Displaying Video & Photos on Samsung LED TV

I have a MacBook Pro and an iMac connected to a home wireless network. I also have a Samsung 8000 LED TV and a Samsung BD 1600 Blu Ray player with the Samsung wireless stick that they require in order to stream Netflix wirelessly through the Blu Ray player to the LED TV. That is working fine through our home wireless network.
I want to be able to view my iPhoto slideshows, etc. on both my MacBook Pro and my iMac on the Samsung 8000 LED TV. How do I configure these devices to be able to accomplish that?
Thanks.
Neil

Samsung don't offer any support for Mac OS X - the software they ship with the TV is Windows-only.
If you want network streaming there's a dearth of DLNA options for the Mac. All my (limited) research points to MediaTomb as being the most likely candidate - it acts as a UPnP/DLNA server that the TV should be able to stream from, but I haven't yet spent the time to get it working.
If you can eschew the network stream path you can use the TV as a monitor (get a DVI -> HDMI cable and plug the Mac straight in, or you can copy the media to a USB drive and connect that to the TV, then play the content from the USB drive.

  • I have a Macbook Pro 13.3 i5 w/ no hdmi port. How can I connect my Mac to TV to watch video, photo ?  Is the Thunderbolt port a mini display port where I can use a mini display port to HDMI cable? If not, what are my options??

I have a Macbook pro 13.3 w/ i5 that has no hdmi port. I want to be able to connect the Mac to my TV set to watch Video, Photos and files from Mac to TV.
Is the Thunderbolt port similar to a display port or mini display port? Can I use thunderbolt port to connect thru a mini displayport to HDMI cable or converter?
Been trying to locate a USB to HDMI cable or converter (at a reasonable price) but all I found is a displayport or mini displayport to HDMI cable/converter.
What other options are available ?
Thanks a lot for your assistance.

Thunderbolt uses a Mini DisplayPort adapter to send video and audio to HDMI. Using Azul media player app on my ipad  Apple tv will only display sound but not video from movies.  Any ideas on a fix.  I set mirroring to on but it still does not display video.  It will display photos and video recorded from my iphone.

Here are the steps for AirPlay:
Before starting Azul from your (running iOS 5.x/6.x) home screen where have have all your apps we need to turn on mirroring
On your iPhone 4S/5 or iPad 2 or 3, double-click the Home  Button to view your recently-used apps.
Swipe all the way to the right to until you see the  icon.
Note: If the icon does not appear, go to the "If AirPlay Mirroring is not visible or available on your mobile iOS device" section.
Tap the  icon to see the list of available AirPlay devices.
Enable AirPlay Mirroring in this menu by tapping on an available Apple TV, then sliding the Mirroring slider to ON.
Now you should be seeing your iPad/iPhone on your TV.
Start up Azul now and using the settings icon on the top right corner go to the option that say "TV out" ON.
When you do that you will see an Orange screen
Now click "Done" and play the video you want to watch and it will AirPlay

  • Need instructions on how to download photos and videos from my Samsung cell to my iPhoto

Need instruction for how to import photos and videos from my Samsung cell phone to iPhoto.  Thx

Copy the files to the Mac and then drag them to the iPhoto window, or use the File -> Add to Library command
As for how to connect the phone and the Mac, for that you'll need to read the manual for the phone or seek support from a Samsung or Android (that's the operating system) site.

  • Apple Macbook Pro Retina with display issue Samsung LED

Once I have plugged the HDMI cable from Macbook Pro to Samsung 24" LED Monitor, the display remains black. Doesn't seemed like the samsung monitor recognised the Apple Macbook Pro at all. I have reset the PRAM and troubleshoot it with Apple and meanwhile still waiting for answer from Apple. They have acknowledged of the problem but there is no solution. I erally need the second extended monitor for my design work. Bit ridiculus that the most powerful Apple system cannot even do the simplest thing. I am stuck now. Please help.

Just letting everyone in the forum know that I have been a loyal user of apple for the past 20 years and this is quite embarassing to know that HDMI cannot work with a samsung LED monitor. In addition, I have been a Apple Tech and Sales.
Also, there are a lot of users out there who are having the same propblem,. This is certainly not good enough.
I still find it wayyyyy too early to blame Apple so generally. This other "lot of users" has a lot of home-made problems, such as incompatible displays, adapters, etc.
BTW, mind telling the exact display model number?
And thanks for the response further above.

  • Hidden items get displayed on photo and video widget

Why hidden items are displayed in photo and video widget on home screen it should not be displayed their???plz suggest me how to hide from their..

To change between Video, Photo and Square you slide those options up/down so that the one that you want lines up with the yellow dot to their left - or you can drag the screen up/down to switch between them

  • Can the ipod photo display video ?

I have an ipod photo 60GB & i was wondering if it can display video if i updated its software & downloaded itunes 6.

No. Not at this time. Technically, hackers have been able to get the photo to play video, but only when they installed Linux on their iPod, so not a real practical solution. That said, the screen on the photo is too small for video, so if you really want video best bet is to sell the photo and get a 5G. The screen is a LOT nicer and readable than another other iPod screen to-date.

  • Problems connecting my macbook pro to my samsung led Tv

Hi. I try to present some pictures and videos by connecting my macbook pro to my samsung led Tv but my mac doesn't recognize the Tv (or it could be that my TV doesn't recognize the mac). What should I do?

