Dissapearing songs.

The other night I bought two CDs from the iTunes store on my iPod touch w/ wi-fi. The songs were on my iPod, and I even listened to it a few times. This morning I noticed one of the CDs disappeared and about 10 minutes ago I realized the 2nd CD disappeared after I synced my iPod with iTunes. Normally I wouldn't care if something like this would happen because the songs usually come from actual CDs or burnt CDs, but the fact that I spent 20 dollars on two CDs from iTunes and they disappeared w/o them emailing me a receipt for the purchases kind of makes me unhappy. [the money for the CDs was deducted from my account, but I don't have the music anymore]
If it helps any, it's a 2nd generation, and it's upgraded.

I'm having the same problems... Everytime I add a new CD onto my ipod touch it wipes out an old cd I had on there. I noticed it happened a couple times since I upgraded to 2.2 now I just noticed that 2 cd's I purchased on itunes through my ipod which aren't on my computer have now disappeared. I didn't mind it with the other cd's cause I have them on my computer and can easily re-load them but now that it's purchased songs that I'm loosing what the heck's up!?

Hey, when i deblockaded my ipod nano 5thgen, all the songs and vids' dissapeared but my memory is still filled as 'others'... How do i get my music back? (restoring doesn't work cuz the songs were from a laptop, but it crashed...) thx!!

Hey everyone, when my ipod( nano, 5th generation) was stucked, i deblockaded it, but then all the music and video's dissapeared.... And when i check thee info it says '6.4 GB others' and '567 MB free.... And don't know how this could happen but i really want all my music back!! And i cant put all the songs back because the laptop i used for this ipod crashed and it's still in the store to ffix it... So now i have a lapop that i borowod from the store but i only have 100 songs on that laptop ( manual mode, so i can put them on the ipod but i cant tpuch the others) and that means i would download 1200 songs, and that really takes a long time... And my memory is full, so i can't put new songs on it.... S, the question: is there a way i can get all my songs back?? And if that is impossible, how do i clear my memory, so it's free for new songs??

Well, shut my mouth! There was a similar question over to the right about a 6th generation nano repeating over and over again -- I read the answer to that one, followed the instructions, and holy crap, it's back to normal.
Is there a name for this when you end up replying to your own aggravating question? That's what I did. Now I can go out and listen. It's only 91 degrees. Heaven. Thanks, Apple.

Play count has dissapeared from some songs?

Basically, I've found that recently the play count from some songs on my itunes has completely dissapeared, even though itunes still shows the date that the song was last played. So in summary my itunes shows when I last played some songs but not how many times I've listened to it, surely they should be on at least 1.
Has anyone had this problem before? Does anybody know how to fix it?

I don't know what the deal is. I am still running iTunes 7.1 due to not being able to burn CDs in later versions.
Sometimes I see a "last played" date that is in the future. I kid you not.

It looks like it's no longer being done (whether permanent or only temporary I don't know), there have been a number of other posts about it no longer showing in various countries stores

Song dissapears from libray when double click it.

when i play a song in itunes libray it sometimes dissapears from the libray. Any ideas?

The smart playlist sees that the playcount is NOT zero, and gets rid of it. That's what "live updating" does. It updates the playlist in real life.
If you go click on your library, the song is still there....it just doesn't match the smart playlist rule anymore.

Evevy song i have is duplicated, i try to delete the old one, but if i do, the new one dissapears also, i saw at the explorer window and every song is just one file

My library is duplicated, i did what the support suggest but if i delete the old song the new one also dissapears, i reviewed the windows file and only appears one file, i try to find an answer but do not have yet any.

Ipod songs cutting out and volume bar dissapear

I have an ipod touch 3g and it has been fine until this morning when all of a sudden it cut out during a song as soon as i locked it. then the volume bar dissapeared and the song became muted, i now have to keep unplugging and re-plugging in my headphones in the headphone jack. i reset it without removing the data then it still was mucking about.
how can i fix this problem, it's under warranty but i want to try and sort it before i go get it repaired. by the way it's on iOS 4.0

I am having this same problem. I recently converted my iTunes library to a new Windows Vista PC. Song cuts out on iPod but not on iTunes. Apple store gave me a replacement unit fo the 30GB 5th generation and it still happens on the new unit. Also happens on my iPod Nano (new model).
Every post I see relating to thsi problem is "unanswered".

