Displayname update to Hostname LMS 4.1

Our Cisco team does inventory pulls with CNC and i was informed that this uses the hostname field currently the report pulls the IPadress, the discoveries that run on the LMS populates displayname field and puts the IP address in the hostname field.   is there anyway to update this via query or process, i have too many devices to manually update this.
Ken

If your LMS only uses the IP address, the most common cause is the the address is not resolvable by the DNS server configured in LMS.
If you do not or cannot for whatever reason get them into DNS, you can use a local hosts file on the LMS server with all the necessary records and rediscover the devices.

  • Is there any Enterprise Manager Utility that can help update the Hostname

I have installed An Oracle Database 12c and further planning to install Enterprise Manager 12c CC on top of this,
Since occassionally my system IP changes due to dhcp configuration, hence i prefer using hostnames instead of IP address and further update hosts.properties file iwthin C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
further in case if i have to change the hostname of my machine, is there any utility that will help to update the hostname across properties files of all the Enterprise Manager components ?
Also when installing 12c EMCC, i understand there is a pre-requisite to deconfig dbcontrol.
In my case when i run from on Oracle 12c Database home, - emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop,
    I get unkown command error.
C:\app\Oracle\product\12.1.0\dbhome_1\BIN>emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
'emca' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
    C:\app\Oracle\product\12.1.0\dbhome_1\BIN>
kindly guide from where do i run the deconfig command or whether is it really required or not

  • Update to Prime LMS 4.2.3

    Hello
After update to LMS 4.2.3 is get always a message to confirm when login:
"Server is capable for performance tuning. Please enable PTT ...."
Even when i setup PTT the message will come again next time i login.
The message comes also several times after login.
Does anybody know where to disable this message?
    Regards,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
    That's bizarre...
After CLI 'rmeptt.bat -show' does the output really show 'The profile applied on this machine is: perftune_Windows'?

  • Dynamic User update issue on LMS 3.2

    Win2008 VM:
    1. Campus Manager 5.2.1
    2. CiscoView 6.1.9
    3. CiscoWorks Assistant 1.2.0
    4. CiscoWorks Common Services 3.3.0
    5. Device Fault Manager 3.2.0
    6. Integration Utility 1.9.0
    7. LMS Portal 1.2.0
    8. Resource Manager Essentials 4.3.1
    hello
Setup Dynamic Updates on LMS a few months back and tested ok with a WS-C2960-24PC-L running c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-52.SE. Dynamic Updates has now stopped working! no changes on LMS or on switch. i've attached a trace debug for MAC UHIC - i can see the mac address (sent by the 2960) ok but the process ends with "macuhic INFO MacUhicDBTransaction: No data in the MAC notification entry.getMacEventSize() is 0". i've also attached the mac notification config on the 2960.
previously i could configure the 2960 switch from LMS through the Device Trap Configuration page. now when i try this i get:
There are no ports to configure for the selected device(s).
Check whether you have selected any router(s).
any ideas on where i go from here?
    thanks
    andy
ps i've also rebooted server but issue persists

    hello
thanks for the response. i had found the following in the MACUHIC log:
2010/10/08 16:15:33 main macuhic INFO TrapListenerFilterImpl: FileNotFoundExcpetion was caught since NMSRoot\campus\etc\cwsi\portsData.xml and NMSRoot\campus\etc\cwsi\vlanData.xml file is not found
2010/10/08 16:15:33 main macuhic INFO TrapListenerFilterImpl: FileNotFoundException occured since Campus Data Collection has not run even once
2010/10/08 16:15:33 main macuhic INFO TrapListenerFilterImpl: NullPointerException occured since there are no XML files. XML file will be generated only at the completion of Data Collection
i checked NMSRoot\campus\etc\cwsi and these files didn't exist.
i reinitialized the ANI database and done a network discovery before running a full Data Collection. Data Collection finishes but the  vlanData.xml and portsData.xml still aren't created.
when i now try and run a manual UT acquisition i get the error:
Failed to start acquisition: Construction of XML data required for UT is in progress. Please try after some time.
there are 2 autonomous AP managed by LMS but i excluded them from the Data Collection - does this sound like bug CSCtd49439?
i've attached a pdshow output - the ani.log contains a lot of IP/naming which i'll have to edit
    cheers

  • Updating DNS hostname

I'm sure I should know how to do this but I need to know how to update the our server's hostname in DNS. We're using Mac OS X Server 10.4.7 and it's just not clear to us.
We're trying to change our IP address on the server as we just moved and have a new IP address.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Do in Terminal : host -v -t NS <yourdomain>
These are the nameservers hosting your domain.
If one of these is the IP your server had before the move you have to alter that setting at a/the registrar for your (top-)domain to reflect the IP # change.
Otherwise the record for your server IP has to be changed on the servers hosting your domain.
You are hosting some of your own public services?

