Displays "Jump" When Moving Mouse

I have an issue that has popped up recently where there is an issue with the entire display screen "jumping" up a few pixels every time I cross the horizontal "equator" of the display. I also have a similar vertical "jump" when I move the mouse from one display to the second. Also, after making the "jumps", some characters in text heavy areas will "thicken up" (most notable the vertical strokes of b's and l's). When I first boot the machine, in the log-in screen, there are none of these symptoms.
Not sure what's going on. The PC-minded IT guys here at work blame it on the machine being "one of those Macs", so I'm not holding out much hope for help from them. They did talk to Apple support and they suggested running TechTool to see if there are any software issues. The results were negative, so it sounds like a software issue.
I worked fine from the time we installed it (around the end of October) until the last week or so. Not sure what to do next. Any suggestions?

BINGO!
That did the trick! I went to the "keyboard & mouse" system preference and unchecked the box for zooming to take care of future problems.
Thank you very much!

  • My display jumps when moving up and down

Hello, I have ThinkPad T23 and I just reinstaled windows xp on it. I found some drivers, but I'm not sure I found the graphic one, or maybe there is a different reason why it jumps like that (before the installation it worked well).
Can someone direct me to the graphic driver exactly, or give an other solution.
    Thanks in advance

    pupu, welcome to the forum,

  • Automatically display number when the mouse attach approach node for chart ?

    Hi all,
can automatically display number when the mouse attach approach node for chart ?
    For detail ,see attach file
    Thanks in advance !

Charts don't have cursors and they also don't have the "plot images" options, so your tools are limited.
Of course you can simulate a chart using a graph by keeping your own history and display it on a graph. Use cursor move events to trigger the calculation of the distances from the new cursor position to all points on the graph and pick the one with the shortest distance to the cursor. Now you can get the annotation tools to label the point, or get its x and y value and write the info using picture tools with the "plot images" property.

  • Grey trail when moving mouse cursor

Have I got a virus on my Mac when i get a grey trail when moving the mouse cursor? Please advise.

This is not malware of any kind. What it is is uncertain, but it sounds like a very serious low-level problem. I assume this gray trail is left indefinitely on your screen, unless a portion of the screen is redrawn? Try taking a screenshot by pressing command-shift-3, then open the screen shot file that appears on your desktop. Does the gray trail show up in the screenshot? If so, can you post the screenshot here? (Click the camera icon in the editor toolbar in a new post here and attach that screenshot file. Make sure there's no sensitive personal information showing in the screenshot.)

  • Whole window/dock moving when moving mouse?

Hey i have this kind of problem that when i move my mouse also the dock moves little bit at the same time and it's really annoying. So it's not moving a lot but just little bit and also the panel where is the clock etc is moving or maybe shaking is better word to discribe the problem. If i move mouse up and down the dock etc goes up and down little bit and when moving left to right it goes left to right.
What can i do to fix this problem?
    Thank you

Check universal access in system preferences and see if you have zoom activated. When the screen is zoomed even a tiny bit one of the options is that the screen moves with the pointer. You can use option⌘- to make it normal and option⌘= to zoom.

  • Does Adobe Reader have the plug-in to display the word definition when moving mouse over the word?

    Hi,
I would like to know if Adobe Reader has such plug-in that displays the word definition when the user moves the mouse over the word.
Basically I think it needs to
detect what word is presented under the cursor
look up the word in the dictionary or source file e.g.xml
pop up the definition of the word, which can be a translation or definition
It would be great if user can actually customize this dictionary file/source file.
Do you think there is such plug-in?
Many thanks for your help/advice here.
    Cheers

    Hi,
When I use Adobe Reader “look up” function, it takes me to dictionary.com. I am wondering if Adobe Reader allows me to customize this look up function, so I can use another website or my offline dictionary, instead of going to dictionary.com.
    Many thanks for your help/advice.

  • Individual Panels "Jump" when moving the mouse over

I am using AE CS2. When I move the mouse over individual panels, the panels "jump". They don't change to a new location, they just jump once in place as if they have been bumped. It is quite annoying. What causes this?
    Thanks.

Microsoft Intellipoint software is known to cause this issue.

  • ML: Screen stays black when moving mouse and screen protector kicks in

This is the second time that this happens to me.
    Setup:
    MBP 5.4
    2 monitors (extended)
    ML 10.8.2 updated to date
Screen saver kicks in after X minutes
Require password after Y seconds after sleep / screen saver
I have set my protector screen to kick in after 10 minutes of inactivity and to turn the monitor off after 30 minutes. Normally, that isn't a problem but today I just happen to move the mouse (trackpad) when the protector screen kicked in, at exactly the same moment.
The expected behaviour would be that it would go back immediately to my "normal" screen, but instead the screen was just black, I could only see the mouse moving from one side to another. Any key sequence didn't help either. Waiting 5 seconds and than moving the mouse / pressing keys didn't help either. I finally had to hard-reboot the machine. (Pressing power button until it did go out, than boot it as normally).
What I didn't test was to press alt+cmd+eject key to force sleep (and then wake it again), but either way it should have gone back to my desktop instead of showing just a black screen without it doing anything else.
I'll be happy to cooperate if you need more information regarding on reproducing this problem.
    Greetings.

excHi i have exact same problem i turn mine on i see power light hard drive light flashes one time i hear cdrom kick in no sound from speakers no picture so i am assuming no boot mine is toshiba satelite x200 so any help here would be great i have tested memory

