I would recommend using the built-in security feature of the analytic workspace. There is a command called PERMIT that can be applied to both dimensions and cubes and controls user access to dimension members.
There is a document on the OLAP home page that explains how to secure and AW using the permit command

  • Crystal Report Crosstab Page Number Issue

    Hi Gurus,
I am creating the crystal report which has variable column fields, so the number of pages are variable.
The issue is, When i place the page number on the footer, It display only at the end of the page saying '1 of 1', I read lot of forums regarding this issue but didn't get resolved yet.
My crosstab is in the report header, I even tried the dummy group and placed the cross tab in that group. In that case i am getting '1 of 1' in all the pages.
Can you guys please help me to resolve this issue
    Thanks
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
Try this Knowledge base article :  It works for all cr versions
    Symptom
In Crystal Reports (CR) 9, a cross-tab needs to have page numbers for its virtual pages in the format:
    "1", "1-1", "1-2", and so on.
How can the virtual pages of a cross-tab be numbered?
    Resolution
Virtual pages can be numbered by conditionally formatting the 'Display String' property of a Cross-Tab field.
Displaying Page Numbers in Cross-Tab Virtual Pages
    1. Right-click the top-left of a cross-tab and click 'Cross-Tab Expert'.
    2. In the 'Cross-Tab Expert' dialog box click the 'New Formula' button, then name the formula 'Page Number'.
    3. In the Formula Editor enter a blank space (" ") then click the 'Save' button. Close the 'Formula Editor' dialog box.
    4. In the 'Cross-Tab Expert' dialog box select this formula from the 'Available Fields' box and move it to the 'Columns' box. Use the 'Up' arrow for the 'Columns' box to move it to the top of this box.
    5. Click the 'OK' button to close the 'Cross-Tab Expert' dialog box.
    6. Right-click the 'Column #1 Name' field on the cross-tab and click 'Format Field'. The 'Format Editor' dialog box will appear.
    7. On the 'Common' tab click the 'X+2' button next to 'Display String'.
    8. Enter the following formula in the 'Format Formula Editor':
    global numbervar PageNum;
    PageNum:= PageNum + 1;
    if PageNum > 1 then "Page # " + totext(pagenumber,0) + "-" + totext(PageNum - 1,0)
    else "Page # " + totext(pagenumber,0)
    9. Click the 'Save and Close' button to close the 'Format Formula Editor' then click the 'OK' button to close the 'Format Editor' dialog box.
When previewing the report, the cross-tab will display "1" for the first page and then "1-1, 1-2" and so on, for the subsequent virtual pages. Navigating to page 2 will show "2" for the first virtual page followed by "2-1, 2-2" and so on.
    Background
'Virtual pages' are the pages on a cross-tab from left to right as opposed to the actual pages that are accessed through the 'Navigation' buttons.
When you create a cross-tab that is wider than the specified page size, CR automatically spans the printing across enough pages to accommodate the width of the cross-tab. In the Preview tab, a line will appear at each page break.

  • Unable to upload .pdf files to iCloud through Pages

Apple advertises that iPages allows you to share .pdf, .doc, .rtf files, but whenever I try to upload a .pdf file to Pages in iCloud I receive this message:
"**** Can't be uploaded because the file format isn't supported.  Supported formats include Pages '09, Word, and Text files."

The key distinction here is what Pages can do and what iCloud/iWork can do. Pages can share (export to) PDF, but iCloud/iWork currently only syncs iWork documents between your supported devices. If you want to share a PDF with someone, you'll have to export it from Pages and email it or put it on Dropbox (and share a link to the file), etc.

  • Create TOTAL at the top of the page

    Hi,
I would like to know if is there any chance to create total on crosstab page and put it on page items or at the top of the page.
The only way i know is that i can put it at the bottom, right or subtotal.
    Thank you in advance,
    Dani

    Hi Russ, Michael,
Before i posted here i tried Russ' idea but is not working on my case because my data points are set to detail and when i tried to create a calculation it gave me an error in which said that i cannot aggregate details data point.
So in this situation i came with another solution where i added a graph on viewer.
The only problem is that for example my Total Column is equal with 21.456.879 and the Graph show me only 21.46 M.
I tried to change the scale but it did not work.
Do you have any idea how i can deal with this issue ?!
    Many thanks,
    Dani

  • 'Welcome page' icons

I'm thinking I'm understanding the distinction between the "welcome page' and the 'course' templates. Whenever I create a new page using the template 'Welcome page', the icon is a smaller version of my main Welcome page banner. I dont' see anywhere to edit or upload another icon for these new pages. Due to the structure of our iTunesU site, we need all three levels, so we need the main Welcome page, a second level of 'welcome' pages, then the course pages. I can edit the icons for the course pages just fine.
I alos tried creating a new template based on the 'Welcome page' template, but that did not have the ability to add in a new icon either.
Is this a bug? or is this by design?
    Thanks all
    Dual 2GHz G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Nope, it did not affect the Welcome Page at all. It looks like each new page created from the 'welcome page' template has it's own independant icon. I suppose it originally had the Welcome banner attached to it becuase I created the new 'welcome' pages from the main 'Welcome Page' template
    <whew> confusing...
Perhaps it would be nice if the template wasn't called 'welcome page' as to avoid the confusion. In any case, you should be able to create a new template by copying the welcome page and giving it a new name (and presumably, a new default icon).
    Eric
Interesting ... does that then remove the ability to
have a banner on the welcome page? The idea is to
have a banner on the welcome page, but to have its
icon be the 300 x 300. I'll have to play with it.

