Distorted photos when synced to Ipod touch through I tunes

Does anyone have an answer for this? I tunes synced perfectly with my nano, and now I have purchased an Ipod Touch and it only syncs some of the pics and says some pics and oo1.jpeg could not be supported. I also have windows vista as my op sys

Just to let you all know, I was not on a mac, I am using windows vista, and figured out my own dilemma. You have to make the pics bit maps first and save them to a special bitmap folder and then they transfer beautifully.

When syncing my iPod Touch, the "Other" category shows it's taking up a large amount of storage space on the device.  What is in the "Other" category, and how do I control what goes into it?

Restore from a backup will get you some 'other' back.

  • Distorted photos when syncing to Vista OS

I'm trying to sync my ipod touch with my jpeg photos on a PC with Vista OS. The photos show up on the ipod, although most are distorted with color streaks going across, different colors, etc.
I've spent a bunch of time trying to fix, and have seen this question numerous times without a solution. In fact, many people have posted answers saying cannot be done - Itunes and Vista incompatible.
The attached article would seem the natural fix, but doesn't help:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306525
I cannot see "readyboost" in Vista since the ipod doesn't show up as an external drive. I'm not sure if that's the actual problem anyway.
It seems like this is indeed a compatibility issue with Vista and Itunes/ipod, i suspect the photos becoming distorted when the photo optimization is taking place, specific to whatever process Vista using via the harddrive (or readyboost)
The reason I believe this to be the case is I can create a simple work around by taking the photos on the PC and burning to a CD. Then I can point itunes to the CD to sync, and the photos are transferred perfectly to the ipod.
This is less than optimal since it takes additional steps that shouldn't be necessary, as well as limits the number of photos that can be synced to the size or a CD or DVD. I guess one can purchase an external hard drive to keep photos and sync, although also not optimal.
Seems like this should be something that the apple engineers would have figured out - I'd imagine a problem with most Vista computers. The apple support people haven't been able to figure it out - I'd imagine there's someone out there who can help.
Does anyone have a step-by-step solution to solve?

So no one has any solutions?
I've actually spoken with a number of people with the exact problem, including my brother who has the iphone and vista photo sync issues (the rainbow disorted colors.)
It's surprising Apple couldn't get their software working properly with the most current OS from Microsoft. Or maybe it isn't - I guess it's a bit harder to design software to work when you're not doing it in a closed system environment.

  • How do I turn off the Safari syncing function when syncing my iPod Touch to iTunes

I can't seem to find a way to continue to sync my iPod Touch to my Mac without it automatically syncing over the iPod's Safari bookmarks to my Safari on the computer. I want to keep this bookmarks separate but every time it still wants to sync the Safari data on the iPod to the Safari data on the Mac. Thanks!

  • Photos not syncing with iPod touch

I've been having a weird problem when syncing photos with both 2G, 3G and 4G iPod touches for the last 8 months or so.
Photos that that were taken in a portrait (vertical) orientation using my Canon camera (and synced with iPhoto - currently at v. 8.1.4) are being synced with my iPod touches without any problems BUT photos taken in the landscape (horizontal) orientation are not being transferred to the any of my iPod touches.
It worked fine for years but all of a sudden, the problem appeared. When I sync in iTunes I get an error saying that 'Photo named xx could not be transferred' (or something like that). The message appears for one photo but the problem affects an increasing number of photos (any photo taken since the problem started).
If I edit the landscape photos in iPhoto and change something about these photos (e.g., crop them) then they sync no problem.
The photos taken (and stored in iPhoto) before this problem started are still being synced with my iPods without any problems.
Is this a glitch with the Canon camera which is somehow corrupting the photo's meta data? Or is it a problem with iPhoto or iTunes?
    Any insight/assistance is greatly appreciated!

I have a similar problem with my iPod touch (I think 4th gen, it's software 4.1 anyway)
Sometimes when I sync it comes up with a window saying "no photos were copied to your iPod because there is not enough free space" even though there clearly is. The bar at the foot of the window also indicates that there are photos on there as well. To get round this bug I have to delete some music files and re-sync.

