Distmgr keeps processing package

Hi All,
We have SCCM 2012 R2 - CAS, few primary and lots of secondary sites.
Today I'm surprised to see that, distribution manager component on all sites keeps processing two different packages (created at two different primary sites) all the time.
Those packages successfully distributed to targeted DPs, i'm not so sure what went wrong meantime with other sites/DPs who not even in the target list but still processing package. Can someone please help me to understand what can caused this and
how to get rid out of this?
Thanks in Advance....

  • Hi there, I have a Macbook Pro and I have been using Libre Office but I am not happy with it. I need a good word processing package to produce a manuscript and don't know if I have to get Word for Mac and how to put my documents into it.

    Hi there and hello everybody.
I am writing a book and have been using Libre Office and would like a better word processing package.
I have heard that Pages 5 is better than the latest one. I need to be able to put my Libre Office documents
into Pages. Anyone know how to do this please?

    magathon wrote:
Thanks. So would you say Word is the best processing package? And how do I choose which package 'opens' them.
This is a basic computer skill you might want to learn. You can always control which application opens any document, and the steps below apply to any Mac or Windows computer you use:
Method 1: Drag the document icon on top of the application (Word, Pages, LibreOffice...) icon and release. The system will open the document in the application you dragged it to.
Method 2: Go into the application (Word, Pages, LibreOffice...) and choose File/Open. Locate and select the document, and click the Open or OK button.
Method 3: Select the document icon and choose File/Open With, then choose the application you want to open the document with.
The only time these don't work is when the application cannot open that type of document. For example, you usually can't make a photo editor open a text file. But Word, Pages, and LibreOffice all know how to open text files, RTF files, and Word files.
But if it is important that the document formatting is exactly preserved when exchanging with other Word users, you really should use Word. If you can't afford to pay the retail price for a copy, Microsoft now lets you use Office for $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year.

  • Distribution Manager failed to process package triggers an update of the packages

    Hi all,
    we have randomly following issue:
SCCM 2012 Sp1 CAS, takes a snapshot of a Windows update package in the morning (not sure how the frequency of this check is done). If for any reason it fails, SCCM automatically redistributes the package to all sites. This happened this morning again for 5
Windows updates packages. You understand that this means GB sent to all Secondary sites (66) with an useles amount of data sent out.
From the Status messages I see
    Information Milestone RC0 06.11.2014 07:12:11 SCHVSGGSC600.rccad.net SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER 2300 Distribution Manager is beginning to process package "SUP-2014.09" (package ID = RC00017B).
Then lot of updates lists with comment taking a snapshot and finally
Error Milestone RC0 06.11.2014 07:12:29 SCHVSGGSC600.rccad.net SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER 2302 Distribution Manager failed to process package "SUP-2014.09" (package ID = RC00017B).    Possible cause: Distribution manager does not have access to either the package source directory or the distribution point.  Solution: Verify that distribution manager can access the package source directory/distribution point.    Possible cause: The package source directory contains files with long file names and the total length of the path exceeds the maximum length supported by the operating system.  Solution: Reduce the number of folders defined for the package, shorten the filename, or consider bundling the files using a compression utility.    Possible cause: There is not enough disk space available on the site server computer or the distribution point.  Solution: Verify that there is enough free disk space available on the site server computer and on the distribution point.    Possible cause: The package source directory contains files that might be in use by an active process.  Solution: Close any processes that maybe using files in the source directory.  If this failure persists, create an alternate copy of the source directory and update the package source to point to it.
This triggers immediately an update of all DPs
Information Milestone RC0 06.11.2014 07:43:52 SCHVSGGSC600.rccad.net SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER 2304 Distribution Manager is retrying to distribute package "RC00017B".    Wait to see if the package is successfully distributed on the retry.
    Any idea
How this can be avoided, since nobody changed the package and we suppose it was a temp connection issue between the CAS and the package repository server
If this check can be set up to once a week for instance or even less?
    Thanks,
    Marco

Now as I mentioned it was probably an SQL (more likely) or networ issue, however the question was more about how to avoid that. Finally the packages were not changed and if possible I would avoid any automatic SCCM action on packages unless an operator manually
    triggers them.
I didn't see any error today, so it should not be a configuration issue.
    Is this possible?

