Hello,
i have a Toshiba Satelitte L850-13Q from December 2012, last month i send the laptop because the GPU maked problems, they changed my Motherboard.
Some weeks worked perfectly, but now i have some problems like before, i recorder sometimes when this it's happening and i upload on youtube, look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiMC5QQzoSs&feature=youtu.be

I saw your short movie and must say GPU is acting crazy. Sorry but I think you must contact service again and ask for help. They must help you with this.
What you can try is to connect your notebook to external monitor, switch to external device only and make the same test, just to see if the same happen again. I presume the result will be the same and it is definitely GPU related issue.

Did you mean the right indicator?
There are three LEDs in the front of the notebook.
The last one (the first from right) is an WLan indicator.
If this is ON, then the WLan should be enabled.
The notebooks WLan supports the 802.11 b, g and n standard.
Is your WLan router configured for b/g or n?
I think you should additionally try to configure the WLan again.
Go to control panel -> Network & Sharing center
On the left choose Manager wireless networks
Now press Add and configure the new WLan.
Ensure that you typed right SSID (wlan name), encryption and encryption password

Satellite L850-13Q cannot write DVDs

Hello!
I recently tried to write several DVDs without success. It is a problem that occurred several days ago, out of the blue, since a long time has passed since I last wrote a DVD. I tried several DVD brands, so the DVDs are not the problem. I also used several DVD writing programs (Ashampoo, Nero, ImgBurn), none of them worked. I do not receive any errors during the writing process, in fact, everything runs as it's supposed to. What is more, the disc surface is visibly written.
But when I insert the DVD, Windows sees it as a blank DVD. I am using Windows 8 (the writing used to work just fine before, also under Windows 8) and I am most certain that no harmful change to the operating system has occurred, since I also performed a clean install of Windows, the result of the writing being the same.

Have you checked burned DVDs on some other PCs? Are all of them recognized as blank discs?
What is with CDs? Have you noticed the same problem with burning data on empty CDs?
It is really strange issue and it is not easy to say what the problem can be. If I understand you right the same problem persists with clean OS installation (factory settings), right?

Split screen - Running two clips at once

Thanks again for your help but one thing puzzles me. If i crop the two pictures then they reduce to half the size of the viewer screen, which seems logical to keep the perspective correct. I must be doing something wrong and I cannot see if you crop how yo can have a full screen picture that isn't distorted.

Split screen and picture-in-picture

So I just ordered a MacBook Pro with Final Cut Express preinstalled. I read a list of its impressive features and was so excited to use it.
Now that I've opened it up though, I realize I have no idea what I'm doing! Could someone please give me some assistance? I would especially like to know how to create split-screen or picture-in-picture videos, how to do color and brightness/contrast adjustments, and how to save the final product. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated, thanks for any help ...

This example applies to resizing and animating (moving) the clip.
Double click a clip to load it into the viewer. Move the playhead in the timeline to where you want the effect to start. In the 'motion' tab, click the diamond shaped button to indicate the point at which the effect will take place.
Move the playhead along a couple of seconds then adjust the 'scale' value to around 50. You will see a keyframe automatically being added. Move the play on again and change the value again to 25 for example. Repeat this at will then render the effect - 'alt' (or 'opt') R - before previewing it in the timeline.
Different values and effects can be keyframed. For your next experiment, try using the 'desaturate' filter (from 'video filters') and change the values in the 'filters' tab after double clicking the clip.
P.S. some keyframing features are not available in FCE - I don't know which as I'm using FCP.
You'l probably be best advised to have a bit of time with the manual and books previously recommended. Do a search for tutorial too as there are a number of useful ones on this forum.
Another tip, if you want to know something specific its usually recommended that you perform a search in the relevant 'Pro Apps: Video' forum - many of your queries as a beginner will already have been asked and it's generally regarded as good form to check there first.
experiment a bit too - it's a great way of learning what and how the filters/effects work.

27" iMac split screen problem?

I went through the other threads but did not see a similar issue to this. I've had my iMac for a couple of weeks now with no problem. Today I was using it and this thick red/purple vertical stripe appeared all the way down the monitor, seemingly distorting my background image. After a few minutes the red bar went away but my screen now looks like a split screen with the left side being slightly darker than the right. The split screen only impacts the coloring, the Icons and everything still show up in the correct place. Has this issue been seen by anyone else?

Check MacRumors there was a picture of an IMac with similar issues there.

I just searched the FCPX manual in pdf and there is no mention of side by side or picture in picture. So I created it in iMovie and brought into FCPX and got the inspector info. Guess what, it is now called Crop and Transform. And it works very well. You could have any size video in the frame anywhere you wanted it to be. With key frames you could fly them around, I think.
Hope this helps. I was counting on being able to do this with synced music video takes.

Bizarre split screen in full screen mode

Each of the images you want to have in the split screen need to be in separate video tracks. If you are doing a 2-part split screen, then each of the 2 clips you are using need to be on separate video tracks (say, v1 and v2).
Next, with Image + Wireframe turned on, you can move & resize the images in the canvas so they are placed where you want them on screen (you do this with one image at a time).
Piero's QuarterPIP filter makes this a lot easier. You may want to try it.

