Dissolves imported from Premiere project not working in After Effects

When I import a Premiere project into After Effects all the dissolves turn into separate layers (black solids). There is no opacity information being imported for some reason.

What version of Premiere created the project you're importing?

Hi there,
I've improved my Sobel Edge Detection Filter a little bit and tried to use it in After Effects on some video material. But to no avail. It simply outputs a black frame. In Photoshop and Pixel Bender itself it works like a charm. But not in AE. Could somebody please tell me why?

Pixel Bender and After Effects act totally oddly. I really don't get it.
I have been trying the following lately:
define two parameters float3x3 to replace the constant matrices in the edgeX and edgeY functions by two dynamic ones. They are not editable in after effects but behave differently from the constantly defined matrices although they have the same values. With two (uneditable) parameters I can see some effect in AE that is different from the one in Pixel Bender IDE but at least there is something happening. I get completely white frames which I can turn into something visible by turning down the parameters Bias (to zero) and Factor (to something less than five or so). With constantly defined matrices inside the functions edgeX and edgeY nothing happens. The image simply stays black.
Where is the difference between a parameter float3x3 and a local variable float3x3 with absolutely and definitely the same values? And why does AE act differently from Pixel Bender IDE?
I also have been playing around with region reasoning functions needed and changed but I can't by the life of me get any results by altering them. Not even any negative results. They seemingly do nothing.

RAW import from Lumix FZ1000 not working in new Photo app for Mac

I am not able to import from my Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 the RAW pictures into the new Photo Mac app. They are even not shown when inserting the SD card into my MBP.
I am only able to get the JPEG ones.
FZ1000 RAW is supported according Apple and was working with previous app.
Any idea?

I am able to import them, but I cannot edit them as RAW files. They behave like .jpegs. So correcting exposure for example is a horrible experience. My 5D Mark II files behave as they did in Aperture, so it is the FZ1000 RAWs in particular that are problematic.

Import from android option not working

Import from Repository option not working - OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2

We are currently running on OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2. We would like to merge Two Repositories. Well, in addition to "Merge" option we have, we were trying *"Import from Repository"* option but in vain. It is showing the following error:
*[nQsError: 12033] A client tried to connect to a server that is not of the right type*
I understand this option is of low precedence from Oracle and its support. But, just want to know if anyone have used this option and encountered this error. If so, any workaround u wanna suggest. I appreciate any support.

Intel hd graphics 3000 not working in after effects cs5 and cs4

Hi I am running after effects cs5.5 and when importing 3d objects the programs keeps on crashing. in the preferences the graphics is not recognized. I also have Photoshop cs5 and it works fine in that and it recognized, both are 64bit. Does any one have any solutions.

Some image imports from Photoshop won't show in After Effects

I'm creating an app and I used Photoshop. Imported the psd file into After effects. But somehow all the images won't show, only text.
I'm trying to animate it so it looks like a normal scroll up and down from an iPhone. But all the images which are off screen won't show up once I drag it into screen but at the same time the text are all fine. What is wrong? I definitely imported the psd file correctly, since I did it with another project a couple days ago.
Please help. Due date is Monday.
The only thing what's differnt is. The images are all in a clipping mask in Photoshop. All the circles are white shapes and I put the images as clipping mask to that.
Once I scrolled it up I can't see the images.This is how it suppose to be

Did you try to make your Photoshop canvas larger? I'm pretty sure that would solve it.

Rendering from Premiere Pro Dynamic Link vs After Effects = fast vs slow?

So I'm doing graphics for a show using a fake 3D look in Adobe After Effects CC 2014.1. In segment 1 there are about 30 fonts that display for about 3-4 seconds each. Technically it's just a bunch of 2D layers of text, not a real tricky or intensive thing.
In my Premiere timeline, things render pretty quickly in the sequence. The show is composed of RED R3D 6K files, AJA KiPro quicktime files and some AVCHD stuff. Sequence timeline is 1080i29.97 for broadcast delivery. The sequence is rendering out to ProRes422 HQ. With no graphics, even the RED 6K files render out snappy. So I've brought these new graphics in as a Dynamic Link file. When I try to render out the graphics things get SUPER slow. Inordinately so. I don't get it. I thought the new "Render and Replace" would speed things up (great feature) however that seems to make things just as slow. So now I'm rendering out of After Effects the old fashioned way (each font is a 10 second file or so) with an alpha channel. I chose the 8-bit Cineform codec w/ alpha channel. Things rendered out, as expected, very quickly. A few minutes and all 42 fonts I built were done.
So what I don't get is why render and replace is so much slower than manually rendering straight out from After Effects CC 2014.1. Based on the time stamps from a "render and replace" process I did overnight - it took about 6 hours to render out a handful of graphics. I rendered out twice the amount straight from After Effects CC 2014.1 this morning in like 5-10 minutes. Isn't render & replace basically just rendering stuff out straight from After Effects (or AME) in the background and then just popping it in your timeline? If that's what is supposed to be happening, I don't understand the discrepancy in time. I'll bring the rendered out files into Premiere and see how quickly that video renders over the original video.
I just wanted to throw this out there to see if I'm missing some obvious thing or if this is as expected behavior.