  • Update apache of lms 3.1

    Hi,
According to this link (https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=48359) Apache has some vulnerabilities which we need to address. Is it possible to upgrade apache on the lms server?
    Regards Marco Kerklaan

It turns out this vulnerablity does not affect LMS.
This issue is not affecting the LMS.
Please have a look at the following bug ID.
    http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCtf54872
as you can see as I suspected we are not using This module in the LMS.
So as a workaround you can safely comment the line
    LoadModule isapi_module modules/mod_isapi.so
    From httpd.conf file.
    Regards Marco.

  • Ciscoworks LMS 2.5 don`t working software & devices updates

Terrible happened The old server with LMS on the Solaris operating system refused to work, but I have backup. I installed LMS 2.5 (CiscoView 6.1.2), RME 4.0.3. Posted all network objects that were in the old system from backup. But none of them can not do in the utility Netconfig, all the checkbox on the switches Cisco ME 3400-24TS-A inactive, butwith the Cisco 3750 is no such problem, it works. As I understand it, I must run Device Update, but the answer is a "No updates available in CCO for selected product (s)." The same problem with Software Update, I can not upgrade to LMS 2.6 and other products too. Tell me what to do? Some screenshots attached below.

Maybe Cisco has stopped maintaining the online update repositories for LMS 2.x. Alternatively, you can try finding the relevant RME/CiscoView/Campus Manager device updates at
    http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/navigator.html?mdfid=268439477&i=rp
For example, select RME, instead of LMS, to find if the RME device pkgs are available for download. Once downloaded, you can apply them on the LMS servers locally.

  • Update CW with device hostnames

    Hello All,
We have a few hundred devices in cisco works and are currently going through a name changing exercise. We have been updating the hostnames of the devices on the actual devices but as we are discovering this does not filter through to Cisco Works. Any idea how I can do a bulk update to get all the names in Cisco Works to match our Cisco device hostnames?
    Thanks,
    Mike.

You can do this with Discovery provided Discovery can automatically determine the proper hostname.  See https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9005 and more specifically https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9005#IP_and_Hostname_Updates_To_DCR on how to make sure DCR gets updated with the correct hostname values.

  • LMS 3.0.1 Master / Slave upgrade

    Hi,
We have two LMS servers 3.0.1 deployed in Master/Slave mode. And are working properly. But we are unable to add Cisco rtr2900 series router for its configuration managemnet.Current RME version is 4.1.1.
I want to go for a device update online or can be downloaded in psu_download folder. I have a confusion that
Should I upgrade Common Services (RME devices list) in the same Master/Slave mode or i need to setup both in standalone mode. Which one should be preferred.
Will it be enough to update RME 4.1.1 device list in LMS 3.0.1 or i must go for RME 4.3 (which requries all packages updates i mean LMS 3.2) becuase Cisco 2951 Router and Cisco 2911 Router can be added to current version of RME 4.1.1 by online update to CISCOWORKS LMS 3.0.1 and Cisco 2921 Routers and Cisco 2901 Routers can be added the updated version of CISCOWORKS LMS 3.2. Our requirement configuration mangemnet of Cisco rtr2901 and Cisco rtr2911

    Thanks & Regards

You should upgrade RME software on both machines and update the devices packages on both machines.
This is not related to if the are master or slave from a DCR point of view

  • ISE - Loss of All Nodes in a Distributed Deployment, Recovery Using New IP Addresses and Hostnames

    Hi Experts,
I have a question regarding ISE disaster recovery with same hostname and IP. For step 2, is it a must to generate a self signed cert? is it possible to use back to original N1 CA- signed certificate?
    esolution Steps
    1. Obtain the N1 backup and restore it on N1A. See "Restoring Data from a Backup" section for more information. The restore script will identify the hostname change and domain name change, and will update the hostname and domain name in the deployment configuration based on the current hostname.
    2. You must generate a new self-signed certificate. See "Generating a Self-Signed Certificate" section for more information.
    3. You must log in to the Cisco ISE user interface on N1A, choose Administration > System > Deployment, and do the following:
    a. Delete the old N2 node. See "Removing a Node from Deployment" section for more information.
    b. Register the new N2A node as a secondary node. See "Registering and Configuring a Secondary Node" section for more information. Data from the N1A node will be replicated to the N2A node.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/ise/1-1-1/user_guide/ise_user_guide/ise_backup.html

    Hi,
The reason for asking to create a self signed cert is , the subject name of the certificate should match  ISE node FQDN. If you import the N1 node CA- signed certificate, that certificate will have the hostname of N1 node as its subject name and it will not work.
So you have to create a self signed certificate or get a new CA signed certificate with subject name as N1A node FQDN.
Hope this clarifies the reason of self signed certificate.

