"Distorted Playback"?

When I import 1920x1080 video into iMovie, I am notified that "selecting [full video quality] may result in degraded video playback on this computer." When I do import the video at full resolution, I do get degraded video, with weird lines going horizontally through the frame.
Why does this happen, and how do I fix it?

Neither iMovie 1-HD6 or 08 &09 nor FinalCut Express can handle 24 fps AT ALL.
Solution are FinalCut Pro or iMovie’11 !
1920x1080 60p
As far as I understands there is no version of iMovie or FinalCut that can handle 1920x1080 60p
Solution - pending - only way around I guess is to let it be converted to 60i or even 30i

Distorted playback sound garageband

hi new to garageband and can't figure out why I'm getting distorted playback. I'm using a small usb mic and recording a live instrument. It sounds like I've got a flange effect on the cello when playing back...hellish. Also when I first started mucking around with garageband it didn't do this...any ideas?

Hi and thanks for the message...just been putting a wee bit of reverb on the track. But I have always done that without any trouble.
So I guess you could say I'm recording a basic track with reverb...problem just seemed to kick i all of a sudden.

Distorted playback issue Premiere 7.1.0

In the new PP7.1.0 version the imported clips on timeline show normal playback, but once any effect is aplied and rendered the clip looks normal on pause but gets distored on playback. Exporting the clip or sequence will not result in any distortion.
Any idea how to fix this? After update this problem suddenly happend. I did not change any settings compared to the older version.

the double effects are gone but the skewness is still there. I made a new test project and whenever I render some video effect it gives a skewed playback. Audio effects are not giving any trouble. In this sceenshot I applied a 0% sharpness effect and after rendering it gives the distortion. If I deselect the effect in the effects control panel it plays back normal. I use pal 25p 5dmk3 dslr footage.

Distorted Playback with iTunes 11.0.1

Since updating to 11.0.1 (12) all tracks in iTunes are distorted when played, however same tracks from albums played through VLC are fine, any ideas anyone??

Found answer, if anyone interested, Itunes plugin deleted it and replay now good.

hi, i'm having problems with my itunes. i updated from itunes 6.0 something, to itunes 7.0.0.70 and ever since i have all the sings i listen to tend to stutter or distort when i'm browsing websites or just going through my computer. like everytime a section or a picture on a site loads, itunes stutters. after i've been through a couple of pages, the rest of the songs stutters even though i have stopped doing anything. i thought it mite have had something to do with memory usuage, but thats all fine and dandy. so got no idea what the problem is. even considering going back to the old version, because it worked.

I had the same problem after I upgraded to iTunes 7 yesterday.
I found that the problem was in QuickTime Player, & this is what you have to do, to fix it:-
PLEASE READ ALL BELOW BEFORE PROCEEDING - IT'S EASIER
Firstly make sure that iTunes is not running.
(1) in QuickTime open "QuickTime Preferences".
Note: If you've got a small "QuickTime" icon in the bottom LH corner of your screen, right-click on it, & then left-click on "QuickTime Preferences".
(2)Select the "Audio" tab.
(3) In the sound output section change the "size" setting from "24-bit", down to "16-bit".
(4) Click "Apply".
(5) Click "OK".
(6) Now, start iTunes 7.
Now, when you select one of your tunes, they should play perfectly.

Once upon a time, iTunes worked great! Music played without
any distortion. Now, a song will play for a minute or so then the sound breaks up, distortion etc. If I pause the song and click the play icon, it plays a little longer then
repeats the distortion and chopped sound. I've tried upgrading to the latest software and still the problem exists. Tried a few things mentioned on the forum and still the same results. Any help is much appreciated. BTW:
Playing the songs from the iPod is perfect. Laptop is a Pentium 4 with lots of space, speed and room for growth.

I would bet it was LR. LR print settings are confusing but you should have no problem with PS. However, LR will do what you want without any add-ins like EPP. How versed are you in the use of LR? Slightly Distorted Playback from Piano Lessons

Hello:
I am using Garageband as part of iLife '09 on an iMac 20" with an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 MIDI controller. I have a Tascam FireOne audio interface that the sound goes through, but this problem has also happened with the built-in CoreAudio driver before I purchased the interface.
I'm mainly using it at the moment for working through the Piano Lessons I've downloaded from the Lessons site. Whenever I play the piano, it's tolerable and plays fine, but I notice that the sounds can become slightly distorted sometimes. Sometimes, for instance, I would press one of the keys and it would produce a stuttering sound. Other times, I would hold down a key and it would play a different octave of the chosen key.
Any suggestions yoiu might have for improving the audio quality would be appreciated; thanks very much.

When sound device is sharing IRQ with onboard graphics --> trouble if you have not disabled the onboard graphics. This can be improved a bit by setting the PCI latency (graphics --> 32, sound --> 64-128).
!! 1212M is quite power hungry too --> is your PSU >300W?
If you're under 300$ budged --> Presonus has FireBox on sale @ 299$ (~250$ street price, and it's >500$ device).

My Music Sounds Distorted Upon DVD Playback

Anytime I create a movie and burn it in iDVD, I have to drop the movie in as a slideshow in order to keep the aspect ration and not have portions of my picture and text cutoff on the tv. The problem however is that when I play my movie the music is always very distorted, as if it was recorded at too high a volume.
In the slideshow option I have moved the volume all the way down to (min) but still find I get a distorted playback sound. Can anyone offer up suggestions?