  • Fatal error when moving mouse icon in Timeline

    Captivate v5.5
Has anyone had this or heard of this before ?
Whilst editing the actions of my slide in "Time Line" I moved the mouse icon beyond the actual time of the slide in error...working too quickly
As soon as I did this, my project froze and then a minute or so later I got a "Fatal Error" message - which I did not have time to read/capture - and Captivate closed down on me.
I have no way to support what happened, nor to confirm it was the actions described above, but cannt see what else it would have been.
Maybe someone out there can shed some light on this.
    Noel

    Lilybiri,
I agree that under normal circumstances, when you hit the end of the slide in the timeline the object gets a red triangle and if you push further to the right you drag the timeline along with the object.
Maybe what happened  this moring was triggered by something else (see FYI below) but as it happened at the exact same moment as the mouse object hit the end of the slide I assumed that was what caused the fatal error.
FYI...I have been suffereing from another series of "Fatal Errors" with this project where I get the message "Text Caption_xyz is either a resereved keyword or is already assigned...." ( http://forums.adobe.com/message/4234746#4234746 ) so that might have been the cause - but the error message went before I had a chance to read it / grab it.
I guess I will just have to carry on working my projects, with no faith nor trust in Captivate (as normal) and save, save and save again as I go.

  • Displays doomed when moved. help!

Good day from the land down undah,
newbie here. I have IBM T42 2373-PA9 and whenever i move my laptop (yes, even an inch) the displays gone. but the system is still running, i tried hooking up my LCD monitor to its VGA to test if it's the video card got the problem but its working fine. i dont think its the notebook lcd, because its working fine, just dont move or bump your laptop. but even you dont move it it just disappears but that's not until 4 hours of use?. i tried reinstalling the display driver and the active protection for the hard disk but that seems not working. whoever solves this problem is a legend and earns everyones respects. please help. cheers.

sorry misread your post, you are saying that your laptop LCD screen is giving you griefs.... so when you move it, it sometimes flicker on and off....if the VGA out on your laptop is fine, then your graphics chip loosening is not the problem... if you touch the LCD connector ribbons next to your LCD hinges do that affect the LCD??? or if you try to close LCD screen lid slowly or quickly do that affect your display... if could be just the ribbons connecting the LCD to the Mobo of your laptop that is the culprit, those thing wear out with frequent use, if that is the case then its a simple DIY job....
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-39298.html
it doesnt flicker, it just turns black.
i can tilt open close the lid hundred times and it will still be alright.
i can touch the ribbons with out any problem.
the only problem is when its moved or when i carry it.
    move = lcd turns black
    steady = ok.
move with external monitor = laptop display back, external monitor ok.
i dont know the problem mate, hope someone can help me.. thank you for your patience, appreciate it.

  • Windows 8.1 Charms not Showing when moving mouse cursor into corners (Hot Corners)

I'm running Windows 8.1 Update 1 and recently my charms bars no longer display if I move the mouse cursor into the corners of the screen. However, if I press the shortcuts e.g. Win-C the bars do show.
I've check under PC Settings > PC and devices > Corners and Edges and also Taskbar > properties > Navigation and in both places both of the options under 'Corner Navigation' are enabled.

    Hi,
Please re-register the Windows immersive control panel to check the result:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\ImmersiveControlPanel\AppxManifest.xml
Or you can set a registry to enable charm hint:
    Open registry, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell\
Under ImmersiveShell key, create a new key EdgeUI.
Now select newly created key "EdgeUI" and in right-side pane, create a new DWORD DisableCharmsHint and set its value to 0.
If all methods cannot work, try to use dism command to perform an online fix:
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

  • Color changes when moving mouse pointer

    Hi,
I have an issue that, when I move the mouse pointer over the controls of the video (when playing quicktime movies in full screen) that it goes darker and looks a lot better!
But as soon as I move the cursor away from the controls, the image becomes brighter, loses contrast and on the side is a green oder pink stripe.

I thought when I buy a mac it will go away... but apparently not... very disappointing!
I have googled the whole internet, but apparently I am the only one with this issue... or maybe not?
    Can anyone provide any help??

Okay guys, after waiting for two years, QuickTime X fixed this!

  • Buzzy sound when moving mouse...

    Hi folks..
Don't know what's going on here. I'm a mac newbie, so please bear with me!
Anyway, I'm using a Multiface with PCI-e card, and everytime I move my mouse, or open a finder window (basically anything that makes the screen do something) I get a buzzy crackly sound on my multiface outputs. Don't even need to be running Logic...
Just with all 8 analog outputs running through my Mackie, I get the buzzy sound with graphics movement. I'm going to try and move the Multiface PCI-e card away from my dual head graphics card, hopefully that will help...
    but...any suggestions?
    thanks
    Mac Pro Quad
    RME Multiface
    2 Gig Ram
    UAD-1 card

    Thanks!
I'll try that tomorrow...I have two 21" LCD screens with good cables. EVerything's grounded properly (ETA line conditioner fed by a Tripplite Online double-conversion UPS all fed through single circuit orange AC outlet).
But...I still wonder why the RME PCI-e card is the only one that gets affected? My MOTU 8pre is perfect, my digi 002r is perfect, even the Behringer ADA8000 works crystal clear.
Prolly 'cause the PCI-e card is actually IN the Mac...as opposed to being fed through Firewire...