I have problems too with some projectors and the DVI--VGA adapter that came with my MBP. The projector is recognized by the computer, but does not show any signal.
With the help of Stéphane Madrau, who has written the excellent tool SwitchResX, I found out that the projector reports that it takes digital input when I connect the MacBook Pro, but analog when I connect it to my 12" PBG4. From the DDC information (collected with SwitchResX):
    MacBook Pro, DVI--VGA:
    Input signal & sync:
    Digital
    PBG4, miniDVI--VGA:
    Input signal & sync:
    Analog input with: 0.700V / 0.300V
    Separate Sync
    Composite Sync
Given that the VGA cable is analog only, I would think that the MBP tries (or rather, does) output digital signals only, which don't make it into the VGA cable. If I find a solution I will post it here.
The clue was that the computer did not report any vertical scan frequencies for the external display, while it did so for a projector that worked.

  • Mac mini (mid 2011) to Samsung led tv via hdmi connection problem.

    Samsung led tv - UE32D5000
    Mac mini (mid 2011)
On regular monitor (connected by hdmi to dvi cable) setup teamviewer
    Try to:
    1. Connect different hdmi cables - dose not work (on apple tv - both cables work)
    2. Connect hdmi cable to different hdmi ports.
    3. On tv change type of source - PC, PC-DVI and other.
By teamviewer I watched what was going on the computer - Mac mini does not recognize tv like monitor by pressing 'seek monitor'.

Aha! Similar problem here; Mini (Intel, Macmini2,1, the 2007 version with the larger HDI port not the smaller one)
Problem seems to happen only with both HDMI and USB connected (USB only to use the built-in webcam on the monitor, an AOC V22+ (which I love, it's a very nice monitor; LED instead of fluorescent backlight).
Sometimes it would suddenly switch to where the dock and menu bars and status bar were hidden (the desktop gets 'too big for the screen).
Then I'd go to the Display settings and unselect "overscan"
Then it'd be OK for a while, then switch to a big black space around the desktop window, lots of unused screen).
Then I'd go to the Display settings and reselect "overscan" and it'd be Ok.
    For a while.
There really ought not be a need to fiddle with 'overscan' at all -- since I'm not using this as a television. Mac OS 10.3.6 seems to mistakenly think the monitor is being used as a TV -- maybe when there's a video in a browser window?
    Not sure.
Anyhow it becomes a rock-paper-scissors problem where I have to keep chasing the settings to undo whatever it changes to at random, Lather rinse repeat.
Seems like it's only a problem for me when I have the USB cable also connected, to use the built-in webcam -- so I don't use that now.
The AOC folks have been working hard on solving this.
I just found this topic and have referred them here.
They'll be glad to know it's not their problem, I guess.
(does it happen on Apple brand displays too? I'm not sure)

  • Macbook Pro retina + Samsung LED 24" external monitor

Hi all, I just bought Macbook Pro 13.3" Retina and im having some troubles.
When I connect those two via VGA adapter I see some strange artifact effect on external monitor.
I dont know hot to name that artifact but it is the same thing that you can see when you take your camera or smartphone and try to record old tv screen for example. You will see that parallel lines goes up or down. This effects is easy to notice when you put something with dark background on external monior (like Unity3D Pro IDE with dark skin in my case).
    The interesting things are:
    - when I switch external monitor from VGA adapter connection to HDMI-HDMI then everything works fine with no artifacts.
    - when I'm using VGA adapter and connect Macbook Pro to another external monitor (AOC 24" LCD) then everything works ok aswell.
    - when I take my Samsung LED monitor and connect it to another PC (Windows 8) with VGA everything works great.
So I belive that this issue is related to all three of them (MacbookPro + Sasmung LED + VGA adapter) and I really dont know who to blame and what to do.
Dose anyome have an idea how to solve this and what to do?]
    thanks

    Hi luisvf7,
So it seems you are having issues with your MacBook Pro not displaying properly on your external display. It does sound like a frustrating situation. Let’s see if we can get you up and running.
I would suggest that you use the steps in this article to troubleshoot the problem -

  • Video driver for Samsung TV

I have a media center computer that is connected to a Samsung LED TV. Windows 8 shows it as a generic monitor. Are there video drivers for large screen TVs?
    Thanks

I use Windows 7. To change the resolution, go to the control panel and select Display>Adjust resolution or type/copy "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Screen Resolution" into the navigation bar. Select the monitor that represents the TV,
write down the "Recommended resolution" and select Advanced Settings. Select the Monitor tab and then Properties. Select the Driver tab and then Update Driver. Next, select "Browse my computer for driver software." Select the lower option "Let me pick from
a list of device drivers on my computer." Un-check the "Show compatible hardware" check box. Under Manufacture, select "Standard monitor types", this should be the default, scroll the Model box until you see the Digital Flat Panel models resolution that you
want. I suggest starting with the "recommended resolution" recorded above.
If this resolution is not correct, check the TV specifications for the resolution or the aspect ratio. You can use this aspect ratio to figure out the resolution that you want. For example, if you want to use ?????X1080, multiply 1080 x aspect ratio. This
should get you close enough to find the correct setting within a few tries.
My Samsung TV allows me to change the aspect ratio for computer connections. I do not need to because I use an advanced graphics card.
I hope that this is helpful.

  • How to display a photo slideshow in Widescreen 16x9 format?

I just bought a 5g iPod and the A/V connection kit. I can play a photo slideshow on my 16x9 TV, but it stretches the photos to fit the screen, so they are out of proper aspect ratio. Is there a way to tell my iPod that it should be displaying the photos on a 16x9 screen?
I understand that there is a widescreen option in the Video playback menu, but this does not seem to have any effect on the output of photo slideshows.

    Jon,
See if this works. It may or may not.
    Go to videos-->video settings-->Widescreen-->On
See if now when you play the photo slideshow it works right.
Now, if it doesn't then I don't think there is much you can do.
Tell Apple about the issue (if the steps above don't solve it)