Figured I'd bump this back up and hope for suggestions. Really dont want to have to go back to PC for this stuff. Ugh!

Solution to playback distortion in iMovie HD 6 under Snow Leopard

I took the plunge and updated to 10.6.3 not long after its release, as I prefer to be up to date with all my software. However, I did this with some trepidation. I needn't have worried (even though I had a backup), as everything seems to be working OK - other than that glitch with iMovie HD 6 playback, which is now resolved for me.
So, currently I have no issues with 10.6.3 - in fact my upgrade may not have been the culprit. I will be interested to hear what your experience is catspaw - if and when you move to the 10.6.3 version.

IMac to Apple TV 2nd gen music distortion with screen saver on.

I have an ATV2, mid 2010 iMac dual core i3, Airport Extreme 3rd generation router.
After Wednesday's update to Apple TV to implement the new user interface, I get distorted playback when initiating music playback from iTunes on the iMac as soon as the screen saver starts. It sounds like the old vinyl records when the needle skips. It isn't, oddly enough, timed with the screen changes. It occurs at ever increasing frequency, from 24 to 19 to 16 seconds.
If however, you access the iMac through the Apple TV interface, the screen saver start up does not create any interference. It doesn't matter whether the music is started using the Apple remote control or the iPhone 4S interface. Both work fine.
So it's a one way situation. When you start playing music from iTunes on the iMac, interference and distortion start with the screen saver, but if you start playing music from the Apple TV, there is no distortion or interference from the screen saver.
Any one else have this problem and a solution?

Based on an Apple Care suggestion, the solution to this problem is to reset the Apple TV completely. This is under Settings- General- Reset-Restore.
Restore will erase previous versions of the Apple TV software and will download and install a current clean version. You do have to re-enter all your configuration settings, such as wireless network password and your iTunes Account.
A little bit time consuming but it eliminated the problem.

ITunes 7.0 Distorted Songs Bug

This is the problem with iTunes messing up songs by having skipping, distrotion, echoing, and other issues. I've tried to turn sound up all the way, which is a temparary fix, and I really don't think lowering the quality will work for me. Everytime I get to a certian site on firefox iTunes starts with the issues and won't stop until I have to close it. Does someone have a good fix for this?

There's nothing you can do to fix them, it is an ITunes problem, I know this cause there are 5 computers in my house (3 laptops, 2 desktops) all 2 years or younger, one with a great soundblaster card and ALL 5 are having the crackling distorting playback
I'm sure Apple knows this and will fix it

First of All Creative - It's sad, really sad that you really haven't supported your customers. As such a big maker of excellent products, I'm disappointed to know that you have barely provided driver support to your customers. I've been buying Creative products since 1997 - Also - I purposely upgraded my sound card on my Hp Media Center to an Audigy 2 ZS. Secondly - I formatted my computer and re-installed Vista. Before that, the sound card i.e. the sound worked fine (after a lot of trial and errors with different drivers, i somehow managed to get it working without Snap, Crackle and Pop Issues. In other words, I experienced distorted playback when I first installed Vista. Now that I re-installed Vista - Everything installed but as usual - only issue: Yup, you guessed it right.
Creative Audigy 2 ZS Infamous Snap Crackle Pop (SCP) I did try k_daniels drivers and even though I applaud for his efforts - unfortunately it didn't work for me but i'm sure they would if you did the following - ) Uninstall all Creative Drivers Using Driver Sweep2) Do not install the driver through Windows Update (did not work for me)3) Install latest drivers from Creative or K_Daniel's Package4) Install Vista Codec Pack5) Install DirectX06) Then do the following: Got this sorted. Hope it works for everyone..found the answer searching Google.

Click PLAYBACK DEVICES
Right click SPEAKERS
Click PROPERTIESClick ADVANCED Make sure there's no tick marks in any of the options there including ENHANCEMENTS.
This should sort it. [After doing all this, I have no sound issues whatsoever - Crystal Clear Audio Quality but still not better then XP] I am planning to try K_Daniels pack with all the extra applications and I'll post later on in regards to my experience with the pack. Good Luck P.S: Hope this helps somebody because doing all that helped me get back the audio clarity I was looking for without any distortion whatsoever.

Im not using a decoder, only an amplifier alone with two speakers ... My cable is plugged in line out , and then plugged on line in of the amplifier.
The distortion is very audible, in HL 2, Battlefield 2, etc
When got a explosion, a shot from shotgun, missile, the sound comes distorted ...
Any more hints?

The playback resolution will not change no matter what I choose ? it may be contributing to the distorted playback issues im having ? also when I select a clip from the project or media browser the sequence automatically starts in arri editing mode? I switch to dslr but the playback gets worse.

When you refer to playback resolution, do you mean the setting highlighted in this screenshot?
If so, what happens when you try to change the setting? And, of course, if that's not what you were referring to, please elaborate.
And when you say "when I select a clip from the project or media browser the sequence automatically starts in arri editing mode," are you referring to creating a sequence from the clip? If so, the editing mode generally doesn't matter much unless you plan to use "smart encoding" or to enable "Match Sequence Settings" or "Use Preview Files" when you export, neither of which is recommended in most cases. The main properties of the sequence settings that you want to make sure are right are the height, width, pixel aspect ratio, and frame rate.
As to the distorted playback issues, a screenshot might help to start troubleshooting that.
Finally, please specify exactly which version of Premiere you have--the three-part number like 2014.0.1, not simply CC or CS6.