  • 7.5SP07: Dimension keeps processing

    Hi,
One of the Z dimension keeps processing for more than 3 hrs. It has the huge amount of members. After 3 hrs or some time more it gets processed
Is there any thing we can be done to reduce the time for processing.
    Anurodh

    Hi,
It could be directly related to the number of members that you have in that dimension. Do you need to process this dimension often? Would it be possible to start processing this dimension at the end of your hours.....as it is anyway a back ground job in BW.
In EPM 10, they have come up with incremental master data processing. If it is directly related with your huge member list, then it is better to start processing this dimension just before you leave.
    Thanks,

  • Winword process keeps processing

    Dear,
The server is Win 2008 R2 with office 2010. The version of PeopleTools is 8.53.07 and then run the Winword procss. It keeps processing and can not change to be success.
Anyone has the same experience and please advise.
    Thanks in advance!

I would recommend logging into the process scheduler server as the service account configured to run the process scheduler.  Then try starting word and ensure it is working properly.  I ran into a recent problem with nVision failing and it was due to Excel taking 5 minutes to start.  For some reason there was 10's of thousands of documents that were discovered in recovery mode.  Once I flushed them out things went back to normal. Confirming word is working as the actual user running it would be the first step.

  • System Update keeps failing "Package did not download" and does not show all updates

I recently installed win8 64-bit on my X1 (1294-2PG) using a clean install formatting the hard drive. Now I want to use System Update to install right drivers. Two problems occur:
System Updates fails to show all the updates available for my PC in the website. Only 2-3 updates are shown.
System Updates repeatedly fails to download the chosen updates. It seems to download most of the file when the download suddenly halts and I get the message: "1 Package did not download" or 2 or 3 depending on the number of updates.
I have tried for several days multiple times a day and even uninstalling/reinstalling System Update. The errors keeps occurring.

sorry... i can't help with why TVSU isn't successful with this driver on your machine.
as a workaround, you may wish do download it from the X1 driver matrix:

  • How do you keep processes from starting up?

i have no HP software from on my computer and i still have HP's process starting up on my computer. i need to know how to keep a process from starting up. i know in windows you do MSCONFIG, does OS X have anything like that? thanks.

As the Hatter said, get EasyFind:
    http://www.devon-technologies.com/download/
It's free and a nifty little program. Spotlight is programmed to not search in most system folders so will not find many of the pieces of an app you want to de-install. EasyFind will look in those places so you can delete whatever else of the HP app is still around.

  • Remote workflowhow to keep sending packages back and forth multiple times?

I'm a designer and I've gotten one of my clients to purchase InCopy to make their own edits to a project. My question is what to tell my client about how to save the incp package on the second round... We've successfully gone through one round of edit, I've made changes, and I've sent the package back to her. But, now she's run into trouble with my changes not showing on her document. Can someone describe how she should be opening the second package? And she wants to keep an archive of the older files, of course. I think that's where the problem lies.
    thanks!

Actually I think he's (the OP) is encountering a more subtle problem.
After updating your ID file with the editor's changes (the returned .indp), you're saying you edit the ID file, save changes (updating the assignment as necessary), then select his assignment and package it again for InCopy, right?
When the editor opens the new .incp you send, InCopy unpackages it into an InCopy Assignments folder on his hard drive. On Windows the folder in in My Documents; on Macs it's in the user's Documents folder.
The InCopy Assignments folder contains subfolders, one for each .incp the editor has ever unpacked. Each subfolder carries the same name as *the assignment as shown in the Assignments panel* (not the same name as the .incp, and not the same name as the actual .inca file, which could be different).
If you didn't change the name of the assignment in InDesign (by clicking its name in the Assignments panel) when you packaged it up the second time, then when your editor unpacks it, InCopy sees that the unpacked folder already exists in his InCopy Assignments folder. So it opens *that* assignment. And so your editor doesn't see your changes.
    I think it's a bug.
The fix is for you as the designer to change the name of the Assignment in the Assignments panel before you re-package it. Do this each time you send out the same assignment as a package. You could just add "v2" or "v3" after the name if you want.
Note that this does not change the name of the actual .inca file. The new name is carried in one of the supporting xml files that are created when entries in the Assignments panel are renamed.
I've found that if you do this, when the editor receives the new .incp file and unpacks it, InCopy creates a *new* subfolder in the editor's InCopy Assignments folder, and the new folder has the same name as the renamed assignment. When the assignment opens in InCopy the editor will see your changes.
See if that helps or not.

