Dissappearing "footer" in pages document

I have a long document I am working on--about 250 pages. It is divided into sections. I am using the "left page and right page are different" function in each section, and not using the previous headers and footers--each are unique for each section. On page 85, right in the middle of a section, the footer suddenly dissappeares. I made no changes in layout in that section. Using inspector, I have verified that all the settings remain unchanged.
Any idea why the footer would randomly dissappear, and what I can do to restore it?

No, the footer will not reappear when I uncheck the "right/left page are different function." Thanks for the suggestion, though. Yes, I have added text on the right page earlier in the section, before the footer dissappeared.
I should have made it more plain that it is not just the footer content that has dissappeared. The footer space itself will not show up when I move the curser over where it should be. There is no way to add any text because there is nothing to click on to activate the footer function. It is as if the "footer" is not activated in the inspector, yet it is.
For further clarification, I have not copied and pasted any text from other applications, such as Word,text editor, etc. Whatever is happening is going on within pages, without contamination from other software.

I just began to use Pages after purchasing a new ibook. In AppleWorks, headers and footers were never inserted by default. In Pages, how can I remove the header and footer in Pages so I can have more space for the body section of the document?

I had already set page margins to zero, and I disagree with you: Headers and footers still appear with a height of approximately 1/8 inch.
SInce I posted my previous message, I have experimented a bit. I was able to (almost but not quite) totally eliminate the header and footer by clicking into the header and footer area and reducing the font size to the absolute minimum. After having done that, the body was basically in-line with 0" on the vertical page ruler.
Also, in my opinion, whether or not most printers do a full page bleed is irrelevant. I should be able to work with the page body without its being offset from the page ruler if I don't want to employ a header or footer.

How to I make all the pages in a Pages document into pages, not sections, to I can drag specific pages around and place them where I need them? When I try to drag a specific page, it drags an entire section.

How to I convert all the pages in a Pages document into simply pages, eliminating pages called "sections", so I can pick and chose specific pages to drag where I want (without dragging an entire section of pages)?

Insert a Section Break at the foot of each page
or:
Toolbar > Document > Document > uncheck Document Body
This will destroy any content in your document, but I presume that is what you want.

I think you might be opening your Pdf document in Adobe Reader. If you try open your pdf document in Adobe Standard and check again as far as your option are concerned you should be able to do that.

What you describe tends to indicate that you're using Reader, not Acrobat. If you do have Acrobat installed, make sure you're using it and not Reader.

How do I auto-update the date (in a footer) in Pages 5.2.2 ?

I have inserted the date into the footer of my document. I am running Pages 5.2.2 on Mavericks.
I would like the date to auto-update to today's date. I found a post from 2013 ( How to auto-update Time and Date?), but my version of pages doesn't work as described. The only choice is update to today's date as a button I can manually click, but there doesn't seem to be an auto-update check box anymore. Is there a new way to do it or has the feature been removed?

Click once in the Footer.
Menu > Insert > Date & Time.
Double click to select the Date & Time in the Footer and choose a Date & Time format
And there is also the Set to Today button.
Waiting several minutes (just enough time for a cup of coffee) and then clicking the Set to Today button, the time changes from 9:53 pm to 9:59 pm.
I can't wait until tomorrow to see if the date changes, but I think it will .
Another way (clunky) is to insert a single-cell table somewhere in your document and type =now and format to your liking.
As far as I know, Date & Time will update after you Save and then Open your document. Please call back after you test.

I do not beleive Pages for iOS allows insertion of images into the header or footer, just the background of the page body. It can however be placed behind the header. (Tools icon (wrench - upper right of screen) > Document set up

When trying to export a pages document to Word, I get an "unknown error occured" message. Can anyone help?