Pnp & split screen help

I'm 99% finished with my project.
I now want to display split screen for both edited clips.
I noticed I get picture in picture on and off through out the clip like in the display screen (top right)
How did that happen? It happens when I have both clips enabled.

Probably to use the transform functions to crop and reposition the images. You'll probably need to to do one and then use the copy and paste attributes function to apply it to the other shots on that layer.

Dreamweaver CS5 crashes in split screen and other cases

EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!!
It's affecting my productivity.
I'm running SP2 to Enterprise Vista
CS5 will open just fine. It will open a plain HTML file just fine. but then when I go to split screen and click on the design window I find that it hasn't completely painted the whole of the code into the design portion... in other words it has painted like half the page... and now that I've clicked on the design portion it will crash. The same will happen in reverse... if I'm already on the design window and click over to source it will crash.
I have checked my code thinking maybe there is something drastically wrong with the code that is confusing DW, but isn't that what DW is for?? to be able to edit code that doesn't work right as well as build pages and sites? I shouldn't have to go and check code in another editor. Regardless, the problem remained. (In the words of the great pessimist, Charlie Brown, "Good grief!")
Any ideas?! BTW, I had CS5 installed before and just had to recently re-image my HD. It worked fine before with the same information as above... the only difference being that my previous CS5 was an upgrade from CS4. My new install is a direct install into CS5.

There are cache files and other system files that are created every time a user account is created. Sometimes these are corrupted in the OS and it really has no bearing on the specific application but it can lead to erratic behavior. This can lead to more problems with the OS down the road with other applications and depending on where the corruption lies it can lead to issues with OS upgrades or even installing new software. The files that are typically most critical to users are stored in the Applications folder or the Documents/Sites/Pictures folders. You can easily drag them over to a new user account. If you have email being backed up for a product like Thunderbird you can also bring over many of the Library items as well.

Quicktime Pro - Split Screen Question??

The help section says that you can edit a video to have a "split screen" - meaning that I can import a video into an existing video, and have them playing side by side (or one on top of the other). I have been able to do a picture in picture (however not playing at the same time) - but can't seem to find the correct instructions!
I am trying to show two athletes running the same 40-yard dash - comparing them either side by side, or with one video on top of the other - at the same time.
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated! (iMovie cannot do this!)

This is how I do it using iMovie 6:
Organize the video clips and/or stills that you want to superimpose on to your main video clip, by having these in separate, individual iMovie projects (no matter how small). It helps if these are in the exact length/time you want later.
Now start with the clip in your iMovie project on to which you want to superimpose one of more smaller video clips or stills. Lets call it Main Clip. Export this (share) to Quicktime Pro in DV (full quality). make sure it has the same aspect as before (Quicktime tends to default to 4:3. If you want 16:9, read on).
In Quicktime, with this project open, select File ~ Open File. Select the iMovie file (in your movies folder) of the first clip/still you want superimposed. This will open in its own QT window. Select Edit ~ copy. If it is a movie clip then select all ~ copy (or you will only get one frame!). Switch back to the Main Clip window, and click in the scroll bar where you want the extra clip/still to appear. Choose Edit ~ Add to Movie.
You can repeat this as many times as you like, if you want to build a 'Video Wall', i.e. have several superimposed clips/stills on the same Main Clip.
Do not worry that the new clip overlaps or covers up the Main Clip, at this stage.
Choose Window ~ Show Movie Properties. The Properties Dialogue appears.
You will see a list of video (and audio) tracks. Track one will be the Main Clip, track 2 your new added (superimposed) clip. Click track 2, then click visual settings. From the Scaled Size pop-op menu, choose percent. Then type 50 into the first box. If Preserve Aspect Ratio is turned on you won't need to type 50 into the second box. You have made the pasted footage appear at one quarter its original size. The inset is now hugging the top-left corner of the Main Clip. If you want, you can type numbers into the Offset Boxes to shove it away from that corner (there are 72 pixels to the inch).
If your original Main Clip was required in 16:9, unclick (de-select) Preserve Aspect Ratio, and type in the relevant numbers in the two boxes, in Video Track 1.
PAL (for Europe):
Standard DV (4:3) 788 x 576
DV Widescreen (16:9) 1050 x 576
NTSC (for the USA):
Standard DV (4:3) 720 x 528
DV Widescreen (16:9) 874 x 480
This will not affect video track 2, but if that is also wanted in 16:9 repeat for that track.
You can superimpose, 3, 4, or more such 'overlaps' on the same clip, and spend a happy afternoon tapping away for each track in the Offset Boxes until you have got them all in the right place! You can even overlap them, if you can remember (or note down - hire a secretary to take notes) which track you want on top etc.
Save the completed QT file. Import the completed file into a new iMovie project. Import this into the original iMovie project, substituting the old clip you copied to QT as Main Clip for the new fancy clip you have made.

Could anyone tell me how to activate the split-screen mode on my TV? (40TL868). I think i once accidently activated it but i'm simply too stupid to find out how to do it xD
The TV does not have Picture in Picture, but split screen mode as far as i got it.
(If I'm wrong on this, how do i activate pip mode? )