Songs dissapeared from My Music

So the sections Songs, Artist, etc, show nothing on my desktop app. I have to acces from my android app and make my windows spotify play from there because i still have all my songs on my phone. Its just in my PC that the songs dissapeared. Playlists are still there and i can play music and search without problems, its just my saved songs on Windows that are gone

Do you have a backup of your songs? if you don't, see if the song files are in that folder. If they are, import that folder into itunes. If that doesnt work, then i cant help you.

Hi, just started up my ipod today to find that certain songs/albums have dissapeared completely. In 1 album just 2 songs remain from about 15, and a couple of albums have just completely gone. I've tried syncing with itunes, no luck. If i try to re-download the albums, then it states that the albums are already downloaded, would I like to buy again? I don't particularly want to spend £20+ re-buying these songs, any ideas what to do?

My Iphone won't sync my CD audio files, after having them on my Iphone for years I updated the other day and they all dissapeared, all that's left is songs bought from Itunes.

I've had an Iphone 4 and I have been listening to hundreds of songs no problem for the past year and a half I've owned it. The other day I decided to sync my Iphone to my laptop to get two songs from a CD. After doing this process and approaching it like I usually would (without causing any problems) I checked my Iphone to see if the two songs had downloaded after the sync. I discovered that my Iphone had lost every audio file that was not bought from the Itunes store leaving me with a sliver of songs to listen to. I immediatly checked my laptop (a Windows device) to see if my music was still there, thankfully it's all on my laptop and the songs play without a problem. So I attempted to sync the songs to my iphone several times, but the CD songs would simply not sync (When syncing your Iphone it consists of 5 steps, the progress bar skips steps 3-4, those are the steps when your music syncs). I'm not an idiot, I checked the small details (checking all albums and songs I wanted and checking the 'entire music library' option) as well I checked the big details (making sure my phone and Itunes were up to date, changing the USB to Iphone wire with another just like it). After a couple of hours of tinkering with different ways to sync I was stumped so I decided to restore my Iphone to factory settings. After doing that and setting up my Iphone newly I still could not download those CD files from Itunes to my Iphone. I called apple support and they recommended that I uninstall Itunes and re-install it. Again no success, all my music is still on my laptop working fine, but I can't seem to sync my CD songs from itunes to my Iphone. If anybody has any info please help. -A college student who needs something to listen to everyday on the hour long bus

Amazing steps you've done so far! The great news is this is very unlikely an issue with your iPhone.
I've run into a similar issue lately as well. I narrowed it down to one song that was causing 30 songs not to sync. I removed the song from the sync list (unchecked it) and all 29 songs were able to sync.
You may be running into a similar issue. This may be a problem with this version of iTunes, an issue with one song or a group of songs; hard to know for sure. It's important to narrow down and isolate the cause. Most imporantly get that music back on there!
The way to narrow down the casue add just a few songs at a time (even 1, just to get that first sync finished). Manually syncing is what you'll need here.
Plug in your iPhone, on the Summary screen (shows a picture of your iPhone, the iOS version, Restore iPhone....; etc). Under the Options area at the bottom choose to Manually Manage Videos and Music then choose Apply in the lower right. The music that's on your iPhone now should be removed from your iPhone now. You're now able to sync music manually.
The link below explains how to drag the songs from the iTunes library on the computer on to your iPhone which will start the sync. Add just one song just to see if you can get 1 of those hundreds of songs on there. If you can, awesome! Keep adding until you find the song or group of songs that are causing this issue.