  • Windows 7 64-bit Device Timeout when syncing to Ipod Touch

When I plug my ipod touch into my Windows 7 64 bit system it begins to sync, gets to about 40 songs worth, then times out. This happens pretty much every time. I've tried multiple USB ports and have reinstalled itunes with no change. All was working fine when I was vista 64 bit.
Not sure what else to do...

In case anyone wants to know ... this is solved. If you have Win 7 + certain nvidia chipsets there is a USB bug. MS is aware of it and has a hotfix.

This fixed my problem, thank goodness. If it hasn't been posted here I hope it helps. If it has, sorry I missed it

  • ITunes 8.2.1 - Music missing when syncing to iPod Touch

Using a PowerMac G5 Tower with 10.5.7 and iPod Touch 2nd Gen with latest software. I upgraded to 8.2 awhile back and it worked fine. After upgrading to iTunes 8.2.1 my iPod will sync audiobooks, podcasts, etc. but not my music. iTunes will start the sync, but after a few seconds it stops and says the sync is completed. On the iPod Touch, I see everything (audiobooks, etc) but the music files are missing. Most of the music is ripped from CDs but a few songs are also from the iTunes store. Apple's zeal to prevent the Pre from downloading music from ITunes may have resulted in them stopping other music too.
I plan to try these fixes in this order:
    1. replace my iTunes Library file with a backup file from before I did the update.
    2. roll back to 8.2
Has anyone else rolled back to 8.2? What's the procedure? I don't want to re-import thousands of music files if I don't have to. Do I simply replace the app and the prefs files or do I need to delete other files?

Neither method worked. Replacing the music library and rolling back to 8.2 (after deleting four iTunes-related plist files) resulted in the same problem - everything syncs but my Music. I also reset the iPod Touch but that didn't make a difference.
The interim solution I found is to add Music to my iPod manually. I set my iTunes iPod Preferences to manually update the iPod and drag and drop away. A pain, but at least I can use the iPod until I figure out how to get Music to automatically sync again.

  • I don't see an Apps tab in iTunes, when syncing my iPod touch (first generation).

Hi. On my Ipod touch (Running Version 1.1.5) The Apps tab does not show up on the ipod. The ItuneU tab is new and does exist but there is no apps tab. What do I need to do to get the apps tab to show up?
I am running Windows 7 and the most up to date itunes.

You have a 1G iPod. You need at least iOS 2.0 to get apps. The last update for the 1G is 3.1.3 that you get here:

    Hi,
Try the general tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2830.
The article will walk you through testing in another user account but you can also try isolating the issue by testing with an alternate iTunes library, as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589.

  • For some reason, iOS 7 has decided to download on my iPod Touch through WiFi. I didn't request it, nothing is set to automatically update in the Touch settings, or iTunes. It seemed to start downloading when I  synced the Touch. I've disconnected the Touc

For some reason, iOS 6 has decided to download on my iPod Touch through WiFi. I didn't request it, nothing is set to automatically update in the Touch settings, or iTunes. It seemed to start downloading when I  synced the Touch. I've disconnected the Touch from WiFi temporarily. How can I cancel the download, or will there be an option when it's done downloading to cancel the install?
    Thanks for any help...

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore.  When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them.  What program did you use to import them?  Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all.  You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

  • Photos won't sync to iPod Touch

I have an iPod Touch 8GB with iOS version 4.2.1 and I'm having an issue with syncing photos. I try to sync a folder of pictures and the statue bar area where iTunes tells you what its doing, it goes through syncing, backing up, and says optimizing pictures, and goes through them quick but then give me this error:
Some of your photos, including photo "XXXXXX.jpg". Were not copied to iPod "iPod Name" Because they cannot be display on the Ipod.
    What should I do?

The following document is a good place to start with that one:

My itunes wont sync my ipod touch, when i click sync it says that it is syncing but it wont sync, im sorry but i just cant exacly explain it

It sounds like you need to set it up, and that makes sense because you said that its a new iPod. Just go through the steps of setting up a new iPod and you should be good.