Can anyone help with my problem. I have one document that just can't seem to be exported to Word. It doesn't have any special formatting. A footer with page numbers is the only special thing. Anyone have any ideas? I've tested other docs, and they seem to export fine, just this one document. There is nothing special to this document either. i've imported the original from Word, modified it as pages, then tried to export it again. Nothing. i've also copied and pasted the whole doc into a new sheet, and tried to save it again as word, nothing again. I'm running out of things to do on this

It probably have something that is corrupt. Sometimes one has to try to export to another format (if it can be done) like .rtf and the open in Pages again. Or copy and paste to a textEdit document, save it and open it in Pages. Last resort is to recreate the document.

Using Print, can only print 1 A4 page out of multi-page document. Why?

Multi-page documents in Muse?

In Adobe Muse, do I have to hyperlink each page of a multi-page document, as with next and back buttons? I am ruling out scroll bars or pages connected to anchors as awkward for the end user. It would be good if I could simply paste into Muse multiple pages from InDesign, after these pages are saved as HTML, but I assume that doing so would only create a single long page. Comments/suggestions?
(I realize that alternatively, I could export everything from InDesign to Dreamweaver and do an ftp upload, but I am not skilled enough to program Dreamweaver with the kind of menu widgets which are a slam dunk in Muse. Otherwse, content which I have in InDesign is what I would like to display in Muse.)

Thank you. I appreciate the imput. But I must not have been clear. What if I want to place text from a 20 page Microsoft Word document into Muse? If I do not wish to use anchors or scroll bars, it would seem to me that I have to create upwards of 20 pp. in Muse, manually cut and paste from Muse page to Muse page until all 20 Word pp. are placed (after awkwardly deciding how much fits on each page without crowding a footer), and then manually hyperlink each of these Muse pages. Correct?
I realize that a horizontal menu widget will allow me to group, say, 20 pp. as subordinate to a single page, but clicking on the associated menu will only bring me to the first page of this group. From there I would need manually created hyperlinks to the second, third, fourth page, and so on, would I not? My 20 pp. represent a continous article, and I would not want 20 menus for it. Obviously, I can chunk the 20 pp. with subheadings, but I am simply trying to ask if it is a fact that I will need hyperlinks for content that spans more than one page. I speak of 20 pp. in this example, but for a site that hopefully will have hundreds of often changing pages, the prospect of manually entering next and back buttons is daunting. In fact, I am not sure if Muse, however good for single pp., is a good fit for my project.

How does one use the Japanese fonts in Font Book in a Pages document. Pages has its own fonts but I cannot get the Japanese fonts into it.

To type japanese on a computer you change the keyboard, not the font. Go to system prefs/keyboard/input sources and add Japanese/Kotoeri to the list, then select Hiragana in the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen, then type. The font will take care of itself.

Pages 2.0.2 doesn't open Pages documents from ipad

Pages 2.0.2 doesn't open Pages documents from ipad 2. Document succesfully transferred as Pages document to computer, but Pages 2.0,2 wouldn;t open it. Version too old?

Pages 2 is iWork '06, two versions behind what the iOS Pages creates. You need to use Pages '09 which you can purchase from the Mac App Store as a stand-alone application or a retail box of the iWork '09 suite.

Open Pages documents from an older version

I need to open Pages documents from an older version of Pages that I saved to an external drive from a computer that I no longer have access to. My current operating system is 10.7.5 and I can't upgrade it right now. I see that Pages 5.0 requires 10.10 or higher and I can't find older versions to download and from what I've read, it doesn't sound like I'd be able to open the old documents with the new version anyway. I really need these documents. What can I do?

I found it helpful to convert all my old Pages '08 files to .doc files. They can be opened by the new version of Pages.
Since the new version of Pages is no longer back compatible, and so not good for anything you want to keep for a long time, you might consider using an open source word processing application like Libra Office. That's what I had to do. After seven years of being a happy Pages user - archiving thousands of files in Pages -Apple has abandoned us. I no longer think it is wise to use the new Pages and then five years down the road (or sooner) not to be able to open them in a newer version.
