-related items showing up there too, which might work better than my suggestions about performing unnatural acts with your lyrics tags.)

  • CS2 + Bridge CS2 1.0.4.6 (104504) white thumbnails

Bridge CS2 displays only white thumbnails in all folders. Initial Desktop images show fine, but when changing to folders, all thumbnails are white boxes. Including when I go back to the Desktop - all thumbnails are white. Close Bridge and reopen and the Desktop thumbnails are fine again. Go to Folders, they're all white.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled, purged cache, tried everything I can find to get the thumbnails to display correctly - as they originally did. Sometime during an update things went bad.
Anyone have a solution please. isearched the forum and came up with nothing. I just can't stand going to the file open dialog box to open files instead of using Bridge as I have always done.
    Thanks.

Why? Are you talking CPU hours or staff-hours? Does your workflow require heavy
user interaction or is something else the problem?

  • Adobe Bridge CS3 - does not display thumbnails for Canon 40D or 50D RAW files

I wanted to use Bridge to view my Canon EOS 50D RAW files and it does not display the thumbnails, just icons. I checked my 40D cr2 files and saw same thing.
I have purged the cache and rest the cache preferences and it has not helped. I would like to be abl eto view the thumbnails of the RAW files via Bridge if possible. Jpg files and Tif files can be viewed without any issues.
Am using Bridge version 2.1.1.9 and Pshop CS3 10.0.1

I have the exact same problem. I can view my RAW file thumbnails (which are .ARW files from my Sony A200 camera) in the Finder and in other applications, such as Preview, but not in Adobe Bridge CS3. I know that I did try purging the cache at one point to see if that would fix it, but then I didn't know what to do after that. Before I purged the cache, I was able to view RAW thumbnails in Bridge, but then they would not increase in size when I tried using the slider (at the bottom right of the Bridge window)

  • FLVs created with ADOBE MEDIA ENCODER CS6 do not display thumbnails in ADOBE BRIDGE CS6

Could you please attempt to shed some light on why FLVs created with ADOBE MEDIA ENCODER CS6 do not display thumbnails in ADOBE BRIDGE CS6, yet apple finder is able to display thumbnails for these same FLVs without issue?
I'm running CS6 Production Premium with ALL updates installed on 10.6.8
I appreciate any input and help provided the input is provided by someone who either
    A) knows the answer because they actually work for adobe
    B) actually tried this themselves before attempting to provide a solution
If the conclusion is that it is a codec issue or a header issue with the FLVs You'd have to present a very strong case to back that claim up as it makes no sense whatsoever that CS6 is unable to generate thumbnails for media encoded using CS6, yet Apple finder can without issue. NOT to mention the FLVs in question are CREATED on the same machine with the same codecs installed that is trying to generate previews in Bridge.
Apologies if my frustration is showing, I've gotten and seen several... incompetent replies on this forum regarding this issue and it has never been actually addressed properly as far as I can tell by Adobe support.

We are all just incompetent users here.  As pointed out before this is just a user to user forum, Adobe rarely checks in.
I was hoping by now you would have gotten to the bottom of this problem and were offering a solution.

  • Bridge CS3 won't display thumbnails and locks up

Running a Mac G5 Dual 2gHz processors with OS 10.4.11 and 4GB ram...
I started today working with images on an internal drive and all was well until I selected an older external drive. Bridge vers. 2.0.0.975 would not display thumbnails on the older drives and stopped functioning altogether when selecting a different folder or any menu item.
Reinstalled Photoshop and Bridge and folders/thumbs from internal drive still displayed just fine, but still would not display on external drives. Ever since I tried holding down the option key when restarting Bridge, the the problem has spread to the internal drive and now those images will not display.
And yes, I did try upgrading to Bridge 2.1.1.9, but that update never worked at all for me.
I gotta vent here. Bridge CS3 has been a consistent headache from the first day of purchase. Since Bridge CS3 has never worked properly, how can I justify the purchase of Photoshop CS4 upgrade?

    Hey Jim
Good it worked, seem to remember that there have been problems with some users and the auto update feature from Adobe?
Whenever I used Bridge CS3 for a week or 6 to 8 (I also work with it a lot and and also large amount of files) trouble was coming up and I just delete the plist and cache file and restarted with option to refresh prefs. I don't use the cache for archive purpose and usual work with one main folder. After finished I move the files to specific folders without caching those so after deleting cache I only need to recache a few folders and was able to work flawlessly for a certain period.
I must say that Bridge CS4 is more stable and is working also very nice and again better compared to the prior version.
For system maintenance I use Disk Warrior every now and then but Cocktail on a daily basis, scheduled automatically after an also time scheduled auto start up of system and some apps. Cocktail is cheap and easy, :-)

  • Bridge CC not displaying thumbnail/preview large PSD (win7)

    Hello!
Latest Bridge CC, will not display thumbnail or preview of many of my large (1.5-3gb) PSD files.
    1) I have PURGED CACHE in Prefs
    2) I've individual cleared cache for individual PSDs.
So, I just see the generic icon.
My only reason for even using Bridge is to visually select from my large PSD/TIFFS without having to open them first.
I'm pretty sure these same files previewd when I was running CS6 Bridge.  Lightroom 5's import will show the preview.
    Thanks

It was strange since the thumbnails work in CS5.1 and 6
Then you must have set them before to a larger amount, I believe the default is 1000 MB and has been so for as long as I can remember
But I'm not sure about the generic icon because usually it shows a low quality thumb with black border, like the ones you get when using 'Prefer embedded' as quality.

