Displaying video input from Firwire

I have a Firewire feed from a video camera and I just want to display it full screen, live not recorded. Photobooth will do it but it is mirror image. Can anyone suggest something else ?

QuickTime X > File > New Movie Recording provides an unmirrrored preview that nearly fills the screen if you expand its window. If Photo Booth can see your FireWire camera, QTX should as well.

    I purchase this system used without an operating system. I installed windows 7 and downloaded the drivers from Hp. All drivers are installed properly and the Avermedia (A327) mini card driver can be seen in device manager.
    Yet, the A327 tv tuner will not give me access to the s-video input. I can get tv thru the rf connection but I want to use the s-video because it has a cleaner signal.
    Any information about the s-video port will be appreciated..

    Hi Cnmarsh,
    I understand you are having an issue with the Touchsmart Iq506t with  Windows 7, unable to access s-video input from Windows Media Center.
    I read from your post that drivers are installed properly and the Aver media mini card drivers are seen in device manager.
    I was wondering if the any of the drivers in Device Manager have a Yellow caution?
    Also, is the Touchsmart Iq506t software all up to date?

  • Flash Media Encoder Doesn't display my video input from my All-in-Wonder 2006 AGP card

    I have a All-in-Wonder 2006 AGP video card that has multiple video inputs. I got Flash Media Live Encoder to see my video card but when I connected one of the many video inputs it would not display in Flash encoder video preview. The audio did not come through either. I'm running in Win XP and the video card model number I believe is All in Wonder 2006 AGP 256M NA.

    What is the output format of this card? Is it encoded such as mpeg-2 or raw?

  • Thunderbolt display : Video input into thunderbolt port?

    Hi,
    I've got two major questions about the Apple thunderbolt Display :
    - Can the thunderbolt port located on the back of the display be used as an video input?
      . Is it possible to plug a second mac equiped with a thunderbolt port to this port?
      . If it's possible, how does the display manage to switch between the two macs?
    - Is it possible to plug an external HDMI source such as Blueray reader, Play station, etc. with an "hdmi - mini display port" cable?
    Thank you very much for your answers !

    I can confirm that the Thunderbolt Display will work when plugged in to the 2011 MacBook Pro 15" and a 2011 Mac Mini Server connected via Apple's Thunderbolt cable.  When both systems are connected to the monitor, the display will always prefer the system connected to its display port,  when it sleeps or is powered down, the other system detects the available display and connects to it automatically.  I can't imagine a more ideal sinerio!
    Thank you Apple!

  • Mark an object in real time on a displayed video acquired from an USB camera

    Hello,
    I am a beginner LabView user undertaking a project in which I need to show video acquired from an USB camera in LabView on computer screen. In the video, there will be a metal part, which is always be at a fixed position at the bottom left of the view. I need to mark an arrow alike sign on the metal part, please take a look at the attached picture. To recognize the metal part easier, in the picture, I drew a blue line at the boundary of the part, whilst the arrow was green. The arrow must be radially pointed to the center of the blue line (but, the blue line may not need to be created) and must be there every time I start the VI, throughout the video.
    How should I do to display the video? Is there any way to create the arrow in LabView (either by programming or manually drawing the arrow)? If making the arrow is impossible, is there any way to just mark a cross at the center of the blue line? The blue line does not need to be marked on the video.
    I have LabView 2010 with Vision Development Module. My camera can be found under NI IMAQdx devices in Measurement and Automation Explorer.
    Thanks,

  • Profile.xml: how to select a video input (from number not name)

