Distorted Photos

I am trying to sync photos to my Ipod but seem to get a distorted photo each time. Does anybody have this problem?
If so, what could I do to correct it?
I know that I may have a problem with my hard drive and want to know if anybody knows if there is a way to bypass that?
Thanks

I am having the same problem. My pictures - the one that did load - has lines through it. I'm also getting a message saying they can't be displayed on my Nano. I took it back to the store and they exchanged it for me because they didn't know why the photos were distorted. He didn't think it had anything to do with the ipod but they said to go ahead and exchange. He thinks it's something with itunes. This ipod isn' working either, so I'm looking for answers, also.
Thanks

  • How to get Display to not "stretch" and therefore distort photos

My wife has 20" Cinema Display hooked up to an IBM Thinkpad running Windows XP. Because the Display is "stretched" (extra wide), it distorts photos, making everything appear wider than it really is.
Is there any way to get the display to not be stretched? This can be done on my Macbook in System Preferences, but the display settings in the PC do not have that option.

You need to update the drivers on the Thinkpad to a version that supports widescreen resolutions. If you post the exact model of Thinkpad, someone will be able to point you in the right direction.

  • Distorted photos when syncing to Vista OS

I'm trying to sync my ipod touch with my jpeg photos on a PC with Vista OS. The photos show up on the ipod, although most are distorted with color streaks going across, different colors, etc.
I've spent a bunch of time trying to fix, and have seen this question numerous times without a solution. In fact, many people have posted answers saying cannot be done - Itunes and Vista incompatible.
The attached article would seem the natural fix, but doesn't help:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306525
I cannot see "readyboost" in Vista since the ipod doesn't show up as an external drive. I'm not sure if that's the actual problem anyway.
It seems like this is indeed a compatibility issue with Vista and Itunes/ipod, i suspect the photos becoming distorted when the photo optimization is taking place, specific to whatever process Vista using via the harddrive (or readyboost)
The reason I believe this to be the case is I can create a simple work around by taking the photos on the PC and burning to a CD. Then I can point itunes to the CD to sync, and the photos are transferred perfectly to the ipod.
This is less than optimal since it takes additional steps that shouldn't be necessary, as well as limits the number of photos that can be synced to the size or a CD or DVD. I guess one can purchase an external hard drive to keep photos and sync, although also not optimal.
Seems like this should be something that the apple engineers would have figured out - I'd imagine a problem with most Vista computers. The apple support people haven't been able to figure it out - I'd imagine there's someone out there who can help.
Does anyone have a step-by-step solution to solve?

So no one has any solutions?
I've actually spoken with a number of people with the exact problem, including my brother who has the iphone and vista photo sync issues (the rainbow disorted colors.)
It's surprising Apple couldn't get their software working properly with the most current OS from Microsoft. Or maybe it isn't - I guess it's a bit harder to design software to work when you're not doing it in a closed system environment.

  • Distorting photos when uploaded

In iPhoto, I use an external editor (Pixelmator) to edit my photos. When I crop photos and then save the original document it goes into iPhoto. But then, when I upload, and I've tried with Facebook + Flickr, it is completely stretched / distorted. I think that it is the same dimensions as the uncropped photo but the cropped photo is being shown all stretched. It doesn't do it if I upload the same file through the Facebook website.
How can I stop this from happening?
    Thanks in advance,
    Josh

Have you tried using Pixelmator as the external editor from inside iPhoto?  The following explais how (Note:  you would use Pixelmator just like you would PS or PSE as far as how you save the edited version, i.e. with the same extension/format and file name):
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • Text distort, photo duplicate?

Just got my new iweb saw the "what you see is what you get" and thought great!
BUT when I preview my web layout the text boxes give distorted (smaller) texts using ariel font in a standard size. Also, I have dragged and dropped in 5 photos, but in the preview I see only 4, and one of them several times taking the place of other photos that have been somehow overridden... What is going on, can someone help me?
Can I include screen shots here to illustare this craziness?
I should see the answer, but I can´t! Grateful for any help.