  • DS 1.3 setSelectedPageIndex doesn´t release addressed page

    Hello,
In the main page of a pagebook I was defining a grid with several charts.
If I´m clicking on one of the Graphs (On select)  I´m jumping to another sub-page (i.e. PG_BK_VOL_MAIN.setSelectedPageIndex(3);)
showing the figures of the graph in a crosstab.
In this sub-page I created a button-Panel "Graphs" which is leading back (On Click) to the charts page where I was starting from.
    (i.e. PG_BK_VOL_MAIN.setSelectedPageIndex(0);)
In DS 1.2 this was working properly but in DS 1.3 it´s automatically jumping back to the crosstab page.
Once I selected a crosstab sub-page I cannot jump back to the graphs page.
Thus it´s impossible for me to use setSelectedPageIndex or setSelectedPageByName in DS 1.3 as it doesn´t release the addressed sub-page once selected.
I´m hoping anybody can help me here.
    Best regards
    Emanuel

    Hi,
One thing I detected first in my tests: if you would only use one or two graphs and crosstabs for testing this behavior wouldn´t appear or only come up after many attempts. This is probably because the cache will be filled and automatically executed after some while.
In my case I have 6 to 9 Graphs in one page and I want to "jump" to the respective crosstabs when cklicking on the graphs and then from the crosstab-page back to the graphs page.
In my "Multi-Graph" test-page with 6 graphs I don´t use filters as you proposed. (which would be necessary normally - but for testing I didn´t). There are only graphs with type "Column-Stacked" based on the same DataSource. In "On Select" I´m adressing the specific crosstab (i.e. "PAGEBOOK_1.setSelectedPageByName("PAGE_5" );"
When I´m executing this application I´m instantly getting this issue.
I did a next test with your proposal - and this was working !! :
In the graphs page I created 6 panels with "on Click" event using the same syntax like in "on Select" event of the graphs:  (i.e. "PAGEBOOK_1.setSelectedPageByName("PAGE_5" );"
Important here is to set the CSS style to transparent using "background-color: rgba(0,0,0,0);" otherwise it wouldn´t become sensible for clicking.
Thus "on Select" events of Graphs are behaving differently with cache than "on click" events.
Now I will enhance my application by using "on Click" events for panels instead of "on select events" for graphs as a workaround - which is not really nice and smart.
I would rather use "on Select" events for graphs - but as of now this is obviously not useable.
I´m really wondering why Design Studio developers are killing this simple and often used functionality.
Thanks again for your valuable tips.
    Kind regards
    Emanuel

  • Horizontal page numbering - Crosstabs -Crystal reports 2008

    Hi All,
We have Crosstab tab  in which columns grows horizontally and rows too grow vertically. It automatically page breaks when it reached the page layout width.
My requirement is to number the all the pages in Page N of M format.
But if we use the special field "PAGE N of M" it doesnot number the horizontal pages  (it can be only be repeated)
If we use the special field "Horizontal page number"- it number horizontal page number alones.
Is there any workaround to number the horizontal (virtual)pages also along with the normal pages.
We tried on various formulas by making use of no.of columns but nothing worked out.
It would be of great help if someone helps me out in a workaround for numbering all the pages(including the horizontal pages)
    Thanks in advance.

    Jamie,
I did try to implement your example to my existing report.
My current report will always have expanded horizontal pages for two different crosstabs from two different group footers.
When I attempted to add the {@ Page Header} field/formula to my crosstab Column, it automatically changed to a different database field from my database.
    Have you experienced this before?
Other then that, the pages seem to be getting counted correctly by the {@Page Number} formula.
Here is a screen shot of my current report.
I need my page numbering to be at the bottom center for all of my pages.

  • Grand Total on Count Distinct - Crosstab

    Hello
    I use Discoverer 9.0.2.39.01.
On a crosstab layout: the data point is a count distinct item ,
I use Grand total at bottom and also Grand total at right.
Both totals are displayed correct but the cell combining between them is blank.
The join between the two tables is one to one and I use NVL on the count distinct item. how can I overcome the problem and cuase th blank cell to display the result of both totals?

I'd just reiterate a couple of things to try.
    1. reverse the join - I realize you mentioned it seems to work for simple total, but this has to be one of the most popular errors
    2. check for NULLs in the data (ie: to_number(NVL(item, '0')), etc.
If still not working, then logically, what would be causing a count of distinct items not to display (ie: NULL would explain it as I would think the COUNT would screw up with not knowing how to handle a NULL).
By why count(item) would work and count_distinct(item) wouldn't is an interesting problem.