    Hello,
    I'm using FMEcmd in command-line mode with a custom
    profile.xml
    If I look at the profile.xml it looks like the selection of
    the inputs (video and audio) is only possible by giving the full
    name of the input (not just the input number like for Real Producer
    or Windows Media Encoder).
    The app. I'm developing will be used with a webcam and I dont
    have the information about the model someone will be using (and the
    user won't open the FME GUI to generate a profile).
    Is it really not possible to select an input from its number
    (as seen by windows)?
    If not do you have any suggestion to overcome this
    limitation?
    Also I've played with <crossbar_input> but I'm not sure
    what it means.
    Thanks
    <video>
    <device> ToUcam Pro Camera; Video</device>
    <crossbar_input>0</crossbar_input>
    <frame_rate>15.00</frame_rate>
    <size>
    <width>320</width>
    <height>240</height>
    </size>
    </video>
    <audio>
    <device>Appareil photo Philips ToUcam F</device>

    <sample_rate>22050</sample_rate>
    <channels>1</channels>
    <input_volume>75</input_volume>
    </audio>

    Now that FME 2.5 is out I tried again. I still can't find the
    possibility to select the source from number (like Windows Media
    Encoder or Real Producer can).
    Can someone confirm that this possibility is not present in
    2.5?
    Is there any slight chance it will be implemented in the next
    version?
    What work around do you advise?
    Thanks for any answers.

  • Display Videos retrieved from Database?

    Hi all,
    I am trying to display videos from my database, does anyone know how to do this? I would like to display the video on my jsp page. I have no problem retrieving it but how do i get it to have a player for example like embedding a video from Youtube. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Well it doesn't work as the video which you are retriving from the database is not in SWF / FLV or any shockwave supported format.
    Well if i were given a similar situation i'd solve it by the below stratergy.
    1).I'd Query my database and i'd get some metadata about the video like
    (videoId interger(5) PK,videoName varchar(50) not null,isYouTubeVideo varchar(1) not null,youTubeVideoUrl varchar(200),videoMimeType varchar(40) not null)
    2).On a basic grounds i'd apply a small display logic if the video is a youtube video( as youtube simply converts the videos into FLV format with a high compression ratio) or if the video's MIME type is video/x-flv (FLV's mime type) lets simply use youtube's standard embeding feature and render the JSP accordingly else use Media Player's embeding feature and render the JSP accordingly.
    jsp code snippet
    eg:*
    <jsp:useBean id="videoBean" class="com.myapp.entity.VideoBean" scope="request"/>
    <c:choose>
       <c:when test="${videoBean.YouTubeVideo == 'Y' || videoBean.videoMimeType == 'video/x-flv'}">

  • FMLE Bug: Encoder changes video input from Composite to SVHS

    I have a video signal on the Composite input of my video card and I am encoding using FMLECmd.exe
    The problem is that when I change the video input to "Composite" using the Video Device's Property Pages,
    FMLECmd.exe sets it back to SVideo again after it stops encoding.
    So, before each encode I need to bring up the Property Pages go and change the input to "Composite" again.
    How can I work around this FMLECmd bug, any ideas?
    Thanks.

    FMLE saves Advance Device Property settings in profile file. When you change Input type to Comosite, make sure that you save a profile for that setting.
    Next time when you start FMLECmd, start it with saved profile and it should work with Compsite input this time.
    What you were doing is probably not closing FMLE after making changes in Device property page due to which settings are not getting saved in startup.xml profile and next time when FMLECmd starts with startup.xml by default it was loading prevoius settings having SVideo input.
    So try closing FMLE GUI after changing device property page and then start FMLECmd with stratup.xml file or save these settings in some other proifle file and start FMLECmd with saved profile file
    Let me know if this works for you?

  • Video input from VHS?