ITunes library mysteriously dissapeared (not the actual files where they are stored) and once I transfered songs back to iTunes, some purchased songs had been corrupted (missing tags

Last week, I purchased around 9-10 songs. The previous day, I had played songs from my iTunes library... everything working normal. The day after purchasing those 9-10 songs... I noticed that my entire songs in my library (and playlist) where gone, essentially being re-set like new. I updated my iTunes version, re-started my PC and still... nothing was showing up except those 9-10 songs. I did the next logical thing which was to check the actual music folder that stores the songs. They where all there. It did not make any sense as I had not done or noticed anything unsual while using iTunes before. Now, I want to mention that I use a DJ software (mixvibe) with the ION Discovery DJ that pulls tracks from iTunes. For the past couple of months they both have worked great. Fast forwarding to my issue, I went ahead and copied all the music back to iTunes. I spent a good hour making sure that everything worked and re-created my playlists. One thing that struck me as odd was that while checking everything... some songs that I had purchased recently and even a couple of months ago that I've used on my mixvibe software... had the track info deleted. The only information was the track name, ex. (01 - Bird One). For some reason, they were dumped into a "Unknown Artists" file. There was a good 20-25 songs that had this issue. The one thing that I noticed was that when I would highlight the song within the Uknown Artist folder... All of the information including cover art was showing up at the bottom of the folder (if you are familiar with Windows 7 you know what I'm talking about). How can it be that all of the actual information was still there yet not showing up in iTunes? I had to manually go one by one of those 20-25 songs and add all of the track info (as much as I could). I was also able to recover some of the cover art but not all. It seems like the files got corrupted. Can I re-download these tracks again or how can I get them to how they were originally? HELP!

I find the best way to do this is to right click on the song in iTunes and convert then select convert ID3 tags to V1.1 this usually completes the tag and adds all the missing info, provided it is in iTunes corectly.
Were these songs you Dled or ripped form a cd directly?

Ipod won't sync with itunes...songs dissapear after disconnect

Everytime I connect my ipod and add news songs that I've just imported. It goes fine and normally until I disconnect. After I check my ipod after I disconnect, none of the new songs are there.

I can see the ipod_controls folder. so its not hidden on my ipod.
you can see it it you have "view hidden files and folders" switched on in your view settings, so that's still normal.
so we'd better start working through the creepier/rarer possibilities when it comes to "synch goes apparently normally, but no songs appear".
at this point. I'm almost ready to restore my ipod. sigh
that's actually worth trying. i've seen one or two cases of things like this where the problem seemed to be a corrupt database file on the ipod. (so the song files were synching, but the ipod just didn't realise that they were onboard.) a restore might be able to fix that.

How do you manage your iPod? Do you Sync your entire music library, or only selected playlists?

All of my purchased ringtones and songs dissapeared out of the blue. How do I get them back without having to buy them all over again?

Out of the blue, all of my purchased ringtones and music aren't displayed anymore on my iPhone.
I went to iTunes to see if they were stored there, but the downloads folder also appears to be empty. If I try to select a ringtone I've downloaded before, a popup appears saying that I've already purchased that item and asking if I want to cancel or buy. If I click on buy, then I pay for the item again even if I already have it! The only place I can still see my purchased items is in the iTunes application on my computer, but even though I've already selected sync, the ringtones and songs still won't appear on my iPhone.
What happeneded and how can I get them back without having to pay for them all over again?

I'm having the same problem on an iphone 4s running iOS8; when i updated to iOS8, all my ringtones went missing, and when i got a £50 gift card for christmas (2014), I purchased some songs from the iTunes store on my iPhone. i downloaded songs from paramore, panic! at the disco, coldplay, and imagine dragons, over wi-fi, and they went into my iphone music library; but when i re-opened the music app a few days later, in a place where i had no wi-fi, except for my 3G phone signal, some cloud icons appeared next to my newly purchased songs, telling me to re-download them from the cloud, when i haven't even deleted them. this has happened twice now, and i had to use up some of my 5GB data allowance to redownload them from the cloud. This is annoying and i need to fix this issue ASAP.