  • LMS 4.2 bent or crooked Topology Map links

    Hello all,
I'm trying to include as much info as I can, so forgive the lengthy post. I have an ongoing issue with reoccurring bent or crooked Topology map links. Imagine two devices that are in the same region, even installed in the same data closet. The map link between device A may go off across the map, take a 90 degree turn, run a little bit, then take another 90 degree turn back to device B. The bent links are not between all devices and seems to reappear even after I right-click and delete the link(s). The bent links may even reappear between numerous different devices, even after I cleanly log out of my map and LMS. I have worked with at least two Cisco TAC support CSE's who have never seen this issue (scary), and have been unable to provide a solution except to delete my "Layer~2~View.xml" server profile file, but this is no guaranteed fix.
    Here is my LMS setup:
    > Windows Server 2008 SP1, with all Important updates
    > Cisco Prime LMS 4.2.3
    > Workstation is Win7 Enterprise, fully patched
    > Internet Explorer 9
    > Java SE 6 Update 38
This issue was also happening under LMS 4.2.2.  Based on another article I found on these forums, I have deleted and recreated all of my LMS databases to defaults, to no avail. I am also fighting another issue where my Topology maps are not saving, producing the "Unable to save map..." message in the lower-left map corner (I added my comments to an existing post about that annoying issue.)
See attached picture for an example.
Any suggestions or comments are welcome.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
May be is independed of the browser but if i started under IE it was unsuccessfull.
I cleared the java from my computer and opened the LMS by IE. The java was intalled but topology map did not started.

  • Software Updates Email Template

    Hi All
Not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this question, if not feel free to move it.
I'm in the process of using SCCM to take over the deployment of monthly updates to windows servers. As part of this migration i need to send out monthly emails to server owners detailing updates that are due to be deployed for the current month based on
the updates created by an automated deployment rule and date and time for the deployments.
Does anyone have any resources, templates or recommended reading on how to go about generating these monthly emails. I know there is going to be at least some manual entry but im a bit stumped as to where to start so any help is greatly appreciated. Im hoping
to include a list of updates to be deployed and a short description of the update on top of date and times and which servers are to be updates when based on collection membership.
I have also subscribed to microsofts monthly bulletin update emails but it appears that there are more critical and server updates than just the ones contained within the bulletin details such as other hotfixes without a bulletin ID.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I wrote a simple script to do this in our environment:
    Function Get-UpdatesSummary {
        [cmdletbinding()]
        Param(
            [parameter(mandatory=$true,ValueFromPipeline=$True)]
            [string[]]$UpdateGroupName

  • Reporting info to LMS?

    Hi,
Can someone tell me all about or point me to where I can get the info on how and what data gets "reported" to an LMS?
I don't see anywhere that I can pass a variable. I also what to know when the info gets set.  I am assuming it is all gathered and sent at the end of a session so that if the user changes his mind and unclicks and reclicks stuff, only the final answer is sent.  I
Is there detailed documentation somewhere on this?
    Thanks much!

What gets reported completely depends on what you select in the Quiz Preferences.
SCORM identifies specific things to track, i.e. 'lesson_location' to record the page where the lesson was exited, 'suspend_data' for any random information that needs to be tracked, 'score' for a quiz percentage (usually), 'status' for passed/failed or completed/incomplete, 'interaction' and 'objective' (in arrays) to record specific interaction/objective data....and so on.
So what you can store has to match with those pre-defined values. You can't just say, for example, UserName == "Jane Doe" and tell the LMS to store UserName...
'suspend_data' is mostly the only place you can store random data, but CP does not provide a way for you (that I know of) to put random information into that field.
I've not explored when data is sent in CP4, but in CP3 it seemed to be sent on a timed-interval, every 7 seconds more or less. In some situations, it may be sent every time a page is advanced (which is the proper way,  IMO), or it may be stored in internal JS variables until the very end...
Either way would be fine in the scenario you propose. Whether the data is sent after every page or all at the end, both would allow a user to go back and change their answers, and have those updated to the LMS....*if* you setup the quiz to allow users to change their answers....

  • Change hostname on nodes in STANDY RAC Cluster

    Hi,
I would like to know the required steps to modify and hostname configuration in Oracle RAC if I update the hostnames of the 2 nodes in the RAC
Im running Redhat EL 5 , Oraclle 11g
    Thanks in advance

I don't think you could change the hostname with CRS, without re-installing CRS.

  • Changing server's hostname

I have a need to change our Leopard server's hostname, and I was wondering if there is a preferred way to do this? When I first installed Leopard server, there was a reverse DNS error, and it screwed things up so badly that I had to reinstall the entire OS. I want to make sure that a similar problem doesn't happen when we update the hostname of the server.

Just found changeip(8). Hopefully it works well!