    I have an iBook G4 12" and have a need to get images off of VHS. Not having done this before, I was wondering what the best (and least expensive) means of doing so would be in terms of hardware and software.
    Many thanks for any ideas, and apologies if this is a blindingly obvious query.

    markbwilson, Welcome to the discussion area!
    You essentially need a device to convert analog video from your VHS deck to a DV (digital video) stream.
    One solution is to get an inexpensive mini-DV camcorder with digital pass through. This will allow you to connect the analog video out from the VHS player to the analog video ports on the camcorder. Then the camcorder will connect to your iBook via a 4-pin to 6-pin Firewire cable. You can then use iMovie to capture the video.
    Another solution is to buy a dedicated analog video/DV converter box.
    I prefer the first solution since you will also end up with a mini-DV camcorder to use.

    hi tony
    Thank you very much for reply, I very appreciate this.for tansnsmitting video using rtp protocol we need to specify the network output for media transmission(ie Medialocator).what i mean is we need to create a medialocator specifing the destination of our broadcast. which look like a typical url rtp://address:port/content-type ,here the address is the address to which video must be tansmitted.to transmit in unicast mode this address should be the address of the intended machine.its working fine.to transmit in mulitcast mode with a subnet we can do this by replacing 255 with last field of the address part.it also working fine within subnet so that we can display video captured from one cam to multiple destination
    ** this is the real problem whcih i m facing now is how to make it to work in internet? to mutliple destination? whether i need to create multiple medialocator url??? anybody have any idea? plz help thanking u in advance?

  • No video input for external devices on iMac 24" display???

    I got a 24" iMac a few days ago and love this thing. (Was in PC **** for last 30 years...) But one thing I am disappointed in is that there appears to be no video input to display video or to video capture. Is the only way to display video from an outside source by using a USB video capture device? For example, if I have a cable box or game console I want to display on the monitor, how can I do that? Seems silly to need to use a capture device to simply display video. Please let me know if there is simple way to do this. Thanks!

    I don't see how using a camcorder would help especially although it would be technically possible to use it as a bridge between other devices I can't see how it would be worth your while.
    Obviously not speaking from experience since almost all if not all DV cameras have passthrough, and feed video into a mac via firewire from the analog audio and video input port on the DV camera. They have been used for ages as decks (and are many times cheaper than DV decks) and as converters vs. buying a Canopus box etc., which are basically the same thing.
    The EYE TV 250 does the same thing with a USB connection and its own software but for the myriad of DV cam owners the passthrough is a fine idea.

  • Did any of the 17-inch Studio LCD displays have an S-Video input?

    The subject line says it all.
    I know that years ago I had an Apple LCD display that had an S-Video input, but I don't remember which model and size it was.
    Thanks for the help.
    Macbook, Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    I finally got the 17 inch display apart.
    I took some pictures while it was apart, and I will put them on my iDisk as soon as I get around to it.
    Here are a few pointers:
    1. The 17 inch display is completely different from the 12 and 15 inch displays. Don't waste your money on any take apart guides for those models. They won't help you; they will only confuse you.
    2. The main source of difficulty in separating the back from the display is that it is held on by these fiendish spring-metal fingers that actually tighten their grip when you attempt to pull the back off.
    3. Don't use metal tools to pry the back off. You will scratch it, bend it, and damage the cables that run just inside where the case opens up.
    4. Wrap the cable ends in tissue and secure with tape to prevent them from scratching the screen while you wrestle with the display.
    5. Start working from the hinged end of the display. The fingers down at this end come loose fairly easily, and the hinge prevents the screen from flexing as you pry the back away, thus preventing the screen from cracking.
    6. Use plastic putty knives , popsicle sticks or tongue depressors to pry the back away from the screen and shim the opening. Slide them along or insert new ones as you go.
    7. As you open up the gap between the aluminum back and the gray plastic trim ring, look inside for the bright metal spring clips. They will be hidden behind tabs projecting from the gray plastic trim ring. Take a small jeweler's screwdriver and carefully pry the edge of the spring clip outward and towards the back. Be careful not to pierce the Airport cable which is strung around the outside of the display very close to these clips.
    8. Once you have release the spring clips from the bottom and both sides of the display, slide the back up and off of the display assembly. Set the back aside and place the display assembly face down on the work table.
    Whew!
    You are now ready to proceed with repairs to the display assembly.