  • Error Message when starting Bridge CS2: "create redeclared"

I get this "create redeclared" error message on the following line of code:
    var labelMenu = MenuElement.create( "command", "Label", "at the end of Thumbnail");
but then this function and all others work just fine afterwards. Is there a way to either fix the error or suppress this warning? It's really more of an annoyance than anything else.
    I'm using Bridge CS2 1.0.4.6

This happens if you try to create a menu that already exists. Use MenuElement.find() to avoid re-creating a menu with the same ID.

  • InDesign thumbnails in Bridge CS4

I've noticed that some InDesign CS2 and CS4 files do not show thumbnails in Bridge CS4. I tried the Build and Export Cache function in the Tools menu and nothing changed. Any suggestions?
Also, I would be interested in a Bridge extension for harvesting thumbnails for old PageMaker 6.5 and 7 files.

Here is a link that has the same problem.  No real jump in your face solultion, but hopefully it will help guide you.

  • Help! can't see CR2 thumbnails In Bridge

    what can I try?
I cannot see the thumbnails in Bridge but can go into CS4 and open them up no problem
I shoot Canon 5d Mark II
    I downloaded Camera Raw 5.3
works fine for my regular 5D but no on the new Mark II
    any suggestions?
    thanks!

Hi - Joan's husband here (I built the computer hardware for her, but don't
really know Photoshop that well). I did a search for "camera raw" files and
found a second instance located in the adobe/common files folder (not in
program file subfolders as the proper plugin is located per instructions).
It was the 5.0 version, and I could not do anything with it, eg delete it as
it "was in use by a program", even though I had no prgrams open. I was able
to rename it to "old camera raw 5-0", and I copied the new camera raw 5.4
version into that folder. I rebooted and now had 3 camera raw plugins
appearing in CS4/hlep/about/plugins drop down list.
I then went back into the common file folder and was able to delete the old
camera raw file. I now have two camera raw files appearing in the
help/aboutplugins dropdwon, but they are both the same 5.4 version. Now I am
able to see a selection to generate a high quality thumbnail for the cs2
files in Bridge when I right-clicked on those, and this generated the
thumbnails for all of those file types. All is well now (I hope !!), thanks
    for your input and advice.
I did purge the cache, but that didn't change anything as far as I could
tell. Also, the 5.4 update doesn't show the Canon 5D Mark II on the list of
updated cameras for this revision, so I don't think it is a necessary update
for this specific camera, but probably good to stay current.
If this was an "end-run" around a proper fix then I would like to know the
    proper way to resolve this.

  • Bridge CS2 - files over a network

I have been using Bridge CS2 for a while now. It is mainly used for the preview and management of RAW files. Until recently, the files have been located on the local drive (C:) and there has been no issue. However, I have recently, for security reasons, moved all of the files onto a Linux file server. Ever since then, it has been painfully slow using Bridge, infact it crashes infrequently.
I know that the solution may seem obvious - the file transmission is being slowed by the network/server. However the network runs a gigabit LAN with a gigabit switch between the two machines. The physical location of the server is less than two meters from the workstation, and I can confirm that the LAN is infact running at 1000 (monitoring via task manager of file transfer in Explorer between two machines). Regardless, even at 100bit LAN, Bridge should still be running smoothly.
I copy the RAW files (about 12meg each pic) onto the server, and then open Bridge and it takes about 10mins to load up about 100 files.
I have tried clearing the cache, and running the cache on both the local and network machine, and all of the this suggested by Adobe http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=317912.
As far as I can tell, Bridge is taking a long time to build the thumbnails. I have even tried turning off anti-virus and firewall, but there is no difference. Every other network activity takes little/no time and I need this to work smoothly. Surely I don't have to restrict to local files!
Please help me! Do I need to change any settings? Is it normal for Bridge to take so long over a network?

I realise that operating over a network is never faster than a local drive, however using a gigabit LAN and dedicated file server should be the closest thing to running a local drive, if not as fast as a USB2.0 drive (which runs at 480Mbps).
I have however been able to solve the problem. I am not sure if this is an actual "fix" but I did a few things:
    1) I unmounted the network drive and remounted it using SUBST (ie "SUBST X: C:\directory\path")
    2) I cleared the cache for both Bridge and the Camera Raw ("C:\Documents and Settings\ [user] \Application Data\Adobe\Bridge" & "C:\Documents and Settings\ [user] \Application Data\Adobe\Camera Raw"); then
    3) I rebooted all machines (including the sever with "sudo shutdown -Fh now"); and finally
    4) After reopening Bridge the first time I closed it down again and cleared the cache again.
Now it works perfectly - infact it is very close to the speed it was working with the local drive. The cache build very fast and there is no more hanging or crashes, and I am back to the old Bridge!!