  • Header on each page in  a CrossTab Report

    Hi,
I created a cross tab report. The only place I can place it is the Report header. I have a heading that should be displayed on each page of the report, how can I do this.
Because the cross tab is in the Report Header I placed my heading in the Report Header only so it appears on the first page only. How can I make it appear on each page.
    Thanks,
    Reena

    Hi Reena,
Have you tried placing the Crostab in Report Footer? This way you can keep the heading in Page header and the Crosstab in Report footer so that the heading appers on each page. Rest all section which are not required can be suppressed.
Let us know if this helps.
    Cheers!

  • Export Crosstab to Excel : Header Columns repeated for each page !

    Post Author: maagik
    CA Forum: Exporting
    Hello,
I work with CR 10 and I want to export a crosstab to excel through the api included in VS2005. I choose an export standard. The excel file is right generated BUT in each page break, the header columns are repeated. I don't want to have the header colums because users made some post calculation in the generated files. Does anybody have an idea to remove it ?

    Hi Kranthi
You can try exporting your report to Excel Data only format as it retains the column width.
While exporting apply the options like Maintain Column Width etc (as per your requirement).
    Hope this helps!!

  • Supress Column headers in Crosstab on page 2+

I have a crosstab report that spans multiple pages.  We export it to Excel for analysis, and never (or very rarely) print it.  We have to delete the column headings on page 2+ once it is in Excel.  Is there some way to supress those headers so that they only print once (on page 1)?

    Jyothi Yepuri
I do not have a problem with the Row labels, but rather the column labels.  I have already unchecked the box you refer to.
    sjain & MisraP
Thanks for this idea.  I right-clicked on the column header field in the cross-tab, chose format, and conditionally suppressed the field.  This prevents the field (date in my case) from displaying, but it still prints an empty line when exporting to Excel, which is less than ideal.  I'm wondering if I can trick CR to think that my page is 500 inches tall.
    Carl Sopchak
I've used your idea on other reports, but unfortunately that works on the Page Header section of the report.  Since the cross-tab sits entirely in a Report/Page Header/Footer, this trick will not solve my particular problem.
Edit: I was able to customize the page size to be 23.62" tall, but the report still ends up as two pages tall.

  • Table on Page One Blocking Layout/Section Break & Distinct Headers/Footers

Is there any way to start a new Header/Footer on page 2, after a page one table that fills the page?
I've created my first page as a Table (entire page) in order to recreate the front page of my newsletter, as used by a previous editor. Works great, and has been the only way I've found to mimic the old front page. Problem is, I can't get the document to accept setting up a different header and footer for subsequent pages, and when I try to do so, I end up with a header on page 1 above my banner Headline. Yech.
I can't put a section break inside the Page 1 Table - Pages Won't allow (option is greyed out). I tried to put a layout break at the top of page 2, which is supposed to allow a new Header/Footer for subsequent pages, but when i insert the cursor on page 2 and attempt to create a distinct Header/Footer for the document after the layout break, there is a check mark, greyed out, in the Section part of the Layout Inspector, for the line: Use previous Headers and Footers. That is, it's locked and can't be unchecked.
If I do try to set up a header/footer field linked to the doc page after the layout break, it also creates the same layout and fields as for the first page.
Am I stuck here because I started out my doc with a table?
    G-5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Welcome to the forums, OwlRemembers.
You should be OK with using the table as you are. The problem is probably arising because you aren't inserting the section break into the default text box on the page. This may be because the cursor is being inserted into the header, or that the table is covering the entire default text box, and so clicking in the main part of the page selects a table cell.
There are two things I would suggest. The first is to use the Layout View (under View menu, choose Show Layout) -- this will ensure that you can see the default text box (the big box that covers most of the page. The second would be to click on the table you have created and, in the Wrap Inspector palette, choose "Fixed on page". Once this is done, you should be able to grab the table, move is slightly aside, insert a section break on the page, and move the table back.

  • Crosstab virtual page headers

I have a crosstab report that spans 3 pages for each row (page 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 etc.).  I have a page header that I would like to print on these 'virtual pages', but I have not been able to figure out how to get it to print on these pages.  It prints on page 2-1, 3-1, etc.
My crosstab is located in the Report footer.
    Any suggestions?

To be more precise, I am setting up a book of 250 pages or so. I would like the top headers to carry the book title on the even page and chapter titles on the odd pages. The chapter titles will chnage with each section. I have set up the master pages and the book title on the even page; this carries through the whole book. I am unclear how to change the odd page header with each section. the first section (title pages, contents etc) will have a blank heder.

  • Repeate Row Totals on every horizontal pages in Crosstab.

    Hi
I have a crosstab which grows multiple page horizontally.
I have Row totals that are displayed on the left of summary. I want to display this totals on every horizontal page.
Can anyone tell mw how to achieve this.
I am using Crystal Reports XI with SP as data source.

    Hi Narayan
Right Click on the Cross Tab->Cross-Tab Expert-> Customize Style tab.
Select the 'Horizontal' option under summarized Fields:
Select the 'Repeat Row Labels' option under 'Grid Options'
    Click 'OK'
However it is not possible to dispaly the row totals for the data dispalyed on that particular page.
Because the data is calulated for the entire cross-tab.
    Hope this helps you.