You're seeing the problem when you publish to a folder, right? You can turn the problem text box into an image file so that it will look like you see it in iWeb. Select the text box, go to the Font pane and click on the drop shadow button. Then move the far right slider(opacity) all the way to the left. That will make the drop shadow invisible but will turn the text box into an image file so there's not rendering problem between different browsers.
Make sure the picture that's not showing is in front of all other items on the page. Are all of the pictures jpgs? If you can publish your site to your host and then give the URL we can look at the Activity window for the page in question and get information from that.

  • Distorted Photo's on 30GB iPod video.

    Hi,
I have put some photos on my ipod, i am using iTunes to sync them, the problem i am having is some of my phots are distorted, some dont even show up. Some are fine though
Out of 40 files only 15 show up on the iPod.
Out of 15 files only 3 arent distorted.
    Thanks.

Wow, how good is Apple support.
BTW my girlfriend is having the exact same problem on her 4GB iPod Nano.

  • Distorted photos after syncing using windows vista

i've been trying to correct a issue that i have, everytime i sync a photo from my pictures folder, it comes out all distorted on my iphone. i even try syncing photos taken from my iphone folder to the iphone again anf it comes out distorted. ive called apple nd they said the have no idea what is causing that. any answers would help....... i was reading on readyboost, possibly it might work if i purchase it, but i dont want to waste my money if i have no guarantee that it will solve my problem.........

/// i actually solved my issue with having distored photos. windows vista uses a different type of driver other than FAT32 which is used on older windows, apple does not properly support that type of driver. so i did some research on readyboost, it enhances your memory which would probally fix the issue but quite expensive. so i transfered all my pictures from my c:/ hardrive to an external SD card.. i synced form the memory card and it fixed my issue. ///
I've had problems with importing pics from vista to my iphone since day 1. Distorted pics...missing pics...and pics not syncing at all. So I saved all my pics on a memory stick as per dude above and it all synced perfectly. Now why did this work? i have no clue but thank you very much bud.

  • Distorted Photos/Stills upon Export

Trying to export a project with several stills. Looks great on the computer but when export the still photo's tend to "over pixalate" thus appear distorted on final project. I've jacked around with the settings on the TV to ensure I'm viewing correctly and still get the same. Any ideas how to change the export/share that will alleviate this nightmare.....
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for any help.
Running a G4 (Tiger 10.4.3) with Imovie 4.01 - Pulling the Photos from Iphoto with no cropping or adjustments prior. If I use IDVD for a slide show there is no distortion so I believe it has something to do with the rendering during the "share" portion of Imovie.
I've not used PAL for fear that the disk would not be readible in DVD players manufactured for the US market - I've also read that buying some addtional software:
    http://lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
But since I currently have a handfull of movies that are ready for export I was hoping to avoid going back in and reediting the still portions.

  • How do I fix distorted photos in catalog?

I went into PSE8 Editor and clicked Edit, Preferences, Editing and inadvertantly set settings to default. Now the photos are "stretched" vertically.  How can I fix this?
    Thanks,   Don

I think, there is something wrong with the preferences. Delete editor preferences (it won't affect the organizer preferences) launching welcome screen and then hold down ctrl+Alt+shift keys and click on Editor button. It will show you a dialog to delete preferences, select to delete and then launch editor.
    See if it works.

  • Lightroom is distorting photos

I am trying to uplaod photos from my memory card, via a USB. When doing so, many of the photos are appearing disorted, with bands of colors masking the entire photo. I don't know why this is happening. Did anyone else experience such an issue? How do you fix it?

One possible reason why iPhoto shows an undistorted photo is that iPhoto is reading an embedded JPG preview (which would be different than what Lightroom is showing)
If two card readers are producing the same result then it is not the card reader. You still need to investigate other possible hardware sources of corruption, including USB port (if used), hard disk and camera card. If the photo is corrupted on the camera card, then there is no way to retrieve the original photo in an uncorrupted state (and you should probably stop using that camera card).