  • How Long Do I Need to Keep A Package If I Upgrade?

My alma mater's college basketball team is playing a game tomorrow that is only being shown in my area (ironically in Philly, the area where the school is based) on the YES network.  To get the YES network would require ugrading 2 levels for FiOS TV at a monthly cost of $35, which is a lot of money.  My question is if I upgrade, I assume I can downgrade back to the original package, but how long would I have to keep the new package before I could downgrade?

You can in most circumstances downgrade after 24 hours once the new order/package kicks in.
You can do it online or call them to switch back. I've switched a few times during my contract. Only downfall with being under contract is they make you re-sign a contract each time you change packages and the contract gets renewed from that date.
If you arent under contract and want to remain that way then make sure they dont force you to sign one when upgrading or downgrading.

  • Keeping processing priority of Elements out of defaults

    Dear Experts,
Can I keep my own custom processing priority of elements which will obviously be out of defaults. Will it have any negative affect?
    Regards,
    Muhammad Noman Shafique

    Hi Muhammad,
You can have your own processing priority for the elements, as long as it is between the DEFAULT_HIGH_PRIORITY and DEFAULT_LOW_PRIORITY
    Consider an example -
Bonus for each employee is based on a % of Basic Salary.
So your Bonus element's priority should be greater than Basic salary. Say 2005 for Bonus and 2000 from Basic Salary.
If some other element's processing is based on Bonus, its priority should be greater than 2005 but less than the default High Priority.
System will still allow you to have the priority outside the HIGH/LOW values, but the balances would not be populated in the correct order for payroll processing.
If there is a requirement to use an element to circumvent the balance, then you can have the priority outside the High/Low values.
    Cheers,
    Vignesh

  • Distribution manager failed to process package - the source directory does not exist

    Hi,
    I have the following behaviour:
A Software Update Deployment Package is not distributing because of the following error:
I have found the following query (http://blogs.technet.com/b/ken_brumfield/archive/2013/01/10/troubleshooting-sccm-software-update-deployment-package-distribution-due-to-missing-directories.aspx) to
    determine which update is missing.
It is about update KB978601. If we search this update in the console, we see this:
The update is not required, not downloaded, not deployed and superseeded.
If we look into the members of the Update deployment package, we can't find this update.
When I was digging into the database, I found this:

    I found the "ContentProvisioned = 1 " a little bit strange.
    So, my question is:
Why SCCM is thinking of distributing the content although it is not downloaded or deployed and how can we fix this?
Has it something todo with the "ContentProvisioned" or is it something else?
    Thanks,
    Sem

I can tell you why CM wants to distribute it, but the easiest way would be downloading that patch thus adding it to the package (so that it can be distributed) and remove it afterwards.

  • Skype won't display my comments - keeps processing them, endlessly

I have Skype on several of my home computers, but I choose to work on the newest one (with the largest monitor) ... and recently, without provocation or updates, it has become unwilling to post my comments. They remain greyed out, and processing with the little wheel going round and round.
The thing is ... I've uninstalled and reinstalled it several times, including twice this morning ... and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm installing from the Skype site, so I trust there's no problem there ... but now, I'm out of ideas. What can be causing this?
I've proven that it will tirelessly work at processing my simple 8 word comment for literally days, without success - although there are screens of earlier conversations with this same contact, and all of my other computers are right up to date with our conversational input - as was this one, until recently. And now, although nothing else has changed, it seems to be stuck.
    Any ideas????

Thanks very much - it seems that this has done the trick. I'll know better next time I log in, but for now, I'm back up and running ... and will remember to check my status to make sure I'm actually 'online' ... that makes a lot of sense.

  • Aperture 3.0.2 keeps "processing"

after the updates my aperture works great, its responsive and quick. however every time i lunch aperture in the bottom it says, "Processing..." then i click on it to see the activity window. under activity it says updating library (with expandable arrow if i expand it: it says, "processing" then in the description it says "Processing the vr1" then under status list it says 0 of 11(doesn't do anything). activity window gives me option to pause task or cancel task. if i cancel the "processing..." goes away but status says canceling. i just don't want this all the time. i don't know what its doing, what is vr1? i can not afford to go back in time machine. please let me know. thank you.

i ve been in the same situation, but aperture infinite disk scratch help it to go down, the disk is dead now. As a good guy i ve got a vault, the one miss 30 Gig foto in a removed pict folder in the back up disk. Crazy i did not remove pict for Aperture. I have a new disk, restaure the vault, reimport the 30gig foto. repaire & rebuild the databse (takes 2 days on a mac mini with 210 Gigs bank).
Aperture 2 was my fav apple application,
Since Aperture 3, i just have fonction i used doesnt exist, color ball every time, nearly loose foto, and loose 30 gig tags, folder, correction, selection.
Thats things makes me switch to light room on a PC.
    i feel realy disapointed.

  • Breakdown of the install process / package editing.

Okay, I've searched and read the wiki, but I still haven't found what I am looking for, so hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction.
I am going off of memory as I had to reboot into another distro to ask this question as my Arch isn't functional yet. So if my details are a little off, I apologize.
I am looking to find an explanation of what each package under Base Base-Dev and Other is and how it should or can be edited.
After you select packages you have to review and edit if desired. What I want to know is what each package does and how it could be edited.
I read in the wiki that packages can be unselected if not needed, but I don't know which ones I need.
I am really new to Linux on this level, I have been using Kubuntu and outgrew it pretty quick. I want to run a distro like Arch, but I want to know how it works from the very start. I can see there is a steep learning curve and I think understanding each piece will help me in the end.
I would prefer to understand what the commands I enter are as opposed to just copying and pasting commands hoping that they work.
Can someone please point me in the direction of a good book or in depth tutorial that really explains what the packages are and how they can be edited?
Thanks in advance to all those who offer advice, it is much appreciated.
    -Michael

Hmm, it seems you are a little off on your terminology as I can't quite figure out what exactly you are asking. So here are some likely answers (and questions). Please ask more if you do not understand something or if I'm far off from the questions you are asking.
What are you using to select packages? Most people, I assume, would use pacman, a command line program. Its invocation is described in this finely crafted wiki article: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pacman . A brief description of popular options:
    * pacman -S <package.name> - install (Synchronize) a package or a group of packages
    * pacman -R <package.name> - Remove a package, but leave dependencies and certain special files (read ye olde wiki article linked above for options to remove those)
    * pacman -Qi <package.name> - get information about a package
    * pacman -Qg <group.name> - get the list of packages that are in a group
By edit packages do you mean modify them at the source or change how they are built? See the wiki page for ABS: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ABS . It lets you customize all your packages to your heart's content.
The best tutorial is the wiki. The best book is a printed version of the wiki (linked to by itsbrad212 above). If there is something specific in the wiki that you do not understand, feel free to ask for an explanation in this forum.
Edit: Hmm, ok, I think I understand your question now. You want to start your own distro. In that case, read Linux From Scratch as itsbrad212 suggested. It will give an in depth understanding of how a GNU/Linux system is setup. It is even better if you install an LFS system. What package managers such as pacman and its associated build system do is abstract away the harder parts and shift the labor over to the maintainers. What you probably would like to do is experience that work first hand. LFS would help you with that.
Not looking to start my own distro, that's a little too ambitious for me right now. I am familiar with pacman, and I wasn't referring to installing packages via pacman. I am looking to know more about the packages, or maybe they're called something else, that you choose when you first run the install of Arch. There is the base, base-dev, and then some others. I am referring to step D in the beginner's wiki: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg … t_Packages I was looking to get a better understanding of each option in this area. I would prefer not to have packages I don't need, but I really have no clue which of these are necessary and I would like to know what each one is. Also, I would like to have a better understanding of the options in section F of the same wiki section as above where you can configure the system's base files. Are the individual options available under base, base-dev, etc outlined and explained anywhere? There's a lot of them so googling each one individually would take days.
I checked out Linux from Scratch, looks like a good read and I'll pick it up, but I think it might be more information than I need right now, at least for what I am looking to learn here. I'm think LFS is going to be my summer project. Also, is there anything in the Arch Linux handbook that isn't in the wiki or is it the same information?
EDIT: I am assuming that the package options for base and base-dev are in the repo so is there a way to know which of these packages are part of the base package and base-dev packages by searching in the repos? I tried a few basic searches, but still haven't managed to find just the base and base-dev options.