CV Artsmart not working with After Effects CC 2014

I'm trying to do a simple Path Spread animation with CV Artsmart (Cineversity plugin) but when I open the animation in After Effect CC with Cineware the animation does not display, it works perfectly in Cinema 4d r15 ...is this a bug or known issue, is there a work around?

Not all plug-ins work with Cineware.
Also, make sure that you are targeting your installed edition of Cinema 4D R15, rather than the bundled Cinema 4D Lite, as described here:

Fractal Noise-Evolution not working in After Effects.

Pretty fresh to after effects. Following this tutorial until I notice that Evolution wasn't having an effect and I noticed the numbers were red. I assume it's a limitation of my computer in some way but I'm not sure what or how to resolve it.

We need more details. If you apply fractal noise to a layer and animate evolution then you should see a change. If you downloaded a sample project file then there may be an expression attached to evolution. That's the only way that the numbers would not be able to be changed. Select your layer with Fractal Noise applied and press the e key twice to reveal any expressions.

Import from Hard Drive Not Working?

I've just upgraded to iPhoto '11 and am, so far, not happy about it. Latest issue is with importing. It works fine for the iPhone and camera, but when I download photos from Shutterfly/Facebook and try the regular ways to import (using Import function, drag and drop onto iPhoto window, drag and drop onto iPhoto icon), nada. The total number of photos in my library does not change; can't find the photos anywhere. When dragging, I do get the green plus arrow, but no number of photos, which seems problematic. And of course, the Help menu is useless. Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Got the same issue since I upgraded. I use iTunes64, do you? I thought that turning on Genius was the issue but it is not. Today it got even worse... I exported the Library as I always do now because of this bug, and while Windows sees the export in the Recent Items, iTunes64 does not see the file, and looking through my drive I can no longer see it either. As if iTunes64 had not only wiped its own Library, but also crushed the one I exported!!!
Would love to know how to get rid of that one. I have five kids and manage music and iPods for the whole family!!! Need this Library badly!

LR Photo Import from Camera suddenly not working (5.7.1) - States "Some import operations were not imported becuase they could not be read." Works on another computer and 4.3 version of LR on same computer but not newly installed LR 5.7.1 cc 2014.

As above, all of a sudden, on one computer I cannot download from either the Canon 50D or 70D into LR 5.7.1. It will download on another computer as well as on this computer in an older version of LR (4.3). When I first turned on the computer this morning, I also got an error message that "The Lightroom catalog named 'Lightroom 5 Catalog" cannot be opened because another application already has it opened." It was a cold boot, so I am not sure what is happening.

For the second problem being that the catalog is open in another application, go to the folder containing your catalog. You will find a file with the .lock extension. This is a file created by the catalog, and is automatically deleted when the catalog closes normally. Sometimes it can get left behind. You need to delete that file.
When Lightroom says that the file cannot be read, it usually means that it cannot be written to the chosen destination. This tends to be a permissions problem in your operating system. Check to make sure you have write permission for the folder you are trying to import your images to.

Grading over a transition imported from Premiere Pro

Anyone out there have a simple, fast and relaible way to deal with grading over a cross dissolve imported from Premiere Pro?
How do you (can you) dissolve from one grading layer to another over the transiton clip? I have been having no luck at all with the dissolve feature in SpeedGrade.
If anyone from Adobe is out there listing, SpeedGrade needs a drag and drop cross dissolve effect / tool like Premiere.
Working on longer pieces with multiple cross dissolves - SpeedGrade almost becomes useless!
When can we expect a proper upgrade to SpeedGrade that will bring it in line with Premiere and After Effects?

Unless you turned on proofing, that would have no effect whatsoever.
It sounds like the root problem is that color managed applications are having problems displaying the color you expect - which means that you expect something unrealistic, or that your display profile doesn't match your actual display.

You haven't given us much to go on here. What exactly are you doing and what exactly happens when you try? Which specific version of each program are you using? (Go to Help>About...)
On a side note, a simple, brief thread title is all that's needed. Something like "After Effects Issue" would be fine. You don't need the full question there.

Firefox installed but not working even after importing settings from IE

I've just downloaded firefox and installed with settings imported from IE which is working very fine.but i couldn't get firefox worked.it keeps on saying 503 error,but IE and chrome are working excellent at the same time.i prefer firefox than those for addons.i terribly need it.help me where is it going wrong?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