  • Distorted photos when synced to Ipod touch through I tunes

Does anyone have an answer for this? I tunes synced perfectly with my nano, and now I have purchased an Ipod Touch and it only syncs some of the pics and says some pics and oo1.jpeg could not be supported. I also have windows vista as my op sys

Just to let you all know, I was not on a mac, I am using windows vista, and figured out my own dilemma. You have to make the pics bit maps first and save them to a special bitmap folder and then they transfer beautifully.

  • Renewal: distorted employee photos

    Hi,
I have to finish a task for my former colleague who left our company .
We display photos of our employees. The photos don't look like the origin photos - they are distorted.
Have a look at this (distorted photo):
    This is the origin photo:
Maybe width/heigh are fixed by any pix somewhere. Is there a way to change default values? Maybe in customizing or anywhere else?

  • Iphoto and MobileMe - duplicate pictures, distorted...

I posted this originally under MobileMe and have received no answers at all and it's more an iPhoto 11 issue I think.....
I'm having trouble with iPhoto and my MobileMe gallery. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I upload photos to the MobileMe gallery from iPhoto 11. I just click on that share button in left corner. That goes fine.
But when I to go my mobileme gallery there are duplicates and some of the duplicates are distorted (and when you open them they are sideways). It has something to do with the feature that automatically uploads to my MobileMe. Even when I'm not clicking on the "share" button when I open iPhoto I can see on the left side where is says "library" then "Albums" below that is "web" and it gets that little sort of sync symbol each time I open iPhoto.
Once I close iPhoto, I go to MobileMe gallery and delete the duplicates and distorted photos and all is fine..... until I open iPhoto again then that sync symbol happens and it uploads the photos in that folder under "Web" (which is called Susan) and then I have the doubles and some distorted photos. Oddly when I look in the folder in iPhoto called "susan" under "web" in iphoto there are no duplicates or distorted photos. And it doesn't make duplicates of all of the photos in that "susan" folder under "web" in iphoto, just a few of them.
Take a look at the gallery: http://gallery.me.com/pixiegirl#100025 The problem is in the "pixie, family, friends" album.
In the top row, ""Cay and Ms Pix" is a duplicate and distorted. And the "Chris" pix is a duplicate. How do I make it so it stops update with the distorted pix every time I open iPhoto. And why since in iPhoto none of the pix are distorted or sideways are they distorted in MobileMe? If I delete the folder in iPhoto under "web" will it also delete the photos in MobileMe.
I'd just like to understand what the heck is going on here.
Very confused. Thanks for any ideas.
    Susan

The rotated pictures usually occur with portrait photos that come from cameras with the auto rotate feature. I've not see landscape photos do that.
Export those two from the top row to the desktop as full size, max quality jpegs and open them in in Safari. Safari does not read the tag which tells applications how to display the photo. If the photos are OK in Safari then you can import them into iPhoto and use them to replace the original two.
As for the duplicates, I don't know. Here are some fixes you can try:
Backup the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1, #2 and #6.
Then launch iPhoto and republish the gallery.
I noticed that may of the photos are of low resolution when enlarged. Are you aware of that?

  • IPad 4th gen extremely grainy photos and videos

I just got my new iPad and I like it but I am getting extremely grainy and distorted photos and videos from both cameras even in decent lighting. Is anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?

You can use software to reduce the "noise"

  • Distorted music

When ever I sync my 8gb Apple iPhone with iTunes, half the songs that are synced are somehow ditorted. Example. One of my favorite songs that I listen to on iTunes plays fine then when I go to listen to the some song on my iPhone it cuts off about a minute of the end. I have to use the little scroll at the top to pass that point just so I can listen to the end. Other songs skip like a CD player would. Yes I running on Window Vista and I expected fixable problems to occur, but I don't know if I should blame this problem on the computer or the iPhone. How do I fix this? (Also, whenever photos are synced, part of the image on most of the pictures have a wierd color effect to them. Yet another distortion.)

    computernerd2442,
This article may help out with the distorted photos syncing over:
